More questions :

1. Who does discipline for the kids? Is it a joint effort or is there the good cop bad cop arrangement?
Discipline is done by both depending on the offense and circumstances prevalent at the time. She does occasionally reports the young man when she couldn't withstand the emotions of talking to him. One thing is, whoever is talking to him to behave, the other party will not restrict nor complain. We don't beat him though. Only little spanking on his buttock when he is getting out of hand.

2. Describe the most romantic thing you have ever done for madam and what you consider the most romantic thing she has ever done for you

I will be lazy to describe details here but I do romantic stuffs daily. Definition of romantic gestures may differ but doing what pleases your wife daily to me is a romantic thing.
We do take time out for getaways. I do help her with chores daily without her asking except for cooking. I hate the kitchen with passion probably because my mum forced me to learn how to cook.

Surprise gifts when she least expects and what she needs at the right time.

I am sorry for not being able to give details, I don't keep memories of some things.

3. What is it that makes you want to come home everyday despite distraction and temptation out there.

I have a listening and responsible wife who is a friend at home. Getting to see a friend everyday is something everybody looks forward to and the fact that you are at peace there wouldn't be need for dealing with unnecessary issues and nagging. There is peace at home everyday, why won't you come home?
If I could ward off temptation before marriage, I believe I am capable by His grace to deal with all temptations.

4. What role does faith play in your marriage? Are tou religious? Non religious? Religious but practical? Is your spouse on the same wavelength? If not how do you balance?

Faith is the foundation of our union and our faith in God has helped in winning some long term battles. I will not count myself as being religious but practical. She is on the same wavelength with me as regards to conviction of faith. Can two walk together except they agree?

5. In the early years what was one area that caused friction!? As head of the home how did you work to manage the situation?

Maybe I am lucky, maybe we were doing the right thing, our first two years were without any real or serious frictions except for a day and I was the cause unconsciously. I took a joke too far.

However, communication is one of the strong assets we have. And we communicate to find a lasting solution to issues not fault finding. Issues are always addressed without sowing seed of bitterness.

I must add, that I am blessed with a patient spirit and I have a very high level of tolerance. Like I do say, there's nobody I can't live with even the devil. I have developed skills in dealing with people and how to know when to use a long spoon.

Could have written more on all the questions but I am the lazy to type person and I am on mobile. Apologies.

I sincerely think we need to open a new thread to ask the 'hardworkers' the work they are doing
A detailed explanation would be welcomed. The hard work in real sense is not hard work.

I am happy you have decided to accept the baby if DNA proves he is yours.

Believe me, years to come, you will be happy the child came at this time.

Sometimes I do wonder why I didn't impregnate someone while I was in secondary school... grin grin

At least the child will be in the university now or preparing to be than now learning how to talk to a 2yr old over active boy.... cheesy

It is well with you. You have learnt a big lesson of life.

Do not let anyone blackmail you to marrying her if you are not comfortable doing it but make up your mind to be the best dad to the child.

Oluwaseunla,

I understand your points and your last statement shows we are on the same page. cheesy

Aisha2,

It is not easy but it became easy for the wife because she married the man sincerely. The injury was no fault of his.

Do you think the wife would have endured this long if the man had had the injury during one of his "sexcapades " with harems?

The fact that they built their home on a solid foundation makes the challenge a not too difficult one.

My stand remains irrespective of challenges faced, marriages can still be heaven on earth during periods of wilderness depending on the parties involved.

We have too many problems because we are way too selfish that simple compromise is something too difficult for some to do.

Is it not on this same section, many females abhor their mother-in-law without reason. They only want to be married to their husbands and the mother shouldn't come visiting at all. How will such a union stand?
Family › Re: Are You A Happily Married Man? Family Section Needs You by bellong: 8:14am On Nov 07, 2014
^^^ Change in circumstances shouldn't distort the fabric of a union founded on sincerity.

Beginning with sincerity is the first step to success. It is likened to building a house on a solid foundation that can withstand storms when it comes.

Yes, we all need to work on our relationships as none comes very easy but then the same work we put in making our relationships with friends survive is enough to hold a union provided the parties are sincere with themselves.

Having a bad foundation in marriage is strictly the fault of the parties involved and it can still be salvaged of they want it work without that strong word hard work.

Life is too short to die doing exercise... grin

I have heard so many repetitive words from a lot of posters male and female alike saying marriage requires a lot of hard work.

My question, what kind of hardwork or what is the definition of this hardwork?

Why must there be hardwork in a marriage? The word hardwork sounds like too much of a burden to carry.

I want to believe that marriage should be between two individuals who are sincere and will be sincere with each other throughout their lifetime. When there is sincerity of purpose and actions, things will be easier for couples and hardwork wouldn't be necessary.

Fairness, equity and openness are qualities that preserve a union without either of the party seeking how to outdo the other. Having these will make every home a praise on earth.

Potential couples should strive to understand each other very well so as to adopt methods and skills that will help build and cement their union.

Pride, either from the male or female, is a big recipe for destroying a union. Pride goeth before fall.

Getting unwholesome advice and counsels from people who do not seek the good of your home will only crash your union.

In summary, be sincere with each other in all things and so many things will come easy in your relationship.

What do you want to learn from them?

You can as well learn from those in bad marriages because most of them know what is right to do but do not have the power to do what is right. They can have good words atimes. A bad child has his own good day.

It is good this place is filled with good stories and lessons for young men and women alike.

Family › Re: What Did I Do Wrong? by bellong: 2:51pm On Nov 04, 2014
What did you do wrong?

You turned yourself to divine counsellor and failed to know or see where to draw the boundary...

You didn't know when to back out, you were secretly nursing the ambition of taking your counselling to the next level.......

You were sleeping in the same room with a lady who is not a relative free of charge (have you heard the word, flee from every appearance of evil).

You were drilling a borehole without covering the drilling bit and you expect not to reach the water table?

You failed to define the relationship and also failed to think about everything you are thinking now. Putting the cart before the horse.....

You failed in your responsibility as a counsellor to her. She told you reason why her first husband ditched her, yet you are suggesting abortion. You are an enemy of progress in her book.

You couldn't come to terms with holding your vessel in dignity and many more.

What can you do?

Strike out abortion completely from your plans.

When she comes around, apologise for suggesting she have an abortion and both discuss what to do with the pregnancy and how to take care of it.

Decide if you will marry her or not. If you are not, part ways and reach a reasonable conclusion on how to take care of the innocent child.

Charge your mum to court and get a restraining order against from coming near your house or interfering in your nuclear family matters.

If you think you are under her spell, slap yourself 70times (heavy slaps), the spell will be broken and your eyes will clear.

Your wife does not need the stress you people are subjecting her to this period. Please give her rest.

I guess you and your family members should have come to the world in the 14th Century. Are you living in your future or past?

If you aint one of them, why are you disturbed?
And if that eyes of yours works well, you would have noticed I didn't make a sweeping statement/generalization.
What method of data collection/analysis did you employ to arrive at your statement.

It is not until one is affected before an error is pointed out.

Sweeping statement/generalization is not limited to when you use "all, everybody, everyone..etc.." When you make a bold statement from assumption and without concrete or scientific proof, it is not different from sweeping statement.

So, desist from making unconfirmed/beer parrlour comment when backing is needed.

^^^ You will have to talk to her and find out why she is using it.

Is there something she was told against another pregnancy this period?

Before you let it eat deep into you, have a discussion with her first.
