There you go again Baby, there is no bad areas in islam but there are percieved bad areas depending on who is saying it. All the negative and cheap publicities you are giving our holy prophet, Muhammad SAW, you cant take away the fact that he is our hero and role model and could have being yours too if only you knew. The truth here is subjective and dont cut your joy yet but remember one day all of us will account for our actions and inactions. The day of recknoning is coming. |
Baby no true muslim can be embrass by any islamic provision, particularly not me if you think you know me. The problem with you is that you have a haphazard understanding of islam from the disbelievers point of view. Your eyes are veiled to the truth and no one can lift that up except God almighty when He chooes to do so. We have heard stories about people like you in the holy book, so am not surprise to finally meet you on nairaland. Islam does not compel anyone to join it but frown seriously at muslims deserters. That may sound ludicruos to some of you because you only understand the literal meaning, but its much more than that, you ve got to read between the lines. It takes a lot of interpretation to discuss that provision. If you are not a muslim, you cant claim to understand islam, except if you sincerely want to do so. |
We are gradually drifting into a emotional and sentimental conflict here. The coalition against muske was nothing but blind solidarity and crude misrepresentations. The young lady always hinges her posts on reseach and analytical deductions but you guys disappointingly only choose to attack her person and sensibilities without recourse to any concrete evidence. Muske is a shining example in nairaland, she sought out to explain knotty issues at the same time seeking answers to some unattended question. Thats exactly what we should all be doing but the closest to muske on this is probably Shahan. The rest of us are only on some kind of sentimental rampages, trying hard to kick any idea that stand on our way. Am particularly disappointed with Baby, who is a lady like Muske and who should have a better understanding of her fellow woman. I expect us to continue to expose the percieved fallacies in both Islam and Christianity while the aggrieve can respond to issues with respect and maturity. |
The important thing is change. We know Obj has to go and practically we cant think of any other party outside ANPP, PDP or AC winning the presidency. I know its almost the same old story but Buhari definitely is not corrupt. That is our major problem in this country. Religious bigots can not impose anything on us. we ve got to live together as one in nigeria. I think we should give Buhari a chance. |
Unfortunately, you guys sent our big brother out. You were never ready to understand him. He was such a very learned and experience man. i miss him so much too. i wish he come back. |
Its now very clear we are left with a narrow choice between Buhari and Yaradua. Looking at their background, i d rather go for Buhari. |
Shahan vs Belloti on nairaland? Not for the slap sha? And definitely not for the holy Kiss suggested by mrpataki. ![]() Surely am getting more sympathy from you than Baby, David or Havila. But the four of you are just some wonderful bunch. it would have being boring without you. with due respect to my other friends across the divides, pataki, forgetme, etc. However, in my group, we have the likes of our senior partner Bro Olabowale, Babs, Muske and the mercurial mukina. i think she deserve some awards on nairaland. ![]() This thread is surely dedicated to the friends of Shahan, which surely i am one. |
There shall always be adulterated bibles as long as no one is saying the truth. But its good you are beginning to accept that fact. |
Dr Havila. In Islam if one abandoned his faith and practise something else, its called Ridda and its a punisheable offence. Although an unbeliever can not be force to join Islam, conversion from islam to paganism or anything else is viewed seriously. Am sure this may provoke so many replies but that is the beauty of Islam. |
David, Islam is Naseehah, its not by compulsion. Thats why you see our brothers marrying christian women. Even during the time the Rasoul SAW when the unbelievers formented trouble, the verses that follows was Suratul Kafiroun. Am sure you know it off-head. |
Shahan, you are welcome. ![]() Baby, i have said it time and time again, i dont need to refute any misrepresentation because the intension is predetermined. A muslim that need to cause violence can invoke those misunderstood quotes to support his action and christian that wants to tarnish islam too. both cases can not be reconciled. so why exercise in futility? Anyway, i hope you guys allow us to discuss the beauty of Quran here. |
Shahan, i cant believe you are going this far in your attack on islam. Its enough you ve opted out conveniently after waiting for your oldman to take the bold step. i assume its a family decision not neccessarily democratic, (a la PDP). We have recieved so much venom from David, Havila, Baby and others regarding the percieved negative conducts of our holy prophet, Rasoul SAW. We reject in totality the misinterpretations of Quranic Verses and Hadith provisions. But we took the insults as the ranting of some ants who felt there shouldnt be any need for healthy discussions between Us and Them. Apart from Dr Havila, who committed Ridda recently, most of the christians argueing here were victims of parental legacies and family traditions. As regards to the scriptures originally in Hebrew and Arabic, we always quotes, translates and misinterprete texts to tally with our opinions and propaganda. We are mostly born muslims and christians without our input and choose to either cling or rebel when we finally attain adulthood. If the whole christendom joined nairaland to repeat what the frontliners had spent so much mental and emotional resources posting here, it will not change the fact that we are still muslims and christians hanging out on a common platform to socialise and make lasting friendship. i would love to reading articles about christianity written by christians to throw some insight about Jesus, Trinity and stuff like that instead of constant criticism of my unshaken faith. |
When the heat is too much on the religion section i come here to cool my heels. Babyosisi, i think you are very correct i like you so much but i dont like your writing. so its now a balancing act mrpataki, i want to forgive you for the holy kiss blunder, but be carefull next time. Shahan, good to know am welcomed. 2007 is a crazy year politically, Lebanon, North Korea, Iraq, Iran, Sen Clinton vs Sen Obama, Buhari vs Yaradua, and on nairaland the beat goes on, ![]() |
Bia Bia Story, Bedtime Story, Morale Story, Tales by moonlight, etc i hereby wish to thank you all wholeheartedly for the reviews and kind rating you gave our Sheik Story. We hope we can count on you in our subsequent episodes. ![]() |
My belief is that the Sheik was speaking for all the religions that recognises the existence of God. Your arguement here is not about the substance but you just dont feel comfortable with the actor. |
I always try to avoid discussing internal christian divisions, thats not my area. My opinion is that Catholic are christians and their beliefs and practices are in line with the faith they profess. Anyway am glad some christians also see that part as aberration. It really is. |
The funniest quotes in christianity is the first part of the Angelus, " Hail Mary Mother of God, How can anyone say that? Mother Of God, not Mother of Jesus. |
This is not a bedtime story. I believe Oyakhilome and Adefarasin have given so much similar stories. But the essence of it all is to arrive at the incontestable fact that there is GOD. |
As you already know mosque is a place for saying prayers and also Islam so much discourages unneccessary mingling of opposite sex. Your answer is Yes women can pray in the mosque but it is better for them if they pray at home. In addition to this also is the question of convenience. Knowing the preference given to women praying at home, some mosques doesnt have provision for women section probably due to size of the mosque or the decision of the congregation. However, this should not in anyway be seen as discrimination because essentially the reward for women praying at home is better than that in the mosque and vice versa for men. I hope you understand. Thank you |
Hello our Queen, am glad you choose to ask rather than assert. ![]() In the Masjid, we goes there to pray 5 times daily, jumuat, Eid and other essential salats. The only two persons that can be prominently recognised are the one who called for the prayer and the one that lead the prayer. The one that call for prayer (Athan) is known as Muathin, while the one that lead the prayer is know as Imam. However, there is no clearcut and visible hierarchy in the Masjid. Every learned person is given appropriate recognition regardless of class or creed. Everyone else is part of the congregation and every learned person can lead or call for prayers in any mosque and in any location. Every muslim knows exactly what is recited at the prayer calls and exactly the manner the imam should lead that prayer. Arent you already in love with these synchronisation of events? of course you are. |
Ameen Wa Alaykassalamu Wa Rahmatullahi Ta ala Wa barakatuhu, Yah Alhaji Onikunkewu. We welcome you back from the holy pilgrimage and pray that God accept all our acts of Ibadah and save our skins from the embers of hell. i hope you brought me a jallabiyya from mecca. ![]() |
i cant believe the trinidad girl started this thread just because she wants to legitimize her having sex with her fiancee. The answer lies in your consciense while doing it. if you feel good then its up to you but if you somehow think something is wrong, then you are damn right something is surely wrong. |
Ofcourse Christianity is a religion but it doesnt make sense to me. i am speaking for myself oh |
If for any reason you choose to believe that muslims are not tolerant, muslims on nairaland are tolerant and crave for dialogue. Lets take it from here |
A point of correction, David and Baby. I was not bragging about our religious activities, i was only listing part of the duties of an average muslim and wondering how idle i would have being after given christiniaty the needed recognition. This apart also, in Islam we dont believe that the weight of your righteousness alone is enough to take you to heaven but we all know that Allah is Gafurrun Raheem. Allah is the most Beneficient, The most Merciful. Reward and Punishment; Allah SAW promised to punish the wrong doers in hell IF THEY DID NOT REPENT TILL THEY DIED. The Lord also said the Forgiveness is His. He assured us of His forgiveness whenever we ask. Your confusion about Sharia Legal System confounded your ignorance about Allah's Mercies. Sharia is an islamic alternative to the conventional legal system, the convictions and sentences follows a pragmatic but transparent judicial processes with lawyers witnesses and judges. It is essentially a state Law and has nothing to do with your personal relationship with God. You broke state law, tried by the state and punished by the state IN LINE with islamic provisions. But if you offended the Lord and seek for His forgiveness sincerely, that is 100% guaranteed Insha Allah. And David, there is no Quranic provision or Hadith that encourages violence, rape or terror, its basically a matter of interpretation and opinion. You know these verses were revealed in the context of some prevailing circumstances. Alternatively, human reasoning then could have led to a worst case scenarios. Last weekend i heard someone said on CNN that if you want legitimise violence you can get support from any scripture you chooses even from a dictionary. Islam is not about rape, terror or killings and Insha Allah i can never be a party to either. I also advice us to keep following the good teachings of Islam and stop telling us that Islam is bad because it hurts when you say that. |
Dr Havila, i am very much humble by your lovely and sweet citation about me. i was tempted to convert right away. . i always knew you like me but am only being careful not to get carried away. But dont worry when next you visit my hood in naija, i will spread a red carpet right from the arrival wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport. Having said this, Havila, may be our motives on religion section of nairaland is different. i have noticed the vigor and sometimes desperation in which most christians write to supress our views and magnify theirs. i realise you are all out to prove that you are practicing a superior religion. My point of view has always being to encourage proper understanding of our respective religions. i have nothing against christians for chosing to be so but i always believe that Islam is a wonderful religion if only everyone cares to find out. You and your friends always seem to know more about islam than i do. Me, son of the caliphate? I believe we can all come together to discuss issues affecting religious misrepresentations and global peace. we need to stop looking at each other as enemies. There are a lot we can gain by understanding each other without prejudice. I dont think we are enemies and to be frank with you i never knew there is a verse in the quran that says we can slaughter an enemy till i came to nairaland. i always read the portion that encourages brotherhood and neighbourliness. Even the hadith i only read those like the one about Rasoul visiting his wicked infidel neighbour that was jailed. The rasoul bailed him out. So Havila, its not about conversion, i dont think the whole pontiffs at the vatican can convert me, i may only flog Mr Benedict the IVX if he comes near me, for his statement last year in Germany. . Lets just understand islam is not Terrorism, its a peaceful religion and by some of our actions and condemnation we are encouraging the terrorists to hijack it. Insha Allah, i shall always be a muslim but a good muslim too. |
4get me, welcome back from one of your journeys. Allah heal us by giving us access to the hospital and drugs and by providing for our sustenance. |
