There is no strife between Ijaw and Itsekiri. The article does't even mention any, instead what we have is various NL tribalists sitting on the thread and hyping their foolish tribal opinions. I recently posted an article in which the king of Ogbe-Ijo (the Ijaw group in Warri) pledged support for Uduaghan. In that article, his grouse was that Urhobo people (Delta Central) control the state and that it remains the turn of Delta South, whom both Ijaw and Itsekiri belong to. That surely doesn't sound like Ijaw vs Itsekiri to me; in fact what traction can both groups get without Urhobo and Igbo? This crap topic is just something for tribalists to latch unto as a long range attack on GEJ, who surprise, surprise is pushing the Uduaghan ticket. Delta state looks like an easy target for anti-GEJ fools, but the Urhobo and Igbo will not allow it; infact if it gets too petty and irritating, we will see ACN sweep the state under an Urhobo man with both Ijaw and Itsekiri losing out. People need to sit back and think so they do not get exactly what they are asking for. Delta state is a model state in Nigeria where minorities can rule, we need to keep it that way. |
Life is too cheap in Nigeria. Why would people beat an elderly person to death for no reason? In my opinion, the real reason is poverty. We need to create value for life in the country, and the only way to do that is by increasing its quality. we need to reach out and touch the most wretched so that desperation does not destroy their morality and force them to commit needless crimes. |
It is shocking to see Abagworo team up with a foreign maggot. Dude, grow some balls and learn to take a firm stand on any issue that affects you. That is true manhood, trying to please the crowd like a coward will only see you crowned a coward. @OnlyTruth Don't let blathering clowns who a too scared to stand one way or the other bother you. |

Its Vettel for poll! Vettel Lewis Alonso Webber . . .Of course, the rest don't matter! Webber lost his mojo big time! The champ is gonna be between Lewis and Vettel. Webber is surely gonna take Alonso out in desperation! Wikid, all or nutin, damn, fcking race tomorrow! ![]() |

If it had been IBB, he would have bribed everybody. |
MzDarkSkin:Damn! I once had a girlfriend who knew all the Liberian topshots and she could never break it down like this. On second thoughts though, all the Liberians we pallied with were Americo-Liberians. . . .Again, damn! I'm gonna check every single word you said above to make sure they pass muster. |
homerac7:Well said my broda! |
Oga Jarus! Please delete this thread. It is far too useless to be on NL; https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-550301.0.html You might even consider banning the OP for ever and ever! ![]() |
I don't get this topic! Why should it be only Southern Nigerian’s cooperating? Is Southern Nigeria a country on its own? It would be understandable if you were talking about a specific political goal, but here you are yarning about meteorites! Abeg, mods come and delete this yeye thread jare! |

jason12345:They can form their own bond, indeed all MiddleBelt PDP chieftains have pledged support, same goes for some core Northern states like Sokoto and Katsina. Creating consensus and being diplomatic does not mean GEJ should roll over for any fckers though; naturally there are the Ciroma's left who should be shown the possibility of the four walls of a jailhouse and if they persist, that threat should be made real. |
Onlytruth:Jonathan is an introvert, thats why the average Nigerian see's him as weak etc. But he is a very sharp individual who has always outmaneuvered his opponents. Never underestimate a quiet man. |
Good article. Both regions need to cooperate, I will always pursue that agenda, because our political goals are identical, just as our deprivation is identical. I will not stop at both regions cooperating though, they also need to reach out to the Middle Belt, SW and core North. Naturally, we are closer to the Middle Belt and SW than we are to the core North and that worldview should dictate our politics. We can interface with the core North through the Middle Belt. |
@jason12345 This is a simple test. Do you mind defining federal and unitary governments and providing a couple of pros and cons? I am asking, because your arguments do not match any known pros and and cons, they seem to express fear of changes or protection of the status quo. Please prove me wrong. |
jason12345:The sort of fear and distrust you are exhibiting here, is the reason why Nigeria is still an unsure baby at 50. Other nations of the same age are now developed (eg check out Malasia who got palm nuts seeds from us). Its either we man up or get consigned to the rubbish heap. There is no country on Earth that practices the corruption promoting, tribalism promoting sham Nigeria labels federalism. |
jason12345:That is just so untrue. Why would semi-autonomous people stock up weapons when they have achieved their dream? Do you fight somebody after he has apologised and righted the wrongs against you, especially when you never fought all the time you were oppressed? True federalism is the only solution to Nigeria's problems. Abagworo:Ignorance is the problem here. Do you think anybody can talk about true federalsim without a mandate to do so by voters? More than that, do you think that the current democracy is a dictatorship in which the President can wake up in the morning and just declare true federalism? bros, you don't need to comment on everything na! You de bring yourself out. |
Abagworo:The ex-MEND people have stopped fighting. We need to flush out the "new" MEND that don't even know how to spell Niger Delta. Imagine a MEND that spells Niger Delta as Niger Delter? They clearly aren't people with an ND cause, they are just using the name MEND, even oyibo people have detected that they are fake. Yeah! so let the army flush out the fckers, ND people will turn out enmass to help in the effort to rid the creeks of those fcking pretenders, usurpers, criminals and political thugs. . . .http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5h75tInaJxdemVnD_acc7HMMSPGLA?docId=5084784 |
Abagworo:Speak, my son! ![]() |
silami:What do you mean, stop the amnesty? Do you want to stop Nigeria? All the ex-MEND men under the amnesty are well trained and could not be defeated by the JTF. Do you think the army is peopled by foolish folk who don't know when to give up? If JTF could win by force of arms, there would be no amnesty today. The amnesty has its warts, in that it includes some known criminals, but it hosts some pretty deadly, well trained fighters who have a very genuine cause. Lets not be ignorant or it will be last prayer time. |
It is foolish to just say, do not canvass war. In fact, such an attitude could see war foisted on the unwary. We need to ask ourselves the reasons for war and actively negate such reasons. In simple words, we need to solve our problems or we might be caught unawares; if a man in the North takes up arms, we need to listen to his reasons; if a man in the Niger Delta takes up arms, we need to listen to his reasons. There is usually a deadly underlying reason that can be found with a little investigation; that reason might be a genuine cry out or it might be that the man is being used because desperation or unusual poverty or exploitaion or illiteracy. In any event, there is always an underlying reason that can only be reached by listening and reasoning. Unforetunately, the qualities of listening, reasoning and deep thinking are not practiced by the average Nigerian. We are still caught up in the command mentality of yesteryears; that singular weakness can bring war on us, even if we wear out our knees in incessant prayer and bore the Heavens with inane wishes. Lets tackle the issues and stop wishing. |
Abagworo:What is the purpose of all the derogatory names? Whats the matter with you? And you wonder why you are seen as one of NL's top tribalist's? Dude, you can be a militant, kidnapper, armed robber or whatever. In time, you will be fished out. |
I smell a rat. Something doesn't sound right about any this. Is Nigeria scared off becoming a tool in the battle between the US and Iran? On the one hand, the US is ratchetting up its anti-Iranian retoric, on the other, we get an incredibly high level visit from the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Nothing in the article sounds logical or right, but lets see how things play out. |
Arms Shipment: Nigeria Threatens To Drag Iran To UN •As Iran Okays Interrogation Of Citizen Written by Our Reporters Saturday, 13 November 2010 Nigeria plans to report Iran to the United Nations Security Council if it finds any evidence that an illegal arms shipment it seized two weeks ago broke UN sanctions, Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Odein Ajumogobia, said on Friday. Ajumogobia met his Iranian counterpart, Manouchehr Mottaki, recently to discuss the shipment intercepted by Nigeria’s security agencies in Lagos and found to contain rockets and other explosives. “The consignment did originate from Iran. That’s been confirmed from our own shipping documents and the Iranian Foreign Minister,” Ajumogobia told a news conference. He said he did not believe the shipment had broken UN sanctions imposed over Iran’s refusal to halt a sensitive nuclear programme, but that Nigeria would act if it found evidence to the contrary. “The Security Council’s resolution to which Nigeria was party was dealing with nuclear materials. There’s no indication that’s implicated here,” Ajumogobia said. “If Nigeria finds in the conclusion of investigations that there has been a breach of any sanctions, as a member of the UN council we would do what is necessary,” he said. Diplomats in New York have said Iran could be in breach of the UN sanctions regime, which forbids it from exporting any kind of weapons directly or indirectly, if the seized arms were originally loaded on its territory. Ajumogobia also told Reuters Mottaki promised Iran’s co-operation with an investigation into the shipment. He said Nigeria’s security services had been given access to an Iranian wanted for questioning in connection with the shipment who had taken refuge in Iran’s embassy in Abuja. “One of the individuals connected with the shipment was an Iranian national. We understand from security reports he took refuge in the Iranian embassy,” Ajumogobia said. “Following a very productive meeting with the Iranian (foreign) minister last night, access to the individual has been given to the Nigerian security agencies,” he said. “We may not be able to question the diplomat because that would contravene international law and I wish to add that contrary to what the security services have been saying, the weapons were meant to be transshipped to The Gambia,” he said. The minister gave the name of the Iranian, who is now taking refuge within the country’s embassy in Abuja, as Azimi Agajani with visa dated July 14, 2010, whereas the diplomat was simply identified as Saed. The weapons, which were described as similar to those used against United States forces in Afghanistan, were conveyed to the port by MV CMA-CGM Everest registered in Marshall Islands and owned by a shipping company in France. http://www.tribune.com.ng/sat/index.php/front-page-articles/2545-arms-shipment-nigeria-threatens-to-drag-iran-to-un-as-iran-okays-interrogation-of-citizen.html |
Dude, so many are against you because you go around the place attacking NLers, even those like me who have absolutely nothing against the Igbo's. You have no sense.

Abeg, good people, lets tone down arguments about Cuba, Mexico, Florida etc and focus on how best to improve the structures that can take Nigeria foward. In my opinion, we need to deviate from our current unitary system to true federalism, we can fill books discussing the benefits of such a move. It will have the effect of turning an old worn out, near dead goat into an all conquering, hyper-randy sire! ![]() We also need to treat the scale of illiteracy in the country as a national emergency and create unorthodox but effective ways of rapidly educating our people. |
koruji:Jonathan and Ribadu represent the future. Jonathan especially, represents the opening of locked gates for the common Nigerian. People like Buhari and IBB have been tested and spat out, they got Nigeria into the rotten position it now occupies. The likes of Buhari and IBB thrived in a command structure that is the bedfellow of a unitary system. Along with that command structure came disdain for "bloody" civilians who soon learnt that the shortcut to one-upmanship in the slightest debate was to get their military relations involved to literarily kick arse. That was the birth of our current "do you know who I am?" culture, it was the birth of our siren culture and our winner takes all, do or die politics. The Buhari's and IBB's of Nigeria should really be in jail for stealing the happiness of generations of Nigerians and the treason of kidnapping 150 million people and holding them hostage with the very weapons their taxes bought to enhance and ensure their security. Rather, they are again, seeking the highest office. For what? Buhari also needs to explain how the $2.8 billion oil money that went missing was traced to his London Midland Bank account. IBB needs to tell us about our missing $12.4billion windfall oil money. The unitary system represents all that is bad about Nigeria. We have been bequeated an upside down structure by barely literate soldiers, the like of Buhari and IBB. It is a structure only suited to dictatorship and tyranny and antithetiacal to development, individual creativity and freedom. It is a system that actively kills healthy competition between rival regions with its free oil money to states. The states have all become lazy and produce next to zero. But there is a reason why we have our crazy architecture. . . Every fcking Kobo of our oil money was meant to feed only a single pocket and that pockets cronies. So, are you looking for the roots of Nigeria's endemic corruption? Look no further than bastar'ds like Buhari and IBB. True federalism alone, will save Nigeria. |
More than likely, Ciroma is battling for relevance and brown envelopes. Regardless, he and his crew of bats represent the greatest danger to Nigeria and Jonathan. Ciroma represents the last of a dying breed, a greedy cabal that will sell their owns kids last drop of milk to line their pockets. Ciroma and Jonathan will never be on the same side of the fence. Ciroma will fall in line to save face or go to jail, but Jonathan will never compromise. |
Abagworo:May the souls of the innocent child and the Policeman rest in peace. You're funny! When did any so called Efik/Ibibio militia begin operating in Delta state. Abeg, clean your eyes jare! This is the same way Jonathans house was bombed, but then you guys have answers to everything. The last I heard, Delta state was made up of Isoko, Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo, but tell me a bit more about the Efik's and Ibibio's of Delta state, tell me some new outlandish tale. |

I hope Webber wins it, or better still the man in wearing a yellow helmet in the silver glittering auto wins it. ![]() |
