Then David why do you think that that particular ideology did not get the expected wider acceptance among the muslim ummah? Can you really narrow it down to ideology alone? Cant you think of other global influences as a result of some percieved western hypocrisy, poverty and neglect? Dont you think there is more to it than mere ideology which some of us share with those so-called violent people?
Christianity EtcRe: For Muslims Only by belloti(op): 2:33pm On Apr 10, 2007
David, cant you for once just relax and listen to yourself? Can you give me even a biased percentage of violent muslims or terrorist vis-a-vis the peaceful ones?
Christianity EtcRe: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by belloti(m): 2:27pm On Apr 10, 2007
The problem with christianity is the tendency to look down on other faiths. I dont know where the supposed superiority complex came from. You ve all got more intelligent muslims around you but then whenever it comes to the issue of comparative religion the muslims seems like some foolish illiterates on the basis of your disagreement with them.

When you talk about violence or its endorsement, cant you stop to ask why should anyone in his senses play around with the sensibility of millions of other faithfuls? If you stay on the rail track and got killed i believe the question most people will ask should presumably be why should anyone be standing on the track and not why did the train driver not apply his brakes.

Islam is a religion of peace but it does not encourage willfull insults. I agree the woman shouldnt have being killed but then i also agree if anyone decides to do what she did deliberately, then he is trying to provoke the muslim faithfuls. i dont want to please anyone in this forum by singing the tunes he would have wanted to hear. the plain truth is that no religion should be disrespected and whoever does that should also take the responsibility for whatever outcome resulted.

You guys just drums up all kinds of fantasies. we have some basic facts on the ground to deal with.

Its a Democracy

Power shift to the north

PDP and ANPP are the likely winning parties

Its a game of numbers and networks

Its basically narrowed down to Buhari or Yaradua

Yaradua is a continuation of this anomaly and misrule

Buhari is an alternative.

Cant you just figure that out yourselves?
Christianity EtcRe: For Muslims Only by belloti(op): 12:59pm On Apr 06, 2007
i dont know if you are familiar with the hype and excitement around the 1st April. That may not count for celebration in your eyes but it surely is.

Anyway we are talking to the ummah here.
Christianity EtcRe: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by belloti(m): 12:54pm On Apr 06, 2007
Sometimes i really dont know how you guys read posts. My comment about blaming the school authority for assigning the lady to invigilate islamic exams seemed to be interpreted as blaming the lady for accepting to invigilate. what a crass ignorance and confusion.

As for baby, yes i once told you that islam sanctions the killing of apostates and today i also want to let you know that Islam sanctions the killing for deliberate desceration and abuse of the Holy Quran. However, i believe the case of the gombe lady has no malicious intent, it was a big miscalculation by the kids and we all condemn it. However, for the record, if any sane person intentionally and maliciously abused the holy book, the sharia verdict is death penalty.
Christianity EtcRe: Gombe Muslim Students Have Put Me In Sorrow By Killing My Friend by belloti(m): 3:41pm On Apr 05, 2007
No True muslim can agree to what happenned in gombe, its totally unacceptable but if the likes of simmy and david already labelled all muslims as fanatical then dont expect us here to come out with the anticipated soothing denials. we are muslims and we shall always be Insha Allah regardless of what some mischievious and reckless christians feel about it. Islam is peace. The Lady that got killed in gombe is a terrible crime by the school kids and the circustances around it. We blame the school authority for assigningt her to invigilate an islamic exams and all those who perpetrated the heinous crime. My condolences to her family and friends.

The point here is we no longer want to join you folks in celebrating April fool. Spanish history can be saved for another day. Despite anticipating some of your responses, most of them were totally mischievious and unguarded.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Is A Better Alternative To Yar'Adua by belloti(op): 3:18pm On Mar 28, 2007
9ja4eva, you are absolutely correct. But then, the days are approaching lets keep our fingers crossed. Meanwhile, i would like to stress here that i have nothing against yaradua as a person, he is obviously a very nice man.
Christianity EtcFor Muslims Only by belloti(op): 3:07pm On Mar 28, 2007
Most of us celebrate April fool day every year and fool each other. But how many of us know the bitter facts hidden behind it. It was around a thousand years ago that Spain was ruled by Muslims. And the Muslim power in Spain was so strong that it couldn't be destroyed. The Christians of the west wished to wipe out Islam from all parts of the world and they did succeed to quite an extent. But when they tried to eliminate Islam in Spain and conquer it, they failed. They tried several times but never succeeded.

The unbelievers then sent their spies in Spain to study the Muslims there and find out what was the power they possessed and they found that their power was TAQWA. The Muslims of Spain were not just Muslims but they were
practicing Muslims. They not only read the Quran but also acted upon it. When the Christians found the power of the Muslims they started thinking of strategies to break this power. So they started sending alcohol and cigarettes to Spain free of cost. This technique of the west worked out and it started weakening the faith of the Muslims in particular the young generation of Spain.

The result was that the Catholics of the west wiped out Islam and conquered the entire Spain bringing an end to the
EIGHT HUNDRED LONG YEARS' RULE OF THE MUSLIMS in Spain . The last fort of the Muslims to fall was Grenada (Gharnatah), which was on the 1st of April. From that year onwards, every year they celebrate April fools day on
the 1st of April, celebrating the day, they made a fool of the Muslims.

They did not make a fool of the Muslim army at Gharnatah only, but of the whole Muslim Ummah. We, the Muslims, were fooled by the unbelievers. They have a reason to celebrate April fool day, to keep up the spirit. Dear brothers and sisters, when we join in this celebration, we do so out of ignorance. If we had known about it, we would never have celebrated our own downfall. So now, that we are aware of it, and now let us promise that we shall never celebrate this day. We should learn our lesson from the people of Spain, and shall try to become practicing Muslims, never to let anybody weaken our faith. WE ARE NOT FOOLS ANYMORE

Christianity EtcRe: Bounties Of Jannat (paradise) by belloti(op): 2:49pm On Mar 28, 2007
You all got me wrong once again.

We muslims totally denounce the barbaric and gruesome murder of the female teacher by irate Muslim pupils on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at a secondary school in Gandu, Gombe state. The Vice Principal of the school, Hajiya Hadiza Gombe, in media reports was quoted to have said the teacher, who was employed on contract was assigned to invigilate the SS1 pupils who were writing their Islamic Religious Knowledge exams. She added that the teacher suspected that a foul play was about to take place when one of the students wanted to come in with his books to the exam hall. Hajiya Gombe said when the teacher collected the books and threw them outside, unknown to her, there was a copy of the Holy Qur’an among the books. The students were reported to have attacked the teacher outside the school compound after the exam and killed her. The school principal, Mr. Mohammed Sadiq, who tried to protect the teacher in his office was also terribly beaten and injured while they set the teacher's car, three classes, the school's clinic, administrative block and library on fire.

Those misguided youths violated the sanctity of human life that God made sacred in their twisted ideas that they were 'defending' the Holy Qur’an. Rather, their actions endanger and offend the basic principles of Islam, which are mercy, justice, freedom, forgiveness and human dignity. The Qur'an, the most fundamental scripture of Islam which these vicious youths claim to be defending, teaches sanctity of life, not violence. It enjoins peace, justice, and compassion as basic tenets for all of humankind and condemns violence and aggression in all forms. Even if a genuine crime was committed, 'vigilante-type justice' is not acceptable form of justice in Islam. Instead of offering to kill for the Qur’an, would it not have been better for the youth to declare that they would live by following these Qur’anic principles? This is what Islam teaches. This ugly incident is another sad example that what Islam teaches and what some Muslims do are, sadly, often very different.

It was wrong and Allah (SWT) says in Surah 16; 90 of the glorious Qur'an: "Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition." Then we should have no difficulty in being examples for others to follow as it was demonstrated in the actions of the school principal, Mr. Mohammed Sadiq, who risked his own life to try to protect the teacher’s. This reprehensible attack, like many others, definitely crossed a threshold in the insanity that pervades daily life in Nigeria . As the Qur’an clearly further states, "If anyone slays a human being, it shall be as though he had slain all mankind" (Surah 5:32 ). It is in the light of these magnificent words that i call on Muslim youth to reject extremist ideologies and seek to cultivate a culture of love, tolerance and coexistence for the advancement of all people as taught by Islam.

This terrible crime illustrates once again the depth of misunderstanding and confusion that has darkened those who claim to belong to Islam. Regardless of the history of deep sectarian strife in certain places or cultures, there is no escaping the fact that the mentality that can lead to the level of fanaticism and violence demonstrated by the irate youths is taught, not inherent to Islam.

Mckren, you dont know buhari from Adam so dont come here trying to mess him up like that. Buhari meant well for nigeria else he could just fashy everything and retire back to his farm and take a cool rest. but we need someone like him to clean things up, thats why he offered himself for service.
Christianity EtcRe: Bounties Of Jannat (paradise) by belloti(op): 10:53am On Mar 27, 2007
Baby, dont fan the amber of hatred here again. For how long shall we continue to narrow the circumstances of Middle east to Islam alone. Have u seen any nigerian muslim with a strap yet? Islam should be separated from regional conflicts and Arab response to the global injustice to them. Arabs are mostly muslims and we feel their pain but we dont subscribe to terrorism just like we dont agree with the western hypocrisy. The world is big enough for all of us

you guys are just exposing your religious and ethnic sentiments while trying to preach against it. Now that we may definitely have a muslim president why dont we look at other qualities?. My point is always the man that can help us out of this predicaments. someone that can truly fight corruption. i think buhari can guarantee that.
Christianity EtcRe: Bounties Of Jannat (paradise) by belloti(op): 10:18am On Mar 22, 2007
Hannydarl, infidels are the unbelievers and if you think you are one of them then the fatwa could include you. But on a more serious notes, there is no injunction that can support initiation of violence in any islamic books. Tendency might only be there to lay hands on provisions for revenge and self defence but we all love to live in peace with the global community and expect nothing less from them.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Is A Better Alternative To Yar'Adua by belloti(op): 11:28am On Mar 21, 2007
baby, i can see your only fear is the presumed stance of buhari on religion. both of these guys are muslims and infact yaradua adopted sharia fully in katsina state, i dont think he may look more acceptable to you.

This story can not possibly be true, someone is only trying to be mischievious. No where in the world can this thing happen particularly sokoto where we have the largest concentration of churches in the heart of a muslims city. Ahmadu Bello way in sokoto has more churches than mosque located along that route.

Kevin Aje can not be so ungrateful to the harmonious relationship he is enjoying since his installation in front of my family house, when i was just a little kids. i can remember dancing and running around with the celebration train then.

The point is sokoto remains the most tolerant muslims city in the whole country.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Is A Better Alternative To Yar'Adua by belloti(op): 1:04pm On Mar 19, 2007
Angel, we are looking at the current political landscape and the array of aspirants on parade. Its pathetically becoming clearer that our choices might get narrowed down to this two katsina politicians. i am only asserting here that in a worst case scenario when we ended up with the double-edge gloomy faces, we may as well start getting ready for the difficult task of accepting one of them and my point is that the disciplinarian buhari is better than the sick obasanjo protege when it comes to getting us out of this cobweb of deciept and corruption.
PoliticsRe: Sultan Of Sokoto: Inec Not Serious! by belloti(m): 12:25pm On Mar 19, 2007
I dont think its fair to use nairaland as a platformfor attacks on the sensibilities of nigerian muslims.

The sultan, His Eminence Sa ad Abubakar III has a right to speak for his constituency just like the soyinkas, sijuades, gbadebos or adeyemis of the south and of the christians. The point he raised about INEC when they invited him to kaduna for his opinion is inorder, while the naira inscription was first presented to him by CBN themselves in sokotoasking for his opinion and understanding.

I dont agree with his views about constitutional roles but david vindicated him by challenging the FG for relying on the monarchs for crisis resolution.

Enough of childish insults on the symbols of our faith and heritage. Respect is reciprocal

My brother babs makes a lot of sense to me i dont know why you girls always get him wrong. He is a muslim and he explain things from islamic view points which naturally could be contrary to your own spiritual perceptions, i cant see where the conflicts spring from. You dont expect him to come here and try to please you by joining you in attacking Islam. Converts or no converts we can only account for our own actions and allow others to be.

Its obvious most of you hinges your distaste for buhari to is support for sharia in the north. Can you tell me any politician that can openly condemn sharia practice in northen states? Its not possible.
Buhari looks more like the kind of leader we want in our present day nigeria. Hard, Honest, Sincere, Determined and Principled. Yaradua is quite honest and sincere but he lacks that hard touch in him to implore authority and impose believe. Am sure, you know what i mean

Razorr, na wa for your dirty mouth oh by invoking the wrath of some unseen hand. Should you feel so bad after what drogba did to our little kids?. We thank God it was the booth of lanky Abou Diaby not someone like the Animal (Baptista). Terry would have joined chech in shopping for some fashionable head and neck gears. cheesy
SportsRe: Chelsea Wins Carling Cup by belloti(m): 9:55am On Feb 27, 2007
This was a real kick. I wish it was Drogba not Terry.

SportsRe: Chelsea Wins Carling Cup by belloti(m): 5:50pm On Feb 26, 2007
Its not all about the result. we should look at the whole picture. The only difference in that match was the scoring ability of Drogba and the fantastic goalkeeping of petr chech. The boys played much better and clearly everyone saw the vulnerability of chelsea and their over reliance on physical rather than tactical play. Its a game of football and one side has to win. if i was a chelsea fan i would be tempted to celebrate but the major highlight was the exciting display by the teenagers from Ashburton groove.
