Phones / Xiaomi POCO F2 Lite Design And Details Revealed In Live Images by beejayvince(m): 11:57am On Jan 23, 2020
After the launch and success of the POCO F1, many people have been anticipating the POCO F2. In fact, Xiaomi has filed a patent application for the POCO F2. While we await the POCO F2, it appears that it will not be the only device in the lineup.

We now have leaked details about a POCO F2 Lite, a device with premium mid-range features. This comes just after the information that POCO is now a brand of its own, independent of Xiaomi.

The leaked details give images of the POCO F2 Lite as well as some of its specifications. However, we only get a view of the front of the device.

The image shows a device with a flat screen and a waterdrop notch. The display has slightly-reduced bezels. It kind of looks like the front of the Redmi Note 8.

The name “POCO F2 Lite” appears in one of the photographs. This strongly suggests a Lite version of the POCO F1 successor. We also see “MIUI Version (For POCO)” on the “About phone” page. This makes the leak appear even more valid.

Xiaomi POCO F2 Lite leaked specs

According to the leak, the Xiaomi POCO F2 Lite will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset. It will run Android 10 out of the box. On the camera front, the device will sport a camera up to 48MP. It will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery.

The POCO F2 Lite is expected to cost less than the POCO F1 cost in its day. With this, it will likely be a competition to devices from Samsung, Realme, and other brands.

All of these specs are from a single anonymous leak. We can only wait until the company officially announces the details of the device.

Phones / Xiaomi Mi 10’s 108MP Camera To Compete With The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Camera by beejayvince(m): 7:52am On Jan 23, 2020
When it comes to purchasing smartphones these days, camera specification is something many people look out for. Even manufacturers are aware of this and they keep churning out smartphones with decent to amazing specs. In fact, we already have the 108MP shooter for a smartphone.

Last year, Samsung and Xiaomi developed and presented the 108MP sensor. In the same year, we saw it in use in the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. Samsung has, however, further developed the sensor for the upcoming Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Now, Xiaomi apparently also wants to use the sensor again. The Chinese company has finished developing the Xiaomi Mi 10. We have already seen leaks of some of its specs. The device will sport the Snapdragon 865 chipset. It will also come with a high refresh rate and a massive battery capacity.

If recent reports are anything to go by, then the Xiaomi Mi 10 camera will be very close to that of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Both devices will use a 108MP sensor.

Phones / Here’s Why Apple Wants To Launch The Iphone 9 As Soon As Possible by beejayvince(m): 8:52pm On Jan 22, 2020
Over the past few months, there have been reports that Apple was working on a new affordable iPhone. For a while, the reports had it that the device would be the iPhone SE 2. However, recent reports suggest that it could actually be the iPhone 9 and it could launch early this year. In fact, it appears that Apple wants to launch the device as soon as possible, very likely within the first quarter of 2020.

We now have more details about the upcoming iPhone 9. Reports of a potential iPhone 9 started coming up in December 2019. Now, the current testing of the product has ended. This means that Apple is planning to launch the device very soon.

With the rush, it appears that Apple is targeting emerging markets such as India. This makes sense as Apple is already losing its hold on the market that is now highly-dominated by Chinese brands. So, Apple probably wants to retain its hold with the launch of an affordable iPhone 9.

Also, according to reports, the iPhone 9 is basically the same as the previously-rumored iPhone SE 2. If this is the case, then it means that it will likely come with the earlier-rumored specs.

So, the iPhone 9 may come with a 4.7-inch display with Touch ID fingerprint authentication. It will be available in two internal storage variants – 64GB and 128GB. The device will use the A13 Bionic chip. This means that it will likely support iOS updates for the next few years.

The 64GB variant of the iPhone 9 will come with a price tag of $399 while the 128GB variant will go for $449 or $499.

Phones / ZTE & MTN Bringing 5G To Uganda; Third In Africa Following S/africa And Nigeria by beejayvince(m): 9:13am On Jan 21, 2020
Uganda is one of the first African countries working on rolling out 5G technology. Chinese telecommunications equipment giant, ZTE partnered with local carrier MTN to carry out the first 5G network trial in the country. This would be one of the first, if not the first, in East Africa.

ZTE and MTN carried out the test on Friday. Ruhakan Rugunda, the Prime Minister of Uganda, was in attendance at the event. He said that the government was in support of 5G technology. He expressed optimism that the deployment of 5G technology in Uganda will positively affect the country’s economy.

This makes Uganda the third country in Africa to have 5G, coming behind South Africa and Nigeria. The head of the country’s Communications Commission stated that the carrier was working on the development of an appropriate 5G infrastructure.

According to Wim Vanhelleputte, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Uganda, 5G technology will increase speeds and capacity. The performance would be comparable to fiber optic cable, but with a seamless wireless experience.

Phones / Iqoo To Debut As An Independent Brand In India In March by beejayvince(m): 8:04am On Jan 21, 2020
Chinese smartphone makers seem to have a new interest in launching subsidiary brands. For example, Oppo has the Realme sub-brand, and Vivo has the iQOO sub-brand. Some of these sub-brands have now become some of the fastest-growing brands in the world.

Already, Realme is almost an independent company sharing some resources with Oppo. Now, Vivo is reportedly ready to launch its iQOO sub-brand as an independent brand in India.

Vivo’s iQOO is basically a gaming-centric sub-brand that has achieved so much success in China. Talking about gaming smartphones, the iQOO sub-brand is a valid mention. The company is now ready to move iQOO into the Indian market.

iQOO phones focus on high-end specs and affordable pricing. Already, we have seen six devices under the brand, the latest of which is the iQOO Neo 855 Racing. The Vivo iQOO 3 and 3 Neo may launch in the near future.

We will probably see the iQOO sub-brand at the MWC 2020 in February. However, it will likely face challenges from Oppo’s Realme and Xiaomi’s Redmi and POCO.

Phones / Huawei To Use Tomtom Maps As An Alternative To Google Maps by beejayvince(m): 7:13am On Jan 20, 2020
Huawei will now use TomTom Maps as an alternative to Google Maps on its smartphones. This comes in the wake of the ban placed on the company by the United States. The ban makes the Chinese giant unable to do business with American companies, including Google.

Already, we are expecting the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro to launch in March without Google Mobile Services. So, apparently, the devices will use TomTom Maps instead of Google Maps.

The ban did not stop Huawei from selling an exorbitant number of smartphones in 2019. In fact, the company sold over 240 million units last year. That is 34 million units more than 2018’s 206 million units. A recent report has it that Huawei has sold up to 12 million units of the Mate 30 worldwide, even though the device lacks Google Mobile Services and Google applications. Much of this success can be attributed to the Chinese market.

However, going forward, solutions are clearly needed for the future. Asides from developing its own operating system to replace Android, Huawei also has to find suitable replacements for Google apps. One of these is Google Maps, and Huawei has chosen to use TomTom Maps now.

Huawei’s choice of TomTom is actually excellent. The company is well-known for satellite navigation, being a pioneer of mapping before the era of smartphones.

We can only wait to see if TomTom Maps will be a worthy replacement for Google Maps in upcoming Huawei phones.

Phones / Apple To Launch 5G Ipad With The Iphone 12 Series In The Second Half Of 2020 by beejayvince(m): 2:07am On Jan 19, 2020
When it comes to 5G development, we could say that Apple is months behind. However, according to analysts, the tech giant will catch up with the many 5G Android devices.

Reports have it that Apple will release 5G iPhones this year. Not only that, but the company will also release the 5G iPad. This 5G iPad will arrive alongside Apple’s 2020 iPhones (the iPhone 12 series) in the second half of the year.

Apple now reportedly has a new component supplier for the 5G iPad. Also now a part of the supply chain is ASE Semiconductor, a Taiwanese component company. According to reports from an insider, ASE will use Flip Chip Antenna Package technology in Apple’s mmWave 5G iPhone and 5G iPad.

Also, according to the report, while Apple will launch its 5G iPad later this year, the company will update the iPad Pro in the first half of the year.

Phones / Google Pixel 4 With Android R (android 11) Spotted On Geekbench by beejayvince(m): 1:38am On Jan 19, 2020
Google launched Android 10 barely four months ago in September 2019. Now, we are already hearing about Android 11. Google Pixel 4 recently surfaced on popular benchmark platform, Geekbench. The Geekbench listing showed the device running the yet-to-be-released Android 11 Operating System.

The listing shows that the device scored 712 in the single-core test and 2,181 in the multi-core test. We also see that it features 6GB of RAM, specs that check out for the Google Pixel 4.

The spotted Google Pixel 4 runs Android R developer preview. This is in line, considering that Google usually releases four to six beta versions of Android before making it public.

Google already scrapped the dessert naming scheme for Android versions. However, apparently, the search engine giant is keeping the alphabetical naming scheme for the developer preview. That would explain why we have “Android R” listed and not “Android 11”.

We do not yet have all the information regarding the upcoming Android 11. However, we believe that Google may officially announce the Android R developer preview program in a matter of weeks. We will definitely get more information about it before it eventually goes official later this year.

We expect Google Pixel devices to be the first to receive the beta updates. So, it is not surprising to see a Pixel phone spotting it on Geekbench before any other phone.

Phones / Xiaomi Files New Patent For Foldable Phone With Moto Razr-like Clamshell Design by beejayvince(m): 1:17am On Jan 19, 2020
In this era of foldable smartphones, Xiaomi has been teasing its own foldable phone but we are yet to see it. However, we have now seen a patent from Xiaomi for a foldable phone with a clamshell design.

According to the report, Xiaomi has filed for a new patent at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The listing suggests that the patent was originally filed in July 2018. However, the organization has just published it.

The patent reveals some features of the phone’s design. The phone will feature a clamshell design with magnets around the edges to keep it folded and prevent accidental opening.

Easy to spot is the absence of a notch or cutout to house the selfie camera. The patent, however, did not exactly reveal any hardware specifications of the device.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi has just filed a patent application for POCO F2. We may also get the POCO X2 with 8GB of RAM and Android 10 very soon.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy A71 5G May Be Coming To The United States by beejayvince(m): 10:26pm On Jan 18, 2020
Samsung launched the Galaxy A71 in December 2019. Now, it appears that the Korean tech giant is gearing towards the launch of a 5G variant of the phone. In fact, there were earlier reports that the Galaxy A71 5G would use the Exynos 980 chipset and have 128GB storage.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is possibly coming to the United States, according to reports. SamMobile has reported that Samsung is working on releasing two variants of the Galaxy A71. The carrier version goes by the model number SM-A716U while the unlocked version bears SM-A716U1.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G would be Samsung’s second 5G phone in the Galaxy A-series, following the Galaxy A90 5G. It will also reportedly be the first smartphone from the company to sport the Exynos 980 SoC, the same chip found in the Vivo X30 series. This chip is based on an 8nm process and uses two Cortex A77 cores plus six Cortex A55 cores.

There is no word yet on when the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G will be released. However, we know that it will be interesting to see a 5G phone in Samsung’s mid-range segment.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 (AKA Galaxy Z Flip) Passes 3C Certification by beejayvince(m): 3:17pm On Jan 17, 2020
This is a new era of foldable phones, and Samsung is currently one of the leaders. The original Samsung Galaxy Fold recorded so much success that it sold out within five minutes in a flash sale in China. The Galaxy Fold 2 may be on the way to enjoy as much success.

There have been leaks and rumors about this upcoming foldable phone, and we are excited. The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will reportedly launch with the Snapdragon 855 SoC. We have also seen the device in leaked images.

A new Samsung phone with model number SM-F7000 has now passed 3C certification. This is the same as the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. The device is also known as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. It will come with a folding design that is quite different from the original Galaxy Fold’s. This time, we will see a design more like that of the Motorola razr.

According to the 3C document of the device, it will come with a 15W charger in the box. This likely means that the next-gen Samsung foldable smartphone will not support ultra-fast wired charging. In comparison, all Galaxy S20 models are expected to come with 25W charging capabilities.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to launch on February 11, alongside the Galaxy S20 series. We expect the Fold 2 to have a price tag of less than $1,000. Some other foldable phones from other brands include the Huawei Mate X and the Motorola razr.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 8 in 2017 and the Galaxy S9 a few months later in 2018. Both flagship devices have gotten a number of updates since launch.

Now, Samsung has released the January security update for both devices. However, in case you are wondering, the update is not based on Android 10. It is a standard security update for regular users who are not participating in the One UI 2.0 beta program.

At the moment, the Galaxy Note 8 update is available in Germany, at least the Exynos-powered model. It has a software version N950FXXS8DSL3. The Galaxy S9 update is available in France for users of carrier Bouygues. It has a software version G96*FXXS7CTA1.

To download the update on your phone, simply go to Software Update and click on Download and install.

Phones / Xiaomi Poco X2 With 8gb Ram And Android 10 May Launch Soon by beejayvince(m): 1:19pm On Jan 17, 2020
The Xiaomi POCO F1 was a huge success when it launched. However, since its launch over one year ago, we are yet to see its successor. According to reports, Xiaomi recently filed a patent for the POCO F2, so we may get the F1’s successor soon.

Now, even as we look forward to the POCO F2, Xiaomi appears to be cooking up something different. A new phone has just appeared on GeekBench 5 listing with the name “Xiaomi POCO X2”. This is quite different from the anticipated POCO F2.

According to the listing, the Xiaomi POCO X2 has 8GB of RAM and a 1.8GHz processor. The device runs on Android 10. It scored 547 points in the single-core test and 1,767 points in the multi-core test.

Even though this is the first time we are hearing of the POCO X2, it has specs similar to those of the Xiaomi Redmi K30. The Redmi K30 has a score of 542 in the single-core test and a score of 1,686 in the multi-core test. These are not very far from the Xiaomi POCO X2’s scores. The devices’ codenames on GeekBench 5 are also similar. While the Redmi K30 uses “phoenix”, the POCO X2 uses “phoenixin”. With the similar scores and processor, the Xiaomi POCO X2 will likely use the Snapdragon 730G chipset.

So, could the Redmi K30 and the POCO X2 be the same phone? It’s only a matter of time before we find out.

Phones / Oneplus 8 Gets Certified By India’s BIS As Launch Nears by beejayvince(m): 12:08pm On Jan 17, 2020
The launch of the OnePlus 8 is just around the corner. As we wait, there have been leaks and rumors about the device. Already, we know that the device will come with 120Hz display. It has also been getting certifications. Now, the device, OnePlus‘s upcoming flagship, has appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification portal. This means that the phone may be nearing its launch in India.

OnePlus will likely launch the OnePlus 8 in the first half of 2020. Before spotting it on the BIS certification portal, we earlier spotted it on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)’s database with model number IN2010. The listing showed some of the phone’s frequency bands.

On the BIS database, the device has a model number IN2011, quite different from what’s on MIIT’s database. The BIS listing, however, does not really say anything about the device’s specs. But we already have some leaks of the device.

From early leaks of the OnePlus 8 series, we see devices sporting punch-hole displays. The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to sport a QHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. The display brightness will be capable of going up to 1,000 nits.

We expect OnePlus to launch the OnePlus 8 series in Q2 2020. This time, for the first time since the OnePlus X, we will be getting a budget Lite version of the OnePlus 8.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5g Gets Geekbench Listing; To Have 12gb Ram by beejayvince(m): 7:59am On Jan 16, 2020
The Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup is coming on February 11. As expected, there have been various leaks and rumors about the devices. At the time of the early leaks, it appeared that the series would be called the Galaxy S11 series. Now, it is confirmed that it will be the Galaxy S20 series instead.

One of the phones in the series, the Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G, has just passed through GeekBench. So, we now have more details of its specs.

The Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G appeared on the benchmark database with model number SM-G986U. Corroborating earlier rumors of the Galaxy S20 lineup, the device has 12GB of RAM. It comes with Android 10 which we expect to use One UI 2.0.

The Samsung Galaxy S20+ scored 923 in GeekBench 5’s single-core test and 3,267 in the multi-core test. However, this is just a pre-production unit, so these numbers may not necessarily reflect the true values.

The device’s motherboard “kona” suggests that the Galaxy S20+ 5G will likely feature the Snapdragon 865 SoC. Earlier rumors already pointed to the S20 lineup using this chipset and the Exynos 990 chipset. This time, it appears that more regions will get the Snapdragon processor.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G will come in two RAM variants of 12GB and 16GB. It will have three internal storage options – 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The device will also get a microSD slot that supports up to 1TB storage expansion. It will pack a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast-charging. This fast-charging can take the phone from zero to 100% in 74 minutes.

As we await the launch of the Galaxy S20 series, we now also have details of the devices’ camera specifications. The S20 Ultra will boast a 108MP camera. The launch is just around the corner, and we are excited about it.

Phones / Oneplus 8 Pro Appears On Geekbench; To Be Powered By The Snapdragon 865 Chipset by beejayvince(m): 8:55am On Jan 14, 2020
Leaks of the OnePlus 8 have been online for quite some time. In fact, while OnePlus was still stocking inventory for sales of last year’s OnePlus 7T Pro, we already saw the first CAD render of the OnePlus 8 series.

Now, the OnePlus 8 Pro has appeared on GeekBench. The benchmark listing is typical of basically any other phone before launch. We have now seen some features of the OnePlus 8 Pro from its GeekBench listing.

The listing shows that the OnePlus 8 Pro will have the model number GALILEI IN2023. As expected, the device will run Android 10 out of the box. It will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processor, the Snapdragon 865 chipset, clocked at 1.8GHz.

The OnePlus 8 Pro scored 4296 in the single-core test and 12531 in the multi-core test. This is quite impressive, especially when compared with the scores of the OnePlus 7T series.

The tested variant of the OnePlus 8 Pro features 12GB of RAM. However, we may eventually get to see a variant with, say, 8GB of RAM. Already, we know that the device may come with a 120Hz display.

OnePlus was known to launch just two phones in a year but that changed last year. The company launched Pro versions of their regular OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T phones. That made a total of four. This year, we may even get more phones as recent leaks suggest that OnePlus may be working on a ‘Lite’ variant of the OnePlus 8.

Phones / Xiaomi Files Patent Application For POCO F2 by beejayvince(m): 1:27am On Jan 12, 2020
Xiaomi launched the Pocophone F1 in 2018. The phone achieved a lot of success upon launch, receiving wide acclaim. Since then, lovers of the brand have been expecting a follow-up.

Last month, Alvin Tse, Xiaomi’s global head, teased that the POCO F2 would launch in 2020. However, rumors about the phone have been vague so far. Now, thanks to a leaked trademark application, we have now confirmed that we are indeed getting a successor to the successful POCO F1.

The documents show that Xiaomi has filed a trademark for a phone called the POCO F2. This simply confirms that the POCO F1 is getting a follow-up. Considering that a trademark was presented right before the launch of the POCO F1, this may mean that the launch of the Poco F2 is just around the corner.

If the release of the POCO F1 is anything to go by, then the phone will likely be called POCO F2 in India and Pocophone F2 everywhere else.

Phones / Xiaomi Black Shark 3 5G Specs Leak; Could Be The First Smartphone With 16GB RAM by beejayvince(m): 1:03am On Jan 12, 2020
When talking about gaming phones, Xiaomi’s Black Shark series definitely comes to mind. Older Black Sharks have achieved success upon launch into the market. Following the success of the original Black Shark and the Black Shark 2 and Black Shark 2 Pro, the company is set to launch the latest addition to the lineup.

The follow-up will be called Black Shark 3 5G. So, obviously, it will have 5G support. The device has already gotten MIIT certification, so that is confirmed.

While having 5G connectivity is something to be proud of, the Xiaomi Black Shark 3 5G has something even more amazing to offer. Rumors have it that it will come with 16GB of RAM, the first smartphone to do so. This may seem unnecessary to many people but many others will actually appreciate it.

We do not yet know when the Black Shark 3 5G will launch. Some other OEM is probably working on a phone with 16GB RAM. We can only wait to see if the Black Shark 3 5G comes first.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Gets Updated 3D Scanning by beejayvince(m): 9:16pm On Jan 10, 2020
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is currently one of Samsung’s most powerful smartphones. So much has been said about the device’s triple-camera setup. However, its Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera has been so much overlooked by many.

The ToF module allows you to scan an object from multiple angles in order to generate a 360-degree model of it. It does this by using 3D scanning and depth mapping.

Samsung’s ToF camera has been put to test and the resulting 3D scans were not exactly perfect. In fact, they came with quite a number of errors. Using the cool feature to capture people was especially difficult.

However, Samsung has brought an update that aims to improve user experience. The new update comes with a dedicated “person mode”. This means that you will now get mode options, choosing between “person” and “thing”. This is expected to generally improve the resulting 3D scans.

Interested in trying out the updated 3D scanning feature? Simply update your app through the Galaxy Store.

Phones / Apple Set To Sell Its Two-billionth Iphone This Year by beejayvince(m): 8:35pm On Jan 10, 2020
Since the introduction of the first iPhone 13 years ago, it has grown to become Apple’s most important product. In fact, the vast majority of Apple’s revenue comes from iPhones. Apple’s iPhone line is now close to a new milestone – its two-billionth sale.

According to various market analysts, Apple is close to making its two-billionth sale. The analysts also believe that it can happen this year. There was a forecast of 186 million sales during the 2020 fiscal year. However, it appears that the Cupertino-based company is on track to sell up to 195 million units. This is mainly thanks to the good holiday sales.

Over the past few years, iPhone sales have generally declined. This is partly due to the rise of brands with much cheaper phones, especially in China. Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo are some of such brands. There is also still the competition from Samsung. However, iPhones still remain responsible for the majority of Apple’s revenue.

With Apple bringing the cheaper iPhone 9 soon and with the company also introducing its first 5G phones in 2020, we may see iPhone sales growing fast again. In fact, sales may even hit the two-billion-dollar mark faster than expected.

Phones / Samsung Privately Showcases A Smartphone With Rollable Screen by beejayvince(m): 8:46pm On Jan 09, 2020
Samsung successfully launched the Galaxy Fold foldable phone and we are waiting for the Galaxy Fold 2. The Galaxy Fold 2 will launch with Snapdragon 855 SoC and a 10MP front camera. Even while we wait, Samsung has unveiled a new device that sports a rollable display.

Samsung unveiled the smartphone with the rollable screen at the CES in Las Vegas. There have been rumors that LG was working on a rollable smartphone, but we are yet to see it.

Now, Samsung’s is apparently almost ready. Sometime last year, Visionox unveiled a rollable AMOLED display and a foldable clamshell phone. This means that rollable smartphones may soon be the trending design.

Not many people had the chance to see Samsung’s actual phone. However, we know that its display was covered with plastic, the same material used for the original Galaxy Fold. Asides from that, there are not many details available.

Phones / Leaked LG G9 Case Renders Show The Phone’s Design With A Quad-camera Setup by beejayvince(m): 8:23pm On Jan 09, 2020
Yesterday, we posted about the LG V60 ThinQ back panel leak. Now, a leak of renders of an LG G9 transparent case has surfaced. The leaked renders match earlier OnLeaks renders.

However, the leaked renders of the LG G9 shows a very similar design to the LG V60 back panel that we saw. So, are these renders for the LG G9 or for the LG V60 ThinQ? There is a high chance that both devices will have the same design. This would not be surprising, considering the design similarities between the LG G8 and LG V50 as well as the LG G8X and the LG V50S.

Either way, there are a few confirmations that the leaked renders offer. We can see that there will be no fingerprint reader on the back. This suggests an in-display fingerprint reader.

Also, just like we saw in the leaked LG V60 ThinQ back panel, this leaked LG G9 case also suggests a quad-camera setup. The cameras will be arranged horizontally on the back of the device.

On the bottom, there is a USB-C port, a loudspeaker grille, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Whichever phone the back panel and the case represent, we will find out soon. Both the LG G9 and the LG V60 ThinQ will be unveiled at the MWC 2020 coming up in February.

The V1950A has now passed China’s TENAA certification as well. So, now, we have even more details about the device.

Phones / LG V60 Thinq Back Panel Leaks, Hinting At A Device With A Quad-camera Setup by beejayvince(m): 8:44pm On Jan 08, 2020
The launch of the LG V60 ThinQ is just around the corner. In fact, we expect the device to be unveiled at the MWC 2020 in February. As expected, there have been leaks concerning the specifications of the device.

We have now seen leaks of the back panel of the LG V60 ThinQ. Photos show the panel in two different colors. Something of interest on the panel is the camera slot. The photos show a slot that appears to be wider than what is obtained on the LG V50. The LG V50 has a triple-camera setup on the rear. So, this wider slot could mean the addition of a fourth camera on the LG V60 ThinQ.

Not much is known about the LG V60 ThinQ at the moment. However, as with other flagship devices, we expect it to launch with the Snapdragon 865 chipset.

Meanwhile, earlier renders of the LG G9 show that the device may also come with a quad-camera setup. This may just be LG’s new plan for its 2020 flagships.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 To Launch With Snapdragon 855 Soc And A 10MP Front Camera by beejayvince(m): 8:08pm On Jan 08, 2020
While the excitement is high regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is also getting its share of the excitement. In fact, we recently saw the device in live images. We know that the device will feature a vertically-folding clamshell design.

New information from a reliable leakster on Twitter suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will sport the Snapdragon 855 chipset. This will be a letdown to many who expected it to launch with the new Snapdragon 865 chipset.

It is not clear why Samsung would go for the older chip over the latest Snapdragon 865. However, we believe that it could simply be that Samsung already started serious work on the Galaxy Fold 2 even before the launch of the Snapdragon 865 chipset.

Also in the tweet, the leakster @ishanagarwal24 stated that the upcoming device with model number SM-F700F will sport a 10MP front camera. It may just be the same module that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ use.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 may launch alongside the Galaxy S20 on February 11, not on February 18 as earlier speculated. The Fold 2 may launch with a price tag under $1,000. If it indeed does, then it will likely sell out very fast. The first-gen Galaxy Fold sold out in five minutes in China sometime last year.

It is only a matter of time before we get official confirmation of all these specs.

Phones / Apple A14 Chip Will Use Tsmc’s 5nm Process; To Be Mass-produced In Q2 2020 by beejayvince(m): 8:17am On Jan 04, 2020
Apple is set to use a chipset that is based on a 5nm process. According to recent reports, TSMC will once again be Apple’s custom iPhone SoC design exclusive supplier for this.

The reports suggest that the new SoC – the Apple A14 chip – will go into mass production in the second quarter of 2020. It will also be the first chip to use TSMC’s 5nm process.

Before now, chips based on a 7nm process have been the order of the day. One of these is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865 chipset.

The number of transistors in the SoC is 1.8 times what we see in the 7nm process, as seen in the trial production results. Even though the yield remains at 80% – 90%, there is a 15% increase in operation speed.

According to a piece of earlier internal news by TSMC, the new 5nm process will use Extreme Ultra-Violet (EUV) lithography technology. The process considers efficiency and cost.

Not only Apple’s attention has been attracted to TSMC’s 5nm process. We also see other first-tier manufacturers such as Qualcomm and Huawei in this.

We expect Apple’s new iPhone to launch this fall with the new Apple A14 chip.

Phones / Nokia 9.2 Launch Allegedly Delayed To Switch To The Snapdragon 865 Soc by beejayvince(m): 11:52am On Jan 03, 2020
HMD unveiled the Nokia 9 PureView in early 2019. It came as a shock to many that the device launched with a 2018 Snapdragon chipset.

Now, according to a leakster, HMD wants to avoid a repetition of such. However, what this means, unfortunately, is that the company has pushed back the announcement of the Nokia 9.2 to the autumn season.

The Nokia 9.1 was supposed to be unveiled in Q4 last year or even earlier. Unfortunately, that launch has been delayed again, according to various rumors. That is probably why we are having the Nokia 9.2 now – to keep the name of the new flagship in line with the rest of the Nokia lineup.

According to the rumors, the device was supposed to feature the Snapdragon 855 chipset. There was to be a 5G version using the Snapdragon 855+chipset. However, it appears now that there will be just one phone – the Nokia 9.2. It will have 5G connectivity and feature the Snapdragon 865 chipset.
