The Only person who actually killed a leader during the coup was Nzeogwu. Tafawa Balewa died of heart attack after he was arrested and Ifeajuna then abandoned his body on the road side and fled.
Kaduna Nzeogwu plotted the coup and was its face. Ifeajuna got a high profile simply because he was the one sent to Lagos to arrest Balewa and Ironsi.
