@Ndipe Pls refrain from misinterpreting the scripture o! In Matthew 4:7 and Luke 4:12 Jesus quoted what you've quoted in reference to Deuteronomy 6:16. I beg read your Bible thoroughly. He wasn't referring to himself as God, but rather educating the devil of the word of his Father (GOD ALMIGHTY). Pls note: The word 'tempt' is the same as 'test'. I refer you to Ex 17:7, Psalm 78:18-31, Isaiah 7:10-12. However, I'm not judging you for saying YES to the topic, but your supporting evidence or back-up scripture doesn't entirely support your claim! God bless |
, Just glad we advanced 2 the next stage. |
Hi guys! I do believe we all entitle to our own opinion (s), but rather than to be too careful in what we say, we should honesty say what we feel about the donation without getting any criticism from no one. Giving is good, voluntary giving is better! My only concern is, why should the congregation be asked to donate for what has already been donated? However, we all know how loyal Nigerian Christians are, anything for the Pastor! Only in Nigeria people don't tend to critique what their pastor say, even when it seems obvious what was said is kinda contradictory! In addition, I believe the reason for the donation is for the USA to see us as a very charitable nation. The mutallab thing has recently damage our relations with the US, the donation should go a long way to at least get us a more respectable status. God bless |
@Mavenb0x It's alright not to take things too serious some times you know. They say 'all work and no play, " ooh, thanks for your simple answer to the topic. God bless |
Hi all! Having carefully gone through most of your posts, I conclude that everyone contributing to the thread is intelligent or on the other hand knowledgeable in the things God. I would that we could just be more sincere to ourselves and use our personal relationship with God to decipher who Jesus truly is. There is no need for us to start ambiguating the ambiguity. And if we chose to, latent ambiguity (language that means one thing but also clear and intelligible) should be used. Hence, I do crave your indulgence to give a straight forward answer to the topic. , Yes, Jesus is God, , No, Jesus is not, with our reasons or evidence (s) to support the arguement. Thank you all God bless |
@toba Going through all your posts, I presume you support those that says Jesus is not God (Creator)? , just wanna be sure! Once again, thanx for your clarity. God bless! |
@okika_juju Your response was the best of the best. You certainly understood the question and what i'm looking for. . You not only gave a straight YES or NO answer, but also simplified it with your reasons and intellect. God Bless! |
@Viaro I do accept criticism as you and I know I'm imperfect in any way. But so much as to your support of @Mavenb0x, I wasn't criticising him but admonishing him to come plain and give us a definite answer to the topic instead of giving endless quotes from the Bible without actually answering the question. That to me was just religion! If you read my thread, I indulged everyone to be simple and honest. See this as an essay that you either answer yes or no to and back it up with your reasons. God Bless! |
@toba I sure love your simplicity and understanding of the scripture, but nonetheless I would want you to read my post again and give me a simple answer. I believe you're saying Jesus is not GOD, GOD here means the creator of ends of the earth, the maker of you and me, am I right? |
@Mavenb0x Pls this thread is not a one man show! You've started cumbering your posts with on this thread. I indulge you to convince people and not to force your conviction on them. I don't want any opinionated person. You using Jackie chan as an illustration of Jesus's divinity is totally out of proportion. I believe what you are trying to say in simple term is, Jesus is God, but not God the Father! Am i right? Why the confusion? How would you explain this to people of other faith that Jesus is God and not God the Father? Does it make sense to you. And in God we have sense! How many time (s) is the word TRINITY mentioned in the Bible? If Jesus is the same as God the Father, then Jesus should also be God the Holy Spirit. I believe God was too busy to have come down Himself to rescue us. What happened to all HIS angels and servants? Jesus only became the begotten son of God here on earth, read your Bible. We're also son's and daughter's of God. Anything you're above, you're god or God over that same thing! Likewise Jesus, when he was here on earth, he was the head of the church and Lord over us. He was sent by God just as God would send any of HIS other angels. If Jesus said God sent him here on earth himself, why would someone then conclude that Jesus is that same God? |
@Princekevo How can the message of the Trinity beyond human comprehension? Our God is not an author of confusion. He says in Psalm 81:10 ", open your mouth wide, and I will fill it". And what was Jesus's response to his disciples when they seem not to understand a thing, Matt 13: 10, 11 and 13 ", he answered and said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand." Ignorance should not be taken as an excuse but if need be, corrected! I posted a topic that demand a straight forward answer, all you could say was for me to work out my salvation. I believe you're better than the response you came up with. If you're that knowledgeable in the things of God, why not tell me yes or no to the above question, back it up with your evidence. Shalom! |
, IS JESUS GOD? This is a debate that has been going on for decades now! A lot of people I've asked (even some powerful men of God) seem to shy away from this very somewhat complex question. Don't be hasty to answer, take your time, do your research. If you argue the affirmative (for)why then did Jesus die and pray to GOD? and if your response is negatory, why did Jesus not say we should worship him? The earliest followers of Jesus all seemed pretty convinced that Jesus was fully God in human form. Paul said, "He is the image of the invisible God, in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell." John said that Jesus created the world. Peter said, "every one who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." Our age rightly demands open-mindedness and intellectual honesty in any investigation. So also regarding Jesus, it is essential to have all the facts before deciding for, or against, him. Pls note: God here means the Creator, the Almighty, the Lilly of the Valley, the I AM that I AM, the Jehovah Man of war e.t.c and not the 'god' the bible refers us as. Though, Jesus said before Abraham was "I AM" Jhn 8:58. Was he referring to himself here as GOD (the maker of the universe)? But what did Jesus say about himself? Did he ever identify himself as God? Just to help you out, check out these verses, John 8:57-59,John 10:30-33, John 13:12-14, John 3:16-18, Matthew 20:25-28, Mark 9:31-32 etc few decades ago, the word 'he', 'him', 'himself' all referring to Jesus has been replaced with 'He', 'Him', and 'Himself' which thus belongs to GOD! Support your answers not only with Biblical references but also with educational evidence (s). I Was in a church one sweet sunday morning, the pastor was about saying the name of Jesus then called God. He then quickly say sorry and say Jesus. If Jesus was God why would he say sorry? However, does it mean he was wrong or perhaps right? Just need your sincere response(s). Pls do not cumber your replies with scriptures! Be precise, honest and simple. God Bless! |
To all of you who have so far contributed to this topic, this is what you should know: Christianity is the most beautiful thing that has ever happened in Nigeria. But lets face it, should we because of that ignore the fact and neglect what has been perpetuated for generations by our pastors and continue to see them use us for selfish gain? Xtianity is knowledge and knowledge must be acquired in any form. I believe peoples' opinion should always count regardless of their religious beliefs. Christ embassy is a good church but also the only church that has for years not been far away from controversy. As for the hair thing, I personally see nothing wrong with that. In as much as Oyakhilome is not condemned within himself. But the question still remains; why would other pastors' follow suit? Are they just loyal servants? Ask yourself, loyal servants of who? Jesus's or Oyakhilomes'? I'm not asking anyone to answer these rhetoric's. Regarding healing, why is it that Oyakhilome's healing is centred on Nigerians? He is a world evangelist and travels a lot to other nations. There is no account or evidence of his miracle on foreign soil! Miracle is mostly associated with unbelievers. These are all opinions and shouldn't be taken personal. Remember ", in the city of Ephesus, " God bless you all |
Most violent extremists or group act in the name of islam. Is their justification true? A rhetorical question that needs to be pondered upon. Is terrorism an Arab world or a muslim world? Even in west africa where there seems to be continuous ethnic and tribal clash, the hausa muslims amongst them uses 'jihad' as a justification to the killings of their fellow non-tribal muslim 'brothers'. Should we then say that all muslims regardless of their background or ethnicity but originating from an Arab speaking nations are capable of an act of terrorism? Pardon my use of rhetoric's. What does Netanyahu (2001) and Morgenthau (Knopf, 1978) have in common? The secret the idealist will never know. The Yoruba muslims are just a 'trying to fit in muslim' They strongly believe in Jesus than some acclaimed 'christians'. They should be ashamed of themselves and strive harder in leaving behind the old phrase 'what would Alfa kareem or haja Limota say if I convert to christianity.' Christianity is not a religion; its a way of life (John 14:6). Get a life you yoruba muslims! |
