BTW brandbucket/brandpa/squadhelp, which brandable platform is your best?

At the moment there's so much hype around SquadHelp so I'll go with them. My Reasons are: So much hype + influx of buyers + Advert and Marketing = more Exposure and more Sales.

Brandpa on the other hand is relatively slow lately with most traffic flying to SquadHelp nowadays.


Brandbucket is a little saturated at the moment. Previously had 50 thousand names in their marketplace and now 80 thousand plus names listed in their marketplace after they acquired Brandroot. Only large portfolio sellers can survive there.

How I came about the name : I was inspired by the sale of Kanabi.com which sold for $10k at Sedo last year and Kaniba.com which sold at brandbucket last year also, both sales were reported on namepros. According to the kaniba.com seller, sale happened just few weeks after he listed name on brandbucket.
Mehn! so I decided to go into deep research to know why those sales, and later I discovered that "Kanabi.com is a guise term or a play on the word "Cannabi" which is short for "Cannabis". Wow that means it can make a good Cannabis brand I thought. So also was "Kaniba dot com" which infact was already developed site for selling Cannabis product. Then I decided to hand reg "Kanibi dot com" which sounded similar to the above-mentioned names and could easily make a good cannabis brand name. And i submitted it to brandpa.com (Brandable Marketplace) name was accepted and I listed it there. And by God's grace name sold after some months.

As Afternic recently made changes in there payment policy.

Hope you're not using a Nigeria PayPal account as your payment account? Its likely going to be difficult to receive your payment if you ain't using a foreign paypal account as your payment method. I recently faced a similar situation, when afternic mailed me to inform that my country is not eligible for paypal payment option so i should opt for bank wire... but then i've been using the paypal account for over 3 years there before the incident. So i wrote them(support) that i have a relative in south africa and i'll love to use his paypal account to receive fund and they said no problem. so i already have a nigerian exchanger who's paypal account is hosted in south africa. so i used the exchanger's paypal account and they just instructed that i change my initial nigerian address to that of the paypal's account which is South African address. and after that i was paid through that paypal account and i've been using that paypal account to recieve fund till date.

so i'll advice you to get a nigerian exchanger who's paypal account is hosted in uae/south africa/usa/any european country/or even any other african country sef that has paypal eligibility and use it to receive your fund. before you proceed, write afternic support first and inform them, they'll give you an OK response to go ahead.


If not then you have to settle for bank wire payment method and i guess the threshold for bank wire transfer at afternic is $1000. which means you have to wait till your payout reaches $1000 before you cash out.

LOL Registrar swap there's nothing like that in domaining but all you need to do is. Wait for 60 days to get the domain unlocked then you transfer out your domain to the registrar you want.

I just bought a domain the owner has not unlist it yet from Afternic and dan. Search the domain and It's oj Samson that listed it

Simply contact Afternic support and inform them that you are the new owner they'll add name to your account. No big deal.

Answers to your questions:

1. Do I need laptop? Can my Android phone do it? ANS Having a laptop is fine, but 99% of the work you do in domaining can be comfortably done with a good android phone. I use mine 95% of the time.

2. How much do I need for start up? ANS Domaining needs as little as $8.99(like 3.3k naira to start that amount can get you to register one domain name. Although you see some domain registrars do promo for their customers sometimes and you can be lucky to buy a domain name for as low as $1 during promotion times. Currently you can buy a dot com domain name for $5.99 at dynadot.com and for $6.99 at Namesilo.com, these are promotions prices. (Standard price is $8.99)


3. Do I need a website before thinking about venturing into domaning? ANS No website needed. you need to read this thread from the beginning all information as regarding buying what you need to start have been explained repeatedly.

What journals, websites or sources do you read to understand brandables?

Majorly namepros.com(especially the brandable names section and completed report sales section to know what names are selling), dngeek.com, tldinvestors.com and watching/following current trends. And sometimes visit brandable marketplaces to observe current listed names and compare with namebio sales report.

First week of April I had 4 offers which I accepted all but none was successful, all of them change their mind and it was really frustrating, so many thing started running through my mind , I wanted to stop registering new names for now, then thursday last week was checking on expired name I found InteriorDesignPhoenix/com, so i went on to register it on dynadot.
I sent outbound mails same day then I follow up on Monday, the buyer said he is interested, whats my price, sent him $600 he offered $400 I agreed and he paid within 10minutes.

I started December 2018, had my first sale February 2019 but wanted to start reporting my sales when I had my third sale.

Bought at Netsol for $1 on Dec. 23 2018 and set BIN $2,300 on Undeveloped

Outbounded on 26th night to more than 20 end users (Facebook and direct email)

Woke up around 3am on Dec. 27th to see an offer of $1,500

I immediately countered $2,000

Buyer countered $1,500 again and said (Unfortunately that's as high as I can go. Thank you for the consideration.)

I come think am. Sleep no gree come again. I say weda to use delay tactics. My church mind tell me say I dey greedy. $1500!!!

The waiting game don start be that.

I took the liberty to search the buyer on Facebook. Saw her and noticed she is a very big realtor in that particular real estate subniche I targeted. (Meanwhile name was gotten from Expireddomains)

I added her as a friend and introduced myself. (Reason for this was to get her to know I am real ..... probably worked)

She was on vacation so communication was hell. But I kept communicating. Answering her many questions about her being skeptical about Undeveloped as a trustworthy company, transfer process, how she will get the domain etc.

This went on till Dec 31st when the buyer sent me a mail from Undeveloped that almost gave me heart attack LOL.

Undeveloped in their payment reminder to her spelt the domain name (the name of the city) wrongly TWICE in the same mail. Chai.

She said her trust don vanish that professionals cannot make such a mistake. Wahala. My brain went into overdrive.

I had to allay her fears by letting her understand that Undeveloped being a European country may sometimes get foreign names wrong. I agreed with her that it was unprofessional and that I will contact Undeveloped to correct the mistake.

She was happy.

I contacted Undeveloped and apologies were poured out with promises to rectify the issue.

I purposely didn't bombard buyer with mails so that she will not feel too pressured and back off, but I remember asking her when she intended to pay, cos with the landing page showing "Domain Sold", I may lose other prospects.

She totally understood my concerns and said she was on vacation and cannot do much until she gets back home. That if I want to back off from the deal she will understand...WHAAAATTT!!! Back off wetin!!! God forbid. I told her I will wait ooo.

Undeveloped sent second payment reminder to her on Jan 3.

Buyer assumed that she will pay extra VAT and started developing cold feet.

Those current with Namepros will remember the thread where Undeveloped explained thoroughly their VAT methods.

I smiled and explained the much I can to her that since she is from outside Europe, she won't have to pay any VAT. I also told her that I will tell Undeveloped to explain this to her. Undeveloped did and everyone was happy. LOL

Friday Jan 4th buyer paid. Praise God!

Undeveloped contacted me for domain transfer. Which I completed later in the day. But it was until Monday 7th that Undeveloped acknowledged it (they don't communicated weekends from my experience).

However, it was only on last Wednesday Jan. 9th that they sent the money ($1,365) to my dom account. They said ordinarily they ought to have sent it out within 1 business day from the time buyer paid, but because it was my first transaction, they had to make sure of certain things. They also rejected my request for Bitcoin payout because of the same reason. I can however request for Bitcoin payout from my second transaction.

Wire transfer takes 3-5 business days to hit your account.

Today is the 3rd day. Alert received around 1pm.

I had to write this long epistle not just our of joy, but to chronicle what it looks like dealing with Undeveloped.

Some sales may go smoother than mine, but this goes to show that if I never thought of searching this buyer on Facebook, probability of losing this sale would be high.

I registered 12 names with the $1 promo. Praying and hoping few more in same real estate subniche (sorry - won't reveal it for now) will sell.

As a newbie, and still learning. Try and target cities with population above 100,000

If you are searching your keyword on Google for endusers, if you see adverts appearing at the top of the serach engine results, that's a good sign that people want that keyword. So an enduser may like to have an EMD as his/her domain name.

Another tip. If you are setting your filters on Expireddomains, under Additional tab, at the bottom, tick the box that says Facebook Taken

It will show you domains that have Facebook Pages with the same names. For instance, if it lists lagosvetservices .com, it means you MAY see a Facebook Page with the handle @lagosvetservices

It doesn't always work but when it does, it is a plus. Just check if the FB Page is active. If the business has a website. Even if it has a website that goes by another/similar name, the business MAY want to own a name that matches their FB Page.

$1 promo give us a lot of room to lower our risks.

Meanwhile my alert says $1,345 instead of $1,365. I guess $20 has gone towards unexplained bank charges. Different story with different companies. When I sold some names on Namejet last year, I got the exact amount in my dom account.
