Phones / Defective Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Unit “cracks” As User Flips The Phone by beejayvince(m): 8:16pm On Feb 17, 2020
Samsung unveiled the roughly $1,500 Galaxy Z Flip a couple of days ago. The company launched this foldable phone alongside the Galaxy S20 series. However, those were not the only phones to launch. The Korean company also unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip, its latest foldable phone.

The Galaxy Z Flip is Samsung’s second foldable phone, coming after the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The Galaxy Fold once sold out in minutes in China. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, however, the Galaxy Z Flip folds upside down. This is the kind of fold that the Motorola Razr features.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip went on sale in South Korea and the United States soon after its launch. It got so many orders that it ran out of stock soon after it went up for sale. The device reportedly went out of stock in just 30 minutes through local carrier LG U Plus in South Korea.

The first batch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip contained 20,000 units. This means that many buyers already have their hands on the device. However, even with the launch success, it appears that the Galaxy Z Flip is still fragile, just like the Galaxy Fold.

A Twitter user with username @mondoir has taken to Twitter to explain his ordeal with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Along with a picture of the defective unit, the user posted:

"Received my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip just now. Opened the box. Removed the protective/instruction film. Flipped the phone as you would do since it’s a flip phone and this happened. I heard the crack as well. Cold weather?"

Samsung replied to the tweet, asking for more information so that it could look into the issue. In a follow-up tweet, the user revealed that Samsung already gave him a replacement Galaxy Z Flip unit quickly after.

This is the first known reported case of the Galaxy Z Flip cracking upon flipping. Could it really be as a result of cold weather? Or maybe it is just something else.

Regardless of what caused the crack, it definitely hurts to see a roughly $1,500 phone develop a defect even before any actual use.

Phones / The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus Processor May Arrive In Q3 2020 by beejayvince(m): 6:49pm On Feb 17, 2020
Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 865 processor in 2019 and the 865 Plus is apparently already in the works. The Snapdragon 865 itself is a beast of a chip. It offers great graphics performance as well as support for 200MP+ cameras and 8K recording.

The news of the upcoming Snapdragon 865 Plus has appeared on Weibo. Popular Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station took to the platform to report the alleged existence of this processor.

According to the post, the launch of the Snapdragon 865 Plus is tentatively scheduled for the third quarter of 2020.

A “Plus” version of the Snapdragon 865 will not exactly be a surprise. Qualcomm occasionally releases slightly improved versions of its flagship chipsets. The Snapdragon 855 Plus, for example, was released about half a year after the launch of the Snapdragon 855.

Qualcomm also released the Snapdragon 821 in 2016, shortly after releasing the Snapdragon 820. However, we did not see improved versions of the Snapdragon 835 and 845.

So, we may or may not actually get the Snapdragon 865 Plus. However, if it truly comes, we expect it to feature only minor upgrades from the regular Snapdragon 865 chip. It may also lead to a price drop in the standard Snapdragon 865 processor, and this may just mean cheaper 5G phones.

Phones / Facebook Lite For Android Gets Dark Mode Even Before The Main App Does by beejayvince(m): 9:55am On Feb 17, 2020
Since the system-wide toggle arrived last year, the dark mode has been rolling out to many Android phones. One would expect that Facebook would probably be among the first apps to get the dark mode. But that was not to be. However, Facebook Lite has now gotten dark mode functionality.

Even though the main Facebook app is yet to get dark mode, several other apps from the company have. Messenger and Instagram have gotten the functionality. Even WhatsApp recently added the feature. Facebook Lite is now the latest addition to the list.

The dark mode on the Facebook Lite app actually uses a dark gray color instead of true black. The “dark” covers everything from your profile to Settings and more.

Facebook Lite usually gets features well behind the normal Facebook app. So, the fact that it gets dark mode before the normal app is quite surprising. The toggle for the functionality is available in the Settings menu.

It is of note that this is still a server-side rollout and not everyone will get it immediately.

Many companies pulled out of the MWC 2020 as a result of the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus. HMD Global also pulled out, claiming the spread of the virus as a reason.

However, even though HMD withdrew from the event, the company still has plans to unveil its devices. The company planned to release the Nokia 10 at the MWC 2020 in Barcelona. HMD is also working on releasing an Android WearOS smartwatch as well as a feature phone. Now, the company is reportedly planning to launch the devices at an alternative event.

According to HMD Global:

“We are still planning to showcase our preparations for participation at Barcelona MWC and will share details on how we will do this.”

There is not yet a fixed new date for the release of the Nokia 10. However, there are reasons to believe that HMD will still release it this year.

Phones / Xiaomi Patents Another Phone With A Display That Extends To The Back by beejayvince(m): 8:45pm On Feb 14, 2020
Xiaomi recently filed a patent for a phone that will probably be the Mi Mix Fold. Now, according to new reports, the Chinese company has just patented another Mi MIX Alpha lookalike.

According to the patent, the new device has a display ratio that exceeds 100%. This is similar to the Mi MIX Alpha which features a display ratio of 180.6%.

The patent shows that the device has a screen that extends to the rear. Recall that the Mi MIX Alpha also features something similar. However, unlike the Mi MIX Alpha, the new device’s screen extends only a little bit to the rear. It has a camera at the top center of the rear.

It is necessary to note that this is only a patent. So, it is possible that the device will never even hit the shelves. Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Cui Baoqui, Chairman of the Xiaomi Technical Committee has revealed that the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha already has mass production capabilities. However, we are yet to see it in mass production because the company “needs to wait for coordination.”

Phones / Xiaomi Mi 10 To Feature New Wi-fi 6 Standard With Speed Up To 9.6gbps by beejayvince(m): 8:39pm On Feb 11, 2020
Over the past couple of days, we have gotten new information about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10. We know that the device will use the Snapdragon 865 SoC. It will feature a powerful 108MP camera. In fact, Xiaomi recently shared new camera samples flaunting the device’s zooming prowess. In addition to these, the Xiaomi Mi 10 will come with LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.0.

Xiaomi has now officially announced that the Mi 10 will support Wi-Fi 6. This is the latest Wi-Fi standard in the 5G era. Asides from boosting network speed, Wi-Fi 6 also optimizes the performance experience of a large number of devices at the same time.

Upon the release of the official Wi-Fi 6 standard back in September 2019, we learned some information about it. It is backward compatible with a/b/g/n/ac. It also supports from 1GHz to 6GHz. This includes the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands currently in use.

Theoretically, the maximum rate of Wi-Fi 6 is as high as 9.6Gbps, thanks to the introduction of MU-MIMO 1024QAM modulation, 8 * 8MIMO, and other technologies. The standard can intelligently arrange smartphones or IoT devices to sleep when they don’t need communication.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 will be unveiled on February 13. There are rumors that Xiaomi is working on a Wi-Fi 6 router that it may also unveil at the same event.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Commercial Aired At Oscars Even Before Its Announcement by beejayvince(m): 10:07am On Feb 10, 2020
Samsung will announce its upcoming foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip on February 11. Before now, we have seen leaks and rumors about the device. Now, we have seen something about it right from Samsung.

The Korean company has shown off the Galaxy Z Flip. Samsung dropped this huge tease at this year’s Oscars Awards ahead of its own “Unpacked” event.

Samsung aired an ad that showed the Galaxy Z Flip sitting on a table on its own. We also saw the foldable phone folded up. From the add, the phone appears not to fold completely flat. This is unlike the Motorola Razr which folds completely flat.

The Galaxy Z Flip’s fold will have a crease in the center of the main screen. This is apparently a natural characteristic of the screen. The outer screen may be small but it has full colors. According to the ad, you can answer or reject a call directly from here.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S20 series alongside the Galaxy Z Flip at the event.

Phones / Apple Iphone 9/ Iphone SE 2 Will Be Announced In March by beejayvince(m): 8:11am On Feb 09, 2020
Apple launched the iPhone SE back in 2016. The launch of the phone’s successor is now just around the corner. Rumors and leaks over the past couple of months point to a 2020 first-quarter launch. Now, there is even more solid information pointing at that.

Renown leakster Evan Blass has revealed that Apple will launch the iPhone SE 2 in mid-March. We are still yet to confirm the exact naming of the device. It could be the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9.

According to earlier rumors, the iPhone 9 will have a design that is similar to the iPhone 8’s. This means huge bezels and Touch ID physical home button. However, a separate rumor has suggested that the device will come with Face ID.

The iPhone 9 is also said to sport the A13 Bionic chip. We first saw this chip on the iPhone 11 lineup. Other details about the upcoming iPhone 9 include 3GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. The device will reportedly sport a single rear camera.

The iPhone 9 will be available in Silver, Red, and Space Gray. We have already seen the device in leaked renders. It will reportedly start at $399. We will likely get to confirm all the leaked specs in about a month.

Phones / Xiaomi Shares New Camera Samples Flaunting The Mi 10’s Zooming Prowess by beejayvince(m): 8:40am On Feb 07, 2020
Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Mi 10. One of the main features of the device is that it features a 108MP camera. The device uses the Snapdragon 865 chipset. We expect it to also come with a high refresh rate and a massive battery.

Back to the Xiaomi Mi 10 camera, we have now seen new photos that show off the device’s zooming powers. It was apparently snowing in Beijing, and Lu Weibing Xiaomi VP, shared some camera samples on Weibo.

Weibing used the opportunity of having the snow to flaunt one of the company’s upcoming smartphones’ camera zooming prowess. He captioned the post “Thrilled with the new phone.”

The VP did not explicitly name the phone, but it may just be the upcoming Mi 10 or Mi 10 Pro. With the success of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 in the camera department, we expect even more from the Mi 10.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 phones will likely launch sometime in February with up to 12GB of RAM and support for up to 65W fast-charging.

Phones / Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold With Huawei Mate X-like Design Appears In A New Patent by beejayvince(m): 4:10pm On Feb 05, 2020
There have been talks of a foldable phone from Xiaomi for quite a while. In fact, we have seen the foldable phone in a video showing panels that can be folded on both sides. While we are still waiting for this device, Xiaomi already presented the Mi MIX Alpha. The MIX Alpha is a phone which sports a display that surrounds its body.

So, does this mean that Xiaomi has abandoned the idea of the foldable phone? Apparently not! We have now seen a new patent which shows the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold.

We have seen many patents of Xiaomi-branded phones over the past months. Many of them present quite exciting devices. One of them is a patent for a top-corner selfie camera design.

The new patent shows the design of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold. As seen, the device will sport a design that is similar to the Huawei Mate X design. Recall that the Huawei Mate X went on sale for roughly $2,400 and sold out in minutes in China up to three times.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold features a central hinge via which you can fold the display outwards. There is a panel with curved edges and a module for a dual-camera setup.

Even though the patent document does not reveal the specifications of the device, it is quite safe to say that it will be a top-model device. We expect it to use the Snapdragon 865 SoC. However, we can only wait for official information from Xiaomi to get the specs.

Phones / Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite With Android 10 Appears On Geekbench by beejayvince(m): 2:50pm On Feb 05, 2020
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite running Android 10 has allegedly made an appearance on Geekbench. The listing was allegedly first spotted by Piunikaweb. This is the first time that we are seeing the Mi A2 Lite with Android 10.

According to reports, the test was carried out on an MSM8953. This is the motherboard that integrates the Snapdragon 625 which powers the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite.

There are listings for the 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM variants running Android 10. According to the listings, the 3GB RAM model scored 146 in the single-core test and 808 in the multi-core test. The 4GB RAM model attained 169 and 972 in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

However, it is not hard to get Geekbench to report fake information. XDA Developers has already covered this many times. It may be odd to spread misinformation about a mid-range device, but it is possible.

Whether this info is fake or not, however, Xiaomi has already confirmed that it is working on Android 10 for the Mi A2 Lite. So, this listing suggests that the device will indeed run Android 10. However, we do not know how soon this will happen.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy S20 Phones Appear On Geekbench With 12GB RAM And Snapdragon 865 by beejayvince(m): 8:02am On Feb 05, 2020
The launch of Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy S20 series is just around the corner. Over the past couple of months, there have been rumors and leaks about the devices. For example, we got info that the Galaxy S20 Ultra will boast a 108MP camera.

All of the three devices in the series have now passed through Geekbench 5.1. The Galaxy S20 has model number SM-G981, the S20+ has model number SM-G986, and the S20 Ultra has model number SM-G988. The Korean versions of the devices have “N” at the end of the model numbers.

The US versions, on the other hand, have “U”. Usually, the “F” versions find their way to Europe.

It is of note that the model numbers are 1 higher than usual. For example, the Galaxy S10e is G970 and the S10+ is G975. This probably means that the listed devices are the 5G variants. The LTE models will probably bear G980 and G985 for the Galaxy S20 and S20+ respectively. It appears that the Galaxy S20 Ultra will not have an LTE version.

From the Geekbench listing, we see that the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra will pack 12GB of RAM. Their benchmark scores are quite close and match up with those of other Snapdragon 865 devices.

POCO is getting ready to unveil its next-gen smartphone, the POCO X2. The device will come as a successor to 2018’s POCO F1. There were earlier rumors of a POCO F2. In fact, the company reportedly filed a patent application for the device. However, we are apparently getting the POCO X2 instead.

POCO will officially launch the POCO X2 with a 120Hz display on February 4 in India. Over the past couple of weeks, there have been more and more leaks about the device. Now, we will get to confirm all the leaks in a short while.

Phones / Samsung’s Foldable Galaxy Z Flip Revealed In Leaked Video by beejayvince(m): 1:45pm On Feb 03, 2020
The first-gen Samsung Galaxy Fold attained quite a level of success. It was so successful that it sold out in five minutes in China at the time.

Now, we are awaiting the launch of the Fold’s successor. We have already seen leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, which will be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The device recently passed 3C certification. It will reportedly launch with the Snapdragon 855 chipset.

We have now seen what is allegedly a hands-on video of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Leaker Ben Geskin took to Twitter to post a short clip of what he claimed to be the foldable phone.

The clip does not really show much about the device beyond what we have already seen in earlier leaks. However, it shows a bit of how the phone might actually work out in practice. The video shows that the phone is portable enough to slip into a pocket or handbag. This is quite similar to Motorola’s new Razr phone.

We expect the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip to launch alongside the Galaxy S20 series this month. So, it is only a matter of time before we get all the confirmed details of the device.

Phones / Android Phones And Iphones To Use The Same Charging Cable? Europe Votes In Favor by beejayvince(m): 1:18pm On Feb 03, 2020
Many old Android devices make use of the micro-USB cable. Newer Android phones today now use the USB Type-C cable. It is gradually replacing the older micro-USB cables. However, iPhones still use Apple’s Lightning Cable.

If you are switching from an Android device to an iPhone – or vice versa – you will need a new charging cable. It appears, however, that things are about to change.

Imagine a world where you do not need to get a new charging cable because your old cable is not compatible with your new device. Europe has shown that it is ready to make this standard come to life.

The European Parliament has voted 582-40 in favor of a resolution urging Lawmakers to set a standard for charging cables. According to the resolution:

“Continuing fragmentation of the market for chargers for mobile phones and other small and medium-sized electronic devices translates into an increase in e-waste and consumer frustration.”

Even though this resolution is not a law yet, this is a good start in that direction. The 582-40 vote already shows that the idea is well-accepted in Europe. For it to become a law, the European Commission would have to draft a law and vote on it in July.

However, Apple has its reservations concerning the resolution. The company said in a statement published in the Financial Times:

“We believe regulation that forces conformity across the type of connector built into all smartphone stifles innovation rather than encouraging it, and would harm consumers in Europe and the economy as a whole. We hope the Commission will continue to seek a solution that does not restrict the industry’s ability to innovate and bring exciting new technology to customers.”

Phones / Lg Quietly Rolls Out Desktop Mode To The Lg V50 Thinq With Ux 9.0 Update by beejayvince(m): 8:37pm On Jan 29, 2020
LG recently released the Android 10 update for the LG V50 ThinQ. This update came early for the device and was a surprise to fans. The update came with the UX 9.0, LG’s custom version of Android 10.

The changelog of the update did not contain much. However, users of the LG V50 ThinQ have now had a chance to experience and enjoy the update. Users have now seen what exactly the UX 9.0 has to offer.

The update apparently comes with more than just the run-of-the-mill changes. According to @SomeGadgetGuy on Twitter, with the update, the LG V50 ThinQ now supports a Desktop Mode.

@SomeGadgetGuy reveals that even though the UX 9.0’s Desktop Mode does not enjoy the refinement of Samsung DeX or Huawei Desktop Mode, it is more polished than the one developed by Google.

To setup up Desktop Mode on your LG V50 ThinQ running UX 9.0, you have to connect the device to an external monitor using a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter. Once the connection is established, a “screen sharing mode” prompt will appear. You can then choose to “tap to switch to desktop mode”.

Phones / Huawei P40 Pro shown In New Mockup Renders And Video; Sports A Five-camera Setup by beejayvince(m): 7:47am On Jan 28, 2020
The launch of the Huawei P40 series is just around the corner. The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be Huawei’s first flagship devices of 2020.

As expected, there have been rumors and leaks about the devices in the series. The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will reportedly launch in March without Google Mobile Services.

In fact, we earlier saw renders of the devices, showing the P40 Pro with five rear cameras. Also, it has been confirmed that the Huawei P40 Pro will not come with a graphene battery as earlier rumored.

We have now seen a new set of official-looking renders of the upcoming Huawei P40 series. The renders were published by Waqar Khan. Khan also created a video mockup of the P40 Pro.

From the renders, we see that Huawei’s upcoming flagship will feature four curved edges. If the authentication technology is anything to go by, then we will see an AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Huawei is also apparently ditching the waterdrop notch seen in last year’s P30 series for a pill-shaped punch-hole. The punch-hole houses the dual-selfie camera setup. The renders also show Huawei’s signature red power key and Leica branding on the camera.

Phones / India Surpasses The United States To Become The Second-largest Smartphone Market by beejayvince(m): 9:11pm On Jan 27, 2020
For quite some time, India has been considered the second-largest smartphone market in the world. However, this was not official.

New research by Counterpoint for 2019 has revealed that India has now officially surpassed the United States in this regard. This means that India has now officially become the world’s second-largest smartphone market.

In 2019, India recorded the shipment of 158 million smartphone units. This is a 7% year-on-year increase. However, even that was not enough to make the country surpass China in terms of shipment or revenue.

India’s second place in smartphone shipments is largely due to Chinese smartphone manufacturers. Brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo have now become very popular in India. In fact, Chinese phone companies have 72% of the Indian market.

The Indian smartphone market is so lucrative that Xiaomi even made more sales there than in China. The company sold 44 million units in India in 2019.

It is interesting to note that Counterpoint’s Research reveals that Realme has become the fastest-growing smartphone brand in the Indian market. The brand has a growth rate of 255% with a market share increase from 3% in 2018 to 10% in 2019.

Meanwhile, Samsung is the only non-Chinese smartphone brand to make it to the top 5 in the Indian market.

Phones / Whatsapp Will No Longer Work On These Devices From February 1, 2020 by beejayvince(m): 8:42pm On Jan 27, 2020
WhatsApp recently bade farewell to Windows Phone. The giant chatting app is now ready to do the same with some Android and iOS devices. This is not surprising as there have been talks about it for quite a while.

Starting from February 1, 2020, WhatsApp will no longer work on phones running Android 2.3.7 or iOS 7 (and earlier). So, if you are using an Android phone running that Android version or earlier, then WhatsApp will stop working on your phone from next Saturday. The same applies if you are using an iPhone 4 or an earlier model.

When WhatsApp pulled the plug on Windows Phone, the app no longer started. In fact, it was impossible to access the chat history. So, you may want to save a backup of your chats before Saturday if your phone is running any of the old Operating Systems. That way, you will have your important conversations intact upon switching to a more updated phone.

Phones / Ulefone Armor X6 Rugged Phone Survives 98°C Hot Water And -20°C Fridge Tests by beejayvince(m): 8:14pm On Jan 27, 2020
The Ulefone Armor X6 is Ulefone’s latest rugged phone. It has IP68/IP69K certification as well as MIL-STD-810G certification. This makes it quite suitable for people who use their phones in ‘difficult’ environments. If you do outdoor sports, for example, this phone will be suitable for you.

Ulefone has just released a new video in which it subjected the Ulefone Armor X6 to extreme temperature tests. The tester repeatedly soaked the device up in water of up to 98°C. It survived. In fact, there was no accidental shutdown, and the phone still worked normally.

The Ulefone Armor X6 was then put into a tank filled with water. The tester then put it in a fridge at -20°C. The device survived this well. Even though it was frozen in a large ice cube, it kept working.

Ulefone Armor X6 Specifications
The Ulefone Armor X6 sports a 5.0-inch HD display. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The device has an 8MP rear camera. It uses a quad-core processor and runs Android 9.0. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

Phones / POCO X2 With 64MP Camera And 120hz Display Will Arrive On February 4: #smoothaf by beejayvince(m): 2:11pm On Jan 27, 2020
POCO recently became independent of Xiaomi to become a standalone brand. Following this independence, the brand is now set to launch its first smartphone, the POCO X2.

POCO has revealed that the POCO X2 will arrive next week Tuesday, February 4. The device will feature an “extreme refresh rate” for “extreme gaming”. It will sport a 64MP camera using the Sony IMX686 sensor.

The POCO X2 was introduced on Twitter with the tagline “SmoothAF”. The tweet also includes a short link that directs you to a POCO X2 landing page that advertises the device’s 120Hz display.

The landing page shows your current screen refresh rate with some message to make you consider switching to the POCO X2. At the end of the message, there is another link that leads you to a page showing the launch countdown.

The 60Hz message reads:

"HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ON A SCREEN TECHNOLOGY ALMOST 2 DECADES OLD? LET GO OF THESE DELUSIONS OF ADEQUACY. DON’T KID YOURSELF."

The 90Hz message reads:

"IT’S KINDA CUTE THAT YOU THOUGHT YOU ARE SMOOTH AND FAST ALL THIS WHILE. LIFE IS FULL OF DISAPPOINTMENTS, WHY STICK WITH ANOTHER ONE? DON’T KID YOURSELF."

Even if your device has a 120Hz refresh rate, there is a message for you:

"OH SO YOU THINK YOU MADE A SMART CHOICE BY SPENDING ALL THAT MONEY ON THE LATEST AND THE BEST? WE’D AGREE WITH YOU, BUT THEN WE BOTH WOULD BE WRONG. DON’T KID YOURSELF."

What if you visit the page on a computer. Right? Well, POCO still has a message for you:

"WE KINDA RAN OUT OF BUDGET WHILE DESIGNING THIS WEBSITE, AND THAT’S WHY IT’S MOBILE ONLY. TRY IT OUT ON YOUR PHONE, WILL YOU?"

The whole idea is apparently to downplay your current phone’s refresh rate and advertise the POCO X2’s 120Hz display. So, when you click on the link after the message, you are directed to the countdown page which also shows some features of the device.

The launch is only a few days away and we can’t wait to see if the POCO X2 performs up to the brand’s hype.

Phones / Nokia 9.1 Shelved As HMD Focuses On The Snapdragon 865-powered Nokia 9.2 Instead by beejayvince(m): 6:22pm On Jan 25, 2020
HMD is working on a new flagship Nokia device. According to rumors, the Finnish company will launch the new device at MWC 2020. There were earlier reports suggesting that it would be the Nokia 9.1 with Snapdragon 855+. Eventually, we reported that HMD was allegedly delaying the launch of the device to accommodate the Snapdragon 865 chipset. This is probably in an attempt to avoid what happened with the Nokia 9 PureView.

New information from Nokiapoweruser has shown that HMD is indeed shelving the Nokia 9.1 PureView. So, what we will be getting instead is the Nokia 9.2 PureView.

Nokiapoweruser claims that it got the information from a tip. The tip also claims that HMD will launch the Nokia 9.2 in the first half of 2020. However, there is no official information about this from HMD at the moment.

Also, according to the tip, the Nokia 9.2 PureView will come with a “great camera”. But it will not feature the “Light camera technology” that was a part of the Nokia 9 PureView. The new camera will reportedly use a big sensor from an old Nokia camera partner like Toshiba.

When it comes to pricing, we believe that HMD will price the Nokia 9.2 PureView reasonably lower than other premium flagship devices out there. Even though it will feature the Snapdragon 865 chipset like the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the OnePlus 8 Pro, it could come with a significantly lower price tag.

Phones / Photos: Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro With Its 65W Charger Leaked In Live Images by beejayvince(m): 8:48pm On Jan 24, 2020
Xiaomi is gearing towards the release of the Mi 10 series. The high-end series will include the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. Ahead of release, we have seen several leaks and rumors about the devices. For example, the leaks suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro will come with a 4,800mAh battery.

A poster image recently revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G will be presented on February 11. In the image, we also see the design of the phone’s rear panel. The device will come with a “traditional” design.

The image of the rear panel of the phone reveals a quad-camera setup. The cameras are vertically arranged in the upper-left corner. Three of these cameras will be in the same module while the fourth one will be separate. Below this setup is the LED flash.

Coming over to the front, the phone will feature a punch-hole display instead of a pop-up camera. The screen has a slight curvature at the edges.

The leaked images reveal more than just the design of the phone. They also show the charger that will likely be included in the box. The charger image shows that it will support up to 65W charging.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is expected to be powered by a 4,500mAh battery. It will reportedly use the Snapdragon 865 chipset and feature 120Hz refresh rate.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy S20 5G Lineup And Galaxy Fold 2 Pricing Revealed by beejayvince(m): 7:39pm On Jan 24, 2020
Samsung will launch the Galaxy S20 series very soon and details of the devices keep popping up. Over the past couple of months, specs of the devices have leaked. Now, the pricing of the 5G phones in the series have been revealed. The prices were revealed by popular leakster Max Weinbach.

The prices revealed are for the base storage variants of the devices. Some are available in ranges that represent uncertainty and not storage options.

This pricing is higher when compared with 2019’s Samsung Galaxy S10 series. The Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ started at €750, €900, and €1,000 respectively.

According to Max, the US prices of the Galaxy S20 series will be lower than the European prices. He guessed that the Galaxy S20, the Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra would go for $850, $950, and $1,200 respectively. However, the US prices include VAT while the Euro prices do not.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 (Samsung Galaxy Z Flip) is also expected to launch with a price tag of €1,400. This is only €100 more than the rumored price of the Galaxy S20 Ultra. It would also be a steal in comparison with the first Galaxy Fold which launched at €2,000. However, the Galaxy Fold 2 will reportedly use the Snapdragon 855 chipset and not the 866.
