So classifying Yar'adua's efforts as 'never been able to even get it going', like the topic was erectile dysfunction, is your idea of giving due credit? undecided
If you want to credit it as he deserves, you should say so genuinely and unequivocally, not  take some cheap shot at the guy.

It seems you lack comprehension skills. At what point did ethnic bigotry apply to only people of the same tribe or do you not know the meaning of ethnic bigotry?  undecided

Your failure to provide a valid reason for deliberately crediting the good works of a northerner to an undeserving southerner from your geo-political zone can only lead to the logical conclusion that your actions were borne out of ethnic bias against the northerner and/or unabashed sycophancy to your region.
Clown. Why is Jonathan an "undeserving southerner"?
Did he not share the same ticket as Yar Adua?
Tell me who the tribalist is now? You are as mad as Tanko Yakasai. NL bully.

@beaf truth be told, presido in absentia should actually be credited with this deregulation thingy. Infact i heard that cooking gas might soon become cheaper than kero if the masterplan is followed through. But of course credit too has to go to Jonathan for not reversing the whole thing like Yardua did to our modern rail way system conceived by Obj.
I already did that here https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-406672.0.html#msg5621527.

Jonathan has done nothing commendable yet, and until he does so, the credit for the NNPC reform goes to Umaru 'the living dead' Yar'adua

Infantile.

I choose to credit Jonathan, because I wish to. A thousand bullies will not change that.
You are really the one who is tribalisic. How else can you feel that anybody hailing Jonathan must be Ijaw? . . .So tiny minded, did you breastfeed?

In fact what has jonathan done (besides continuing from where Yar'adua left off) that makes him derserving of any credit on the process? undecided
It is obvious that, for subjective reasons, you are finding it difficult to credit Yar'adua for his effort, and would rather appropriate it to Jonathan. This is why Akanbi accused you of being  motivated by ethnic bias.
Abeg go and rest jare! There is no point in being dishonest and hanging like a coward unto the foolish, gutter arguments of another person.

Beaf wat Akanbi has bin tryin to tel u all along is dat Yaradua started d deregulation of the NNPC tryin to carry evryone along as against Objs by force method and that is y d credit should first be given to Yaradua nd den Jonathan 4 kipin up wit it and those askin 4 quick implementation shld undastand dat all stakeholders or majority should agree and this involves d labor unions and marketers and even ASUU and so on so progress is stil bein made.
These are things dat I hav seen in dis administration dat has always made it seem as though I'm an apologist 4 d govt, and my support 4 2011 is dat Jonathan should either contest as president or he goes as vice to Yaradua who can remain as sick president 4 his 2nd term nd Jonathan remains Ag President gettin things done while d north can therefore claim their 8yr tenure.
We shld not be deceived any northerner who comes 4 a 1st term in 2011 will want to hold on till 2019 so in d overall interest I pitch my tent wit Yaradua/Goodluck Presidency 4 2011 to continue all their reforms.
Thanks for that. Akanbi didn't need to go the gutter route (like OBJ) to make his point.
I am 100% aware that Yar Adua started the idea, but he has never been able to even get it going. It has been the same story all through with other projects, that is why he earned the nickname, "baba go slow".

Militants blow up Shell flow station in Delta
Written by Monday Osayande – Asaba

A militant group known as Peoples Patriotic Revolutionary Force yesterday blew up the Kokori Field Station operated by Shell at Erhoike community, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The militant group which is an arm of the Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC) Western Division, also threatened to attack any one that crosses its way irrespective of political status.

A statement by the leader of the group, ‘AKA General’ Ogaga “Malcom X Odafe, called the attack “Operation Kokoma Odidimadi”, saying it would not be the last from the group.

It said other impending attacks would be the final onslaught in the region and warned the people of the Niger Delta to get ready for it.

The statement directed Shell and all multinationals oil companies in the region to commence evacuation of personnel from the region.

Although no reason was given for the attack, the group vowed to continue their move to evacuate the oil companies in the region unless a Sovereign National Conference (SNC) is convened.

“We demand for the immediate convocation of the Sovereign National Conference (SNC). It is Sovereign National Conference now”, it said.

Shell’s Precious Okolobo could not be reached on his mobile at the time of filing this report but security agents said they were waiting for Shell’s confirmation of the attack.

The Joint Task Force (JTF) spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Timothy Antigha, said they were waiting for Shell to give details on the incident.

The Yorubas have no right to talk here. Let the Igbos do the talking for it was they who fought the northerners. It was because of them that the White man handed over Nigeria to the Northerners. The Yorubas always stick with the King. The Niger-Deltans were confused during the war. They failed to recognise their heritage in the sense that they weren't there when they were needed. If salvation is going to come again, it's coming from the East. This time, we won't fight with guns, we will fight with our heads cuz our heads do not bow to no man! Igbo kwenu!!!

Jacob Zuma risks diplomatic embarrassment hours before meeting the Queen

Jacob Zuma, the South African president, has risked sparking a diplomatic row after he described the British as condescending imperialists - just hours before meeting the Queen.

By Laura Roberts
Published: 10:04AM GMT 03 Mar 2010

South Africa's President Jacob Zuma arrives with one of his wives, Thobeka Madiba Zuma Photo: REUTERS The 67 year-old accused the UK of feeling culturally superior - which he blamed on Britain's colonial past.

Mr Zuma, who will spend two nights at Buckingham Palace for an official state visit that begins today, is understood to be upset by recent reports of his colourful private life in the British press.

"Bear in mind that I'm a freedom fighter and I fought to free myself, also for my culture to be respected.

"And I don't know why they are continuing thinking that their culture is more superior than others, those who might have said so.

"I am very clear on these issues, I've not looked down upon any culture of anyone, and no one has been given an authority to judge others.

"The British have done that before, as they colonised us, and they continue to do this, and it's an unfortunate thing.

"If people want an engagement, I'm sure we will engage on that issue."

Mr Zuma's comments were published in an interview with South Africa's Independent newspaper group.

The polygamist president, who has three current wives, spoke out yesterday after arriving in Britain with his third and most recent spouse Thobeka Madiba, 38.

The couple are today due to be welcomed by the Queen at Horse Guards Parade before being taken by carriage to Buckingham Palace. This evening they will enjoy a state banquet at the palace.

As a member of the Zulu tribe Mr Zuma is permitted to take multiple wives, but was last month forced to make a public apology after admitting he fathered a love child following an affair with the daughter of a friend.

The African National Congress leader might have hoped the visit to London would help move public attention away from his private life.

A schedule for this week includes meetings with Gordon Brown and opposition leaders David Cameron and Nick Clegg in addition to a speech to MPs in parliament.

Officials today confirmed Mr Zuma intended to continue with the state visit as planned.

His spokesman Vincent Magwenya said the president's comments about the British would have no bearing on the trip.

He said: "Mr Zuma is in the UK for wide-ranging programme of substantial and serious issues.

"The comments he made were not aimed at the British public in general but at certain sections of the media which have lambasted him for what he considers to be his culture.

"Mr Zuma had a meeting with British journalists yesterday and was asked not one question about his private life.

"He does not appreciate reading things which he considers are patronising to his culture.

"Obviously his comments will have no bearing on the state visit.

"Mr Zuma is greatly looking forward to meeting the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh today and will continue with the full programme as planned."

Presidential Advisory Council, Plot to Unseat Yar'Adua-Yakasai
Augustine Madu West
2 March 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kano — A Second Republic presidential adviser, Tanko Yakasai, has described the creation of a Special Advisory Council by acting President, Goodluck Jonathan, as "furtherance of the on-p that will pave way for the Acting President to take over on substantive capacity".

But Deputy Senate President in the Second Republic, Abubakar Mamman Dan-Musa, and former governor of old Kaduna State, Lawan Kaita, held different views as they both agreed that it is a welcome development.

They believe that the development would end the political impasse that has engulfed the country in the past three months following the absence of ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua from the country.

Yakasai, who was ex-President Shehu Shagari's Adviser on National Assembly Matters, said he saw the development coming.

"I saw it right from the beginning, a move to stage a palace coup and the constitution of the 26-member committee by the Acting President is the process to actualise this plot".

The elder statesman who spoke at an interview with Daily Independent on the telephone argued that in "any organisation where you have former Defence Minister, Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is there, just like you cannot separate Prof. Jerry Gana from the former President.

"I see the whole thing as a psychological warfare to prepare the ground for Jonathan to take over power as substantive president".

"Gen. Danjuma was the man who headed the Transition Committee after the election of Obasanjo. To my mind the so-called Presidential Advisory Committee appointed by Goodluck Jonathan is another Transition Committee in disguise pending when the conspiracy to remove Yar'Adua will be executed. I believe the Projects Monitoring Committee headed by Alhaji Ibrahim Bunu is a disguise to probe past activities of the Yar'Adua government."

Also, Kaita, governor of the old Kaduna State and chairman of the Action Congress (AC) Board of Trustee (BoT), said the constitution of the advisory council by Jonathan was a welcome development because it will help douse the anxiety that has engulfed the country.

Dan-Musa, in his own comment, equally welcomed the development, believing that with the calibre of people in the council, the country will witness a positive change.

According to him, it is a clear departure from the PDP tradition of government of exclusion that has heightened tension in the country.
