Phones / Iphone 12’s Leaked Benchmark Scores Show That It Beats The Galaxy S20 Hands Down by beejayvince(m): 8:47am On Mar 20, 2020
The iPhone 12 will launch sometime this year if all goes as planned. Of course, we expect it to be a speed monster with really powerful specs. However, new information suggests that the device will even be more powerful than we probably expect.

We have now seen leaked benchmark scores of the iPhone 12. According to the results, the device will beat every Android phone of 2020 hands down. Even the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is not left out.

Chinese tech publication, ITHome, posted the benchmark scores on Weibo. The alleged Geekbench 5 result shows a sing-core score of 1,658 and a multi-core score of 4,612. These scores place the iPhone 12 on par with the latest iPad Pro. This means that it may even scorch many laptops in terms of raw processing power.

In comparison, the fastest Android phone on earth currently only scores 805 on single-core and 3,076 on multi-core tests. As a matter of fact, these scores already place it below the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s A13 Bionic chip with 1,334 on single-core and 3,517 on multi-core tests.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is currently the King of the Android Hill, it does not catch up with the processing power that the iPhone 12 will allegedly come with. The iPhone 12’s rumored A14 Bionic chipset obliterates the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s Snapdragon 865 by a wide margin.

According to the leaked benchmark result, the iPhone 12’s A14 Bionic processor will run at about 3.1GHz. It will use a 5nm manufacturing process.

Phones / Fujitsu Arrows 5G Is The First Snapdragon 865 Phone With Yuba Rear Camera Setup by beejayvince(m): 7:39am On Mar 20, 2020
Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 865 chipset late last year. Since then, a number of phones have employed the chipset for improved performance. Now, many of these smartphones use the matrix-style rear camera setup. Some use the strip-style design. However, the Yuba style is currently one of the most popular rear camera setups in smartphones.

There is now information that the first Snapdragon 865 phone to sport the Yuba camera setup is on the way. The phone, Fujitsu Arrows 5G, will launch in the summer. However, while we wait, we have seen many of its features in the promo posters.

The front of the Fujitsu Arrows 5G is similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S10. The back, on the other hand, has a look like that of the Huawei Mate 20. The phone has a punch-hole on the display and a Yuba triple-camera setup on the rear.

The Fujitsu Arrows 5G sports a 6.7-inch QHD+ OLED display with an ultrasonic screen fingerprint sensor. It uses the Snapdragon 865 chipset and enjoys 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device runs Android 10.

The triple-camera setup of the Fujitsu Arrows 5G comprises a 48MP wide-angle primary shooter, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto lens. It supports 3x optical zoom. Sitting in the punch-hole on the front of the device is a 32MP camera.

The Fujitsu Arrows 5G has an uplink speed of 182Mbps (Sub6) and a downlink speed of 3.4Gbps. However, it will also reportedly support uplink speeds of 480Mbps and downlink speeds of 4.1Gbps.

Phones / Honor 30S Leaks In White And Orange Renders, Showing A Side Fingerprint Scanner by beejayvince(m): 8:28am On Mar 19, 2020
There have been earlier leaks along with some details about the Honor 30S. The phone, which appears to be a mid-range offshoot of the Honor V30, will reportedly use the new HiSilicon Kirin 820 5G chipset.

We have now seen new leaked renders of the Honor 30S. The new renders show the device in White and Orange color options. We now also have more information about the device.

The first image shows the Honor 30S in orange color. The render clearly shows the device’s rear camera setup. This setup is similar to that of the Honor View 30. However, the Honor 30S render shows another hole below the flash. This could be a Time-of-Flight sensor. It could also be an autofocus sensor or even a microphone. The camera specs may also be different from the View 30’s.

The orange color on the back of the Honor 30S has some sort of shift pattern. Also, there appears to be a slight indentation on the right of the device. This is most likely a fingerprint scanner as none is present on the rear.

The white render of the Honor 30S also shows a pattern that is similar to that of the orange render. There are some blues, greens, and purples reflecting on the rear. It clearly shows the fingerprint scanner on the right side of the device.

The Honor 30S’s design looks pretty neat. The device will use the Kirin 820 5G chipset. This means that it will support 5G. However, the chipset also places it in the brand’s midrange category. The device will support 40W fast charging. It will reportedly launch for around $350 – $400.

Phones / Oppo Reno3 Launches Internationally With Mediatek's Helio P90 Chipset & 48MP Cam by beejayvince(m): 7:12am On Mar 19, 2020
Oppo launched the Reno3 and Reno3 Pro devices in China back in December 2019. The Reno3 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000L chipset. On the other hand, the Pro variant uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chip. The Snapdragon 765G is also used in the Redmi K30 and the Redmi K30 5G.

Oppo launched the Reno3 Pro internationally earlier this month. It comes with some features that are frankly different from what the Chinese version offers. Instead of the Snapdragon 765, the device sports MediaTek’s Helio P95 chipset. Also, there is a camera upgrade from the Chinese variant’s 48MP primary shooter to a 64MP shooter.

Now, Oppo has launched the Reno3 too internationally. Like the Reno3 Pro, the international version of the Reno3 is different from the Chinese version. According to reports, the international version of the Oppo Reno 3 ditched the Dimensity 1000L chip. It instead uses a MediaTek Helio P90 SoC.

The camera specs are also different, even though both variants sport quad-camera setups. While the Chinese variant of the Oppo Reno3 sports a 64MP Sony IMX 686 primary shooter, the international version uses a 48MP primary sensor. Along with this are a 13MP telephoto zoom lens, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP monochrome depth sensor. The front camera of the international variant sees an upgrade from the Chinese variant’s 32MP to 44MP.

Also, unlike the Chinese variant, the international variant of the Reno3 only goes as high as 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The Oppo Reno3 sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The device runs ColorOS 7 based on Android 10. It is powered by a 4,025mAh battery with support for VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge.

We do not yet have information about the international pricing of the Oppo Reno3. However, considering that it does not use the more premium Dimensity 1000L chip, it will likely be cheaper than the Chinese variant’s CNY 3,399 (~480) starting price. Reports have it that the device is on Oppo Sri Lanka’s website in Midnight Black and Auroral Blue color options.

Phones / Apple Iphone 9 Plus To Launch With A 5.5-inch Display And The A13 Bionic Chipset by beejayvince(m): 9:06pm On Mar 18, 2020
We are currently waiting for Apple to launch the iPhone 9. However, even as we wait, there are reports that the company is also working on a Plus variant.

The iPhone 9 will launch with a 4.7-inch display. This is quite small according to some people’s standards. So, the iPhone 9 Plus will reportedly sport a 5.5-inch screen. Just like the iPhone 9, the Plus version will use the A13 Bionic chipset. This will match the device up with the current iPhone 11 lineup.

According to the source, iOS 14 code confirmed the iPhone 9 Plus. The iPhone 9 and 9 Plus will replace the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus respectively as the cheapest entry points to the iOS realm.

We expect both the iPhone 9 and 9 Plus to keep the TouchID security option. The iPhone 9 lineup design is quite similar to the iPhone 8’s. This may be a dealbreaker for some people, considering the huge bezels. However, with low price points, the phones will still likely be well accepted.

The iPhone 9 was supposed to launch in March. However, the launch has been delayed indefinitely as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak affecting the supply chain.

The display will support 90Hz refresh rate. However, you will have the option to set it manually between 60Hz and 90Hz or leave it on automatic switching. The spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus around the world has led to the cancellation of events. However, companies are still unveiling new devices. Nokia has now quietly unveiled the Nokia C2, a budget Android Go-powered phone.

The Nokia C2 is an affordable phone with modest specifications. It has a 5.7-inch HD+ display with no notch or cutout. Using a quad-core UniSoc chipset, the device offers you 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This internal storage is expandable by up to 64GB via a microSD card.

On the rear, the Nokia C2 sports a 5MP camera with LED flash. Sitting on the front of the device is another 5MP camera for selfies. These are just basic camera specs, to say the least.

Interestingly, the Nokia C2 has a dedicated Google Assistant button. This button offers quick access to voice search and commanding the Assistant.

The Nokia C2 will come with the Android Pie version of Android Go. Android Go is the stripped-back OS designed for emerging markets. The device will be available in Black and Cyan color options.

Vivo has just announced a successor to the Vivo NEX 3 5G. The new device, Vivo NEX 3S 5G, is basically just a minor refresh of the NEX 3 5G. Even from the name, one can deduce that the differences are cosmetic.

Vivo NEX 3S 5G Specifications and Features
The Vivo NEX 3S 5G sports the same 6.89-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display that the NEX 3 5G does. However, it supports HDR10+ instead of just HDR10 that the older device does.

In the camera department, the two phones also have quite similar specs. We see a triple-camera setup with a 64MP main shooter, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 13MP telephoto lens. A motorized pop-up unit houses the 16MP selfie camera along with an LED flash.

However, under the hood, we see an upgrade in the Vivo NEX 3S 5G. The device uses the Snapdragon 865 chipset, using the 5G-capable Snapdragon X55 modem supporting NSA + SA. In addition, the device offers increased memory and storage speeds.

The Vivo NEX 3S 5G uses LPDDR5 memory instead of the LPDDR4X. This offers a 29% increase in bandwidth. It has RAM options of 8GB and 12GB. Also, it uses UFS 3.1 storage of 256GB. The UFS 3.1 storage offers better performance than the UFS 3.0 that is currently seen on many smartphones.

The Coronavirus has now spread to quite a large number of countries around the world. In fact, because of the virus, many events got canceled. The cancellation of the MWC 2020 earlier this year got many people talking. The spread of the virus has also caused some factories to close down or produce at a reduced capacity.

However, the Coronavirus outbreak is not only affecting hardware. Apparently, it now also affects software efforts in the tech industry. As a result of the spread of the virus, Nokia is revising its Android 10 update schedule.

The Android 10 update hit Pixel phones back in August 2019. Shortly after that, Nokia released a timeline of the release of the update to its various devices. Already, devices such as the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, and Nokia 7 Plus have gotten the update. Others include the Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8.1, and Nokia 9 PureView. However, other devices may be delayed.

As with other brands, Nokia is taking precautions to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. The precautions affect Nokia’s staff and can definitely impact productivity. Because of this, the update for some devices has been shifted by some months.

Juho Sarvikas, the CPO for Nokia at HMD Global, took to Twitter to say that Nokia still hopes to be the “fastest brand update” for Android 10.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy S20 Sold Half As Many Units As The Galaxy S10 On The First Day by beejayvince(m): 7:36am On Mar 04, 2020
Sales of the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra have been quite lower than expected. In fact, sales of the Galaxy S20 series are 50% lower than those of the S10 series. This is according to reports from The Korea Herald.

On the first day of sales, Samsung sold just 70,800 units of the Galaxy S20. This is much lower than the 140,000 sales of the Galaxy S10 made on the first day.

The Korean Herald believes that this decline in sales is as a result of the Galaxy S20 series price level. Coupled with this is the fear of the coronavirus that has reduced the frequentation of physical stores.

Note that Samsung has lowered the price of the Galaxy S10 and S10+ a lot. This may also be a contributor to the poorer sales of the Galaxy S20 series.

Gaming / Balldog! Is An Addictive Animal Hurling Casual Game For Mobile by beejayvince(m): 7:46am On Mar 03, 2020
Angry Birds may be one of the pioneer of animal catapult games. However, since Angry Birds, there have been more mobile Casual Games with the catapult feature. One of these is BallDog!

BallDog! is a game that involves you propelling a dog in the air as far as you can. The dog is quite spherical and looks happy with the act. We could say that it is fulfilling its potential. Now, if you do not want to use a dog, the game offers you options. There is a store where you can buy a cat, a chicken, a pig, or an alligator.

BallDog! Gameplay
BallDog! is quite an easy game to play. It is well suited for touchscreen devices. All you have to do is pull back on the catapult, adjust it to the right angle, and release it. Your character goes flying in the air.

You can keep your character in the air by holding your finger on the screen. When you do this, you will see a stream of bubbles keeping the character aloft.

However, it is not all rosy. Flying in the air, you will meet obstacles like pointy-beaked birds and floating mines. You will try as much as possible to avoid these obstacles.

BallDog! offers you three lives. Every time you hit an obstacle, you lose a life. It is game over when you lose all three lives.

It is not just obstacles that you get to meet in the air. The game also offers you powerups littering the sky. In addition to these powerups, you can go to the store to buy upgrades for your catapult.

BallDog! has a friend system as well as global and personal leaderboards. This means that going as far as you can is not the only aim of the game. You need to go farther than your friends to overtake them on the friend board.

Phones / Google Applies For License To Bring Google Mobile Services Back To Huawei Phones by beejayvince(m): 8:19am On Feb 27, 2020
It is no longer news that the United States put Huawei in its entities list. This banned the Chinese company from access to US-related technology. The ban has had a serious impact on Huawei phones with newer phones lacking Google Mobile Services (GMS).

However, these phones still use Android because of the system’s Open Source nature and its Linux roots. What this means is that the phones run Android OS but lack apps such as Gmail and YouTube.

Now, Google has applied for an exemption from the US government. This exemption would enable Google to re-license Huawei to use its Mobile Services.

The US has already granted Microsoft an exemption, and the company can now work with the Chinese giant. If Google also gets this exemption, then the search engine giant can give GMS access back to Huawei. What this means is that users of the phones will now have access to Google apps once again.

Huawei has already developed the Huawei Mobile Services as an alternative to Google Mobile Services. The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro came with the HMS. The upcoming Huawei P40 series will also use it. However, the HMS is not exactly a full-fledged substitute for GMS, especially for users outside China.

Phones / Redmi Confirms The Design Of The Redmi K30 Pro Ahead Of Its Launch by beejayvince(m): 7:31am On Feb 27, 2020
The launch of the Redmi K30 Pro is just around the corner, and we have now seen its design. Over the past couple of months, there have been rumors and leaks about the device.

Now, we have confirmed the design of the device, thanks to the company itself. So, while we wait for the launch of the phone, we now know how it looks.

Last year, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro launched with practically the same design. There were slight differences in the hardware though. However, this year, Redmi is doing something different. The Redmi K30 Pro’s design is different from what we see in the Redmi K30.

We have not gotten a full insight into the design of the Redmi K30 Pro. However, from the image, we can confirm that the device will come with a notchless display. Rather, it will house its selfie camera in a pop-up setup. It will have quite small bezels.

As we reported earlier, the Redmi K30 Pro will launch in March 2020. However, we do not yet have an exact launch date.

Phones / LG V60 Thinq With Dual-screen, 5,000mah Battery And Snapdragon 865 Is Official by beejayvince(m): 9:23pm On Feb 26, 2020
LG has officially unveiled the highly-anticipated LG V60 ThinQ. The device comes with high-end specs that are typical of LG’s V series.

The LG V60 ThinQ uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor, coupled with Qualcomm’s X55 modem. The X55 modem enables 5G network support on the device. The phone also comes with a revamped dual-screen accessory.

LG V60 ThinQ Specifications
The LG V60 ThinQ sports a massive 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED display with an aspect ratio of 20.5:9. The display has a waterdrop notch which houses a selfie camera. The device also has an in-display fingerprint sensor under a Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The LG V60 ThinQ comes with a dual-camera setup on the rear. The setup consists of a 64MP primary shooter with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide camera with a 117-degree field of view. This setup partners with a Time-of-Flight sensor. Sitting in the notch on the front of the device is a 10MP selfie camera.

The device comes with support for 8K video recording. It also supports HDR10+ while using the camera in manual mode.

Under the hood, the LG V60 ThinQ uses the Snapdragon 865 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The storage is expandable via a microSD card slot.

Running Android 10 with LG UX 9.0 on top, the LG V60 ThinQ features a dedicated Google Assistant key. This key is located on the left-hand side of the device.

As is now tradition with the V series, the LG V60 ThinQ uses a 32-Bit Quad DAC. It also comes with stereo speakers and a four-microphone setup. The flagship device is dust and water-resistant, being IP68-certified. It is also MIL-STD 810G-compliant.

The LG V60 ThinQ is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4+ and wireless charging. The device also supports the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard, like the Xiaomi Mi 10.

LG also updated its dual-screen accessory with the LG V60 ThinQ. The dual-screen is LG’s way of adding a secondary display without the problems of foldable displays. The second screen connects via a USB-C port. Unlike what we see in the V50, it lacks its own power supply.

LG V60 ThinQ Price and Availability
The LG V60 ThinQ’s price is still a mystery for now. However, we know that the device will be available in White and Blue color options. It will come later this year.

Huawei may have been quieter with phone launches since the ban was imposed against it. However, the Chinese company is still launching new devices.

While we await the flagship Huawei P40 series, we have just seen a new Huawei device on Geekbench. The specifications of this device show that it is a mid-range phone.

The phone, with model number MED-AL00 was previously spotted on Chinese 3C and TENAA databases. Now, from the Geekbench listing, it is confirmed that it uses MediaTek’s Helio P35 chipset. The listing also shows that the device runs Android 10 and enjoys 4GB of RAM. It scored 884 points in the single-core test and 4,356 points in the multi-core test.

Rumors have it that the MED-AL00 could launch as early as next month. We do not yet know what series it will be a part of. However, judging by the SoC, it will be quite a low-end device. So, it will likely be very affordable.

Phones / Realme X50 Pro Launches With Snapdragon 865 And 5G Capability For Just N219,300 by beejayvince(m): 9:21pm On Feb 25, 2020
Realme has just announced the Realme X50 Pro. The device comes as Realme’s first 5G phone. This shows that the brand is really pushing into the high-end category. According to Realme, the device supports all “mainstream” 5G bands around the world.

Realme intended to unveil the X50 Pro at the Mobile World Congress this week. However, even with the cancellation of the event, the company still launched the device.

The Realme X50 Pro sports a 6.44-inch 1080p dual punch-hole OLED display with an aspect ratio of 20:9. This display has a refresh rate of 90Hz. According to Realme, it supports HDR10+. The device houses a built-in optical fingerprint reader.

The Realme X50 Pro sports a quad-camera setup. This comprises a 64MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultrawide macro camera, a 12MP 2x telephoto lens, and a monochrome depth sensor. Sitting in the dual punch-holes are a 32MP primary selfie camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera.

The Realme X50 Pro has up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Surprisingly, the device does not have a microSD card slot.

The X50 Pro is powered by a 4,200mAh dual-cell battery and supports 65W “SuperDart” fast-charging. This fast-charging technology can reportedly charge the phone from zero to 60% in 20 minutes and zero to 100% in 35 minutes.

According to Realme, the X50 Pro will cost €550 – €650 (roughly $600 – $700) in Spain. It will cost less than that in China. Even at this price range, this is Realme’s most expensive phone yet. However, with its high-end specs, it is probably worth it.

Phones / Black Shark 3 5G Is Coming With 16GB RAM, A 120hz Display And A 5,000mah Battery by beejayvince(m): 8:01am On Feb 24, 2020
Gaming smartphones have garnered some popularity over the last couple of years. Xiaomi’s Black Shark is especially one of the most popular gaming phone brands. The Black Shark 2 Pro launched with Snapdragon 855+ and 12GB RAM.

Now, Xiaomi is gearing towards the launch of the next phone in the Black Shark lineup. The Black Shark 3 will launch with the Snapdragon 865 chipset. It will have a QHD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate display. Rumor has it that it will launch with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

The brand manager recently posted a poll on Weibo, asking for which battery capacity, charging speed, and charge cycle meet the requirements of 5G gaming phones. Among the options were combinations that are already available on other phones.

The 55W + 4,500mAh combo, for example, is available with the Huawei Mate X. The 65W + 4,000mAh combo comes with the Oppo Reno Ace. The 55W + 4,400mAh combo is also found in the upcoming iQOO 3 5G. All of these also succumb to degradation after 600 cycles.

So, it is safe to say that the Black Shark 3 will launch with a 5,000mAh battery to complement its 120Hz display. It will support 65W fast-charging that is capable of charging the phone from zero to 100% in just 38 minutes.

The Black Shark 3 will launch sometime this year. We will definitely get more information about it before launch.

Phones / Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Appears In First Renders by beejayvince(m): 4:58pm On Feb 21, 2020
Xiaomi officially announced the Mi 10 series less than two weeks ago. However, the company only announced the regular Mi 10 and the Mi 10 Pro. But we got a “Lite” model, starting from the eighth generation. So, will we also get a “Lite” version of the Mi 10 series?

Xiaomi’s Mi Lite models are usually in place to address the mid-range class. So, it is not out of place to get one for the Mi 10 series too.

We have now seen some early renders of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite. One of the noticeable features from the renders include a punch-hole display and a rear camera setup in a circular compartment.

The renders show a device with a fairly symmetrical border. However, the chin may actually be bigger in the final design. The camera’s circular module is positioned in the center of the rear cover. It contains four cameras. Below this setup is the LED flash.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite could arrive in Asia as Xiaomi Mi CC10. We expect it to launch with the Snapdragon 720G, 730G or 765G. It may launch with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage.

What do you think about these renders? Yay or Nay?

Phones / Huawei To Launch Huawei Mobile Services In Europe Through The Honor V30 by beejayvince(m): 7:10am On Feb 18, 2020
According to sources, Honor will release the Honor V30 with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) in the European market next week. If this indeed happens, it will be Huawei’s first pre-installed HMS ecosystem smartphone.

Honor unveiled the V30 in the Chinese market towards the end of 2019. The phone uses Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) in place of Google Mobile Services (GMS). This is as a result of the ban placed on Huawei by the United States.

Huawei Mobile Services is a cross-device, cross-platform service. Huawei placed more focus on the HMS after the ban issue came up. Now, with the official launch of HMS, Huawei apparently has complete ecological capabilities.

Huawei may already be recording successes with the HMS. A few days ago, Turkish Telecom signed an agreement to use the HMS ecosystem to serve its customers. In fact, operators in Turkey are reportedly ready to sell 1 million smartphones running HMS applications in 2020.

According to reports, Honor intended to make this announcement at the MWC 2020. However, with the cancellation of the event, the company will reportedly organize a separate media event for this announcement.

Huawei released the HMS Core 4.0 to the world back in January. The company has since revealed that it already has more than 1.3 million registered developers and over 55,000 applications accessing HMS Core worldwide.
