And what has SE Igbo done in bringing the it brothers in SS back to the fold

obi of owa, asagba of asaba and the omu of anioma has been preaching Igbo unity since God knows when.

They are fighting to zone anioma to SE their kith and kin

What has SE done to actualize Igbo unity?
se has done everything it can...by giving prominent positions in ohaneze and traditional rulers council to ss igbos...including ikwerre.

By investing money in ss igboland

By always claiming u guys as igbos even when its against se interest

There is no single igboman from se who harbours hate against a ss person...asaba and ph is not much better than se cities...yet we are always claiming it as igboland and always getting insulted for it too.

I know many ss folks are real igbos...that is why i want ohaneze to identify them and bring them fully into the fold and then close the door on others who are lukeworm igbos

Most of you are just lucky that your geopolitical zone is in SE.

That doesn't give you the right to judge SS igbos
my guy i have met ss igbos who hate me for being igbo...can u imagine that??

Ss igbos need to declare themselves...a map of new igboland should be drawn by ohaneze...it should exclude ss people who say they are not igbo....

Regional government or not had nothing to do with restructuring. It depends on what regional government you are talking about. The one ibo put us in on Jan66 or the one before that?
b4 the nzeogwu coup...nigeria was a proper federation with devolved powers.

The only thing the country was facing was corruption and minorities suppression...

Wen aguiyi came, he continued the regional system but suspended devolution of power temporarily.

Wen gowon/awolowo came, they destroyed the regions and created the 12 states, while continuing with unitary govt.

Obj/murtala created 19 states and went further to institutionalise unitary govt in 1979 constitution.

There wasnt much agitation in nigeria from 1970 to 1985....people were contented with how things were because of recent past experiences plus oil boom

In 1994 was when the shout for restructuring started. It was spearheaded by alex ekwueme and supported by the west. The only thing that came out of it was creation of 6 more states and the geo political zones.

Restructure is not a yoruba agenda...its a southern agenda.

If restructure includes resource control, the ss will be highest gainers because of oil.
If restructure is only devolution of power, state police and increased oil share to states, then se will be the biggest winners cos they will be able to control security in se which is in the hands of the north now and rebuild most federal infrastructure that was left to decay
If restructure means regionalism, the sw will be the biggest gainers cos they have lagos, have access to sea and are homogenous

Hedonini:
Who is the PDP's "inner caucus"?

The fundamental difference between the PDP and the APC is that the PDP is a real political party, not a cult of personalities like the APC.

In the absence of a sitting president in the party, there is nothing like" inner caucus".

Much has been said about Wike's so-called control of the party, but this is only a quarter truth and academic postulation. That you influenced the choice of the party chairman doesn't mean you control the party. What about the NEC? And the BOT? And the delegates at state level (36 states).

The best candidate (or the most generous and wiling to spend) will win the primaries. And that race is between Atiku and Saraki.
u are right too...but tambulwal might be a compromise candidate.

1. He is from nw- votes
2. He is a sitting gov- money and influence
3. He is young- appeals to most voters
4. He has no bad records- saraki and atiku does
5. He was a speaker- national appeal

Is there really an identity debate? I personally don't think so. It is a matter of awareness and perspective. For instance, the current Secretary General of Ohanaze Ndigbo is an Ikwerre Man. His delivery at the last Ala Igbo Development Converge in Enugu was mind-blowing and liberating. He is a proud Igbo man. The only reason Peter Odili was denied the VP spot with Yar-Adua was because he was Igbo.Edwin Clark reportedly opposed and openly mentioned no Igbo should be allowed to go that far from Rivers State and ended up throwing up GEJ. The rest they say is history. One of the pro-Igbo veterans on this forum was Ezepromoe. He never failed to remind anyone that cared he was Rivers and full blooded Igbo. Duncan Mighty flaunts his Igbo credentials at each point. Many more are here, following this thread and those who have seen the light should be encouraged. It is an open discussion. No one is claiming anyone or forcing anyone.
like the post above says, its all about perspective. Amarabae is a proud igbo girl from rivers, would u deny her her igboness? The rivers state igbos are divided 50-50 along who is igbo and who is not...we will keep the conversation going.

Any given day I just keep admiring this lady's simplicity which is epitome of sophistication

She just represented and showcased Nigerian brand INNOSON cars to the world and now NETFLIX has that movie and millions would notice the badge IVM in cars

This is a scene in her latest movie Lion Heart, the biggest movie from Nigeria this year and Netflix is acquiring the right. Having premiere in Canada. The movie budget is massive and profit impressive...with cast like Nkem Owoh and others.

Not only that, she did Innoson ..showing her love for Nigeria and Nigerian products . Now can anyone define patriotism and love for her people. ..this girl is simply sweet and amazing

Indeed, ụkwa a na-apị mkpụrụ dị ya.

I'm so gladdened to see that the first Nollywood film to be featured on international news media and to be bought by the prestigious Netflix has a lot of indigenous consciousness in it.

To see that she used Innoson cars (IVM) for her #Lionheart and promoted them deeply makes me more hopeful for younger ndị Igbo than ever. That drive of consciousness among us that was low is now on a steady rise and no force will stop it! Ndigbo contributed money to build airport in owerri during the time of Sam mbakwe. No group in Nigeria has ever done that.

So why haven’t we applied the same mentality of contributing money by the masses to build all the major critical infrastructures that we are lacking?

Cjrane2:
Excellent post Bro!
It couldn't have been better said.

The problem with our cities isn't exactly lack of ideas, it is a determined reluctance of our leaders to bequeath decent cities in these states. On tarring inner cities, the state government can coordinate with property owners and landlords to work out a formula for financial contribution to do those street with direct labor. If the State Governments set aside a fraction of their Capital Budgets to do inner street gutters and paved roads via direct labor, these streets will all be paved within 4 years. I know Ebonyi state funded direct labor government agencies for Abakaliki inner streets for about 3 years and it helped transform the city. If Ebonyi state, which is the poorest SE state could do it, then why can't the others?

Anambra has OCHA brigade, Enugu has City Beautification agency or something like that, Abia has another group that collect taxes for them.

The question is:

i, WHY CAN'T THESE AGENCIES PULL DOWN EVERY ILLEGAL STRUCTURE OR ILLEGAL SIGN BOARDS IN THE CITIES / STATE?

ii, WHY CAN'T THESE YOUNG PEOPLE BE MOBILIZED TO PLANT TREES AND FLOWERS ALONG ALL MAJOR ROADS IN THE CITIES WHERE THEY OPERATE?

iii, WHY CAN'T THESE GROUPS BE TRAINED AND EMPOWERED WITH BASIC ROAD CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AND FUNDED EVERY YEAR IN THE STATE BUDGET TO CONSTRUCT GUTTERS AND INNER STREETS IN ALL THE CITIES?

The only reason they are not doing the above is that the various state governor DO NOT CARE ABOUT A DECENT ENVIRONMENT IN THEIR CITIES. I must quickly add that some Governors have done better than others in removing illegal structures, sweeping streets and planting flowers & trees.

Honestly, Some of our cities look like piggeries. It's not as though the governors are unaware of these issues, but they have decided not to emphasize them to their various Commissioners. Thus these Commissioners just sit in big air-conditioned offices and do next to nothing to transform the environment in the cities inside the state.

If the Governors daily queried their Commissioners "Why aren't trees and flowers planted along major roads and roundabouts?
Why aren't proposals made to banks to beautify specific flyovers / open parks and the banks or organization can exclusively place their signboards in that area and will not be taxed for 15 - 20 years if they maintained those areas.

I personally have inside knowledge that Sullivan Chime constantly harassed his commissioners about refuse dumps etc and they got into the habit of clearing them. Individuals who violate environmental codes by erecting illegal sign boards or buildings are penalized by immediately pulling those structures down and sending the bill for the demolition exercise to the responsible individual or company to pay to the state or have some of their assets impounded.

Other African countries have perfected the art of using their own internal government direct labor agencies to plant trees and flowers and do city roads and inner streets. We must stop awarding contracts for streets and use direct labor of government agencies to do the job. We can get independent private agencies to audit and report to the government on status and quality of the jobs executed. We truly cannot afford to do inner streets with big contracts. It must be direct labor through State ministry of works.

We have to begin to impress on our governors that we deserve decent cities like they see abroad. The culture of treating us as pigs by forcing us to live in pig-like environments called cities should stop for good.
i have always asked myself why igbos contribute to build large churches in their neighbourhoods...but cant come together to build their streets...even if with only interlock.

Lagos landlords do it

True words! But then,it is a Nigerian malady and a fall out of the crude nature of our politics. A portion of the blame also goes to the citizens.
For instance, development and performance are hardly key factors and considerations in our politics and governance. Starting from conception to declaration of interest, buying nomination forms (at cut throat prices),expensive campaigns and the basic beclouding emotive out-pours called tribalism and sectional interests (both in the federal and even within our states) the underlying motives are hardly noble.
So at the end of the day we end up with elected officials:
1.Who are least qualified mentally and otherwise for the rigors of governance in the 21st century.
2.Who are not motivated for the greatest good for the greatest number
3.Who are entrapped by chauvinistic factors long before they emerge.
4.Who assemble government officials, appointees and key functionaries who were employed and appointed purely for political settlement, parochial purposes and never on the basis of their quality and qualification for the posts they occupy. This particular factor plays out mostly in the first tenure of governors.
For instance, just like someone mentioned above, the sit-at-home by IPOB exposed the deplorable state of our roads and streets. We still have sand dunes on the shoulders of the roads. The gutters are still open and largely a safety risk. The curbs, traffic islands and pavements were all broken in several places and in dire need of repairs and repainting. There are uneven bushes and shrubs both in the medians and at street corners.Flowers and trees planted were usually stampeded to death by pedestrians crossing the roads haphazardly. There are many low hanging cables, damaged poles, damaged vehicles and all manner of unsightly materials still giving our streets the third world look. The duties of the various ministries of environments goes beyond hustling to corner the contract for supply of incinerators, trash bins and the likes. Paying attention to all these seemingly little details should be the koko.Getting some of these little thngs sorted can make a massive difference. This remains the magic of Kigali.
On security. Why are our villages and hinterlands with just some raggedly vigilantes more secured and devoid of crimes better than the cities where we have seemingly better equipped security outfits? This is where the current structure and evil document called the 1999 constitution apply. In all,we all must ensure to do things differently when and if the leadership of our region falls into our hands. Ndewo nu.
everything rests on who is the governor...and most times the gov is usually someone who has made a little money and name and has some exposure too. But people are different.

Take for instance sullivan chime and theodore orji...both served the previous govs of their states...both have had some level of exposure...both got the same amount from fg....but their achievments differ...

Guess what...u can never guess a gov who will work and one who will flop
