ewilusi:Oga, it is TRV-Temporary Residence Visa..You kept writing TVR, na decoder?lol..Anyway, try and pay ur fees cos they might ask u at POE, if u intend to pay when u get there, u might need to show them u have ur funds by way of SOA. Yea ur school needs ur permit for enrolment, so u will do that when u start ur orientation and all. U just need to carry a few dollars if u can get to sort out ur movement in the city and accomodation. Ur ATM should come handy. Btw what school are you heading to? |

justwise:Did u say whatsapp group will kill this thread? I don't think so. As long as information is sustained here, traffic will continue. With sb answering questions and providing answers, traffic will continue. I believe no one is indispensable here as u said but please let's be careful not to be ungrateful. If we don't appreciate those here before, others might be relunctant to take over. Anyone who has been following this thread can lead and answer questions. @justwise, am sure u know a lot on this thread by virtue of following and u can answer questions bt maybe time won't permit u. So let's appreciate he that has given his time biko! 4 Likes |

@esteechris...What did u fill on ur form as tuition, funds available for stay? I am very optimistic on ur 2nd application though. If u really wanna go to that institution pls don't change. Just re-apply and have ur admission deferred(that is if the expiry date is past) but if not just apply with it again. 1 Like |

idolda:Since it has coop then you can go for it as you will be required to gain some work experience on canadian soil, and u are already having a backup plan which is good. If you intend to further on Phd, make sure you communicate your school of your intentions, they will be in the best position to advise you if it will be possible. |

linaluv:Why is he not going for a PGD? If his university results can get him a PGD, its better. If he decides to do Undergraduate he has a lot to do in explaining the large academic gaps, and his academic standing might be in doubt since he finished O level a longtime. His employment can help explain what he has been doing also to his advantage. That being said 17-24 is the likely ages for most undergraduates. 1 Like |

Been very busy of late. Am sorry if I didn't respond to your mentions here. I will get back to u. Just to modify abit of the post sb wrote here abt the success rates of different categories of scholars. With my experience with reading almost all the parts of this Travelling to Canada thread and with interactions with people out of this thread and my reasearch also. I would like to add my 2cents. For PhD applicants- TRV success rate is 99% on first trial.I.e their first application. Doesn't matter if they haven't travelled outta the country before. PhD candidates are usually of high academic standing and most get funding from Canadian institutions. Hence there is little to worry about financially. Canada supports research a lot and we can see this by how they treat PhD students with good opportunities to remain even after their programs. Master's Applicants-These set of people have a 99% success rate on TRV application on their second trial.I.e applying the second time after a previous denial. A lot get it on their first though when every other thing in the application is perfect enough. Especially applicants on a high academic standing with scholarships from Canada. Research based Masters is a path to further studies in obtaining a PhD. So these guys are potential PhD students. Course based Masters too have favorable success if financial standing is right. PGD applicants- These set of people usually have a 99% rate on their 3rd trial.I.e applying the 3rd time after subsequent denials. This is after all loopholes have been covered and application is packaged well. A very few people in this category get it the first time. This is not to say they had the most packaged application. But if your application is well packaged, you stand a chance to get ur TRV. BSc/Diploma- These set have a 99% success rate on their 2nd trial if their age, program, sponsors(parents) are right. Paying tuition for them seem like an advantage to get TRV becos they are perceived as dependants and might not be able to fend for themselves. U can correct me if I am wrong. Comments are welcome. Cheers! 6 Likes |

MideAtkins:Sure it will. Try and explain how u got the funds since u aren't working. It could have been transferred from ur sponsor or parents. Was it just 'personal assets' only that was ticked? What of 'purpose of visit'? Try and write a convincing SOP too.Your inheritance docs is definitely a tie to ur home country. 1 Like |

MideAtkins:You are required to attach a prrof that medicals was done within the last 12 months. Your case is not 'upfront' medicals. You have done medicals, u just need to upload a proof to CIC on ur application. Even if it is from previous rejected app..So mind the language u use when u contact the hospital.U simply need a proof of medicals done period and not that u want to do upfront.CIC will locate ur file in their servers and tie it to your new application or anyhow they like it done. Cheers! |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by berexio1: 8:13am On Nov 26, 2015 |
MideAtkins:1. You have to get in touch with ur clinic where u did the medicals, ask them for a proof that medicals was done. A. Proof is what you need to show CIC, even though it is the one used for previous rejected application. They could email it to you. The thing with this medicals centres is they are too busy and find it so hard to go dig up ur file as they are always attending to new people. Am not surprised sb said they put a charge of 14k to transfer ur result and to generate a new IME. This for me is should be a service they should render free as it doesn't cost them anything. So find out from the hospital. 2. What's ur employment history like from when you left school? Any gaps? Show employment letters, payslip, and personal SOA to show u have been working. Also a future employment letter could suffice which could help portray the fact that you are tied to your country. Add more to ur document as u re-apply. |

MideAtkins:1. Yes u can. Medicals is valid for a year. You just submit the medical sheet given to u after u did ur medicals that contains ur IME number and other pertinent information. CIC will use that to locate ur medicals on their server. 2.Let's have a look at ur profile, what u submitted and all in order to advise u better. Adding ur property document and statement of account is a plus and will work to ur advantage. You might want to keep ur SOA up to 1million naira if u can. Cheers! |

Naykay:Upfront medicals is done before u submit ur application and included as proof for having satisfied the medical requirement.Once ur application is submitted, u can't do anything about it any longer, u can't send documents except CIC asks u to...At this pointn u can only wait for CIC instruction to go do ur medicals.. |
