Oga, Tunisia is one of the most developed countries in Africa (much closer to Eauropean levels than Nigeria) and its been so for decades. They aren't a "little country" as you've put it. Nigeria has simply underperformed. |
otokx:No, its just the end game. Some major muscle was flexed in the faces of the governors to show that there are several easy alternatives for the man with a full hand of cards. They will line up firmly behind GEJ before the week is out, no more governors forum and other anti-democratic stuff. It is now Atiku. GEJ and his supporters are the same in nature, very shallow in ideas. Army Deploys 17,000 Soldiers for Internal Security From Senator Iroegbu in Abuja , 12.14.2010 Fct The Nigerian Army (NA) in response to the recent directive by President Goodluck Jonathan for restoration of total Security control across the country by mid-2011, has deployed 17,000 officers and soldiers for internal security operations in the South-East, Niger Delta, Plateau, Bauchi and Borno States to checkmates militancy, kidnapping and ethno-religious crises. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. O.A Ihejirika who announced this yesterday during an interactive session with defence correspondents in Abuja, said that all training exercise for the year had to be cancelled and the men deployed for internal security operations in crises prone part of the country. Ihejirika disclosed that the operation in the South East against kidnapping has been extended to Akwa-Ibom and Imo States, where the kidnappers are now hiding in the hinterland states, while the Army has established a Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Ikwuano-Umuahia, Abia state and other parts of Imo State. Concerning the operation in Ayakoroma area of Niger Delta against the “criminals” in the creek, which has raised a lot of controversies and conflicting reports following alleged massive civilian casualties; the Army boss disclosed that eight soldiers and six civilians were killed during the cross fire. He said that “President Goodluck Jonathan in his magnanimity has directed the NA to rebuild all the structures damaged during the encounter, while relief materials have been sent to alleviate the suffering of the people in the area”, and announced that Army Engineers have commenced work, assuring that “within the next one week, construction work will begin in earnest”. On the Boko Haram issue, Ihejirika said that new strategy has been mapped out and that the Army is going to take stringent measures, to checkmate the incursion of Boko Haram. Similarly, he threw more light on the killing of the kidnapping Kingpin in Abia State, Osisikankwu, explaining that the operation was a major prelude to comprehensive elimination of kidnapping in the South-East. He disclosed that 12 children, between ages of 5 to 12 years, and a seven month old nursing mother, were rescued from the enclave of the Osisikankwu, and noted that he (Osisikankwu) was killed during cross-fire as his soldiers wanted to arrest him alive. “Before then one of his henchmen had been captured who gave the soldiers the description of the hideout, and the earlier captured Osisikankwu boy had taken the soldiers to their Armoury, were RPGS, GPMGS, and assorted type of arms and ammunitions were recovered”, he said. The Army boss, also disclosed that over 350 kidnappers have so far been captured by the soldiers, since operation “Jubilee” began, stressing that “kidnapping had become a lucrative business in the South-East involving all shades of characters, accomplices, numbering about 2,000”. On the sale of arms in the Armoury in Jaji, the Army Chief announced that no part of the investigations and the court martial was covered as all those involved were jailed for life, while others got sentences ranging from five years and loss of seniority. He debunked the online publication of the Sahara Reporters, indicting past Army Chiefs and their Director of Military Intelligence (DMIS)’s is malicious, unfounded, distractive and done in bad fate, and said that all past service chiefs and DMI did not aid the sale of arms, as they all took respective bold steps to get those involved and appropriate actions aid punishment meted out for them. http://www.thisdayonline.info/nview.php?id=189932 |

I don't care if they make daimonds at the CBN. All govt agencies must give account, there is no reason for any other option. Now we know the NASS members just seat and absorb 25% of recurrent expenditure, there is no reason not to find the truth about the CBN's position like some here are arguing. Let us demand to know where every single kobo is going and why. ![]() |
The dead guy in the photo looks identical to the dude in the pic below. Question is, was Osisikankwu caught at one time only to be released to commit more atrocities in the usual corrupt way? The country is in the state it is because of past hotheaded rulers, who have only done the same thing for 50 years. My sister, their results are predictable and visible all around us. Most have agreed that Nigeria;s main issue is an inferiority complex. We don't need types that will continue the bruising behaviour that caused it, rather, a different style of leadership is required in these trying times. |

BetaThings:He is not a coward. He was only being diplomatic in the presence of the NASS while his mind was made up all the time. All he did was employ an oblique Strategy to achieve the exact same goal as Sanusi, while Sanusi's approach was the frontal, railroad sort. The major difference is that Aganga will likely succeed, while Sanusi will fail and be punished. |
If CBN does not account for the monies it recieves, then it is as guilty as the NASS. The CBN has always operated like a secret cult anyway, so its high time it and all other govt parastatals are brought to account. We must avoid getting all sentimental because of the gallant job Sanusi did in exposing the NASS, he too must give account. Let every fcking kobo in the whole govt framework be accountable. All Ministries (works, agric etc) mentioned in the chopping imbroglio must be forced by the peoiple to give account. The days of looking on like mugu's have past. |
Poor Atiku, the experienced thief. He now understands that stealing (in which his "experience" is vast) isn't the same as politics. Politics requires, head on shoulders, high IQ, strategic style manuevering; not the agbero, low IQ, jungle ways that theiving demands. Poor thing! He is wildly outclassed. ![]() Can we not call this sour grapes and throwing in the towel, even before the bell for the opening round of battle has sounded? Damn! |
Nigerians should sit back and enjoy revealation times, while the NASS - CBN quarrell rages. While they continue to leak their innermost figures. . . We be recording. ![]() Before things start getting boring, will the Ministries of Works, Agriculture etc also pile in? ![]() |
Inferiority complex is an unfortunate Nigerian disease. Blessed with abundant human and physical resources, the best we can do is import goods from all sorts crazy places (most dodgy). We lack the self confidence to buy and promote goods made in Nigeria, when that isn't happening, we are pulling down capable Nigerians, our neighbours and "friends"; all because we are jealous of them or for ethnically bigoted reasons. We worship whites, Indians and sing in Jamaican patois; while sitting on our own kind. Rather than export Icheoku etc, we create fake copies of "better" cultures and traditions that result in disconnected TV programmes like the "Nigerian Idol." The man on the street who can't feed his kids, talkless of travelling to the UK, knows all about Manchester United and absolutely zero about Warri Wolves. ![]() Nigeria is the only country on Earth that is like this. When will we ever wake up? ![]() |

Zoning: North plans to scuttle PDP primaries •Hatches fresh plot to stop Jonathan •As Northern govs condemn Reps over Electoral Act Written by Our Reporters Tuesday, 14 December 2010 POLITICAL leaders from the North have resolved to scuttle the forthcoming presidential primaries through the deployment of strategic suits that would be difficult to challenge by the party. Insiders at a meeting of the Northern Elders Assembly (NEA) in Abuja confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune that the Northern elders, in conjunction with the Alhaji Adamu Ciroma-led Northern Political Elders Forum(NPLF), had met to strategise on the way forward in view of the apparent failure of the group to get the court to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting the 2011 elections. Alhaji Sani Aminu Dutsima, who claimed to be a presidential aspirant of the PDP had filed a suit before the Abuja Federal High Court, presided over by the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Lawal Hassan Gunmi, asking the court to stop President Jonathan from contesting the next election on account of the zoning arrangement of the PDP. The arrangement, contained in Article 7.2 (c) of the PDP constitution, 2009, as amended, indicates that political offices shall be open to candidates from all sections of Nigeria. Dutsima, however, insisted that the zoning arrangement recognised by the PDP Constitution should ordinarily rule out President Jonathan since, according to him, the North should be entitled to two terms in office. The court, however, declined to stop Jonathan from contesting the election, saying that zoning is an internal affair of the party. Sources confirmed that a meeting held by NEA leaders, including Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, Bello Kirfi, Tijani Daura, Dalhatu Bashir Dalhatu, Amin Aliyu Dutsima, Isah Salami, Sani Zango-Daura and Fatima Balla, at Bashir Dalhatu’s residence in Abuja, concluded on the need to stop the PDP convention, following the North’s loss at the Abuja High Court. It was confirmed that while Dutsima, who briefed the meeting suggested that he should quickly head to the Court of Appeal and secure an injunction stopping the PDP convention, other members at the meeting said that going to court immediately and securing an injunction now would enable the PDP to react and possibly vacate the injunction. They then agreed that the injunction should be obtained very close to the PDP convention. A source at the meeting stated: “Dutsima told the meeting that now that the PDP has come out with its election timetable, it would be appropriate that after they file the appeal, they should seek a court injunction. However, most of the participants at the meeting disagreed with this suggestion, but they posited that such an action would be too early at this point in time. “They contended that such a move could easily be challenged by the PDP. So the meeting resolved that such a strategy would be better applied when it is close to the primaries/National Convention of the party.” A source said that the meeting was also advised to set aside a huge sum to prosecute the suits. It was also confirmed that the meeting agreed that besides the planned appeal on the Dutsima case, another suit should be filed by the camp of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to seek interpretation of the ruling of Justice Lawan Gunmi. Although the meeting was held when Abubakar was out of the country on a trip to the United Kingdom, it was confirmed that the meeting resolved to meet with him when he returned to the country . A source confirmed thus: “The meeting resolved that Atiku was being expected back in the country between December 3 and 4 and that when he returns, the committee will discuss with him on the possibility of him going to court for the interpretation of the PDP Constitution over the zoning issue.” This will be different from the litigation on the same issue being handled by Dutsima. They believe that this suit could be faster than the appeal by Dutsima. The source said the NEA, which is working closely with the NPLF, was strategising for the consensus option and the northern presidency option from 2011. He added that the NEA and the NPLF had banked on the suit filed by Dutsima as the best option to ease out President Jonathan from the 2011 race, adding that the North was pained that the suit by Dutsima was lost at the high court. It confirmed that some concerned people working from behind actually went to make further inquiries from a judge who assessed the case and declared that it was “a winning one against the president.” It was gathered that based on the technical advice, the committee was already preparing appeal papers in respect of the Dutsima case. The bid, according to sources, was not only to make the case water tight, but also to ensure that the two strategic cases being planned ahead of the PDP convention were “well assisted by this one.” Meanwhile, the Northern Governors’ Forum, in Abuja, on Monday, condemned the move by federal legislators to pass the controversial Electoral Act, saying that “it is very dangerous to democracy.” The chairman of the forum and Niger State governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, addressed the media after the meeting, urging political stakeholders in the country to be wary of the antics of the federal legislators. However, the House of Representatives insists it was yet to pass the Electoral Act as being insinuated by the governors, adding that the passage of the amendment proposed to the Electoral Act would only be passed today if members unanimously agreed to do so. Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune on the issue, the chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Bussiness, Honourable Ita Enang, said state governors were entitled to their own opinion on matters arising. According to him, the protest by the governors on the proposed amendment to the Electoral Act was part of the general views required in passing the amendment, stressing that the House was not in a position to oppose them. The northern governors’ however, called on Nigerians “to be vigilant, to protect and defend democracy and avoid political bickering that will give room for those who do not wish the nation well to take advantage of the differences and disagreements.” Out of the 19 Northern governors that make up the forum, only nine governors and two deputy governors attended the meeting. The nine governors were those of Niger, Kwara, Adamawa, Kaduna, Jigawa, Gombe, Nasarawa, Kogi,Taraba, Sokoto and Zamfara, while the two deputy governors in attendance were those of Kano and Kastina. Governor Aliyu, however, debunked the news doing the rounds that the meeting was held in Abuja as a result of insecurity in Kaduna, adding that “the meeting was held in Abuja for convinence and not due to insecurity as alleged in some national newspapers.” http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/14739-zoning-north-plans-to-scuttle-pdp-primaries-hatches-fresh-plot-to-stop-jonathan-as-northern-govs-condemn-reps-over-electoral-act |

Monster, tyrant, MURDERER No sooner did Buhari/Idiagbon ceased government than the infamous Decree Number Four (DN4) of 1984 was promulgated by the duo; Buhari/Idiagbon became famous for coming down heavily against the Nigerian press, making the report of truth a very serious offence in the country, not many will for get the terrible situation of Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor of the Guardian who were imprisoned for making a ca report on the Government. The Buhari/Idiagbon regime would also executed Bernard Ogedengbe, Bartholomew Owoh and Lawal Ojulope for an offence committed by them as alleged by the regime after a national debate in spite of public pleas, the execution of these gentlemen were made possible by a retroactive decree courtesy of Buhari/Idiagbon regime. |
Visionless kleptomaniac but Buhari who you paint in such glowing colours, still agreed to serve under such a man as the chairman of PTF. As chairman of PTF, he made Salihijo Ahmad's Afriproject the sole consultant for monitoring and assessing the value of contracts. Afriproject consortium was so corrupt that at the inception of Abdulsalami's regime, fearful of exposure, the sole consultant committed suicide in his office. Buhari has no moral standing to point at criminals. He has more than enough questions to answer concerning our US$2.8 billa he nicked as NNPC boss. Only IBB surpasses that scale of theft. Shagari's regime (1979-1983), incurred Buhari's wrath when it decided to investigate the US$2.8 billion that disappeared from the Midland Bank, London account of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, (NNPC), during General Obasanjo's era as military head of state that preceded Shagari's. Dr. Olusola Saraki, Turaki of Ilorin, was the majority party leader of the Senate at the time and he headed the Senate Committee set up to trace the stolen money after some three years of clamour for such an investigation by members of the civil society. The money was traced to the Midland Bank London branch fixed account of Buhari, Obasanjo's appointee as military head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. The Committee's report was presented to the Senate during the tail end of Shagari's regime in 1983, so the House decided to deal with the matter soon after the 1983 general elections.http://www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/34773/1/is-the-north-incapable-of-giving-us-quality-leader.html Damn!! |
Clueless thief and tyrant On the 31st December, 1983, Buhari struck, under the cover of the political commotion that trailed the Presidential election results of the time. In reality, power was seized for the opportunity to destroy documents relating to the NNPC’s missing US$2.8 billion oil money, and punish all those involved in unraveling the scam. Politicians and critics, including Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, notorious for clamouring for the exposure of the oil money rogue Minister of Obasanjo’s military epoch, were locked up without trial. Buhari’s regime had a penchant for incarcerating all and sundry.http://thewillnigeria.com/mobile/opinion/4329-BUHARI-ATIKU-AND-REST.html |
Weakling with no agenda Buhari generally had no agenda for leadership but vendetta against those he called critics and rabble-rousers. After consigning the vexatious matters that brought him to power, to administrative oblivion with the help of Shinkafi, his Secret Service guru, Buhari announced his readiness to quit office.http://thewillnigeria.com/mobile/opinion/4329-BUHARI-ATIKU-AND-REST.html |
Weakling Not much is known about Buhari’s family background. Not a great deal has been heard about his educational qualifications either. As head of state, he was a recluse to the core. At least, that was the image he portrayed. His deputy, the late Gen. Idiagbon, was considered by most Nigerians to be the star of Buhari’s regime. It is to Idiagbon that any credit due to that regime is generally attributed. Idiagbon was the defacto head of state.http://thewillnigeria.com/mobile/opinion/4329-BUHARI-ATIKU-AND-REST.html |
