Religion / Stephen Oni: Buhari Should Not Contest 2019 Election - Says Anglican Bishop by Beress(m): 7:42am On Sep 17, 2018 |
Peter Dada, Akure The Bishop of the Diocese of Ondo , Church of Nigeria ( Anglican Communion ) Stephen Oni , has said the nation needed a young and visionary person to become the next President of the country and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to drop his re -election bid in 2019. He lamented that some politicians in Nigeria had overstayed their time in office and refused to leave the political offices for the younger generation , identifying the trend as one of the problems the country was facing. Bishop Oni stated this at the order of service for the investiture and installation of a new chancellor and other officials of the Cathedral Church of St Stephen , Oke -Aluko , Ondo , Ondo State . At the ceremony, a Federal High Court judge , Justice Obayomi Taiwo , was invested as the Chancellor ; Mr Ayodele Akintunde ( SAN ) , as the Deputy Chancellor ; while Mrs Yejide Ogundipe and Mr Olu Adenodi were reappointed as registrar and deputy registrar respectively. In his charge , titled , ‘Responsibility , not title ,’ the cleric lamented the recycling of old politicians in power at all levels of government in the country , saying politicians go to any length to perpetuate themselves in power . He said , “They want to die in office . No wonder , people have thrown caution into the air , we could see impunity everywhere . Worthy legacy is not there , we are only recycling rust brains , they will come back again with their pictures when they give you N 1, 000 with the popular chant to ‘vote and cook soup'." “I don ’t expect any 75 to 80 years old still in government , what are they doing there ? When will they give their children a place ? The age of youthfulness is between 25 , 30 and 40 ; who will want to employ in a bank a 75 -year - old man? “Are we now saying a 75 -year - old should go to the National Assembly, what are they doing there ? We need young people who have aspirations and highly adventurous . So , let them allow them in.” On President Buhari intention to contest next year’ s election , he said , “He has his right to contest but my advice for him , if he will do it well , he should go home joyfully". https://punchng.com/buhari-should-not-contest-2019-election-says-anglican-bishop/ 7 Likes

President Muhammadu Buhari has lambasted HSBC for saying his second term would stunt the economy. HSBC Bank Plc is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. The financial institution had in a recent report predicted that President Buhari will lose the 2019 presidential election. SEARCH Daily Post Nigeria NEWS Stop predicting my defeat, return Abacha loot – Buhari blasts HSBC Published on September 15, 2018 By Wale Odunsi President Muhammadu Buhari has lambasted HSBC for saying his second term would stunt the economy. HSBC Bank Plc is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. The financial institution had in a recent report predicted that President Buhari will lose the 2019 presidential election. A statement on Saturday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, said “a bank that soiled its hand with ‘‘milions of US dollars yet-to-be-recovered Abacha loot and continued until a few months ago to shield the stolen funds of one of the leaders of the Nigerian Senate has no moral right whatsoever to project that a “second term for Mr. Buhari raises the risk of limited economic progress and further fiscal deterioration.” He stated: “We ask them to heed President Buhari’s constant refrain: return our stolen assets, then see how well we will do. “From the facts available to our investigation agencies, HSBC’s put down on President Buhari is no more than an expression of frustration over the administration’s measures put in place which has abolished grand corruption, the type which this bank thrives on in many countries. "They may also just be out to discredit the President out of the fear of sanctions and fines following the national assets that are stolen. “With the coming of President Buhari, it is not a secret that corruption, corrupt individuals, banks and other corporate entities that aided corrupt practices are under investigation for various offenses. “For many of them, including their friends in the media, they would rather have President Buhari out of their way, for business as usual to return. "Our investigation agencies believe that HSBC had laundered more than USD 100,000,000 for the late General Sani Abacha in Jersey, Paris, London and Geneva. “Among these accounts on the records are: AC: S-104460 HSBC Fund Admin Ltd. Jersey ($12,000,000); AC 37060762 HSBC Life (Europe), U.K ($20,000,000) and AC: 38175076 HSBC Bank Plc. U.K ($1,600,000). “The bank is also suspected in the laundering of proceeds of corruption involving more than 50 other Nigerians, including a serving Senator as earlier indicated. "In a book, “Secrecy World: Inside the Panama Papers Investigation”, published in 2017, Jack Bernstein told the story of global money laundering highlighting the unenviable place of the HSBC. “This is a bank that states and federal authorities in the U.S. forced to pay $1.92 billion to settle charges of money laundering; fined $1.2 billion in Hong Kong for “systemic deficiencies” in bond sales and was made to pay $100 million in currency rigging settlement as reported by The Telegraph of 18th January, 2018 http://dailypost.ng/2018/09/15/stop-predicting-defeat-return-abacha-loot-buhari-blasts-hsbc/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter&utm_medium=feednews&/?utm_source=operamini&utm_campaign=operamini_feednews |

Politics / Atiku Is The Best Man For PDP Ticket by Beress(m): 4:53pm On Sep 10, 2018 |
I have been able to observe some of the political happenings so far especially within the Peoples Democratic Party and have come to the conclusion that Atiku remains the best option for PDP to tackle Buhari. Let's take a glance at some of the key aspirants in PDP: Atiku Abubaka; Bukola Saraki; Musa Kwankwaso; Sule Lamido; David Mark; Ibrahim Dankwambo; Ahmed Makarfi; among others! Taking a look at these names, if we really wants to be sincere with ourselves, we all know that out of all them, only two of them can give Buhari a challenge in the core North, and these are Atiku & Kwankwaso... This is a fact that is visible to the blind! Of course we all know that only the core North can not determine who becomes the next President, that will make us to also take a look at the chances of these aspirants in the South and Middle Belt. Based on political facts, Atiku; Saraki and probably David Mark will emerge the leading aspirants as far as these parts of the country (that is, South & Middle Belt) are concerned. From this, Atiku therefore becomes the only candidate that have the most nationwide popularity and acceptance. More so, of all the PDP aspirants, only Atiku have something to loss if he did not emerge the flag bearer. Why? The reason is simple, all other aspirants can be given appointments and some go back to the Senate. But Atiku can not stoop so low to accepting any appointment let alone go to the Senate. With this few words of mine, I believe PDP would do the needful by giving Atiku their ticket as he is the best man for the job! gasparpisciotta: You are wise! But I guess even if Atiku and Kwankwanso are not favoured at the primaries, they obviously have no second choice than to support who ever immerge as the PDP candidate. Just like in 2015 when they all supported Buhari after losing the APC primaries. To them, they will believe that it is better for PDP to win... simply because Buhari may end up dealing with them if he wins second term 4 Likes 1 Share |
