Politics / Re: Soyinka As Okonkwo In 'things Fall Apart'! by Beautifulday: 4:03pm On May 24
Soyinka has been against the ideology Obi brought to the nation's polity because it goes against his ideology of keeping Nigeria down in the hands of a few who believe they fought for her independence

Shevchenkko:
Soyinka is an old fool. At this point that Nigerians are passing through hell, what he's interested in is talking down on Peter Obi to diminish his chances in 2027 instead of challenging Tinubu to buckle up

He is one of those who brought Nigeria where she is now. When he spoke and protested against Jonathan. Many thoughts his intelligence was high enough to forecast tomorrow.

When he presented Buhari as a better alternative. People were surprised but for his likes to say they would prefer Buhari without a certification of any kind to Jonathan with numerous accolades made people think, there is something about Buhari these guys know that we don't know.

He has come again to play another god

They no born am well to caution Tinubu.

It is not about them born am well or them no born am well to speak about this regime.

It is about maintaining the old order. Where a Nigerian is accessed based on who is his sponsor or who his father is not based on what contribution he can make.

You are the fool here. It doesn't matter what happens in 2027. I am concerned about people whom we once reverend as super intellectuals showing they were just book smart and nothing near intellectuals.

Politics / Buhari Fit To Preside Over Nigeria But Not Obi by Beautifulday: 3:27pm On May 24
Soyinka just said a fews days ago that Peter Obi is not fit to govern Nigeria not because he is not competent but because those who support him aren't push over kind of supporters.

This same man has been pride to be one of the best brain to have been produced and exported by this nation. This pride of brain power foresaw the disaster as claimed by him and his cult colleagues of erudite scholars that president Jonathan's government will destroy Nigerian economy. They pushed herds of multitude who like sheep has no minds of their own to protest against Jonathan government.

The reason for the protest was that fuel price was too costly at 87 naira and dollar exchange to naira which stood at $1 to 250 naira was too high.

This same Naustradamus aka Soyinka saw with his future telescope that Buhari was the answer to our economic woes. He fought tooth and nail along his colleagues to make Buhari president.

Buhari's president drop price of fuel from the self style abysmal 87 naira to 600 naira and move the exchange rate from 250 naira per dollar to 700 naira.

Before I proceed further, I will like to draw your attention to the profile of Jonathan and Buhari.

Before becoming the president of Nigeria, Jonathan was a lecturer, a deputy governor and a vice president. Buhari on the other hand was emersed in waec scandal. It was seriously contested that the man didn't have secondary school certification.

The erudite scholar and his colleagues of intellectuals said and I quote, "even if Buhari present a tissue paper, we will accept it over university certification".

This is the reason history was removed from our educational system because we will come to see how empty our educational idols are when presented side by side with outside the classroom situation.

This same scholar said a few days ago that he hope Obi doesn't contest again. His reason is because Obi's supporters do not agree with his intelligence in choosing who should preside over the nation. Therefore, Obi is disqualified not on his incapabilities but on the incapabilities of his supporters.

This is quoter system at play here. As a kid, we were told of the exploit of this same Soyinka in fighting against quoter system. A system where one is judge not based on merits and capabilities but based on who you know and where you came from.

Like Obi said, "I am fighting to be the president to change the system so that the son of nobody can be judged based on his capabilities not on who is his sponsor or where he is coming from".

These men are out to keep the old order in place because it favors their children not because they love the nation more than any of us.

Actually I didn't mean to call any business unbefitting but I just couldn't find a better word to explain my point.
What I meant is seeing a master degree holder doing some business that many people would say it's below thier standard as graduate. For instance when your course mate sees you riding okada while he's in his clean suit and long tie, whereas your earnings in a week can pay off his two months salary.

You never serious with life

The part that got me is, "I will tell my kids and grandkids we fought for the liberation of this nation"

I hope the kids will not equate the foresights of those who lived during Buhari and Tinubu with early men.

I was dissatisfied with the government of President Jonathan. I felt pity for my friends, relatives and Nigerians who suffered the excesses of the present government. I joined the fight for the will of Nigerians to prevail. I joined voluntarily, not offered anything by anyone. I am proud, finally.

Never again will Nigerians suffer the severe incompetence of any government. We have registered our presence. Power belongs to all of us and we must use that power till we get justice! I will have something to tell my kids and grandkids. We fought for the liberation of this nation!

Congratulations to General Muhammadu Buhari on your election!

Congratulations to you, Nigerians, you are the real winner!

Our revolution finally happened. The world has got something to learn from us. I remember those who have fallen beyond in the course of this great fight. You will be remembered, your blood is not in vain as finally victory is achieved!

God Bless Nigeria!

Update Oct 19 2021: I no longer hold these views or support the despot in Aso Rock. I stopped supporting him since 2016, just one year after he was elected. Please stop pulling up old threads like this just to make yourself feel like a genius. Focus your efforts on those who saw the catastrophe and still re-elected him in 2019.

Thank you for the update though 😃

Every State governor has been doing such in different ways not only to the military.
Even the NPF benefits from such largese of security vote. That is why the States needs to commence their own State Police so that they can fund them properly while the FG takes care of that which is theirs.

Then it is wrong. Security is not all about police and army. These two are under federal government for now.

Community policing is what state should fund.

Politics / Re: Do Not JAPA Before Dangote Refinery Starts. You Might Regret by Beautifulday: 11:28am On May 22
Quintessence44:
If you are planning to JAPA, my advice as an economist and oil industry analyst is that you WAIT.

Give it at least a YEAR from today before making the final decision.

The Dangote refinery is a game-changer.

Nigeria becomes self-sufficient in refined petroleum products, and a net exporter of same, bar none in Africa.

That’s a huge deal.

A great many businesses will be established in the months and years ahead based on our self sufficiency in petroleum products.

Millions of new jobs will be created.

In fact one foreign report states that the establishment of the 20 billion dollar Dangote refinery in Lagos officially makes Nigeria an industrialised nation.

In addition, Nigeria will stop importing diesel, petroleum products, fertiliser and petrochemicals.

“That is saving over $26 billion in foreign exchange” per annum, according to official sources.

In addition to all this, the Dangote refinery will generate 12,000 megawatts of electricity.

You can imagine the impact this will have on the economy going forward.

To JAPA right when the nation is on the cusp of economic and industrial transformation is in my view, ill-advised.

Hence I urge a one-year moratorium on all JAPA - related activities.

Happy New Year all, and God bless Nigeria.

Economist and oil industry analyst, how far? How market?

The security vote money allocated to governors is more like a miscellaneous money with no details attached to it. It's a kind of money spent on frivolities. No records, nothing backed by law and so corruption can't be said to be occurring.

State has no such power to finance the military in any form.
