Thank you for your message,Im pleased to see that there is at least a few people out here who understand what A is undergoing.
The transformation is usually like that especially when he is newly bornagain. He is trying to cut off anything that would make him fall back to his old sinful self. You just have to support him and make him see you from another angle by supporting him. Give your life to Christ and start going to church. Become a worker and you start relating with him by using the Scriptures. Do not fake it. You both talk about the Bible, share Christian journals, talk about sermons, pray together and you start living a godly life. You would experience a new thing

Your friend have been falling in love with women of easy virtues. Under one month, he laid them. Then discovers that they are love peddlers, hence the disgust and relationship breaks. Your friend needs to find that girl that would give him tough time. The kind of girl he attracts has alot do with his personality

@AnnaOyibo

Even if mr.A is born again, he still has to marry. The issue mr.A has is cohabitation, premarital sex especially when he is now born again. He has done that with you and peradventure if he is to marry you today, you both have to face the marriage committee of the church and they will ask both of you some few questions like have you had sex before, are you cohabiting etc the point is, it is not that he does not love you but he is in a dilemma. He asked for friendship because he wants a clean slate. Give him a break. What you can do now is to find out the branch of RCCG he goes to, try and attend there. Give your life to Christ and start by being a worker in the church. But of cause, the issue with your work and relocating back to Britain

What are the foreign wives doing right?
not all foreign wives are doing it right, not all Nigerian wives are doing it right. The proportions are just different and it as alot to do with family background, ideals, beliefs. So looking at it from the inner value, the first point is marry your bone of your bone, marry your better half. People need to spend time preparing for marriage rather than wedding

not advisable, sorry very good. Oh know, I don't think it works. It causes trouble, may be it might work? what if it does not work?
@op, whatever floats your boat. Marriage A, different from B, C,D, E. What works for your marriage might not work for others. That is what we term as "GRACE"

" but with the foreign wives, their balls shrink! Such men live by schedule." - This part of the article got me laughing out loud. If you want Nigerian men to start treating Nigerian women the way they treat their foreign white skinned wives, then I think you need to take a cue from our oyinbo wives. You need to learn what they are doing Right.

If Nigerian women don't give it all, Nigerian men would go extinct for Nigerian women to marry except you want to be his play toy.

Another factor is in Nigeria, marriage is considered to some extent has being between two families rather than the norm in Western countries which is between two people. You are trying to carry the baggage of your immediate family as a Nigerian man, you are also thinking about your in laws who thinks, you are making big money
in America. So marrying a white woman cuts off those links. That's what I think and that's what I know, I would have written more deep deep about Nigerian marriages/weddings from a different perspective for you to understand somethings but let's leave it here for now.

WHAT!!!! I hope you are kidding... tongue
why would I be kidding about such? except you don't live in Nigeria and probably you have been westernized tongue our grand mothers do such to kids who do not just want to eat. A child/baby/toddler that does not eat as he/she use to eat gets that treatment especially when they are sick and they have to take medications. You cant give baby medicine on empty stomach in fact some matrons in hospital can do the force feeding stuff to babies. About 2months ago my friend fed his last Baby because he was sick, always crying refused breast milk. In fact, I was amazed he could do that. Not that I'm asking you to do that to your baby cuz different rules applies to different situations. A true family man/woman in Nigeria can relate to what I just typed because either in one way or the other they've done it or seen it before.

@op, do it the old school way cheesy force-feed her or get someone to do it. The food should be pap or cerelac or something liquid. You put her on your laps, use two fingers to close her nose, make sure she starts breathing with her mouth, then you pour the content in her mouth. If she wanna breath, she has to swallow the content in her mouth. She will struggle with you o but you have to hold her tight. When she swallows the content in her mouth. Release hand from nose, blow her fresh air. Continue till you finish feeding
cheesy those are methods that have proven to be effective for stubborn children

Religion / The Lord's Prayer "Forgive Us Our Trespasses." Where did That Come From? by bennyrazz: 11:00pm On Dec 19, 2015

Have you ever noticed when praying the Lord's Prayer aloud that everybody does good until you get to the line "forgive us our..."?
At that point in the prayer cacophony breaks out as some people say "debts" and others say "trespasses."
The other day I got curious about that and went in search of the translations that render this differently. I started with the NIV:
NIV:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors...

Okay, so the NIV has "debts." So I went on to look at other translations. And guess what? There is almost universal agreement among the major translations, all having "debts" like the NIV:
ESV, ASV, NASV, KJV, NRSV, NJ:
our debts...our debtors.

To be sure, some more modern, dynamic and contemporary translations have "sins" or "wrongs." But none of these, along with the more established translations, have "trespasses."
So that left me scratching my head. Where in the world did "trespasses" come from?
Given that I use the Book of Common Prayer I knew it had "trespasses." So my hunch was that "forgive us our trespasses" came from the BCP rather than from the bible translations. I'm using the 1979 BCP. But just to make sure I went back to the 1549 edition, the very first BCP. And sure enough, "forgive us our trespasses" is there:

Book of Common Prayer (1549):
OURE father, whiche arte in heaven, hallowed by thy name. Thy kyngdom come. Thy wyll be done in earth as it is in heaven. Geve us this daye oure dayly bread. And forgeve us oure trespasses, as we forgeve them that trespasse agaynst us. And leade us not into temptacion. But deliver us from evell. Amen.

But that raises another question. Where did the 1549 BCP come up with this translation? Recall, the Authorized (King James) Version didn't appear until 1611.
After some sleuthing I learned that the 1549 edition of the BCP used the
Tyndale Bible (1526). And checking the Tyndale Bible I think we find the origin of "forgive us our trespasses":
Tyndale Bible (1526):
And forgeve vs oure treaspases eve as we forgeve oure trespacers.

In short, from the KJV onward the translation of Matthew 6.12 has gone with "debts." But the 1526 Tyndale Bible had it as "trespasses." This translation was used in the 1549 Book of Common Prayer and is preserved in the BCP to the present day.
It's a Tyndale vs. King James thing.
And thus the cacophony in our churches.

Religion / Re: Renouncing My Christian Faith by bennyrazz: 11:14am On Dec 19, 2015
@Millerzs, stop lamenting. What are you bickering about, money is not your problem, then what is your problem? husband? or you want to have everything all to yourself? in every situation give thanks for the little you have. Try and visit prisons, visit emergency wards of hospitals, visit orphanages then you would actually have a change of mind. Contemplating suicide is the plan of the devil, renouncing your faith is also his plan.

God has a plan and a purpose for everyone on earth and you need to find out what is his plan for your life. Are you looking at the successes of people around you while you are at ground zero? stop doing that, look into your inner mind, work on your self.
Yes, you are praying & fasting, others are getting testimony while you are not, are you age mates? where you born on the same day? are you grace mates?

Gold only becomes gold when it passes through fire. You need to change your mindset, you need to change your prayers and your visions. You need to stop being selfish. Stop praying a prayer of Me, me me oh Lord, Stop praying a prayer of God give me this, give me that, stop praying a prayer of God I want this, I want that. Start praying a prayer of God, what do you want me to do for you on earth, start praying for others, take your self out of the picture in your prayers. Start investing your time and money in things that promotes the kingdom of God on earth.

Remember, "seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you"

really I don't know how some people think. Your wife gave you a list without price because she knows if she puts the price there, you would doubt her because of your financial stringency. Every reasonable woman should know the prices of things that are needed in her home. So @ Norad , kindly go to the market and find out prices of those things and you can take it a step further by buying those stuffs yourself or invite her to join you.

@op, since you committed adultery and your wife committed same. You both are equals and there is no reason to divorce her here. The thing is, you both need to stop extramarital affairs as it can lead both of you to doom. If you contract STI or STD from outside, you infect your partner with it. I guess your major fear now is your tradition the hypocrisy of your tradition is that, it allowed you to cheat but it does not allow the wife because of consequences. Now you married her without telling her about your tradition which I think is quite unfair cuz now she has gone outside and you can't come to terms and explain what your culture says. Although I don't believe in traditions because the only tradition that I know is the tradition of Jesus Christ. well if you go ahead to inform your parents about your wife's infidelity due to tradition, do not forget to include yourself too.
