@Sapele and ndu I sincerely believe that any process toward Yar Adua's impeachment would have swept the nation up into unimaginable chaos. The governors, Senators, Reps and PDP top echelon did the right thing in using the phone call as the tool to install an acting president. I sincerely believe Jonathan should remain acting president as long as he can manage it; the confusion of choosing a deputy is something we can do without as ndu_chucks said. Yar Adua must be given the very best medical attention money can buy. |
i'm sick and tired of this break up news everytime.actions speak faster than this internet propaganda and who the hell is asari to threaten secession .i dont blame him there are no credible elders in niger delta region to silence him
When the elders of the region spoke last week, it was to threaten secession. . . And those are men with some of the most powerful international connections. I'm sure your definition of credible elders are those who nod and wink while the army decimates their communities. Asari is credible and Ijaw, just as Anighoro is credible and Urhobo. The Igbo's (Anioma), Itsekiri's, Isoko's, Ibibio's, Efiks have also spoken in recent days. The South South has succeeded in inter-ethnic unity where Nigeria as a country has failed. It is instructive that the region where secessionist noises are coming from generates all of Nigeria's money, so they far from grandstanding. However, there is always hope that we can forge a new nationwide unity and salvage the whole country. Nobody wants avoidable conflict at this time; secession will always be the last option. . . But never doubt it. |
^ The thing with some Nigerians is that when they look in the mirror, they decieve themselves that the reflection they see is not theirs. Nigeria is a country that isn't founded on deep thought. We budge this and fudge that, shout, fight, cuss and end up behind the spot we started from. What is required reight now are people who can think us out of the chaotic soup we have chosen to exist in; out of this wretched place where agbero methods reign supreme. People like you, with your lopsided reasoning, created the country whose miriad obstacle courses, Jonathan (a Southern minority) now has to navigate; but of course, you can't even see beyond your nose and insist on advocating dangerous rubbish in an already overheated polity. David Mark will never rule Nigeria. Lets allow Jonathan build his support base (he came in with none). He is the same person that sacked every single Alams supporter and overturned Alams policies in Bayelsa when he took over. Except, we have ulterior motives, we have to give him time. He can only be judged in primary areas like electoral reform, power generation and fuel supply; things that he obviously couldn't have achieved in the past two very turbulent weeks he has been acting president. So whats your game? If Jonathan is looking like messing up, I will be the first and earliest to scream. Relax and lets make sure he chooses progressive people to rebuild the country from scratch in North, South, East and West; the whole country is crying out for help. |
MrCrackles:My bad, I misunderstood. I agree. |
nurexg:He has no agenda, he is just a man without a political base. That could be a plus or a minus, depending on what outcomes we want for Nigeria, he must choose the right people and form the right political base to move Nigeria out of mediocrity once and for all. We must cajole him and he must take the batton now and run with it. HE MUST PERFORM. |
They used an upgraded version of HARRP. "Having learnt lessons from our successes in haiti, we have upscaled the configuration of our Remote Tectonic Collisional modules and on this occasion, achieved a disruptive lithospheric infraction of 8.8 magnitude in Chile." |
Gbawe:Fail. You're a funny David Mark lover. You can't even hide that with all your sophistry. Stop the campaign, it is already stillborn, dead before birth; your hero, David Mark planned this whole Turai saga with Bankole and the cabal. Not only did he kick it off with the fake argument he had with Bankole (paving the way for Yar Adua’s disappearance and the “signing” of the supplementary budget), he also shut down all discussion in the senate until Dora’s famous memo punctured the cabals balloon (God bless her). We don't have short memories. Rooting for David Mark under any guise is at best infantile. Worship David Mark all you want but. . . Know when to conquer yourself. . . |

Gbawe:Beer palour oracles and foot mats of David Mark don full NL. ![]() He is our leader and there is little you can do about foisting your beloved David Mark into that position. Is he not the same person that connived with Bankole (staged quarrel over budget presentation, just before Yar Aduas exit) to kick of this whole Turai saga? It is left for us to support him, while he builds a base. Even the legendary OBJ stated very very shakily. . . .Beer palour peeps sha. ![]() I would rather wait a couple of months to form a firm opinion, rather than drawing conclusions from the way rain falls on a wall you can't, for the life of you, peep over. MrCrackles:No you're shitting yourself. Know when to conquer yourself. . . |
naijamini:Seconded. MrCrackles:You unprogressive guys are beginning to sound like scratched record. |
mbulela:Thank you. When Nigeria had OBJ, you lovers of gra-gra were appalled and cowering, now you are launching an underhand campaign for an out and out criminal in David Mark of the 7 day Mutallab ultimatum fame. Some Nigerians can be shocking. Know when to conquer yourself. . . |
^ I believe in the results I see, not any distant beer palour arguments. Jonathan has produced incredible results so far and stands tall nationally and internationally. It is time for Nigerians to learn to engage their brains rather than agbero tactics. What did those who attempted a coup last week acheive? If "ineptitude and docility" is defeating the cabal that has held Nigeria to ransome for decades, then please, lets have more of it. |

It is a statement born of profound wisdom. We need to stand back and give ear to such, even when the blood is boiling. In the face of everything (including an attempted coup), Jonathan, just keeps bobbing right back up. He just keeps winning every bout. Why? He must be confounding quite a few people, especially those used to agbero style politics. But here is a man who knows his own measure and uses his head to brilliant effect; it is a game of chess between an extremly powerful and entrenched cabal and a lonely PHD. Guess who's won every round? Lets leave agbero behaviour and reccommendations behind, we will never develop without displaying civilisation (both in thought and process). Know when to conquer yourself. . . |

A woman is having an affair during the day while her husband is at work. Her nine-year-old son comes home unexpectedly, sees the illegal lovers and hides in the bedroom cupboard to watch. Then the woman's husband unexpectedly comes home. She hides her lover in the cupboard, not realizing that her little boy is in there already. The little Boy says:'Dark in here.' The Man says: 'Yes, it is.' Boy: 'I have a soccer ball, do you want to buy it?' Man: 'No, thanks.' Boy: 'My dad's outside, I'll call him if you don't buy it!' Man: 'OK, how much?' Boy: 'N1000' A few weeks later it happened again and the boy and the lover were in the cupboard together again. Boy: 'Dark in here.' Man: 'Yes, it is.' Boy: 'I have soccer boots.' The Man, remembering the last time, asks the boy: 'How much?' The Boy says :'N5000' The Man says: 'Fine, I will buy them.' A few days later, the Father says to the boy: 'Grab your ball and boots, let's go outside and have a game.' The Boy says: 'I can't, I sold them forN6000' The Father says: 'That's terrible to overcharge your friends like that, N6000is way more than those two things cost. I'm going to take you to church and make you confess your 'SINS.' They go to church and the father makes the little boy sit in the confession booth and he closes the door. The Boy says: 'Dark in here.' The Priest says: 'Don't start that again!' THIS IS MY CHURCH NOT YOUR FATHER'S HOUSE! |
We’ll cripple Nigeria —Militants No Jonathan, no oil. Let them use groundnut to run Nigeria •Ijaw youths ask Yar’Adua to apologize From ISMAIL OMIPIDAN, Kaduna Sunday, February 28, 2010 Push could come to shove with regards to the raging power tussle in the Presidency, if feelers emerging from the Niger Delta are anything to go by. Sunday Sun learnt that groups are being mobilized by concerned leaders in the region to respond to the “dangerous ethnic trend” that had been introduced into the Aso Rock power game. Some key former militant leaders are also said to have been contacted as part of a strategic plan to compel the cabal to stop undermining the Acting President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. One of the former warlords who confirmed this, but spoke on condition of anonymity, said they had watched the developments in the Presidency as it affected Jonathan and decided that it is time to act. “Enough is enough. Since they (the cabal) have decided that Jonathan cannot occupy the office of the President because he is from the Niger Delta, we have also resolved that our oil is not for Nigeria. In fact, we are ready to dismember Nigeria. If they do not want us in Nigeria, they should not want our oil too. “The issue is not about Jonathan, but our region. They have only used Jonathan to tell us to our faces that we are not equal in this country. So, when we start, we will ensure that there is no oil to depend on anymore. Let them use groundnut, hide and skin to run Nigeria. Since force is the language they understand, we will cripple the economy,” our source said, warning that the attacks would not be restricted to the Niger Delta. The source insisted that the amnesty programme under which militants in the region surrendered various sophisticated arms and ammunition in October 2009 was not a hindrance as new weapons could be easily acquired within the country. “We can start another war if we want because getting weapons is not a problem. They are everywhere in the country. You can see that the amnesty has failed, but we have restrained ourselves from going back to the creeks so that we would not be accused of being unpatriotic. But how long are we going to endure the conditions that made us take up arms in the first place?” At the time of this report, tension was said to be high in the region with meetings being held in various areas in the creeks. Sunday Sun gathered that hostilities could resume this weekend. A group under the aegis of the South-South Elders and Leaders Forum had, on Thursday, warned that the region would secede if the cabal continues to treat Jonathan with disdain. Sources in the Presidency confirmed to Sunday Sun that the Acting President had not seen or met with ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua since the latter was brought into the country in an air ambulance in the early hours of last Wednesday. Yar’Adua was for three months hospitalized in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for acute pericarditis. His return to the country was shrouded in secrecy just the way the Saudi authorities ensured he was shielded from Nigerian government officials that visited Jeddah during his hospitalization. Curiously, Yar’Adua’s wife, Turai that was to brief Jonathan on the health condition of her husband on Thursday reportedly shunned the meeting. Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has asked Yar’Adua to apologize to Nigerians for plunging the country into crisis. In an exclusive interview with Sunday Sun, the IYC president, Dr Chris Ekiyor, said a crisis of monumental proportion was imminent because of the prolonged regime of secrecy surrounding Yar’Adua’s health condition and had been fuelled by his secret return into the country. “If it is true that the President has returned to Nigeria, it is good. But let him go ahead and address the nation and even apologise to Nigerians for throwing us into this crisis. Then let him resume office and give us a direction. “There was never a time Dr Jonathan, the Ijaw or even the Niger Delta people prayed that Yar’Adua should not return. We had always prayed for his recovery and return because we believe in the unity of this country. Our worry, however, is that why is he being hidden from the Acting President and the rest of Nigerians?” Ekiyor, who spoke to Sunday Sun at the venue of Niger Delta Peace Consolidation Conference at The Hague in Netherlands, cautioned Nigerians to be wary of the whims of those he described as manipulators in the Presidency. “I don’t believe it is Turai Yar’Adua that is doing the manipulating. Instead, I think some people are using Turai as a front. After all, there is no constitutional provision for the office of the First Lady. Such ceremonial position cannot supersede an elective office. For instance, in France, the wife of the President quit her marriage because she said she wanted a home and not the Presidency. But here, our President’s wife is desperate to hold on to power,” he said. The Ijaw youth leader urged Jonathan to assert himself, saying he must continue to act as president until Yar’Adua is ready to resume office. Stand-off imminent Jonathan may have decided to stand up against the shenanigans of the cabal by asserting his empowerment as Acting President by the National Assembly. A Presidency source informed Sunday Sun at the weekend that he has decided to resist any move by Yar’Adua’s loyalists to reverse the February 9 resolution of the National Assembly as long as the ailing President remains incommunicado and refuses to indicate a readiness to resume office. He is said to have tightened security measures around his office and official residence. “From now, the Acting President will assert his authority. There is a limit to what a man can endure. His loyalty and humility has been taken for granted,” the source said. But Jonathan could confront an alleged move by the dyed-in-the-wool Yar’Adua loyalists to reverse some of the decisions taken by the Executive Council of the Federation under his watch, including the redeployment of the former Justice Minister, Michael Aondoakaa, to the Special Duties Ministry. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/feb/28/national-28-02-2010-02.htm |

major man:That is simplifying issues. . . Turai is the current focal point of a very powerful, corrupt, wicked and evil cabal that has been ruling Nigeria since the 70's. If Jonathan wins this battle desisively, it would be Nigeria true independence day. For that reason, I rally behind Jonathan. |

Yar’Adua’s mother, siblings, not allowed to see him Cover Stories Feb 27, 2010 Just as Ag President Goodluck Jonathan was stopped from seeing returnee President Umaru Yar’Adua, the President’s mother was also yesterday prevented from seeing his ailing son. Also, Yar’Adua’s siblings were blocked when they went to see their brother with their mother, Saturday Vanguard has learnt. Ag President Goodluck Jonathan was twice stopped from seeing the President. No Nigerian government official has seen him either. Summing up all these , former Military Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon, has expressed doubts over the return of President Umaru Yar’Adua, saying there is no proof to that effect. Although the Presidency has issued a statement on Yar’ Adua’s return, Gowon said the return is only a claim as nobody has informed the people, neither has anyone seen the President to confirm the story. To get out of the logjam, Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) and former governor of Kaduna State, Alh. Balarabe Musa asked the Federal Executive Council to issue a statement on the situation on ground, even as Gov Gabriel Suswan of Benue confirmed that the governors were yet to take any decision on the President but will do so when they meet. However, Northen leaders seem to be divided over who is in charge of the country. While former Kano State governor, Abubakar Rimi and Tanko Yakasai, a Second Republic presidential adviser who is among a group that took the National Assembly to court challenging its resolution empowering Vice President Goodluck Jonathan to step in as acting President say the North does not recognise Ag President Jonathan, others from that region such as former EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu and ex Deputy Senate president, Ibrahim Mantu think otherwise. “They know the power game is over and they are trying to reach out by telling Jonathan’s people that they meant well,” one source privy to the development disclosed at the weekend. The reality was further conveyed after some siblings of the President complained that they were not allowed to see their brother on Thursday. The siblings who came to Abuja alongside the President’s mother, Hajia Dada were unable to see the ailing President. Jonathan’s decision to assert authority as articulated by aides and close associates was upon the frustrations he received when he made two abortive attempts to see President Yar‘Adua following the President’s alleged return to the presidential villa on Wednesday morning. Senior government officials confirmed that as at press time neither Dr. Jonathan nor any other government official could see the ailing President. The Acting President’s resolve is being backed by Senators who are claiming ignorance of the President’s return despite a statement issued on his behalf to that effect by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi. The resolution of Dr. Jonathan to continue to steer the course of the nation Saturday Vanguard learnt was upon the embarrassment he suffered when he twice sought to see the President last Wednesday after reports of the President’s return. Sources within and outside the presidency disclosed at the weekend that when Dr. Goodluck heard of the President’s return in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, he waited until dawn to visit the President. Dr. Jonathan according to one source was accompanied by his wife, Patience on the visit but were turned back by aides of the President who claimed that the President was sleeping after the long trip from Saudi Arabia. After waiting for some hours, the Acting President reportedly returned to see the President. “When he came the second time the security men looked at one another and didn’t know what to say again but still held on to their ground that the Acting President could not see the President,” one source privy to the affair disclosed. Dr. Jonathan according to other presidency sources, however, steered away from confronting the aides as he deliberately sidestepped points of confrontation. One potential point of confrontation after the President returned was the council chamber within the Presidential Villa. The scheduled meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on that Wednesday morning was cancelled after security aides of the President took up positions within the council chamber in a seeming demonstration of the return of authority to the President. One top security aide according to one Saturday Vanguard source physically went to stand behind the seat of the President as if to ensure that Dr. Jonathan who started sitting on the seat after the National Assembly resolution empowering him as Acting President did not come near. Saturday Vanguard was not able to confirm suggestions in some circles in Abuja that the seat of the President was removed from the council chambers by the security men of the President in a bid to stop Dr. Jonathan from sitting on it. The security aides of the President it was further gathered selected ministers they greeted as they made a deliberate effort to snub those they perceived were supporters of the Acting President. Dr. Jonathan it was learnt subsequently decided to cancel the meeting in order not to provoke a backlash that could damage the presidency Dr. Jonathan who has been criticized for not being assertive has, however, told associates that he would not provoke a fight that could damage the image of the presidency. Associates of both President Yar‘Adua and Acting President Jonathan insist that only a few aides and associates of the President are involved in the seeming hide and seek game that is being played out within the presidency. Dr. Jonathan is nevertheless said to be determined that the collective interest of the presidency is not damaged by any kind of doublespeak from the presidency. One such example of doublespeak that aggravated the situation was the public announcement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media, Mr. Adeniyi on behalf of the President. The announcement which did not recognize Dr. Jonathan as Acting President was described as condescending and an affront not only to Dr. Jonathan but also to the National Assembly which empowered him as the Acting President. Meanwhile Senators are affirming that they would not recognize the President’s return to the country until he transmits a letter of his return to the National Assembly. Some other Senators are even insisting that beyound transmitting a letter that the President should be seen to be fit and capable before being empowered with the authority of his office. The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark is seemingly following the steps of fellow Senators as in his Eid-Mullud greeting yesterday he deliberately side-stepped the contentious issue of the President’s return. Rather, the Senate President sought for more prayers for the President even as he asserted that the country was greater than any one individual or group of persons. Senator Mark who is known to have strong sympathies for President Yar‘Adua is believed to be unhappy with his aides who sources close to him accuse of using the President’s name for their selfish reasons. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/02/27/yaraduas-mother-siblings-not-allowed-to-see-him/ |
