I have travelled to UK before on a business visa April 2011 for conference still valid till Sept 2011 and spent 4 days, all expense paid by me
I will like to make a new visa application for me and my wife and below are my question.

Now I wanted to apply as a tourist but someone advice that it is easier to use friend invite, is there any advantage?

Last time (march 2011) during my business visa application I indicated that I don't know any one in the UK, will there be any issue now if am
using friend invite now?

I will be sponsoring my wife(she is a degree holder but currently a full time housewife just taking care of the kids for now) is there any need to
add her degree result in the application?
Is it okay to add details of the car I bought in her name to the application?

I have a steady job with a multinational company and earn 126k. i have money of my own worth 1.6k. 900k in my fixed deposit account and the rest in ma salary account but i moved 500k into my salary account on the 1st of june which was money from my housing allowance. i intend to apply in Aug . My fixed deposit account is more stable as i transfer money into it every month from my salary account. Also i intend to use ma mum as a sponsor as i did in my previous application. i can show my payslip for more than a year that shows how i am taxed heavily every month. I pay 17-24k in tax every month. My pay slip shows the break down of my salary and how i am taxed.

Also the person sponsoring is my fiance but i want to keep it as friend till we tie the knot and i apply for my spouse visa.

Cool.Seems you are home and dry.My advise to you is that you should be very discrete with the information you provide especially when you are not sure.Another thing is that you do not really need to move money from your fixed to your salary account.Just see the possibilities of getting a statement for your fixed.Then you must be careful to make the relationship look simple when applying.Do not be quick to call her your fiance just yet.In your application just state that you are friends,pure and simple.You dont necessarily need to use your mum as a sponsor except she's the one inviting you.From the look of things,u seem very okay to sponsor yourself.All you need is just a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation.Capish! Mhhh I guess ve said enough.

I am just from the VFS office at Ikeja and guess what? I was given 2years Multiple visa.
Now i know it's not really about how much you have in your account that really matters because at the time i went to submit my application,i was broke and the statement i submitted only had a balance 0f 230k hence the fear factor set in.

Umm, I think you'll find the maximum time one can remain in the UK is 6 months at a stretch, a 2-year visa permits multiple entry, but one can't remain in the country beyond 6 months continuous.

Please I just applied for another visa but it took almost 7 working days before my application was ready.The issue is when i tracked my first visa at a point i saw "oc in the inscan room" or something like that.When i went for collection walah! I had visa stamped.But this current application was tracked but i never saw "oc in the inscan room" at any point.Please i need someone who has been to the UK and has UK visa tracking experience to advise me.I am scared to go for collection.Does it mean i got a visa or not?

Thanks for all your comments in this forum. It was quiet helpful, I applied for a family visiting visa last two weeks. Although I was refused in 2009 when i wanted to attend my cousins wedding ceremony because i did nt have enough funds.

Anyway, this time around I took so many suggestions into consideration before submitting my application this time around.

This is my story, I believe it could be a learning point for others:

I had officially changed my surname, my e-passport, which will expire in jan 2013 still bears my old name, but all my current documents now bears my new surname. Lots of people suggested\advise that I should get a new passport, and that the ECO are very strict concerning name change especially if its a man that is changing name and that I have to travel down to abuja. But after making enquiries, I realized, I will spend more money like 50K and still bear the cost of going down to abuja. And i cant even withstand the hassle\stress with those immigration people. My wife and I decided to apply with my old passport and stated the reasons which was address to ECO in a cover letter.

Another concern that I had was that the invitation letter that we have was an informal letter from my aunty. I contacted my aunty to write a formal invitation letter which must be addressed to British embassy and she educated me that she does not need to write British embassy. That i should include her phone number in my application, if needs be, they will contact her. IT was purely a personal letter from her  to me,  she was more or less GISTING with me in the letter. Although she gave me her work details, bio-data page, Visa page and her professional code to include in our application.

I went to pick the passport on Friday and the visa was granted to us, I was given 6months while my wife was given 2years (she has been to u.k before).

Hope this clarify someone doubt.

Who has applied for the UK visa in the last one month and also tracked it? I need your candid advise.Did you at some point see "OC IN THE INSCAN ROOM"? and if your application is ready within 7 working days without seeing such notification what does it mean? Any body with answers?
