IgbereTV reports that one of the music moguls in the country, Donjazzy clocked 37 on November 26, 2019, and he shared the good news on his Instagram page. To make the celebration an even bigger one, Jazzy revealed that his record label, Mavin, now has huge office spaces located in Victoria Island and Lekki areas in Lagos.

On his Instagram page he wrote:

All Glory to God for making me see another year. GOD has been so faithful to me. They say a fool at forty is a fool forever so Turning 37 today makes me feel like Jazzy you have only 3 more years to be a fool o lol. On Monday, Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo state said he he has been able to put Imo State in order, after six months of becoming governor as he met the government in a very bad state when he became governor, IgbereTV reports.

Ihedioha made this known while speaking to journalists in his Owerri home. He said every tier of government was in shambles.

He said: “When I came in, the style of governance deviated from every norm, and Imo was the worst run state of the federation. There was institutional and infrastructural disorder and decay. No state had the number of garnishee orders like Imo; land cases against Imo government were numerous. The state was sufficiently distracted that we have to spend money hiring lawyers. “It took me two weeks before I got where to operate from because the Government House was nothing near its name; the judiciary was in bad shape with the judges being owed close to 30 months salary; promotions and appointments in the civil service were arbitrarily done with the result that the sector collapsed. “The House of Assembly, which is supposed to be a place of dignity for the the state lawmakers is currently debased and in ruins and the lawmakers had no houses to stay. “We are planning to pull the building down but if we do, it would be misrepresented; so I think we have to rebuild it despite the lean resources at our disposal. “Go and take a look for yourself, the infrastructure there has decayed. If the lawmakers are your family members you cannot allow them to stay there; so we are thinking of relocating them to another site so that we can rebuild the place.” He lamented at the discomfort of the offices of the lawmaker, describing it as a shame for them to operate in.

Ihedioha said that the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has advised him to evacuate the state lawmakers away to a temporary site to avoid disaster. The governor however has good news for the people as he said that Imo is now on the right footing. “What I started out first was finding men and women of competence to man various sectors of our economy; we started by fixing our roads. So far, we have awarded 25 road contracts and all the contractors have mobilized to site."

He said, “Today, our state is no longer a laughing stock. Imo now know that they have a governor who talk and work. We have and are putting round peg in round holes, while our civil service is now performing well."

On Monday, Ex-Niger Delta militants who are undergoing Electric Power Transformer Repairs and Maintenance training under the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) on Monday, said they will return to violence in the creeks of Niger Delta, over non-payment of training allowance.

IgbereTV reports that the Ex-militants, who were 200 in number, joined by other sympathetic ex-militants who moved in protest from the Rivers State University, Training Camp, to the New GRA Zonal Office of the PAP in Port Harcourt, to make known their grievance.

One of the Ex-militants, Biira Barida of the Osama Ex-Militants Camp, who spoke for the protesters, said the training billed to last for nine months has been stopped due to the non-payment of their N90,000 monthly allowance after two months payment by the contractor in charge over alleged non-remittance by the PAP office.

Barida said, “we resumed 3rd July 2019, only to be asked to go home October 31, due to lack of funding and refusal to pay contractual obligations to contractor/consultant of the Electric power Transformer Repairs and Maintenance Training. “Most disappointing is the fact that power distribution is a major challenge in Nigeria, due to very limited skilled and semi-skilled manpower in this technical intensive area. The training was envisioned to grow local capacity in transformer manufacturing and maintenance to save millions of dollars on overseas training or technical support. “If N4.5billion could be expended on procurement of items which were later looted, why can’t Amnesty office pay for this training, that is very essential for national growth? Why do government and its agencies prefer violence to meaningful engagement?” The protesters called on President Buhari to urgently intervene and pay them their allowances within seven working days.

When contacted, Murphy Ganaga, spokesman to Prof Charles Dokubo, Coordinator of the PAP, Murphy Ganaga, declined to make any comment on the issue.

IgbereTV reports that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Tuesday, launched 100 security patrol vehicles to enhance security operations in the State.

Makinde, who equally launched the State’s Security Code 615, declared that the welfare of security officials would be the top priority of his administration.

According to the Governor, with the launch of the sophisticated gadgets and communication tools in the vehicles, criminals would have no place to hide in the state.

He maintained that criminal elements in the State were in for a tough time, because the security agencies now had Oyo State covered in terms of communication equipment and other gadgets.

He equally tasked security officers to be ready and up to the task to combat crimes in the State.

“This administration is resting on four pillars and one of the pillars is security. We want people to come into Oyo State and feel secure. We want them to come in here, sleep with their two eyes closed.

“In furtherance of our administration’s vision for a safe Oyo State, we are here to launch these security patrol vehicles. The men are ready. They are no-nonsense officers and men. So, criminals are now in for it in Oyo State, if they ever try to come in here, I believe we are up to the task.

“I thank our service commanders for their cooperation for contributing the officers and men that will carry out this task to secure Oyo State for us. We have Oyo State covered in terms of communication, which is a new one. It means that no matter where in Oyo State, we will get criminals. I can’t wait to see officers chase criminals down the streets with the siren blaring because they now have everything that is required of them to do their job.

“I can assure the officers that their welfare will be the top priority for us. So, on this note, we will give the vehicles out and start looking at how the criminal elements will ‘pick race’ from Oyo State,” he said.

Special Adviser on Security to the Governor and Executive Secretary, Oyo State Security Trust Fund (OYSSTF), Fatai Owoseni, maintained that security patrol vehicles being launched had been equipped with state-of-the-art security equipment.

He added that Makinde had also approved the upgrade of communication equipment of the police to be able to reach the hinterlands of the State.

“One of the cardinal pillars of Governor Makinde’s administration is security and, in furtherance, it is your commitment that the security operation of Oyo State will be improved. Consequently, when you marked your 100 days in office, 100 motor vehicles were procured, among other things, to bridge the security infrastructure gap of the security agencies in Oyo State. In addition to that, some security equipment were procured, because, without the equipment, the vehicles won’t be useful.

“Also, the Governor has kindly approved that communication gadgets should be installed in those vehicles including the upgrading of the communication infrastructure of the Nigerian Police in the State to enable us to reach as far as Saki and our border areas, which the State did not have before. We are here today, Your Excellency, with all the enablement you have provided, including the light-up project that the State has kick-started, which also has an impact on security.

“The vehicles are ready for the operatives who will man them to be deployed to identify key areas in the whole of Oyo State.

The lifetime achievement award is coming a few weeks after death rumours that were quickly dispelled by the actress and her on-screen husband, Chika Okpala aka Chief Zebrudaya.

Chioma Ude reportedly informed film buffs that AFRIFF decided to give its first-lifetime achievement award to Ovuleria many weeks back.

The CEO and founder of AFRIFF went on to narrate how she reached out to the veteran actress as well as ex-Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who agreed to endow the award.

Ude noted that she and her team specifically wanted to honour a living veteran who has paid his/her dues in the industry with the award.

Ovularia is one of the stars of the 80s TV sitcom, ‘The New Masquerade’. IgbereTV reports that the Nigerian Army has said that its troops have again successfully dislodged Boka Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists at Malam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno.

The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

Iliyasu said that the terrorists attempted to launch an attack on the location of the troops of 64 and 98 Task Force Battalions and elements of the Armed Forces Special Forces Battalion on Friday.

He said that the terrorists who were in a revenge mission had on Wednesday been humiliated by the troops in their attempt to infiltrate the troops’ location by launching an unsuccessful attack.

“Within less than 24 hours of their devastating defeat however, the outgunned criminal insurgents launched another desperate attack on the highly spirited troops of Mallam Fatori in the wee hours of Friday.

“In a swift and highly coordinated response, the gallant and relentless troops at the location once again handed them another crushing defeat.

“At the end of this particular encounter, one Boko Haram Gun Truck was completely burnt along with 3 of the criminal insurgents that were trapped in it.

“Apparently, the vehicle was gutted by fire as a result of the high volume of fire delivered by the troops,” he said.

Iliyasu further disclosed that two of the insurgents were neutralised during the ensuing gun battle with the troops, adding that a number of equipment were recovered.

“These include one Anti-Aircraft Gun, one Anti-Aircraft Gun barrel, eight AK47 Riffles and one Rocket Propelled Gun tube, three AK 47 magazines, one bandolier, two rounds of Anti-Aircraft Gun ammunition and one Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb.

“Subsequently, the Air Task Force, Operation LAFIYA DOLE went on the trail of the routed remnants of the insurgents to ensure their total obliteration.

“Regrettably, two gallant soldiers sustained gunshot wounds during this encounter. Both of them have already been stabilized and are already responding positively to treatment at a military hospital,” he said.

According to him, the The Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Maj.-Gen Olusegun Adeniyi, has commended the troops on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai.

“He further enjoined them to continue to mount pressure on the insurgents until they are forced to total submission,” he said.

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr. Musa Wada in Kogi State has cast his vote.

Wada was seen casting his vote at his polling unit on Saturday.

Speaking after voting, Wada applauded the INEC and security officials who foiled the attempt by some thugs allegedly sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the election.

He expressed confidence that he will emerge winner if the peace and orderly conduct of the polls is allowed to continue without any form of disruption.

Wada said: “The atmosphere is peaceful but some APC thugs tried to sabotage the process.

“I am happy the voting process has started and I believe I will emerge, winner of this election,

“If it continues this way I’ll say we would have a peaceful election but it’s too early to decide. It can all change because of those miscreants but I’ve warned the people and security agents to be vigilant.”

Thousands of Kogi residents will today cast their votes for the candidates of their choice in a keenly contested governorship election.

A total of 24 parties are taking part in the election. Although the registered voters in the state are 1,646,350, about 1,485,828 (90.2%) have collected their PVCs and are thus ready to vote in the 21 local governments of the state.

The incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC), hails from the central district of the state and hopes to make history as the first governorship candidate outside of Kogi East Senatorial District to be elected as governor.

His major challenger, Musa Wada, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is from Kogi East, the region with nearly twice the voting population of each of the other two districts. This setting offers an interesting contest with Kogi West having the potential to be the battleground for both candidates.

The build-up to today’s polls has been marked by violence, intimidation and outright attacks on candidates and their supporters. The development has given rise to apprehensions that the turnout of voters could be low.

The opposition parties are also not certain the police would be professional and impartial. The invasion of the hotel hosting the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, who is Chairman of the PDP campaign Council, also cast doubts on the police neutrality.

Although the battle is expected to be between the two main political parties, the APC and the PDP, the effects of other participating political parties cannot be underestimated. The Social Democratic Party’s Natasha Akpoti, Aisha Audu of the Young Peoples Party, Dele Bello-Williams of the Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria and Justina Abanida of the African Democratic Congress have the potential of affecting the fortunes of the two leading candidates, perhaps marginally.

The police have assured they would provide adequate security for voters, electoral officers and materials. Whether the voters trust the police enough to turn out en masse would be seen on Saturday.

IgbereTV reports that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed that his administration would commence payment of N35, 000 minimum wage from November.

The decision was taken after series of meetings and discussions between the Lagos State Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC), Lagos State Government, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Friday.

Disclosing this, Comrade Rasaq Adio Falade, State Chairman of JNC, said necessary terms of settlement and agreement were reached at the meeting.

The National Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (NJPSNC) and the Federal Government’s Negotiations and Consequential Adjustment of Salaries had produced the following figures on Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS): GL. 01-06=N30,000; GL. 07=23.2%; GL. 08=20%; GL. 09=19%; GL. 10-14=16% and GL. 15-17=14%.

But, Falade said the government agreed to pay N35,000 as minimum wage.

Falade stated that the state government had agreed to pay GL. 01-06=N35,000.09;. GL. 07=30%; GL. 08-10=25%; GL. 12-14=22.5% and GL. 15-17=20%.

He stressed that payment of allowances peculiar to certain professions/sectors such as health workers, medical personnel, teachers, and so on, embedded in their respective Consolidated Salary Structures (e.g. CONHESS, CONMESS, CONTISS, etc) shall be paid for those stated items (e.g. Hazard, Call, Shift, etc) at such rates as provided in the various salaries of government approved in 2011.

According to Falade, the payment of the New Minimum Wage at the consequential adjustment rates shall commence in Lagos State in the November, 2019 salary cycle.

“The New Minimum Wage Act came into effect on the 18th April, 2019 as such, it was agreed that payment of the six and half months arrears shall be be made and concluded by the first quarter of year 2020,” he said.

IgbereTV reports that a man known as Thabang Ngobeni, 25, stabbed his 3-year-old son to death in a veld near the Bremer Street informal settlement in South Africa because he believed that sacrificing the child would "cleanse him of the evil that has befallen him"

The body of the boy, Mohau was found in the veld with multiple stab wounds to his face and chest.

Hercules CPF chairman, Johan van Staden said, “We were alerted to the situation shortly after 16:00. The body was found not long afterwards.”

Xander Loubser of Bestcare paramedics was part of the search party that found the child’s body.

“When we found him, his little body was already cold,” said Loubser.

Sam Ngobeni, the murder suspect's father told journalists that his son said he had taken the child into the veld to "offer him to God"

It is alleged that the suspect returned home later and just sat down on a chair, emotionless, his hands and clothes still covered in blood.

"He didn't try to run away. He just sat there and told us not to worry about Thabang anymore," a family member said.

The mother of the late toddler Thandi Ngobeni, 24, is still in shock and struggling to come to terms. After undergoing troubles they could not resolve, Thabang and Thandi separated some time ago, but are still legally married.

"How it could have happened. I do not know what got into him,” said a traumatised Ngobeni. “I was so shocked, I did not know what to say or do. All I want is closure.”

According to family members Thabang apparently took Mohau into a veld near the informal settlement on Bremer Street where the toddler was physically assaulted and stabbed multiple times.

On that fateful day, Thandi was called shortly after 16:00 by her sister and a friend to tell her that something awful had happened to her son.

Although she wanted to go to the settlement where Mohau lived with his father and grandparents, her brother advised against it because he feared for her safety.

It was around 18:00 when a family friend told her that Thabang had killed their son.
Thandi felt at that stage like she wanted to cry, but could not due to the numbness and sheer disbelief she was experiencing.

She was also infuriated because she thought more could have been done to save Mohau.

“One question keeps going through my mind over and over again: ‘Why?’” Thandi said.

Thabang Ngobeni appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on 4 November where he pleaded guilty to murdering his son.

He is set to appear in court again on 11 November to sign his confession statement so that sentencing can commence.
