If u say saraki was corrupt as a governor, u must also realise that the office of the president is not the same as that of a governor...u just cant go there and be stealing...the responsibility is bigger and the world powers are watching |
We need a president whose actions will not be viewed thru the lense of tribe and ethnicity. Buhari is an ethnic champion, tinubu too...but saraki is a nationalist. We can only move forward as a nation if all zones are moving forward. Think of it as a vehicle....a car can only move forward when all the tires are moving forward. Nigeria cannot develope by developing only the north or west |
The west should know that just like saraki, tinubu is also after his selfish interest...but the tricky part is that once buhari wins a 2nd term, he will personally retire both tinubu and saraki and hand over to his own person. So if u want to vote buhari cos u want him to hand over to tinubu...wake up and think again |
Saraki is a yoruba man from north central. This means he represents both the west and the middle belt. He has promised to use an Igbo person as his vice. Which means the interest of the south east and south south are protected under his possible presidency. Saraki is also half fulani. Which means he will carry the core north along. Why cant Nigerian queue behind this young rising star who can unite the nation and retire old divisive hargs like Buhari and Tinubu? We must think of Nigeria's unity first. |
Xander85:yeah...i see what u mean...but we must never forget that ikwerres who own more than half of ph are actually igbos. Having said that, i would say that ENUGU is the city u are looking for. Enugu is a planned city...the european colonisers founded and planned enugu and ph themselves to become the 2 hubs of the old eastern region. Enugh has gone ahead to maintain a level head and develope significantly...its also a cosmopolitan igbo city. The anambra, imo, abia and ebonyi folks are all comfortable and familiar with enugu. Enugu has an international airport already. Enugu already has a rail line linking it with ph port. Enugu is coal city...this means it can comfortably power itself 100%. Enugu also already has the oji river thermal station. Enugu also is home to the premium university of nigeria (biafra). And hey...lets not forget...enugu was the capital of eastern region and of east central state....so in earnest, enugu is actually the capital of igboland!! ![]()

^^^ An interesting article...only if gej listened. The next easterner that will ascend to presidency must do these or remain in Abuja after his tenue. West has lagos North has abuja Wetin east got? Ph? Lmao |
The future of Nigeria belongs to the East February 25, 2011 – by Azubuike Ekwueme – Earmark $200 billion Dollars to rebuild the East – Be bold and resolute, and mighty forces will come to your aid - Basil King, on overcoming fear. Since the end of the civil war, I’ve prayed for this moment. A moment when God and providence, have heard the prayers of the Easterners in Nigeria. Today, the presidency is in the hands of a another capable Easterner since Ironsi’s regime. Indeed, it is fantastic to be alive in 2011, the year of the East. The exhilarating thing about all this, is that all the former members of the former Eastern Region is in full support of the this presidency. For the first time in the history of Nigeria, the owner of the barn, has the yam as well as the knife. Folks, this is our time and it is here to stay. https://www.waado.org/cgi-bin/Maps/willink_commission/map5.jpg With good luck and a president named Goodluck, and with the sun still rising from the East, this is the time, our time to tackle our most pernicious and vexing problem – disunity. This aggressive cancer has been left to metastasize and grow since the end of the civil war. We need an equally aggressive treatment to curb it and get rid of it entirely. Therefore, Truth and Reconcilliation summit of all the Eastern States (former Eastern Region) is urgently needed. The heavens could not have aligned itself any better for this august event. With a transformative president, a member of the former Eastern Region, GEA Jonathan, – the Obama of Nigeria, what else could the East be waiting for. President Jonathan will give us his ears, if we ask it of him. Our Eastern ethnicities, the Igbo, Ibibio, Ijaw, Efik, Oron and others, this initiative is for you. We must rise and come together to implement this peace project. In this bid to repair the damaged Eastern third let of the Nigeria tripod, we must never be seen to be afraid or perceived to be afraid. We, the Eastern democrats are not alone, and will never be alone. We need to listen Basil King, when he advised that; Be bold and resolute, and mighty forces will come to your aid. The East being natural democrats, should entertain no fears whatsoever. Democracies all around the world are waiting for us to begin, waiting for us to just say the word. They do understand that East has been hurt in Nigeria, that Niger Delta had been robbed, decimated, poisoned and irreversibly harmed. They understand that the East had been eviscerated, mocked and dumped. We have friends, we have to have our nerves and our thoughts. Fixing the East The future of Nigeria could have belonged to the East. But the civil war robbed the East of its future. With its ebullient and hard working citizenry, economic drive, a natural democratic DNA, the old Eastern Region could have become the Dubai of Africa, even without OIL. We could have become the shinning region on a hill. However, that was not to be, we have been robbed. Instead of becoming a Dubai, we’ve became an Ajegunle conclave. When compared to the Western or Northern Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria has returned to the bush. We were and are still defeated, marginalized and robbed. The East has been denigrated, divided and poisoned. Nigeria milked our OIL and decimated our land. They stole from us and allowed us die hungry in the midst of plenty, in our marshes and creeks. So, they deliberately kicked in the eastern third leg of the stool, and dared us to say a word. Soon, they are down in delta to kill and destroy our villages. Now, we are going to address these problems with a view to fixing the East. This clear-sighted epiphany was imbued in us by our creator, when he made us natural democrats. We have the imprints of Democracy in our DNA. It is a fact. The time has come for the Igbo ethnic nation to hold hands with Ijaw ethnic nation, Ibibio ethnic nation as well as Efik ethnic nation across the East. Our purpose is to each send a powerful delegation for the unity of the East. Our brother the president, GEA Jonathan will be listening. It is time to fix the broken third leg of our national tripod. This is the time to rebuild the East, all the East. This is the time to uproot the evil tree planted by the last war. Folks, this is what the doctor has ordered. The Delegation Delegation members will include all the constellations of stars and great men and women of the East. Great names like, Ambassador Uwechue, Pat Utomi, Donald Duke, Rotimi Amaechi, Oyibo Odinanmdu, Gov Akpabio, Gov. S Chime, Gov. Obi, The Obi of Onitsha, The Obi of Asaba, Obi of Agbor, Sen. President Nnamani, Jim Nwobodo and our Catholic, as well as our Protestant Bishops. Let us point them to the reconciliation bar. Let us send these people to President GEA Jonathan to talk unity, unity of all the East. We will fix the East. If necessary, Obama people might be able to help. Fixing the damaged third leg of our tripod is job number one. Tam David West, Edwin Clarke could be invited if they promise to be statesmen in good behavior. A necessity Take a look at the INECS statistics of registered voters below. South West Nigeria 15 Million North East Nigeria 8 Million North Central 8 Million South South Nigeria 8 Million South East Nigeria 7 Million Total 64 million What do you see in the statistics below? Northern and Western Nigeria are absorbing population from the S/South and S/East at an alarming rate. That is intentional policy to under develop the East, to depopulate the East, and make them inconsequential as a conquered region. The people that fought the war are still paying for it. Why is fixing the East vitally necessary at this point in time? With respect to time, there can be no better time than now. Jonathan is key. With regards to why, we must uproot the evil tree planted by the defeating army. It has held the East down from real power. This evil has forced us to become second class citizens. We must refuse to become thirsty in a stream of flowing natural water. Nobody has the right to break up the East. They do not have that right. We will take our East back. Nigerian army destroyed the Eastern region and handcuffed our cohesion. They did this not because of the coup majors, but for the sake of OIL. When they got our OIL, they did nothing for us. Instead they built Abuja, and they built Lagos, and nothing in the East. They took the golden eggs from the Eastern goose. As far as I know, before the war, there had been no major instance of misunderstanding between the ethnic communities of the East region. If there were any, they would be very minimal indeed. The East has got be fixed for the future of the East and its people. $800 BILLION FOR EASTERN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR The people of the East are going to ask the president, Jonathan to literally, drop $800 billion dollars to rebuild the East from the ravages of the civil war. Eastern region has paid an inordinate price for the war it did not cause. This initiative is vitally important for these two reasons; 1. The quickest way to redevelop Nigeria is to help Lagos with its aggravating population density. If we effectively develop the Easter part of Nigeria, the crowd of unemployed youth will evacuate Lagos or Abuja and head for the East. Employment seekers will have another alternative other than Lagos or Abuja. 2. All Southerners and Middle Belt people in the danger zones of Jos, Plateau state, may now relocate to the East, to jobs and to businesses without fear. Depopulating Lagos and Abuja is vital for wider economic development of the nation. High unemployment index in the East, makes “kidnapping” attractive. This initiative will manage our problems and keep it to acceptable levels. Eventually, problems will go away as the things of the past. The East would then bounce back as the beacon region again. http://www.nigerdeltacongress.com/oarticles/opening_up_the_nigerian_eastern_.htm This commission will advise and persuade president Jonathan’s administration to give the East a much needed infrastructural development. The northerners and Westerners had this odious policy of starve, and humble the East. They blatantly refused to build any infrastructure in the East. Take for instance, the much needed second Niger Bridge at Asaba-Onitsha. This is a federal project for interstate commerce. Because if connected Igbo people across the Niger, it was denied. It took an Easterner, an Ijaw man to make Enugu and international airport. The ethnicities that won the war, that had ruled Nigeria since after the war are bad for the East. So, from the Onitsha river port to Onne port, from Port Harcourt port, to Calabar port, all the ports in the East will have to be re-developed to the same level as the Lagos ports. Tinapa to a world class destination must be revived. Akanu Ibiam International must be rebuilt to reflect the new status. Enugu Coal mine will have to be resuscitate, and made to provide alternative power source. Mega Mall of the East will replace Onitsha market. Second Niger Bridge, which ostensibly had been a federal neglected project will have to built. Let us then, ask GEA Jonathan for the first time, to look eastward, and then let it rip. It is time to spend $800 billion dollars, not Naira, to develop the patched, hungry, and marginalized Eastern peoples. The Eastern Airspace, and Eastern ports must be completely up-developed. The north has got theirs. The West has got theirs. It is the time for the East, all the East. Minorities not to fear One of the great things that emerged after the war is the 36 states structure . This state structure of Nigeria shall remain inviolable. It gives every ethnicity the sense of belonging. They can now better manage their own people. It has to remain sacrosanct. The states has made each ethnic minority masters of their own domain. There no longer a question of the majority riding rough shod over them. Having own state frees up the East for political, economic cooperation. Such venture will be in the task of creating a fresh ideological based polity. What we are talking about is willful participation in an arbiter summit, to bring the people of the East back together. The East is the fertilized soil from which true Democracy should rise and flower to all Nigerians. We remain the only proto-Republican region in all of Nigeria. We’d hone in on our DNA and become a sub regional Democracy. This is a matter for another day. A Plea to the Igbo Umuigbo, in God’s name, please do not ridicule this article, or tear it to shreds, do not call anybody any names, do not insult anybody. Let us remember that if the Igbo ever expect to reconcile with our minority brothers and sisters, we must be seen and understood as “not threatening” either with our words or deeds. We, the Igbo must show the world that we are a compassionate people, as the older George Bush will have it, “kinder, gentler” Igbo people. The Igbo will find it harder to prosper without Port Harcourt, so reconciliation is extremely vital. Let the Igbo understand that ” a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still” . So, verbally beating an unconvinced Ikwerre man or Ibibio man over the head repeatedly, will never make him or her see things our way. The opposite is the truth. It’ll drive them further and further away from us. Let us become more adroit, more compassionate, less confrontational, and while doing this, keep our site on our goal. Our goal is or should be, establishing the Eastern Economic Corridor with Port Harcourt, Calabar, Onitsha as key ports. On the internet, please let us hold back our fire and become less pugnacious. Think of it this way – Ndigbo must understand the burden of being a big brother, a prudent big brother, with the knowledge of how to handle intra-ethnic human relations. I have said it before, I’ll say it again. Let the Igbo become a kinder , gentler big brother, to the Ijaw, Ikwerre, Ibibio, Efik and other minorities of the East. It is in our vital economic interest. Imagine if your brother or sister runs away from home, and says he or she no longer belongs to the family, what’d you do? Prudence will will demand that we go the “kinder, gentler” route. Dragging them by their hair, slapping them, cursing them is definitely NOT the way to go? That is illogical. A thinking person will choose his or her words carefully, obviously. Ndigbo gee nti. There is no better time than now to rebuild the East. 2011 is the year, our year. |
Beeman1:u northerners are beggers in enugu. The only reason hausa will be talking when his igbo masters are talking is because of ur yoruba and middle belt allies. Remove yoruba and middlebelt people from the equation...remove u.k...let the fight be strictly btw Igbos and hausa/fulani Una dey chop better food?? Na una we dey use do merguard and boy boy work. Cjrane2:if we are talking about an independent igboland, then the bridge at obuaku is not an issue...since there are other water bodies we can use instead But if we are talking about igboland within nigeria, then the onitsha port is already there and there is already a railway linking igboland with sea port in rivers |

Aro roots of Ikwere identity crises culled from vanguardngr.com by Prof Chidi Osuagwu of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State In 1991, Babangida regime created new states without creating Igweocha or Port-Harcourt as requested by Igbo people of Rivers State, led by Senators Obi Wali and Francis Ellah. A short while later, I accompanied Mazi Philip Nkwocha, a friend of Obi Wali’s, to visit him at his home in Umuigbo. As Senator Wali saw us enter his house, he shouted at his friend “Phil, what happened?” His friend retorted, in surprise, “Obi about what?” “How come you people asked for Igbo States without including Port-Harcourt?” Wali further asked his perplexed friend. At this point I had to speak up to minimize the confusion. I knew something they both didn’t know. In 1991 Emeka Omeruah, from Imo State (later Abia), was Military Governor of Enugu State, while Anthony Ogugua, from Anambra (later Enugu) was in Imo State. As the agitation for states heated, these two Governors, quietly, set up a committee to harmonious Igbo demand for States. I was a committee member. Four states were identified; Abia, Anioma, Enugu and Port-Harcourt. Outreach groups were constituted to reach out to the Igbo in the different states. But events were moving so rapidly that the group decided to go with only demands that would not elicit identity confusion. Port-Harcourt was dropped, for this reason, for the Igbo there to do the best they could under the circumstance. Hearing this Senator Wali sat still for a long while, then said “Phil, our gamble about identity has failed! You will buy me three traditional Igbo dresses. I will attend this year’s Ahiajoku Lecture, and seek to deliver that of next year”. He never made it! He was assassinated a short while later, his friends believed, for his continued Port-Harcourt State creation agitation. When I read later that Dr Wali’s son, Ihunwo, was one of the leaders of the Congress for the Liberation of Ikwerre People, COLIP; an ‘Ikwerre-back-to-Igbo-fold’ youth movement, whose mission is to wean Ikwerre off Biafra-war propaganda, I knew where he was coming from. Identify-confusion is a horrible disease. Barack Obama’s greatest political strength is his very early decision to be African-American and nothing else. He knew where his father came from; and where his mother came from. Those who pretend in America that they are, socially, half-white and half-black, for example, end up as friends of psychiatrists. “Our gamble about identity has failed!” That statement, by a man who, a short while later, was murdered; for his just state-creation aspiration, still haunts one to this day. And no one can understand the current crisis in Rivers State without understanding the identity crises there. For instance what it means to be Ijaw, but not Izon or ‘core-Ijaw’. And, to be Igbo-speaking, but not Igbo? Or, in fact, all of the above. Not to talk of Ogoni ‘war-of-all-against-all’. When I observed to Senator Wali that his person epitomized the Ikwerre identity dilemma; his very village is Umuigbo (Igbo-children/Igbo descendants/Igbo people), but he too claimed not to be Igbo, his response pointed to the great depth of our identity crises. He told us that his problem was not Igbo identity, as such, but Aro-Ikwerre domination. He informed us that he used to attend the Council meeting of the Village deity priesthood with his father. Even as a child, who carried his father’s stool, it struck him that of the seven stools of the Council, the small Aro population in Umuigbo controlled four. That information struck me. Famous writer, Elechi Amadi, had given me a variant of this Aro-Ikwerre problematic tale in 1985. We had served together on an interview panel at the then Rivers State College of Education, Port-Harcourt. He told me he had no problem with Igbo identity, but had problem when the Aro-Ikwerre, during the Nigeria-Biafra War, plotted to kill him. Now, it seems the Ikwerre suffer from a significantly misdirected anger. They are, in this case; holding their Isuama-Igbo (Ikwerre, traditionally, distinguished between ‘Ikwerre and Isuama’; not ‘Ikwerre and Igbo’) kinsmen, who are ethically more related to them than to the Aro, accountable for Aro domination. The Early British, before oil became a factor of ethnic classification in the Lower Niger, had a cultural sub-group of the Igbo they called Orratta-Ikwerre (that is Owerri-Ikwerre, in current usage), who, both call the heartland Igbo as Isuama. Ekwensu wu amaghi ihe! The Devil is Ignorance! The solution to our identity crises, then, is ‘Know self, know other!’ Now to consider the Aro a purely Igbo people; and hold Igbo responsible for Aro mischief is the height of identity confusion. One day, the Cross-river Ejegham, who own the Ibini-Ukpabi soul of the Aro system, the Efik who control the social organizational Ekpe; the Ogoja Akpa that supplied the fighters and the Ibibio on whose land Arochukwu was founded will turn around and blame the Igbo, from among whom a few medicine men were coopted, for inventing Ibini-Ukpabi and Aro slavery. That would be a most uncharitable treatment of truth, but the world is a clever place. |
Okoroawusa:lol..both u and the julius fool are not igbos...ur obsession with igbo is just sad God pass una |
Purehuman:they are important...but not indispensible...they should come out and declare their igbonness or fvck off |
If the ss igbos dont take a stand soon...they will be left behind without apology. Look at this map...the green part represents ss igbos while the other part is se. Can u all see that no part of igboland whether se or ss is bordered by atlantic ocean. The ss igbos dont have any advantage over se igbos. Time to cut the nay sayers off. Se igboland is good to go it alone...and if asaba and genuine delta igbos want, we can go it together. Others can fvck off. We dont need them. And its time we get very violent about it.
|
nnamdijonathan:in nnamdi kanu's voice...we must continue |
pazienza:u trully hardened my heart....now when next i see a person from delta or rivers with igbo name...i will be the 1st one to tell him that he is not igbo...let him start explaining himself. We are in one nigeria for now...the issue of sea port never arise as importers are still using lagos and ph ports. But the ss igbos are taking political positions meant for igbos and we shouldnt allow it anymore. Plus se igbos living in rivers should learn to stop voting ikwerre...they have enjoyed our votes for too long without giving back anything...time to start voting ogoni |
An English adage says that its better to be alone than in bad company. Cc Anioma and Ikwerre |
All that has been said so far by people here are true. Anioma agenda has always been to have anioma recognised as a tribe in delta so that they can fully play minority politics. If anioma1stson and other full blooded igbos from anioma axis trully love igboland, they should come out and fight this agenda. Truth is that igbos in se dont really have any need for anioma at all. We only want brotherhood and we have streched out our hands. However we demand full and unconditional brotherhood from anioma or nothing. U either go ur way fully or come with us fully...no middle ground. We will negotiate differently with igbos in rivers. |
ckenneths:bianca onoh |
If they are Yoruba moslems, good riddance |
InyinyaAgbaOku:well u have a point...but as far as secession goes, ss igbo especially ikwerres who are near the sea becomes highly needed |
horsepower101:e tire me...europe is christian culture, india is a hindu culture, china is a buhddist culture, arab is a muslim culture...wat is nigerian culture?? We are not a nation. The south west that has a mix of christian and islam is at least united by culture and blood. Nigerian tribes mixing last last will only end up enthroning hausa-fulani power and yoruba culture. The igbo tribe will be the biggest losers in a unified nigeria...any way u check it. Sadly that is becoming more and more our reality. We now have igbos from se who feel ashamed that they are igbos because they grew up in lagos. |
pazienza:anioma people sef tire me. Ifeanyi okowa said igbo is a language and not a tribe...that they are anioma and cannot be in biafra or east...that there is a natural boundary... Why are these people making things difficult? The truth is nigeria may never divide unless igbos are strong enough to push it...cos no other group will push it...and igbos cannot be strong enough without ss igbos... As we keep staying in nigeria, centuries may pass and tribal line (especially in the south) will become blurred |
The president has no right issuing such directive in the 1st place. It gives the impression that our law enforcement only works when the president wants it to. However buhari and his goons wont understand this as they are not intellectually sound to know wat governance is in 21st century |
More like his madam threw him out...men are not this wicked.. Na bad wife dey cause these things |
