Business / Trouble For Resident Telcos As Orange Telecom Provider Seeks To Enter Nigeria by beejayvince(m): 8:42am On Jun 21, 2020
Orange is France’s largest telecommunication service provider, and the company is now reportedly looking to enter into two of Africa’s biggest markets, Nigeria and South Africa.

According to reports, Stephane Richard, Orange CEO, disclosed this. He reportedly said that Orange was looking to increase its presence in Africa. The company plans to start this by establishing presence in Nigeria and South Africa. This may, however, take a few months.

At the moment, it is still a mystery when this will be or how it will happen. However, it is important to acknowledge the involvement of Orange in the acquisition of some telecommunication units across Africa. The company acquired four of Airtel’s units in Africa. With this new move in Africa, the mobile network provider could seek a fresh entry or just acquire the licence of one of the existing service providers.

Orange ₦32.7 billion in Jumia in 2016. When Etisalat Nigeria (now 9mobile) got into a financial crisis in 2017, Orange was also there to purchase a 65% stake in Etisalat Nigeria.

Orange is the fourth-largest mobile network operator in Europe and tenth in the world. It has more than 266 million customers worldwide with 89,000 employees in France and 59,000 employees in other parts of the world. It appears the company is more than capable of taking over the Nigerian market.

If Orange’s move into Nigeria is successful, it may bring in new life into the country’s telecommunication market.

Business / Top 10 Mistakes That New Business Owners Make In Nigeria by beejayvince(m): 7:21pm On Jun 19, 2020
So you have suddenly come up with that million-Naira business idea. What next? Time to bring this business idea to life, right? Well, it is not that straightforward. Let no motivational speaker deceive you. If you do not plan properly, you will run into business mistakes that may ruin your business and dash your million-Naira idea out for free. This post lists some of the top mistakes that new business owners make in Nigeria.

In a bid to rush into the business, many business owners have made mistakes that eventually proved costly. This is not just a foreign thing. Business owners make costly business mistakes, even here in Nigeria.

Imagine having to shut down your business after investing hundreds of thousands of Naira into it. In fact, in some cases, it is up to millions of Naira. Imagine losing all the employees you have managed to make, all because of avoidable business mistakes.

We do not want you to make such mistakes. So we are giving you a list of mistakes that business owners often make in Nigeria. Check out the list and be sure to avoid them in your business endeavours.

1. Starting a Business without a Business Plan
This may seem like a trivial issue when starting a business in Nigeria, but it has actually cost many people a lot of money to rectify this. In fact, it has cost many people their businesses in totality. The need for a business plan cannot be over-emphasised.

When starting anything of value in life, it is necessary to have a plan. If you do not draw up a plan, you are almost definitely working towards doom. Of course, some people have managed to eventually find a way around this later, it may not work for you that way.

Before you start out on your business endeavour, you need to draw up a plan. You need to figure out how you intend to achieve your business end goal. This is not something that you just think up in your head. You need to write out your plans so that you are able to follow them strictly.

When you have a business plan, you already know where you want your business to head to. You also know the necessary steps to take towards the success of your business. This makes it easy for you to carry out your daily business activities the proper way.

2. Setting Short-Term Goals with no Long-Term Vision
This is one of the most common mistakes in the business world, even in Nigeria. Ask a new fashion designer what their end goal is for starting that business, and you will likely not get any smart answer. A lot of new business owners are just into the business to feed. This is the difference between “menial” business owners and the people who own huge business conglomerates.

If you do not have a long-term vision for your business, then you will only remain on a spot. With just short-term goals, you will be okay with making just enough money to feed yourself. Why not consider where you want your business to be in the next 5 or 10 years?

Do not just talk about how you want your business to be there to put food in your mouth. Talk about how you want the business to grow. Talk about how you want the business to take on similar businesses that have grown to certain levels. Most importantly, try to write out your long-term vision and follow it judiciously.

3. Hiring for Expense instead of for Expertise or Experience
It is very easy for a new business owner to consider hiring people for cheap. Of course, you may even get twice as many people on board for the same price. However, is it really worth it?

In the short run, it may be like a wonderful idea to hire people for cheap rather than for expertise or experience. But in the long run, this will work against your business. This is considering a situation where you have to choose between expenses and expertise. There may be situations where you may get an expert without spending much too. However, when it becomes an option, choose expertise and experience. Many business owners choose cheap labour and regret it later in the business. Do not make this mistake.

4. Sacrificing Quality for Speed
Of course, you are excited about your new businesses and you want to work as fast as you can. This, in itself, is a good thing. However, you need to make sure that this speed is not at the expense of quality.

It does not matter how fast your business is moving, if you are not giving your customers the high quality they expect, you will eventually lose them. Speed is good, but quality is too big a sacrifice for it.

At the end of the day, it is all about finding the balance. You do not want your business to move too slowly but below-par performance is definitely terrible. Moving quickly is good but when you do it beyond your team’s capability to produce quality results, then the speed backfires.

5. Not keeping Financial Records
That business may be in its infancy stage but you should definitely start keeping financial records. Many startups and new business owners fail to recognise how important this actually is.

You need to know how much you are making and how much you are spending. If you do not keep a record of this, you will not even realise when you start spending more than your profits.

A lot of new business owners have the idea that keeping financial records is only for big businesses. That is a myth. It is important for small and new businesses to keep financial records too. This helps you to be accountable in your new business.

This post is getting long. See the full article here:

emmanuel4758:
let clear it for you... there is such a thing as a percentage larger than
100%, but not everything can have a percentage larger than 100%.

Go and check the topic and come back with your mathematical formulas.

I quote you anywhere that 300% in his context is wrong thou I understand what you are talking about but it can never go in line

That means last week the Republican approval rate is 60 and this week it go up to 70 and now it is 45 I think USA should have play along with your reasoning..

Sometimes what you think that is right might be wrong if you go deeper in it deductive or inductive.

This is a whole bunch of nonsense, but okay.

emmanuel4758:
you are even talking about accumulation of percentages... But check the guy post it hit 300%

So do you mean the percentage is not 100... No matter the calculation you want to do u can never accumulate percentage unless it is a different sequence.

Even united states that are conducting Republican approval rate has never pass 100%

Let me break it down for you a little bit more.

Say, Huawei used to order for 100 chips from MediaTek every May before now. This May, however, Huawei ordered for 400 chips from MediaTek.

Assuming Huawei ordered for the same 100 chips this May, that would be exactly 100% of what Huawei used to order. 100% of 100 is 100.

However, instead of the 100, Huawei now ordered for 400. Don't you think the new percentage would be more than 100? The new 400 units ordered is a whopping 400% of the 100 units that Huawei used to order.

What else are you missing?

What percentage of 100 is 400? If you can answer this correctly, then you have gotten the point. If you cannot, then you need to go back to your New General Mathematics or whatever Mathematics textbook it is that Secondary School students use these days.

I'm not shading. I'm just saying.

Regards.

your own base on inductive but look at this

(Huawei is reportedly actively looking for an alternative to its Kirin processor. In fact, reports have it that the Chinese company’s order with MediaTek has increased by over 300%.)

Are you actually serious right now? Tell me you're only pulling my legs. undecided

What class are you in?
Phones / Re: Huawei’s Order With Mediatek Increases By Over 300% by beejayvince(m): 10:13pm On May 25, 2020
emmanuel4758:
I thought the percentage end in 100%... Or it seems my mathematics teacher didn't inform me about 300 % percent

You thought wrongly.

Imagine I gave you one orange on Monday. Then, picture these scenarios:

(i) On Tuesday, I gave you half an orange. That's 50% of what I gave you on Monday.

(ii) On Wednesday, I gave you one orange. That's 100% of what I gave you on Monday, i.e., exactly the whole of what I gave you on Monday.

(iii) On Thursday, I gave you four oranges. That's 100% of a whole orange in four places, and that gives us 400%.

So, the four oranges I gave you on Thursday signify a 300% increase over the one I gave you on Monday since it increased by 3 whole oranges.

In essence, 100% is the whole of something. However, there are multiples of percentages too. 100% of 24 eggs is 24 eggs. 300% of 24 eggs is 72 eggs.

Phones / Here’s How To Enable 960fps Slow-motion Mode And Macro Mode On Oneplus 7 Pro by beejayvince(m): 7:36pm On May 25, 2020
OnePlus recently released the OnePlus 8 series but that does not take away the amazing features of the older series. The company recently rolled out a new update for the OnePlus 7T and one of the highlights of the update is the introduction of 960fps slow-motion video recording. It was quite interesting that OnePlus did not even mention this feature in the changelog of the update.

The OnePlus 7T, however, does not feature “true” 960fps mode as seen in the OnePlus 8. The older device uses a software-based frame interpolation technique to increase the number of frames generated by the camera to 960fps.

Since the entire frame interpolation process is done by the OxygenOS camera, one could easily enable it on older OnePlus phones as well as long as they have a similar camera hardware. In fact XDA Senior Member, elmarian756, has implemented the 960fps slow-motion feature on the older OnePlus 7 Pro. With a similar technique, he also unlocked Macro Mode on the phone.

How to enable 960fps Mode on the OnePlus 7 Pro
According to XDA-Developers, elmarian756 was able to enable the new recording mode by modifying two XML preference files (“CameraInfo_0.xml” and “CameraInfo_5.xml”) of the stock camera app. He added a new string called Video960FpsSizes with a value of 1280×720.

After those steps were carried out, the third 960fps option became present on the slow-motion mode, similar to what is obtained on the OnePlus 7T.

How to enable Macro Mode on the OnePlus 7 Pro
Another XDA-Developers Senior Member, Gohan040, carried out the experiment for enabling Macro mode. It is very simple. All you have to do is toggle the value of the IsUWMacroSupported variable inside the CameraInfo_3.xml from “false” to “true”.

Of course, the overall quality of your Macro shots on the OnePlus 7 Pro won’t be comparable to that of the OnePlus 7T Pro. This is because the OnePlus 7 Pro actually lacks the added Macro motor that the 7T Pro possesses.

In order to make use of this feature, you also need to install the latest version of the OnePlus Camera. To ensure full compatibility, it is recommended that you install the latest Open Beta of the app.

Phones / Huawei’s Order With Mediatek Increases By Over 300% by beejayvince(m): 6:29pm On May 25, 2020
When it comes to major smartphone manufacturers who are capable of developing their own processors, Huawei definitely makes the list. The company’s HiSilicon chips reportedly account for 70% – 80% of its smartphone processors. However, it appears that things are changing this year.

Huawei is reportedly actively looking for an alternative to its Kirin processor. In fact, reports have it that the Chinese company’s order with MediaTek has increased by over 300%.

It is not a new development that Huawei partners with third-party chip suppliers sometimes. However, this purchase is usually not large. This year though, Huawei’s third-party order will greatly increase, especially for chips from MediaTek.

Huawei’s orders are huge and MediaTek is evaluating its capacity to meet the Chinese’s company’s needs. Huawei’s orders from the Taiwanese company in the past were usually for low-and mid-end 4G phone chips. However, this year’s orders may be a large number of mid- to high-end 5G chips.

Responding to the rumors of Huawei’s purchase of its 5G chips, MediaTek said that it had a good relationship with many Chinese mobile phone manufacturers. The Taiwanese company, however, did not say that Huawei has made purchases.

Phones / Google Pixel 5 To Sport The Snapdragon 768G Chip Instead Of The Snapdragon 865 by beejayvince(m): 12:36pm On May 25, 2020
While we await the launch of the Google Pixel 5, we have been seeing leaks and rumors about the device. The latest report about the upcoming Pixel 5 is that it will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 768G chipset instead of the flagship Snapdragon 865 chip.

This information was reported by PhoneArena. According to the source, Google is opting for the Snapdragon 768G because of the high cost of using the Snapdragon 865. The price of Snapdragon 865 phones are generally very high. If a manufacturer uses this chip with the Snapdragon X55 5G modem, the cost of the phone increases significantly. This cost is then borne by the customers.

If the Google Pixel 5 indeed uses the Snapdragon 768G chipset, this would be the first time that the Pixel digital series uses Qualcomm’s 7-series chip. Google has been known to use the flagship 8-series processors in its Pixel devices.

This is not to say that the Snapdragon 768G is a bad chip. The chip is built on a 7nm process and uses Kryo 475 CPU Prime cores. Its clock frequency is up to 2.8GHz, an increase from the Snapdragon 765G’s 2.4GHz. The chip uses the Adreno 620 GPU. Its graphics card supports Adreno’s updateable GPU driver. This makes the Snapdragon 768G the first 7-series chip to do so.

In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 768G chip comes with improved Wi-Fi 6 connectivity with 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously. It supports up to Bluetooth 5.2, an improvement over the 765G’s 5.0 version.

The Google Pixel 5 is expected to start at $699. If this is indeed true, then the device probably even stands no chance of sporting the Snapdragon 865, not with that price tag.

Phones / Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 And Redmi Note 7 Pro Get New Updates But No Android 10 Yet by beejayvince(m): 12:01am On May 23, 2020
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 series over a year ago with Android 9.0 Pie and the phones are yet to get an OS upgrade. In fact, it is now looking increasingly unlikely that either phone Redmi Note 7 or Redmi Note 7 Pro will get Android 10 this month.

Xiaomi has just pushed out new Android 9.0 Pie updates to the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. The Global and European versions of the Redmi Note 7 got updates with version V11.0.6.0PFGMIXM and V11.0.8.0.PFGEUXM respectively in the last few days. The Indian version of the Redmi Note 7 Pro has also just gotten the V11.0.9.0.PFHINXM update.

These software updates feature new security patches and minor bug fixes. They could also be the last MIUI 11 updates for both devices as they are set to get MIUI 12 from June. This probably means that Xiaomi intends to bring Android 10 to the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro next month, but that is even nine months after the release of Android 10.

Phones / Samsung To Launch A More Affordable Galaxy Fold In July Ahead Of The Fold 2 by beejayvince(m): 9:59pm On May 19, 2020
Samsung launched the original Galaxy Fold last fall, and now the company is preparing to launch a special edition of the device in July. This information was disclosed by Ross Young, founder of research companies Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch. It comes at a time when many are just waiting for the launch of the Galaxy Fold 2 and will reportedly be the Galaxy Fold Lite.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold Special Edition will look exactly like the original Galaxy Fold. However, it will be cheaper, coming in at just $1099. According to Young, the manufacturer is planning to ship only about 55,000 units of the Galaxy Fold Special Edition.

Meanwhile, according to earlier reports, the Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite 4G will receive 256GB of flash memory, coupled with a single-chip Snapdragon 865 system. The device will reportedly use components that Samsung used in its smartphones in 2018, 2019, and 2020. This is to reduce cost.

When the Galaxy Fold Lite 4G is folded, the user has access to an additional display. However, this secondary display is more like the size of the external screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and less like that of the Galaxy Fold. The device is expected to use the Snapdragon 865 chipset like the Galaxy Fold 2. However, its storage will be slashed to 256GB.

Phones / Mediatek Announces The Dimensity 820 5G Chipset by beejayvince(m): 8:54pm On May 19, 2020
MediaTek announced the Dimensity 800 series back at CES. Now, the company has announced the first chip in the series – the Dimensity 820. This chip is a new chip for value flagships.

The Dimensity 820 chipset boasts competent camera support. It uses MediaTek’s AI Processing Unit 3.0 to provide more powerful photo capture features for concurrent image and photo capture. The chip’s Image Signal Processor, the Imagiq 5.0, supports a quad-camera setup with up to 80MP sensors. It also supports Multiframe 4K video HDR and enhanced gaming.

One can easily say that the highlight of the Dimensity 820 chip is its 5G support. The chip supports global sub-6GHz 5G networks in Asia, North America, and Europe. This may not be as fast as mmWave 5G, but it is still important in pushing us into a 5G future. According to MediaTek, the Dimensity 820 chipset provides “higher average speeds and a seamless handover between two 5G connection areas for the most reliable connectivity on the go.”

With the Dimensity 820 chipset’s impressive specs on paper, will it truly be able to stand against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 or Snapdragon 768 processors? We will definitely find out soon enough.

Phones / Whatsapp For Android Gets Facebook Messenger Rooms Integration In Beta Update by beejayvince(m): 9:48pm On May 17, 2020

This information comes from a report by WABetaInfo. The report disclosed that Facebook has integrated Messenger Rooms into WhatsApp for Android with the 2.20.163 beta update.

What the Messenger Rooms feature does on WhatsApp is that it offers a “Room” option to the share menu inside a chat. This option then directs you to Messenger to create a room. Here, you can have a group video call with up to 50 people. You can also create a Messenger Room from other parts of WhatsApp such as the Calls tab.

At the moment, the Messenger Rooms feature is only available to a limited number of beta users in a few countries. However, we expect it to get to more countries soon.

Phones / Microsoft Surface Duo Leaked With Snapdragon 855, 6GB RAM, And 3,460mah Battery by beejayvince(m): 12:50pm On May 17, 2020
Microsoft announced the Surface Duo along with the Surface Neo last October. These are dual-screen devices from the company, similar to the LG V50 and LG V60. The Surface Neo was announced with the Windows 10X system and the Surface Duo with the Android system.

Some information about the Microsoft Surface Duo have now been revealed by Windows Central. It will launch with two 5.6-inch AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1800×1350. The display will have a pixel density of 401ppi.

The information from Windows Central also revealed that the Surface Duo will also use the Snapdragon 855 chipset, coupled with 5GB of RAM and optional 64GB or 256GB of internal storage.

According to the source, the Surface Duo has a battery capacity of 3,460mAh. It supports fast charging through its USB-C port. There is no wireless charging or NFC connectivity on the current test version of the device.

Windows Central also revealed that the Microsoft Surface Duo will run Android 10 but will be upgraded to Android 11 soon. Not all third-party Android applications support the multi-screen display feature. However, all first-party applications pre-installed by Microsoft will support it.

Microsoft originally planned to launch the Surface Duo in 2018. However, the device got stranded when Microsoft abandoned the Windows Mobile operating system. So the eventual launch of the device now will be recorded as a success for the company.

Phones / 40W Fast Charging Degrades The Smartphone Battery Faster, Oppo Warns by beejayvince(m): 4:14pm On May 16, 2020
Oppo has taken its charging technology to the next level with the launch of a phone with 65W fast charging support. The company launched the Ace2 smartphone back in April. The phone launched with a 90Hz screen, the Snapdragon 865 chip, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. However, one of the most intriguing specs of the Ace2 remains its charging speed.

The phone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with support for 65W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging. This may seem like all you need, but it is not exactly an absolutely perfect solution.

Oppo has confirmed that its 40W fast charging technology has a negative effect on battery life. In fact, the company revealed that 40W fast charging degrades battery life to 70% in the same cycles that 15W charging would degrade it to 90%. This may just be the reason some OEMs like Apple and Google have not been after the big charging speed numbers.

According to some manufacturers, in fact, 15W charging speed is sufficient for most people in any case. Even though fast charging enables smartphones to charge faster, it comes at a cost. Your phone charges faster but the battery life also depreciates faster.

Since many people do not use their phones for more than three years, it may not be so easy to notice the change. However, it is still worth noting that fast charging comes at a cost.

In order to tackle this to an extent, some smartphone manufacturers are slowing charging after about 50%. However, it is still interesting to note that upcoming devices from Oppo and other BBK Electronics brands (which include Vivo, OnePlus, and Realme) will still support 65W fast charging.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy A Quantum Launched With A QRNG Chip To Ensure Data Security by beejayvince(m): 6:18pm On May 15, 2020
The issue of security has been of much concern among smartphone users. Samsung and South Korean operator SK Telecom have now come up with a phone to address this. The Samsung Galaxy A Quantum is the world’s first smartphone with a quantum solution to increase security.

Phones / This sleek Foldable iPhone may smoke the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip if it is launched by beejayvince(m): 7:59am On May 14, 2020
We are currently waiting for Apple to unveil the iPhone 12 series. This should happen in September if all things go well. However, there are rumors that the launch of the iPhone 12 may be delayed by a month. While we wait, we have seen various leaks and rumors of the specs of the series.

The iPhone 12 series is where Apple is introducing 5G connectivity. The series will also use Apple’s new A14 Bionic chip. It will feature a new 3D camera system and will be available in four models.

But what if the iPhone 12 were to also feature one more thing – being foldable. There are many foldable Android devices out there but nothing from iPhone yet. We have now seen an iPhone Flip concept video that shows just what a foldable iPhone 12 could look like.

The video is courtesy of #iOS beta news, and it shows a foldable phone that looks like a cross between the iPhone 12 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. It folds to become smaller, rather than having a vertical hinge to unfold into a tab. When folded out, it is just a normal handset with thin and narrow bezels.

The foldable iPhone concept render takes away the traditional iPhone notch and replaces it with a center-mounted punch-hole. This is similar to what we see in the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy S20. Around the back, we see the tipped iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max camera arrangement.

Asides from the primary screen, the foldable iPhone has a secondary screen that can display notifications when the phone is folded. This secondary display is much bigger than what the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip offers. It also displays the iOS 13 Today view, letting you scroll through your chosen widgets without opening the phone.

While we wait for the iPhone Flip or any foldable iPhone, we still have the iPhone 12 to look forward to. Let us see how that performs in the market first.

Phones / TECNO Spark 5 Launched With 5 Cameras And 6 LED Flashes; It Costs Just N49,000 by beejayvince(m): 7:14am On May 14, 2020
TECNO has just launched the TECNO Spark 5 smartphone, and the phone does come with some interesting specs. The highlight of the Spark 5 is probably the fact that it comes with five cameras and six LED flashes.

The TECNO Spark 5 sports a 6.6-inch punch-hole display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The phone sports a quad-camera setup on the rear which comprises a 13MP main shooter, a 2MP macro lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a fourth camera to round it up. The official specs did not reveal what exactly the function of the fourth camera will be. According to some reports, maybe it is just there to boost the camera count. This camera setup is coupled with a quad-LED flash setup, which is definitely rare.

Sitting in the punch-hole on the front is an 8MP selfie camera. This is coupled with a dual-LED flash, which is also quite rare. Having one LED flash at all on the front is even rare, let alone having two.

On the software side of things, the TECNO Spark 5 runs Android 10 with HiOS 6.1 on top. It is powered by an octa-core CPU (chipset unknown right now). The phone comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. For biometric security, the Spark 5 comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also features Face Unlock on the front. The phone also maintains the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The TECNO Spark 5 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. The charging speed was not specified, so it may just be the standard 10W charging. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 4G with VoLTE.

TECNO Spark 5 Price and Availability
In Nigeria, the TECNO Spark 5 reportedly has a price tag of NGN47,000 (about $120) and 49,000NGN ($125) for the KD6-Spark 5 Air and the KD7H-Spark 5 respectively.

The device comes in four color variants – Misty Grey, Vacation Blue, Ice Jadeite, and Spark Orange. All these color options have a wavy grooved pattern and a bit of a starburst gradient on the back.

Phones / Iqoo Z1 Is The World’s First Dimensity 1000+ Smartphone And Will Cost Just $350 by beejayvince(m): 9:39pm On May 13, 2020
MediaTek unveiled the much-anticipated Dimensity 1000+ chipset last week. It was said that Vivo’s iQOO would be the first brand to use the 5G chip. It has now been confirmed that this device will be revealed on May 19.

A promo poster has leaked, confirming at least one memory configuration of the device. It will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The poster also revealed the price of the device, which is dubbed the iQOO Z1.

According to the leak, the iQOO Z1 with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage will come with a price tag of CNY2,498 (roughly $350). Considering the performance of the Dimensity 1000+ chip on paper, this seems like value for money. However, we have not seen how the chip actually performs in real life.

Asides from using the MediaTek 1000+ chip, there are other details that have been leaked about the iQOO Z1. For example, it will launch with an LCD display that has a 144Hz refresh rate. Of course, the device will also support 5G networks. A couple of leaked images have revealed that the device will sport a punch-hole on the top-left corner of the display.

Phones / Nokia 9.3 Pureview To Support 8K Video Recording And Exclusive ZEISS Features by beejayvince(m): 8:38am On May 13, 2020
Nokia has been gearing up to unveil the successor to the Nokia 9 PureView. At first, there were reports that it would be the Nokia 9.1 with the Snapdragon 855 processor. Then later, it was said to be the Nokia 9.2 as HMD Global was shelving the Nokia 9.1 for the 9.2 with Snapdragon 865 instead. Eventually, what we are waiting for now is the Nokia 9.3 and there have been leaks and rumors about the device in the past few months.

A new report has now revealed more interesting details about the Nokia 9.3. Rumors have it that the device will sport a 108MP camera. The new report has now revealed that this camera will be capable of recording 8K@30fps videos.

Of course, for this video recording capability to work out, there are other things that must be put in place. We know that part of the 8K@30fps video recording support is given by the use of the Snapdragon 865 chipst, at least. We do not expect Nokia to make the same mistake of releasing a flagship phone with outdated specifications.

Asides from the video recording capability, the Nokia 9.3 PureView is also bringing other interesting features. It will come with advanced Pro and Night modes for photography. It will also feature a wide array of manual controls and advanced image processing algorithms. In Night mode, you get advanced pixel binning and OIS.

According to the report, the Nokia 9.3 PureView will also feature exclusive “ZEISS effects”. Of course, other companies will also partner with ZEISS so it is not exclusive to Nokia 9.3. However, Nokia wants to make sure that there are at least, some features that are exclusive to the upcoming flagship phone.

There is no official word yet from Nokia about the Nokia 9.3 PureView. However, if all the rumors and reports are anything to go by, then the phone is preparing to indeed be a true flagship device.

Phones / Redmi 9 Gets Listed On FCC; It Will Pack A 5,000mah Battery by beejayvince(m): 7:05am On May 13, 2020
The Redmi 9 has been in the rumor mill for a while. Now, it appears that the launch of the device is close as it just appeared on FCC. The FCC listing reveals some interesting details of the device and confirmed some details already rumored.

The listing shows the Redmi 9 with model number M2004J19G. The highlight of the listing can be said to be the phone’s battery capacity. Just like its predecessor, the Redmi 9 will pack a 5,000mAh battery.

Even though we now know the battery capacity of the Redmi 9, the FCC listing did not give information about its charging capacity. However, there have been rumors that the device will come with 10W charging. If that is truly the case, it would be a major downgrade from the 18W offered by the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A.

Now, that rumor raises speculations that Redmi may be making a move back to using micro-USB ports. The 10W charging speed is usually associated with this old standard. We just hope that is not the case.

The Redmi 9 is also expected to come with a bigger screen than its predecessor. However, it may come with the same HD+ resolution to keep the price low. The device will only support up to LTE networks.

We expect the Redmi 9 to launch alongside the Redmi 10X in China soon. There will most likely be more confirmed information about the device available before then.

Phones / Mediatek To Launch A Product To Take On The SD875 At The Appropriate Time by beejayvince(m): 10:52pm On May 12, 2020
MediaTek launched the Dimensity 1000 chipset only a few days ago. Meanwhile, the company apparently already has plans for a new product.

After the launch of the Dimensity 1000 chipset, three of MediaTek’s top Executives granted an interview to media outfits including IT Home, a Chinese tech website. These Executives include Li Yanji, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek Wireless Communication Division; Li Junnan, Technical Planning Director of MediaTek Wireless Communication Division; and Nian Yucun, Product Marketing Department Manager of MediaTek Wireless Communication Division.

According to IT Home’s report, MediaTek answered questions about the plans of MediaTek to take on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 875 chipset. Li Yanji responded that MediaTek would have products coming out at the appropriate time and that the company would not be absent from the flagship front.

Yanji also answered a question about the impact of Qualcomm’s latest move to cut prices for its mid-range 5G chipsets for mobile phones. According to him, market and price competition will always exist. He said that MediaTek would respond by launching 5G chips that have better performance and power consumption than the competitors.

It is worthy of note that MediaTek has not really been at the forefront of flagship chips in a long while. The Taiwanese company just came back to the scene with the latest Dimensity series. On paper, this series has proven to be a powerful series. Of course, the Helio G series is quite impressive in the mid-range 5G series too.

It is now left to be seen if MediaTek will indeed successfully take on Qualcomm in the flagship segment.
