I needed to withdraw 35k this morning in order to attend to some urgent cash needs and since I didn't want only N1000 notes I decided to enter the banking hall. To avoid issues I arrived before 8 am and was one of the first to be attended to. The cashier paid me with N20k bundle and counted 15k with the counting machine twice and gave me my bundle. I didnt bother to do another count as I saw her use the machine twice. Only for me to get back home and realise I had an extra N32k. I counted and recounted but it was an excess.

Truth be told times could be much better Covid and Buhari did not help matters but as a Christian I know not to keep what is not mine. God knows it could have solved a lot of problems but its best to wait for what is mine so i had to go back to the bank and wait to see the Teller. Looking at her interact with her colleagues one could tell she was not happy.
When it was my turn she asked what kind of transaction I wanted and I just handed her the N32k. The relief and joy on her face could not be hidden. She had already told her colleague beside her that she was short so they both joined in telling me thank you.

As usual some may say I was foolish for returning the money but either a young lady could have lost her job in these terrible times or at least the money would be removed from her salary which is still bad enough.
My only prayer is God should consider this and remember me for good.

When I moved to the U. K for my master. I stay in an flat which consist of many white English boys. So an England boy called Harry decided to show me the equipment in the apartment. So when we got to the kitchen he show me a dish washer which I did not care to look at and he responded that have I see a dish washer before? I was shock and told him of course have seen a dish washer and he reply that I did not want to sound rude but africa are poor and always hungry and I reply him do I look like someone that is poor and hungry and his respond was you are from the rich family in Africa and I told him clearly my parents are not rich that am just an average Nigerian boy and he his reply was it is impossible that you are either rich or poor in Africa and my response was that he should stop believing the propaganda been pass by CNN and BBC about Africa.

After that we bonded and we usually teese ourself and crack jokes. So during December period I was infected with covid 19 which all. Of them in the house have travel to their family home to spend Christmas and new year holiday. So during that mid January on Friday I was in the parlour with my white flatmates and we where just joking and catching fun then we started to talk about covid and I told them during the time they travel I contacted covid and Harry reply that he is going to kill me so I laugh and I thought it was one of the joke but he said he mean it and I started telling him that so do u expect me to call u in your family home and tell u I contacted covid and the others white where explaining to him and this guy started using abusing words against me telling me to return back to Africa and saying some nasty words about Africa and I told him if u have brief with me then challange me and stop picking on my continent and colour and he told me that he is going to insult my colour and continent that if I want to fight him then we should go to the garden to fight as man to man. I was just saying in my mind this man is looking for someone to kill him. I just ignore him and when I stop replying him he just calm down and left. What pain me most was when he left then all the white guys told me his crazy that I should not answer him and I was like when he was insulting me racially all of u where just watching him as if nothing happen. After some time he came back to the parlour and apologise to everyone except me for been a nusiance and after that he wanted to discuss with me and I shouted at him saying back off. After sometime he wanted talking to me and I just ignore him as if nobody is talking and after talking I just close my laptop and gave him a bad gesture and left the palour then he reply that I am looking at him as a vallian that he is not a bad guy.

The next day his girlfriend came visiting him and was smiling at me and i just reply her with a bone face and left. Then after sometime he came apologising to me that what he did to me was wrong that he did it under the influence of acholol which I know but I said to myself for him to say this to me when he was drunk meaning he has been harbouring such thoughts in his mind and the alcohol just gave him the courage to express his racist characters to me. I told him I forgive him but right now I don't trust any English people or white people because for such a guy to laugh and joke with u and still be a racist his something terrible. Abeg make una give bristish chance.

Have you ever noticed nor experienced a drastic change in the attitude of someone you used to know that joined the Nigerian police? (please, this is not in any way an attempt to discredit the Nigerian Police Force),

I asked the above question based on what happened at a police station on Friday and ever since the incidence occured, I haven't been myself and I keep on wondering why the system has to be programmed to function that way.

So what happened? why was I at the police station on Friday?
Let me put it this way,
Towards the end of last month (January), a young man of about 23/24 years old, which I shared the same compound/house but different flats with his parents, had a serious altercation with his father which lead to a serious exchange of blows when his father compared him with a notorious yahoo boy in the area, a week later, the angry father arrested and dumped his son in the police cell with a warning never to let anyone get him out of the cell, not even his mom nor his uncles, the boy has been in the cell since 8 of February. According to the mother, the father is not showing any change in his decision, he keeps hardening his heart which made the poor woman to plead with me to have a discussion with her husband to see if I can convince him to have a change of decision.

I met the man and we discussed at length, I was able to convince him to have a change of decision by making him see numerous reasons why he shouldn't abandon his child in the police cell but pride couldn't let him go to the station, he was like "I can't go back to what I vomited" he then asked me to go to the station with his wife.

on getting to the station, the IPO in charge of the boy's case was an old time girl friend of my course mate then at Unizik.
during those days, while I was still a bachelor, she visits and makes a total cleanup of the room, she wash, cook and does all manner of house chores. She was very humble, obedient, caring and down to Earth, I liked her dearly for all these features but bro code kept me away from her, she's beautiful as well.

Immediately I saw her, I was smart enough to recognize her and called her by her name, she wash shocked and she was as well smart enough to recognize me ( you could imagine the kind of joy that engulfed my heart, for my mind, the case has been closed and forgotten) and we greeted ourselves as old time friends we used to be.

I quickly told her what brought us to the station but her response changed my mood instantly, she was like "that criminal that fought his father?" I responded "Yes" but his father sent us to the station to initiate the bailout processes with you. She scolded at me like a wounded lion, she threatened to command one of her male colleague to shoot at me if I don't get away from her, I pleaded with her, reminding her of all the good times we spent together but all my pleas felled on deaf ears and she threatened me one more time that she would be left with no other option than to put me and the woman in the cell if we didn't move away from the police premises.
I had no other option than to take to my heels, we went back to the man and told him what transpired at the station. He went by himself yesterday and initiated the bailout processes and the boy was bailed out.

My experience with her wasn't my first experience with the police officers but what interests me the most is because I knew this lady too well, I've encountered many wicked officers in the past and keep on hearing the oppression by the police officers from the civilians. I can't stop being surprised each time I remember what happened at the police station. I'm even planning to go back to the station to meet her one-on-one after everything subside. I don't know the reasons for her action but I believe it was because of the instructions given to them by the Man. But she over did it, she overreacted.

what is the rationale behind the sudden change in attitude immediately anyone joins the Nigerian police?
Is there any explanation to it? I want to know.

Nigeria prisons should also have farms to produce food for prisoners
