DALLAS — A patient in a Dallas hospital has been confirmed to have the deadly Ebola virus, News 8 has learned.

That person has been held in "strict isolation" as he or she was evaluated for possible exposure to the virus.

This is the first case of Ebola confirmed in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control will hold a press conference at 4:30 p.m. in Atlanta regarding the diagnosis.

In a statement issued Tuesday night, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas said the patient was admitted based on symptoms and "recent travel history."

The hospital, located at Greenville Avenue and Walnut Hill Lane in northeast Dallas, said it's complying with all recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Department of Health to ensure the safety of other patients and medical staff.

I think John Ogu should be replaced with Nosa Igeibor. I follow him a lot in La Liga and he is a very technical player. Anyone remember the first leg of the match against Ethiopia? it was when this guy was introduced into the midfield in the last quarter of the game that we became stable and began creating more scoring chances. John Ogu is not a bad player at all, it is just that he drifts away from position too often. Also Haruna Lukman has come of age now, it would not be a bad idea trying him out too.
HealthRe: Need Help On How To Eradicate Bed Bugs by beethoven:
Try any insecticide that contains DDVP (Dichlorvos or 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate). That is the only chemical I know that kills bedbugs effectively at all stages. But be very careful with it sha because it can be very toxic. I'd recommend you do a thorough spray of your house and leave the place for a weekend.

Try Nopest. I think it is a Nigerian brand name for an insecticide that contains DDVP.

PhonesRe: The Price Of 500MB Of Mobile Data In Nigeria & Across The World by beethoven: 12:49pm On Oct 08, 2013
This one is na total lie shocked shocked shocked. I dey pay $50 for unlimited call and text with T-mobile (US) and that comes with 500MB high speed(4G) internet and unlimited 2.5g internet speed. Plus if you need 2GB high speed internet you only have to pay $10 extra once you exhaust your high-speed internet there is always an unlimited 2.5G speed to fall back on. Meanwhile, going by the US pay standard, the minimum pay in the US is $10/hr; which means if you work 8am-5pm, mon-fri for 4weeks you take home $1600+ (~N260,000). When you compare that to what you have to pay for mobile communications, you would see that what the Telcos charge in the US is OK. The last time I checked the minimum pay in Nigeria was N20000 I'm sure you guys can see how this compares with what the Nigerian Telcos charge per 500MB. tongue

Oga Sir, 600 billion naira is a lot of money in dollars (over 3 billion dollars). It is only in Nigeria that I have heard big figures like that being called anyhow in the news. Y would any sane human being want spend more than 1/4 of his/her budget on counting people and "animals". That is like spending N6,000 on each person/animal counted. Are they going to dispose every counting device after it is used to count one person/animal?

Nairaland GeneralPoliceman Caught On Camera Demanding Bribe Dismissed by beethoven(op): 3:12pm On Aug 08, 2013
The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed a police sergeant, Chris Omeleze, who was caught on video camera demanding a bribe of N25,000 from a motorist.

In the video footage, made available to our correspondent, an unidentified male motorist could be heard pleading with Omeleze to accept N2,000 for a traffic offence, but the sergeant refused.

The sergeant, who was on the passenger seat, placed a call to his superior on the telephone, saying the motorist’s car must be impounded for refusing to “cooperate.”

The policeman, who is attached to the State Traffic Division, Ikeja, was arrested on Tuesday after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, saw the video which went viral on the Internet.

It was learnt that the Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, ordered that the sergeant should face an orderly room trial.

Our correspondent was told that a panel of policemen found the sergeant guilty of misconduct and recommended him for dismissal which the CP approved immediately.

The sergeant, however, said his ordeal was the handiwork of the devil.

Omeleze, with Force number, 192954, was given a dressing down at the CP’s office on Wednesday.

He said, “I regret the incident, I have served in the police for 21 years.”

Motorists had been complaining about extortion by operatives of STD, especially along Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja.

The state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the police were disappointed with the sergeant’s unprofessional behaviour.

Braide said members of the public should cultivate the habit of reporting such cases of extortion to the police backed with evidence. She added that such evidence would help police authorities to flush out bad eggs from the force.

She said, “The video was well detailed and we were able to locate the sergeant. The video was enough evidence and after facing an orderly room trial, he was dismissed.

“The police will not condone such behaviour and members of the public are advised to always report such cases.”

PoliticsObafaiye Shem,”my Oga At The Top” Suspended From Office. Rumour? by beethoven(op): 5:14pm On Mar 16, 2013
Unconfirmed report reaching us says that the Lagos State Commandant of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr. Obafaiye Shem, the man who postulated the “my oga at the top” mantra has been suspended from office by the Ministry of Interior.

As at the time of filing this report, no reason was given for Shem’s suspension as no official of the Ministry agreed to speak to our reporter. However, we gathered that it may not be unconnected with the embarrassing interview the commandant granted Channels Television early this week.

Mr. Obafaiye ordeal started when he appeared on Channels Television morning programme ‘Sunrise’ and when asked the NSCDC website he said:

“Hmmm, the website is, excuse me, my Oga at the top knows the website”, he again, cleared his throat and said: “My Oga at the top is working on the website and I don’t have them”.

When the presenters insisted that he give a functioning website address of the para-military, he dropped the bombshell: “ww.nscdc, that’s all”.

Immediately, the interview went viral and has become so popular to the extent that t-shirts with “my oga at the top” insignia has been produced and selling like hot cake across the country. Some DJ’s and musicians have done what they called remix of the interview.

So what do you think? Do you support the suspension of Mr Shem? If yes, why? If no, why not?
