The loud-mouthed Fashola never even got a mention! There is only so far planting pretty flowers can take you, while abandoning poorer areas like Ikorodu and Epe. Let him go debate Akpabio and be disgraced. While he is at it, he should also learn how far from loud-mouted Akpabio is, he isn't calling for debates while planting silly flowers. How I Overcame Toronto Certificate Scandal —Tinubu Written by Kunle Awosiyan, Lagos Saturday, 19 June 2010 Former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, has attributed his victory over allegation of certificate forgery to the brilliance and firmness of former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Tinubu said, at the launching of a book, “Contemporary issues in Nigerian constitutional law,” a series of essays compiled in honour of Osinbajo on Friday, that but for Osinbajo, his political career would have nosedived. According to Tinubu: “The capability and firmness of Osinbajo in my time of travail made me to triumph against every plan by my detractors to destroy my image and career.” It will be recalled that the late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, prosecuted Tinubu over certificate forgery during his first tenure as governor between 1999 and 2003. However, while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the book launch, Tinubu said that he would have been nailed for the offence he did not commit if Osinbajo was not available to defend him. “Osinbajo brought his knowledge of constitutional law and stood by me even at the time when some of my commissioners were planning to resign from the cabinet. He indulged my politics and allowed it to flourish in the face of detractors,” he said. He added that Osinbajo was the best decision he ever made in his political career, describing him as the biggest weapon in his political armoury. “Osinbajo encouraged me to create 37 Local Council Development Areas with his astounding knowledge of constitutional law. I could challenge the Federal Government because of the capability of the professor of law,” Tinubu said. http://www.tribune.com.ng/sat/index.php/news/1360-how-i-overcame-toronto-certificate-scandal-tinubu.html |

Tinubu has a way of popping up in news items for all the wrong reasons. Little did we know when thrilled Nigeria with a set of forged documents, he claimed were qualification from the "University of Toronto" that we were in for a wild, long ride! |
^ I've seen these charts as they include the SS as well. It would be useful to publish all comparisons. |
Yes, Lagos is a challenging place and people can be quite aggressive, even the elderly! |
I wish there were brain glasses for the stoopid. lol |
seanet02:Hmmm! I wonder why doctors in the SS aren't on strike. Mystery! Dimwit. |
trueword:You must be very daft. Whoever said I am against a presidential debate? It always wise to read through the thread before airing your smelly arse through your mouth. It is not Fashola's place to call for a debate, that is for Ribadu to do. Fashola is a mere governor who is getting too big for his boots and talking crap all over the place. Let him go debate Akpabio who is noted to be Nigeria's best governor by independent foreign watchers and knowledgable Nigerians. Lets see how small he would look at the end of what would be a humbling experience. |
9ijaMan:You are even more of a dunce than I thought. In the anals of Nigeria's history, GEJ's Presidency began on 6 May 2010. Even the worst fool can tell that, but you just want to protect your previous lie with a more obvious lie. Shame. Funny guy. |
‘We are not intimidated by Tinubu' By Gbenro Adeoye February 25, 2011 02:29AM Striking doctors in Lagos have stated that they are unperturbed by the recent comments of former state governor, Bola Tinubu, who called for their sack .They however warned that such move would be counter-productive. The political godfather of Lagos politics, Mr. Tinubu on Wednesday described the ongoing doctors' strike as politically motivated and advised the state government to sack doctors who would not accept government's offer. Sacking doctors will be counter-productive Taofeek Majolagbe, the Medical Guild vice chairman has denied claims of any political undertone to the strike, urging the state government to shun any advice that could worsen the situation. "It's up to the state government to follow the advice, but we can only urge the government to choose the path of peace," he said. "We are hoping that the state government will not take to the former governor's advice because it will only worsen the situation." Mr. Majolagbe denied the claims that the ongoing strike- as result of the non- implementation of the agreements reached ,last year with the state government- is politically motivated. He said the doctors are still on the payment of Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS) and the reinstatement of the former Guild chairman, Ibrahim Olaifa, amongst other demands. Mr. Olaifa who was sacked for addressing the press, and said to be campaigning for the House of Representative ticket in Oyo State, under the platform of a rival party, was accused of fuelling the crisis. "Doctors are on strike in many other states in the country, nurses are on strike in federal hospitals across the country, nurses were on strike in the state last year, is it also (Mr.) Olaifa and the party he belongs to that are also behind all that the issues," asked Mr. Majolagbe, while reacting to Mr. Tinubu's comment. "Rather, it's the state government that is trying to politicise the issue, we went on strike last year and the state government gave a promise to implement the agreement at a particular date, but they have failed to keep to that promise and the issues have not changed." Strike effects biting hard Meanwhile, residents have continued to groan under the effects of the doctors' strike which entered three weeks today, urging both parties to resolve the crisis immediately. Wards, clinics, waiting rooms and walk ways across state-owned health care centres, including general hospitals and a teaching hospital have remained deserted, following the industrial action. A resident, Rachel Oladunni, who lost her 27 year-old nephew early this week, blamed the ongoing strike, adding that the nature of the ailment was still unknown to the family. "It was that bad; he complained that he was not feeling fine and the parents would have brought him to the general hospital but for the strike, and the parents could not afford to go to a private hospital. Even now, nobody knows what killed that boy," she said in Yoruba. Muinat Shodunke, a mother whose four year-old daughter, was born with defect limbs that makes it difficult for her to stand upright, also expressed displeasure with the crisis rocking the state's public health service. "We have done the X-rays we were asked to do, and the operation is the only thing left now, but there is no one to do it now," she said. "The major problem is that we've been told that the defect can only be corrected now that she's young, and time is running out; that is my fear," she said. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/Metro/Health/5679733-146/story.csp |
EFCC PROBES SALE OF FIVE U.S HOUSES BY TINUBU . Saturday, 26 February 2011 00:00 Nigerian Compass *Re-opens money laundering investigation *Alleges $million lodgement in foreign accounts FAR from being over, the hide-and-seek between former Lagos State Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), may have only just begun. In what appears to be a beaten track, the anti-graft commission has launched a fresh investigation into the activities of the former Governor while he was in office. The new probe is over the circumstances in which two houses in Maryland, United States of America linked to the former governor were sold. Suspecting money-laundering, the anti-graft agency is also probing the alleged operation of four million dollar foreign accounts in the U.S. by the former governor. One of the houses on the radar is located at Limestone Crescent, while another is at Hillmeade Station Drive, both in Maryland. EFCC operatives, who believe that the money with which the former governor acquired the five houses were from state funds, may soon invite him for interrogation. The operation of foreign account, if true, offends section three of the Code of Conduct for public officials which states: “The President, Vice -President, Governor, Deputy Governor, Ministers of the Government of the Federation and Commissioners of the Governments of the States, members of the National Assembly and of the Houses of Assembly of the States, and such other public officers or persons as the National Assembly may by law prescribe shall not maintain or operate a bank account in any country outside Nigeria.” A top official of the EFCC last told the Nigerian Compass on Saturday that the commission was making progress in the investigation. When similar allegations were made last year, the former Governor ascribed it to an attempt by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to silence him, being a key figure in the opposition party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (A CN). Tinubu, who has also weathered several other storms including questions about his academic credentials, allegations of drug dealing and financial misappropriation, also declared that he could not be intimidated by anybody or organisation, and dared the EFCC to arrest him. Last year, he described a statement credited to the EFCC that he was being investigated as a political blackmail and challenged the commission to commence his prosecution and stop hiding under the cloak of perennial investigation if it hasdproven cases against him. The former Governor said that the repeated claim by the EFCC that it was investigating him without attempts to prosecute him was affecting his reputation, his family and his business prospects. He said the failure of EFCC to prosecute him despite incessant investigation was provocative, explaining that he had neither obstructed his investigation nor stopped the commission from bringing him to book. The former governor, who expressed his feelings at a news conference with journalists in his Ikoyi, Lagos home was reacting to reports credited to EFCC Chairman Farida Waziri that the commission had a case file on Tinubu and was still investigating him. She had specifically mentioned Tinubu’s name as one of the ex-governors under probe. But Tinubu, who described the move as a political blackmail and a mere reaction to his recent political activism, which he said was manifested in his pursuit of justice in the then recent governorship rerun in Ekiti State, insisted that his right to liberty was being infringed upon. Disclosing that his purported investigation had begun since 2002 in an attempt to stop him from seeking re-election, Tinubu said he would not be cowed. He said apart from his last visit to the EFCC and his files which contained the names of his lawyers, nobody had reached out to him nor asked him any question on the alleged corruption allegations. He, however, said he would not be intimidated; nor succumb to any political blackmail. His words: ‘I’m not interested in what they are saying, but you cannot perpetually hang the hammer of investigation over my head. It’s not fair. It all started from (Nuhu) Ribadu era, from the year 2002 when they attempted to stop me from re-contesting for a second term. ‘They didn’t succeed. Then, in the following years, they have been talking of Bola Tinubu being under investigation. Each time I aggressively pursue a goal that is anti-establishment position, you find an act of investigation by EFCC or the authority hanging over my head. That continued from 2002 up to year 2007.” Interestingly, Mallam Ribadu is now the presidential candidate of Tinubu’s A CN in the coming election. At the press conference, Tinubu had said further: “They used immunity excuse and made all sorts of allegations which I challenged. Ribadu’s claim to the media was that my corruption had international dimension. What is international dimension was not stated there. I went to EFCC. There was no immunity any longer. I provided answers to the questions. What is very annoying is that if they have evidence to prosecute me, this is an era of rule of law, just go to court and prosecute me. Don’t hang the hammer of investigation perpetually on my head. If you have concrete facts, let’s go to court. Let me move on with my life.” Expressing worry over the perpetual allegations, he said: ‘I have families. I have friends. I have business associates and my right to personal liberty is guaranteed under the constitution. As a result of this blackmail method of one being investigated, my family, my children, a lot of people have been calling me since yesterday. I have never done anything to stop them from investigating me. I have never disturbed their investigation. ‘We’ve seen several cases of even political murders where they said there was no need for further investigation, so many of those cases. Now, how long will you take and when will I be able to have my right back? Because two years after I left office, if you have not come up with concrete evidence that will let you prosecute me, please, keep quiet and let me move on with my life. ‘This idea of announcing Bola Tinubu is under investigation; Tinubu is under investigation, is political blackmail as far as I am concerned. And I hope that Mrs. Waziri will not step on a wrong direction. I’m not going to be intimidated. It’s all about activism and even support that will bring about free and fair election; that will bring about justice in Ekiti and any part of the country. No matter what happens, I will not be intimidated.’ http://www.compassnewspaper.com/NG/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=76044:efcc-probes-sale-of-five-us-houses-by-tinubu&catid=43:news&Itemid=799 |

Even ACN's former presidential candidates now call Tinubu a liar. The house of cards is falling around the rascal. |
Tinubu lied on ACN/CPC alliance -Bafarawa •As ACN leaders storm Ibadan for Ajimobi •Adewusi, Soji Akanbi absent •Lam shameless - Alao-Akala Written by Bello Gusau, Stephen Gbadamosi, Charles Akinsete and Tunde Ogunesan Sunday, 27 February 2011 FORMER Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has debunked the insinuation by his former Lagos State counterpart, Senator Bola Tinubu, that the alliance effort between the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) was frustrated by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when, according to Bafarawa, he (Tinubu) was the one responsible for the breakdown of the alliance. Bafarawa, who stated this on Saturday at a press conference in Sokoto, described the former Lagos State governor both as a liar and an agent of the PDP, who truncated the merger talks out of his selfish desire to be the vice presidential candidate. He said rather than beat around the bush, Tinubu should own up to the responsibility for the failure of the allaince talks between the two parties. Bafarawa, who was a presidential aspirant of the ACN, said the presidential standard-bearer of the CPC, General Muhammadu Buhari, had earlier said it was the former Lagos State governor who was frustrating the allaince talks between the ACN and CPC because of the interest he had in becoming his running mate, a development he said could not be possible in view of the fact that it would be tantamount to having a Muslim/Muslim ticket. "I am surprised that rather than Tinubu refuting the pronouncement by Buhari, he resorted to pointing accusing fingers at others over the failure of the alliance when he is to blame,” he said. The former Sokoto State governor lamented that the alliance talks between the ACN and CPC was initiated by leading members of the two parties, including him, but that as the talks progressed, they were kept in the dark because of the sinister motive of those who were not truly in support of the alliance. He said as leaders, politicians should imbibe the habit of saying the gospel truth on matters that concerned members of the public and not resort to making scape-goats through misplaced accusations. Bafarawa said this was necessary in view of the need by politicians to protect their integrity and respect in the eyes of the people. The former Sokoto State governor, however, concluded by saying that he had nothing personal against Tinubu as the two of them were political associates, who now belong to one party, the ACN, but that the both of them needed to put things in clear perspectives in the best interest of the nation's hard-earned democracy. . . . http://tribune.com.ng/sun/index.php/front-page-articles/3262-tinubu-lied-on-acncpc-alliance-bafarawa-as-acn-leaders-storm-ibadan-for-ajimobi-adewusi-soji-akanbi-absent-lam-shameless-alao-akala |

Ozin:Tell them! And Akpabio is not so full of himself like Fashola who is just beginning to get on everyones nerves with his daft comments. I would love to see Fashola challenge Akpabio to a debate instead of talking foolishly above his station. Lets see if he has the balls to challenge a governor thats better than him and recommended by the US as the performer and transformer among the govs to watch out for. Rubbish. What Fashola is doing is a class act on how to self-destruct. Here is a man throwing the good name he had acquired nationally to the dogs; maybe his ambition ends with selling Lagos to himself and Tinubu anyway, so no biggies. |

Tinubu’s critic loses TV programme By Emmanuel Ogala February 26, 2011 02:14PM Fans of ‘The Project’, a politics-centred interview programme on Television Continental (TVC) in Lagos, will have to look for another programme because there are claims that the programme has been dropped from the station based on the directive of Bola Tinubu. Mr Adekeye said the decision to discontinue the programme was communicated to him on phone by the management of the station on Tuesday, 48 hours after he had a meeting with the management where they informed him of Mr Tinubu’s displeasure with an article he had written earlier in the month. On 4 February, Mr Adekeye wrote an article he titled “Dynasty Toples Democracy” that was published in NEXT’s opinion page. In the article, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner Mr Tinubu, leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), was personalising the party. He also criticised Mr Tinubu’s romance with the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in search of a vice president position at the detriment of his party’s presidential candidate, Nuhu Ribadu. Eleven days later, Kehinde Bamigbetan, Chairman of Ejigbo local council in Lagos and former spokesman for Mr Tinubu wrote a rejoinder he titled “Tinubu Does Not Deserve Ribadu’s Scorn” that was also published in NEXT. “Let the real Muyiwa Adekeye, political consultant and protégé of Nuhu Ribadu, the presidential candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, shake off the paraphernalia of his pretence and stand where he truly belongs,” Mr Bamigbetan wrote in his opening paragraph for his rejoinder. He criticised Mr.Adekeye’s opinion and choice of language in the article. “Adekeye’s reference to our leaders as potentates indicates the little regard he has for experience and expertise on the field,” he added. After the programme was routinely aired that week, Mr Adekeye was invited for a meeting with the management of TVC. At the meeting, “they left me with no doubt that the owner of TVC (Mr Tinubu) was not happy with my articles,” Mr Adekeye said. “I was told that Mr Tinubu was unhappy with some of the things I said in the article, and I made it clear that I wasn’t going to surrender my right to express myself freely as a Nigerian.” The following day, Mr Adekeye wrote a reply to Mr Bamigbetan’s rejoinder, but published it in another national daily. The article gave his programme a red card. According to Mr Adekeye, the morning after his second article was published, the station manager, Gbolahan Olalemi, informed him that the “directors have decided to rest the programme.” Mr Olalemi in an interview with NEXT, however, denied the allegation that the programme was dropped based on the orders of Mr Tinubu. He said that the claim came as a surpprise to him. “The man (Mr. Tinubu) doesn’t even know there is a programme called The Project. How could he have said it should be dropped?” The Project was first aired on 8 January and since has hosted high profile guests like Nuhu Ribadu, ACN’s presidential candidate, Tunde Bakare, CPC’s vice presidential candidate, Adamu Ciroma, chairman Northern Elders Forum, and Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State. The station manager, however, said the programme did not meet up with the station’s quality standards and needed to be improved and that was the reason it was dropped. “I called him and said he should improve the quality of The Project.” The station manager said. He added that he had at some point offered to produce the programme himself to ensure it got the needed standard. Mr Adekeye, however, disagreed with the station manager. “There is a Yoruba saying that: if a witch cries at night and a child dies the following morning, everyone knows the cause of the child’s death,” said Mr Adekeye, tracing the fate of his programme to his articles. Mr Bamigbetan who still speaks for Mr Tinubu told NEXT he was not aware of Mr Adekeye’s difficultuties with the station. “This is news to me. I will dig into it and get back to you,” he said. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/5680180-147/tinubus_critic_loses_tv_programme_.csp |

9ijaMan:Seriously, why the need to always tell lies? Is it because you cannot refute a word of justcashes post? Even then, its just raks of dishonesty to attempt covering up with lies. GEJ was sworn in on the 6 May 2010 that makes 9 months, even to illiterates. |
^ I get upset each time vulcanisers and the like call me omoibo or Igbo. Because I am not Igbo but, they can't be arsed; to them, its a derogatory thing they use, cos they think you can't understand what they are saying. |
SEFAGO:Whatever his meaning, he has beaten off much more than he can chew this time. IMHO, only a miracle can save him; it is almost guaranteed that he will either be locked up within a week at most, or his life will be made very miserable indeed. Those thinking he is untouchable will be in for a shocker, cos GEJ does his things smoothly, quietly and very effectively (ask Ciroma whose very own wife is now challenging him ).Whatever his meaning, ND people feel very slighted. |
SEFAGO:Interesting turn of words. When you aren't being PC, what exactly are you? Don't you think there's a very strange irony in not expecting a politicians words to be politically correct? Abeg, drop the bong jare. Calling ND people fishermen, Yoruba people Yoruba or Hausa people cattle-rearers is ethnically bigoted and not expected from someone of Tinubu's political rank. |
