congoshine:I'm sure you get your "facts" from the closest mama-put, while you stvpidly bother yourself that the President is Ijaw. I wonder where he should come from? Nodbody has been arrested? Thats very foolish talk. For your info, here are just a few of those arrested or caught red-handed bombing, shooting, and burning in the core-North: Alhaji Idris Abdullahi, Mohammed Bello Dan Sokoto, Isa Garba, Yusuf Adamu, Ali Adamu Doguwa, Ali Mohammed Doguwa, Dan Azumi Buba, Sirajo Ibrahim, Yusuf Sule, and Adamu Mohammed, Mati Abdullahi, Dini Hassan, Wada Maishayi, Shuaibu Wada, Ibrahim Babale and Adamu Babale, Usman Wada, Shitu Danlami, Suileman Musa, Sabitu Banshir, Aminu Abdullahi, Abbas Mohammed, Haruna Mohammed, Audu Adamu, Aliyu Usman, Yusuf Mu’azu, Samaila Dahiru, Abubakar Umar, Salisu Saidu, Aliwan Atsi, Babani Hassan, Hassan Yamai, Mohammed Ibrahim, Lawal Isaiyaku and Ubale Hassan Abdu. ^ I think a thread on such matters is well in order. Your analysis is spot on bro. |
Without doubt, Jonathan is Nigeria's bus that will lead us off the road to nowhere. For to long, we have been ruled (not led) by ex-generals and their goons, but at long last we have a refreshing break. Lets make the best of it. |
joeyfire:That was Rhino.5dm and playmode (Rhino even threatened to kill me on that thread). God knows I and others have complained no end about the likes of Rhino and zstranger. Its impossible to understand why types like that are allowed membership. |

Who determines what falls under such designation? Also, why do we need to go to court to access public information? Shouldn't the burden be on Public agencies to provide them freely and make them accessible? And in the case of a more "guarded" information, shouldn't a simple application suffice? afterall the people are part of "Government" right?
That is a constant in all freedom of speech charters the World over. It is an area that can never ever be strictly defined, but is rather left to the discression of the Pres, SSS and other security agencies. The internet presents a perfect example of why that area can never be defined. A few short years ago, it would have been possible to target legislation at letters, but who knew about emails? |
As much as I agree with you that the PIB is the next godzilla to be fallen, i think the bill as it currently stands will not achieve much as the IOC have succeeded in making it a light weight and all the re-alignment currently being done by them is just to position them for the over $25bn GEJ led government has pledged to invest in that sector in the next 5-10years! But again, having something is better than none and hopefully, with time, the act can be amended and if possible repealed when nigeria and nigerian conscious legislator finally get into the NASS.
Where you not the person arguing stringently that the PIB was meant to enslave Nigerians to foreign powers? congoshine:Lets not take leave of common sense. How many resigned in Spain because of ETA, or in Northern Ireland because of the IRA? You are asking that the security forces be retrained and modernised. Do you think such happens in a day? Or do you think our security decay started yesterday? So many inputs are so simplistic it beggars belief. |
md4real:I don't counter crap. |

This thread needs to be moved to the religion section. There has been an increase in the number of religious threads posted to politics; I believe that facts makes a caution necessary. Thanks. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-679504.0.html |
I pray that GEJ can totally bully the NASS in his usual quiet way, to sign the PIB. The PIB will totally end Nigeria's slavery to the likes of Shell (never again will they be able order the deaths of our Saro Wiwa's). Added to that, it will shoot Nigeria's income up from $102billion to a tectonic plate moving $685billion. That is a 700% increase folks! Go GEJ! |

The election is lost and Nigeria will NEVER EVER be ruled by primitive halfwits and red-eyed sharia besotted "ex-Generals." It is the end of the road for almajiri breeders and commanders who think the borders of Nigeria begin at the Northern fringes of Southern Kaduna. Thats why Buhari campaigned in the North only, yet hoped to rule the whole country. You born to rule folk have been stuffed by your own arrogance. The bush Buhari lost the elections and no amount of bitterness, jealousy or increasingly Al Qaeda tactics will change the fact. In fact, the more core-Northern protest resembles Al Qaeda activity, the closer Nigeria will get to witnessing US drone attacks in the core-North. I don't understand how anybody can seek sympathy by engaging in the wanton killing that has become a trademark from Benue to Jos, to Bauchi and the last elections. Sometimes you wonder if people have any brains or its just the case of "whom the gods mean to destroy, they first make mad." All the the rest of us witness from the core-North is inexplicable madness. |
My opinion. Never give responsibity to an aged commander of a pack of deliberately uneducated wild types. A fool at 40 is a fool forever, I don't know what they say about a fool at 70. ![]()

‘Towards the Economic Transformation and Viability of Nigerian States, can we break the Oil Resource Curse?’http://tribune.com.ng/sun/index.php/news/3998-nigeria-needs-total-restructuring-to-achieve-economic-growth-soludo Soludo also called for the devolution of powers to the states in order to exploit mineral resources that abound in those areas with the aim of paying taxes to the federal government in line with true federalism.http://dailytimes.com.ng/article/soludo-calls-15-ministers Soludo has said a lot of good stuff. nigeria was designed for generals to feed themselves fat on oil money and so they could distribute corrupting patronage to the disenfranchised masses. IBB famously said all his attempts to collapse the economy had failed, because the country defies traditional economics. And boy, does it defy all rules of common sense! ![]() There is no country on Earth where packs of nitwits gather together to clamour for states where there will be no means of sustainance. Indeed, they band together simply to vie for oil money. The case is even worse in the core-North where they have somehow managed to generate 10 million riot-ready almajiri's on other peoples money, needless to say, that unwashed bunch will not hesitate to murder those from revenue generating areas for the price of a loaf. We have managed to build a bewideringly stvpid system that manufactures corruption very efficiently. Everything is based on top-down patronage and the ability to either unleash or thrive through chaos and primitive displays. In all known countries of the World (except the likes of Somalia), the system is opposite to what obtains in Nigeria; LG's fund state (or equivalents), the states in turn fund the central govt. There is no country in the World where the central govt pays states, only for them to breed almajiri's by the million, or reject education; even worse, refuse to develop industries and services to make themselves self sufficient. Everyone looks to the FG like shameless cretins who don't wish to lift a finger. All 36 states of the country are a complete disgrace, not one can live without oil and the FG. It is not the fault of the states though, rather its the mess we inherited from traumatic years of being led by abject fools in military fatigues. We need to find clever ways out of the mess. I keep pushing that a situation be created that would mandate each state to provide business plans and feasibilty reports for their development; viable plans will be funded with loans from oil money and repaid as share or cash to the ND. Those that can't think up money making schemes outside oil are either mentally lazy or economically unviable and must merge. We must also totally loosen the land use decree, petroleum act and resource control statutes. The FG must totally relinquish all rights to land (onshore, offshore and litoral), instead all FG revenues must be derived strictly from taxes on states and LG's. This will ensure that no section of the country can abuse the other. Nigeria is blessed with vast human, natural and mineral resourses. Oil isn't everything, as far as Nigeria is concerned, its just the fools way to guarantee the next meal. |

Report or be declared wanted, EFCC tells indicted govs On May 31, 2011 · In Headlines https://vml1.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Efcc-Govs.jpg BY LEKE ADESERI, South West Regional Editor LAGOS — ECONOMIC and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has started inviting some of the governors whose immunity expired on Sunday as new helmsmen took over the administration of their states. Also, some of them, believed to have fled the country, and who do not honour the commission’s invitation will be declared wanted promptly. Meantime, the commission has said that the immediate past governors of Oyo and Ogun states, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala and Otunba Gbenga Daniel respectively, among others, have questions to answer from petitions written against them while they were in office. The commission’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, told Vanguard, weekend, that they were moving in on these set of ex-governors despite the report that Gbenga Daniel might have fled the country. Babafemi said the latest moves by the ex-governors showed that most of them were cowards. He said: “We are aware that Daniel left the country some days ago before his immunity expired. However, we are not perturbed since what happened to former Delta Governor, James Ibori, is fresh in everyone’s memory. “The public office holders should know that the world is a global village as far as the fight against corruption is concerned. This is one of our challenges as these people want to hide behind the law to evade justice. “However, it may be worse for those who flee than those who brave our enquiries. They should remember that there won’t be respite for them wherever they go on the globe.” Ohakim invited Vanguard learnt from reliable sources, yesterday, that the immediate past governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has been invited to appear at the Abuja head office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Ikedi Ohakim, according to Vanguard sources, was asked to show up at the Commission’s office on May 30, 2011 for interview. The source said: “He has a date with us tomorrow, and failure to appear at the EFCC headquarters as requested will result in the Commission declaring him a wanted man.” An aide of the EFCC boss, Mrs Farida Waziri, was quoted by an on-line report as saying that it appears that the former governor was on the run following his hand over to the incoming governor, Rochas Okorocha on Friday, May 27, 2011. The source said the Commission has lost trail of the outgoing governor since the evening of May 27, 2011. The report also said that an impeccable source in Owerri, the capital of Imo State said that Ikedi Ohakim had escaped to South Africa, adding that immediately after the handover, Ohakim drove to the Owerri airport where a chartered plane was waiting for him. The source said he jetted out to a destination believed to be South Africa. Apart from Akala, Daniel and Ohakim, names of other ex-governors being bandied for investigation by the EFCC, are Bukola Saraki of Kwara State; Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State; Ibrahim Shinkafi of Zamfara State; Muhammadu Goje of Gombe State; Modu Sheriff of Borno State and Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State. These governors lost their immunity on Sunday as none of them returned to office, having either completed their two terms in office or lost their re-election bid in April’s governorship election. Leave Otunba Gbenga Daniel alone – aide Responding to the allegation that his principal fled the country before his immunity expired, the media assistant to the ex-governor, Mr Adegbenro Adebanjo said: “As I respond to the wicked insinuation making the round purporting that Otunba Gbenga Daniel has fled the country, it is important to state clearly that there is no truth whatsoever in the claim which is another of the many lies being bandied about by the political opponents of the former governor of Ogun State. “For the avoidance of doubt, on Friday, May 27, 2011, the last working day of Otunba Daniel as the governor of Ogun State, he presented his handover notes to the incoming administration and also rendered his account of service. He had earlier presented a compendium of the comprehensive account of all receipts and expenditure from 2003 to 2011 for public scrutiny. “After the short ceremony, he was escorted out of the governor’s office by cheering public servants. At about 11pm he left for London via the British Airways for a scheduled short holiday in England. This is a well deserved holiday for a man who worked for eight years without any holiday or break. Normal security checks “Otunba Daniel travelled through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport escorted by the State Security Service personnel and police security detail. He went through all the normal security checks and at no point was any query raised by security agents on duty. “It is important to note that the former governor had informed all the security chiefs in Ogun State three weeks earlier about his intention to leave the country for a short rest on May 27. All relevant authorities who should be conventionally notified were also in the know of the governor’s trip. He did not go through any illegal route. This cannot be the disposition of a man fleeing the country. “Again in 2003 Otunba Daniel’s predecessor did not attend the swearing in ceremony of the new governor and, therefore, there is nothing extraordinary in Otunba Daniel travelling out at this point. It is important to restate that no agency or organization has issued any query whatsoever formal or informal about anything saved for the wicked lies being bandied about by traducers and their foot soldiers. “The wicked rumour making the rounds is, therefore, a continuation of the propaganda against the person of the former governor by purveyors of dark politics. “Otunba Daniel has served Ogun State and Nigeria meritoriously. He should be left alone in peace. All the deliberately simulated allegations cannot hold water. The former governor has no intention to leave his country as he has not committed any offence or infringement against the law of the land. He is well and able to defend his stewardship in Ogun State whenever he is called upon to do so.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/05/report-or-be-declared-wanted/ |

luluosas:Crap. You obviously think you are some sort of fearsome gorilla (one that talks rubbish anyway). I have rightly accused rhino and playmode of cowardice for failing to arrest people and getting mouthy when they have fled. Do you have another definition of cowardice? Most of you loud people just talk rubbish and expend energy loudly for things that don't matter, but are damn quiet when you should be challenging. Its called foolishness. |
It is instructive of Massa's funny driving that he ended up crashing out of the race through no one elses fault, but his. Lewis description of Massa and Maldonado's antics was apt: "Massa held me up in qualifying, I got the penalty. He turned in to me [during the race], I got the penalty. These drivers are ridiculous. It's silly."Maldonado can be excused as a rookie, but Massa? The clown did the same to Jensen and got him a penalty earlier this season; Massa is about the most ridiculous piece of junk on the F1 circuit. I feel for Lewis being the only black F1 driver, and being the best too by a long shot. Racists don't find such funny. Its good the way Lewis has spoken up, because everyone now knows what he's had to deal with for years; more than that, the World will now be watching for any stvpid penalties he gets. I expect a few high profile voices to chip in a sideways word in the near future, the circus can't be allowed to continue. Hamilton has made himself one of global sport's highest profile figures thanks to his inspirational driving, and cool, youthful image. And he has established himself in the four and a half years of his career as unquestionably the greatest overtaker in F1, as well as arguably its out-and-out fastest driver.http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2011/05/hamilton.html It has taken 4 years for this clown to realise the obvious, thanks perhaps to Lewis's forthright outburst. There was never anyone more scathing and condescending of Lewis in the past. Indeed, Andrew Benson (a brit) spent his free time drooling over the Spanish Alonso on the BBC F1 forum (606) when Lewis was reigning World champion and a fellow BRIT. How does that work out, if not Lewis "birth right?" |
9ja4eva:Something tells me he'll not be there more than a year. In the meantime, he has got to be watched closely, so that Delta states money is not used as fuel for almajiri uprisings as has been the case in the past; aboki handpicked the governors so they could siphon oil money. The luck Rivers has is that Amaechi won a legal and militant face off with the "chosen." |

@OP If you have money to waste, go and sue. It will be an exersice in futility and you might end up (rightfully so too) under SSS spotlight. I was at London Bridge when the bombs went off in the tube, we were ushered out of the station without the slightest apology or reason and the station closed immediately. Once outside, phones did not work. And it was so for the better part of one day (again, without apology or reason), when services did come back, they were patchy and more useless than anything available in Nigeria right up until the next day. My family heard about the blasts, but could not get in touch with me to know if I was caught up in them. . . .The long and short is, not one person sued govt. It is hard to even imagine a British person doing that, such a person would become public enemy number one and need police protection, cos people will think they are Al Qaeda apologists. Some Nigerians come up with their funny positions either out of the need to show off or out of an inate wickedness. Govt shut down phone services to save lives, if you think that action was wrong or lives are expendable just so your phone works, then sue the govt, its your right (albeit one too foolish to contemplate). You don't know what you are talking about or your money comes too easy. |
How come you forgot IBB? ![]() |
Lord Babs:If you don't grasp something so basic as loud talking is rude and uncultured, then hope might be lost. Every kid is taught that it is basic manners not to talk too loud. Would you dare shout at your dad for example? Don't justify nosense with your argument about bus conductors. Thats just crass. Bus conductors shout because Nigeria is a chaotic place, full of people that have been traumatised to the point of brain death; the only way to get things through to the poor souls is to shout like you are addressing a cretin. Perhaps, little signs that say something like, "Abule Egba" on buses in a neat queue would do the trick in peace and quiet. No? Do you see fools leaning out of dollar buses in the US? If not, why? This is a dollar bus: https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3492/3926297778_dc1bc9f8c2.jpg Australia: https://www.visualsbysheree.com/FiveDollarBusSM.JPG |
mastro:When phone services were blocked in London after the tube bombs, did that stop emergency services receiving calls? Your analysis is not the best. Also, how has the fact that the UK shut off phone services in London stopped it from being a more advanced democracy than Nigeria? |
seanet02:Dude, you can talk your crap, but everyones gotta work for their pay. At some point, the ND will lose patience; we just haven't seen that finale because they feel Jonathan would have a listening ear as well as first hand understanding of the suffering pollution causes. If Yar Adua was still in power, by now we would have been in full scale war and we hold all the aces, immense purse strings against a shameless nation that wants to put up its feet and dump on minorities. I don't care for toads and slime balls like Tinubu. If you worship him thats your call, if you are decieved into handing your woman and family to him, that too is your call. Let your state feed itself instead of bothering where federal funds come from. That would be a start, only babies should be fed, not grown up lazy fcks. |
lukkie:Did you actually watch that F1 season? The FIA did everything both under and above the table to give it to Ferrari, Lewis won only because of his extraordinary talent. Its hard to find any sane explanation for Lewis punishment for this overtake in 2008 (one of many, there was something similar with Takuma Sato). Spa 2008 was a race Lewis won, but was stripped off for "mysterious" reasons after giving us one of the most beautiful drives ever in F1 (add Silverstone, Monaco). The racism accusation against F1 is not new either: http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f223/fia-max-mosely-racist-61466/ [flash=680,480] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K9P9z_Lwa0[/flash] An angry F1 fan: [flash=680,480] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtQqTVXiPZ0[/flash] |
