Arewa youths urge Jonathan to run Nduka Chiejina 27/06/2010 01:26:00 Nigerian Youths of Northern extraction have dissociated themselves from the loud calls from powerful Northern politicians that the next president should come from the region. Rising after their meeting in Abuja, the Arewa Youths for Goodluck (AYG) described the 48-man team pushing for the continuation of the zoning arrangement as "toothless bulldogs". National Coordinator of the group Mr. Kevin Chrisanthus Tizhe told The Nation that they "intend to stop them (48-man pro zoning team) by campaigning vigorously for the candidature of his Excellency President Goodluck Jonathan giving that they all put together have not done anything tangible to alleviate the dreadful poverty in northern Nigeria". The group accused the pro-zoning politicians of "under developing the region to enrich their families and a candidate among them is saying youths have no experience. They have squandered their chance and generation and are trying to distort ours also". According to Tizhe "the 48 people they are putting together to fight President Goodluck Jonathan are only doing it for their selfish aim and will never succeed as their gathering is even a contravention of the constitution of the federal republic." On President Jonathan’s decision to remain silent on his participation in the 2011 elections, Tizhe noted that "being mute on his intention is not to heat up the polity because of the unreasonable politicians from the north. We support that for now". They however urged Jonathan "to come out and declare because we have a plan on ground to organise a massive rally in the north to press him to declare his intention and believe me, every right thinking person from the north supports our position". He added that they are watching with keen interest happenings in the political circle especially as it relates to statements and alignment of political forces in the run up to the 2011 presidential election. The group then called "on every right thinking northerner and Nigerian to ignore them and their group," while also "asking that all necessary support be given the president of the federal republic Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in his bid to solve the power problem and also support him so that he will continue as president of the federal republic come 29th may, 2011." They further condemned the ruling Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) zoning formula, describing it as unconstitutional and capable of causing discord and producing incompetent leaders in the country. Competence, patriotism and good leadership abilities, they argued, should be the characteristics that should determine who leads Nigeria and not regional or ethnic bias. They described Jonathan "as a very competent leader, having garnered experience as a public servant, as deputy governor, as governor and as vice president and acting president. He is incorruptible and possesses all the qualities that Nigerians want to see in their leaders." http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/news/3713.html |
tpiah:I can understand if there is no mop in Dugbe market. But, the first mop I ever saw was in Nigeria and the first mop I ever used was in Nigerie too. @topic I have always feared the island because, there are no flood defences and the sea breaches the shores annually. . . One day monkey go go market e no go return. |
Kobojunkie:Rubbish. @topic It would seem that waving the torch of freedom is the most powerful weapon against Nigeria's deeply entrenched corrupt forces. Lets have free & credible elections without any powerful rigging machines and we would see how long those professional leaches and thieves will remain. |
Shell also ordered the death of Saro Wiwa for poking too far and demanding human rights; and the federal govt killed him and 8 others. |
Shell not honest on oil leaks in Nigeria By Ben Ezeamalu June 25, 2010 05:20AM The Friends of the Earth Netherlands, an international non-governmental organisation, have said that Shell, a multinational oil company, is refusing it and three Nigerians the right to inspect key documents that would offer more insight into the circumstances surrounding oil leaks from the company's oil pipelines in the Niger Delta. The request for access is part of a lawsuit brought by four Nigerian farmers and fishermen and Friends of the Earth Netherlands against the oil company, charging the company with polluting the Delta region with oil. The lawsuit, legally presented in a court of law in The Hague, where Shell's international headquarters is also located, consisted of three instances of oil leaks in the Nigerian villages of Oruma, Goi, and Ikot Ada Udo. Request denied Friends of the Earth Netherlands and the Nigerians submitted an exhibition request (request for disclosure) in court, where inspection of thirty internal Shell documents was requested. According to the non-governmental organisation, the oil company refused on purely legal and formal grounds to release any of the documents. It also alleged that Shell denied the existence of some of the requested documents, such as the journals required by Nigerian law, which would have revealed the day-by-day reports of the effects of the oil leaks. Geert Ritsema, international spokesman for Friends of the Earth Netherlands, said that the residents in the oil rich communities have been forced to live in the filth left behind by the company, with no source of income for years now. "This refusal is typical for Shell. The company simply refuses to take any real responsibility for creating massive oil pollution in Nigeria. Shell consistently imposes various judicial obstacles in its attempt to essentially prevent the case from being heard before a judge. Meanwhile, it has steadfastly refused to seriously invest in a region that it has used until the present day as a cash cow with impunity," he said. Special session Friends of the Earth said that with the documents they have requested, they want to bring to light additional evidence to support the chief argument in their lawsuit - that Shell's Dutch headquarters is ultimately responsible for its Nigerian subsidiary, and thus, also for the leaks covered in the lawsuit. Requests have also been filed to inspect documents concerning specific leaks that occurred in the villages of Oruma and Goi. They also said that their lawyer is going to request a special session in a court of law in The Hague, where Shell will be required to explain why it has refused to produce any of the requested documents. "Shell is now creating the impression that it has something to hide," Mr. Ritsema pointed out. "If the company is so convinced that it is not doing anything wrong in Nigeria, why not just make public the very documents that could prove this?" Friends of the Earth Netherlands has estimated that the amount of oil that has leaked into Nigeria's environment over the past fifty years is almost five times the amount of oil that the BP platform has leaked into the Gulf of Mexico thus far. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5585166-146/shell_not_honest_on_oil_leaks.csp |
. . . Helloo! If Jonathan has not said he was quoted out of context, who is a third party to do so? Methinks some of our political sabre tooths are about to be defanged! . . .And they dread the prospect! |
INEC: PDP disputes Jonathan’s claim on Jega’s appointment By Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja Saturday, 26 Jun 2010 The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has disputed a report credited to President Goodluck Jonathan that the top hierarchy of the party is not happy with his appointment of Prof. Attahiru Jega as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission. A News Agency of Nigeria report carried by most Nigerian dailies on Friday, quoted President Jonathan as saying in Toronto, Canada on Wednesday that party officials didn’t want Jonathan to appoint an independent minded candidate. ”When we nominated Prof. Attahiru Jega as the INEC Chairman, some members of our party came to me asking, ‘Jonathan do you want PDP to win these elections?‘ ”They said the nominee is a radical who will not succumb to any pressure. I told them that we must work hard and as well present the best candidates because there would be no room for manipulations. ”Whoever emerges as winners of the election at the federal and state levels, irrespective of party affiliation, shall be declared winner.” But in a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Ahmed Alkali, on Friday, the party said it was not afraid of Jega as the new INEC boss. To show its support, Alkali said the party was among the first political parties to congratulate Jega immediately his appointment was approved by the National Council of States. The PDP said it was of the opinion that the President was quoted out of contest. The statement reads, ”Our attention has been drawn to screaming headlines in some newspapers alleging that the PDP is scared of Prof. Attahiru Jega‘s choice as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC). ”Contrary to the insinuation in the reports, the Peoples Democratic Party welcomes the nomination and confirmation of Prof. Jega in view of his unblemished reputation as a patriotic Nigerian, distinguished scholar and an accomplished administrator. It is in recognition of all these that the PDP was among the first to congratulate him when his nomination was announced. ”We wish to state categorically that President Goodluck Jonathan was quoted completely out of context during his interaction with the Nigerian Community in Canada. ”We wish to reiterate that Prof. Jega‘s choice is further proof of President Goodluck Jonathan‘s commitment to free, fair and credible elections. ”We wish to re-emphasise here that the Party is excited with (sic) the new team at INEC and will give every necessary support to ensure that they succeed in giving Nigerians an electoral system that is durable and credible.” Meanwhile, the PDP has also expressed regret over the sudden death of its former national secretary, Chief Bernard Eze, who died on Thursday in Abuja. Eze, who was also a national auditor of the party, was among those who aspired to replace the party‘s former national chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, until the emergence of Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo few days ago. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201006262571050 |

1. Check that $_POST['matricno'] is not null. Do something like echo $_POST['matricno']; Better still (recommended practise); extract($_POST); $matricno=$_POST['matricno']; $level =$_POST['level']; $semester =$_POST['semester']; //check that form variables are not returning null, otherwise don't even bother with the database if (isset($_POST['matricno']) && isset($_POST['level']) && isset($_POST['semester']) ) { //build select query $query= "SELECT * FROM student WHERE matricno LIKE '$matricno' AND level LIKE '$level' AND semester LIKE '$semester'"; //open database mysql_select_db($database_dj, $dj); $result = mysql_query($query, $dj) or die(mysql_error()); //query students affair database if(!($result=mysql_query($query, $dj))) { print("could not execute query!" ;} // end if mysql_close($dj); } else { echo “A required form variable isn’t set”; } 2. Check your connection string, it is failing, if your database isn't connected, which will also result in undefined variable messages. |
Enyeama moving to Man U would only make me even more of a Man U supporter. How many men were in our World Cup team? Just one, Enyeama! Great clubs need the very best and Enyeama is it. With his display against Argentina, he is possibly the best in the World. It was absolutely phenomenal! van der Sar can't touch him with a pole in any area except height wise (he is 6 ft 5.5 in, Enyeama is 5 ft 11 in). |
It is Yakubu. |
There is no reliable way to do that. Instead, you can encrypt the folder it is saved into with something like truecrypt or pgp. Just run the decryption steps, enter your password and click the exe when you need it. A good password keeps the girlfriend at bay. ![]() |
Becomrich0:Damn! The master has blessed us with his presence. O great Mapomeji, you are welcome! many happy returns. Can someone please give becomeriches number to Jonathan? We want him to resign so becomerich can take over and lead us into Benin Republic! ![]() |
agabaI23:Surprise! They were sandbagging all that time. Valencia is a difficult track to overtake on and Lewis has some of grids most aggressive drivers ahead, so I'm a bit cautious about Lewis chances of an outright win. But if there's driver who can do it, its the best overtaker in F1, Lewis. |
Dis Guy:Yeah, it could have been a surprise poll position if not for those errors (he did the same at the first corner). Poor Alonso, he really hasn't helped himself with his tantrums! I don't think he'll be shunting Lewis off the road because it will be the final nail in peoples opinions about his character and will likely affect his carreer (just as blackmailing McLaren slowed his progess into Ferrari). Moodiness and F1 don't match, an example is the talented Montoya who faffed of to those boring US circuits in a red rage. He would have been among the top guy's now, if he'd had a cooler head. There was a recent interview with the Spanish press in which Alonso and Lewis were asked exactly the same question, "would you have Lewis / Alonso as your team mate again? Lewis said, yes he would, that their previous experience had been interesting. Alonso's answer was a single word; "No". |

I think he is by far the best out there. |
Mercedes "blown diffuser" seems to have blown their chances! Rosberg and Scumacher haven't made it into Q3 (Rosberg 12th and Scumacher 15th in Q2). |
He said that the northern political elite had then agreed, at a meeting in Kaduna, that the South West should be allowed to produce the president.Interesting! Some really think they own the country. |
Here's the latest viral video of a trick McLaren played on both their drivers. It's turned out they both genuinely didn't know they were being had! ![]() [flash=640,385] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zf40OzfwOo&hl=en_GB&fs=1&[/flash] I'll see if I can get the video from the filming Alonso did last week. |
Practice 3 is finished. Button came 9th and Lewis was 10th. It is going to be a really tough weekend of tears for them and all McLaren fans, except they are sandbagging (very doubtful). . . .Just watching 3rd and final practise. It looks like its gonna be between the Red Bulls and Alonso (Massa is misfiring), with Kubica and Rosberg filling in. Its gonna be a long, sad weekend for McLaren. Also, watch out for the Force Indias, this weekend might spring a few surprises. |
FL Gators:Please forgive and forget o! I really tried my best Ijeshatedo accent, but e no work! |
