Wow, you are going for a heavy weight 46k CAD program..

Really, its a bit tight down there due to constraints on liquidity.

If you get Insufficient fund ticked, it means your sponsor's fund was not enough from CIC calculation based on your fees and upkeep. Did u include ursef as a co-sponsor, so they could assume you are taking up part of the bills? Your hubby funds too didn't reflect much. Current balances are very important plus time deposits like fixed deposits that is easy to liquidate. Since your mum has 1.5m plus 6m now, she shud try to boost the account a bit more. Ur fees alone is over 7m. Then if that is settled u could work on explaining those mutual benefit stuff to them, am sure they have no idea or better still liquidate if u can and fix or try treasury bills!

I check my account and saw that I was delayed due to the following reasons:
Insufficient financial resources
Personal assets and financial status
Is that all that was ticked? Let the house know abit abt ur profile. I think your case is simple..Just address the concerns on finance and close every other loopholes..

Cheers!

My people,i have been reading and reading here from the last thread. I am packaging my application for masters. i intend to apply to 4 schools for Sept 2016 entry. i understand its wiser to apply to more than one school from what i read here. Hopefully i should get admission. My bigger concern is with TRV i think.

THis is my profile
age 41
undergratduatedegree LL.B 1999
grade 2.1
overall best graduand prize in my graduating class and a few other prizes
professional qualification , B.L (second class upper) 2000
Been working mostly since then: 2001 to 2002-nysc law practise
2002-2011 April - banking
2011-2013 March -home affairs issues/pregnancy/nursing mother
2013-date -admin staff in manufacturing company.
Cash set aside for LLM 6.5m
attachment to Nigeria- my daughter and land

Can anyone comment on chances of getting TRV? I need some encouragement i think.

I am particularly concerned because of age, everyone here seems to be younger, infact far younger. e be like say na me old pass(smiling)

I was actually admitted in U of T as far back as 2001 and also 2002 but could not run d programme because i did not have enough money and was unable to get the schorlarship i sourced for then. so since than i have been working, home resposibilities crept in on me and i kept postponing for one reason or another till now. But i have always desired to go to canada and run my masters programme.

please look into your crystall balls and tell me whats ahead as per TRV
or better still those who have any information that may be helpfull or encouraging to me specifically, pls speak to me.

Sincerely yours.

My dear, there is no age limitation to acquiring a degree so long as u desire it. You have enough reasons to justify the long wait, just put together ur SOP with some of the reasons highlighted here and some more of ur genuine intention to further on the course..

You have what it takes now to study overseas, ur fund and all. So go ahead!

All the best!

Yeah I have mixed views about the boosting your account advice. If you do it, you have to be very careful so that it isn't viewed as money lodgement. @berexio1, how did you fix your issue? Did you just dump money into your account in one fell swoop?

In my case because I had more than one account,I simply showed my other accounts and effected a transfer from them..U can have money paid to ur other account and transfer to the one u wanna use..U can explain that u have funds in different accounts.. Hope this helps..

I submitted a pension savings account of about 1.5m naira but no personal savings account because d personal business I do is on a small scale for now.
I submitted my husbands c of o
And my sponsors soa was 35million naira and over 500,000 pounds for his coy in UK.
I am in my late 30's and have worked for about 8yrs since after graduating.
It is a well known fact that u don't have access to ur pension account and this doesn't serve as liquid asset for u. So get ur personal savings to reflect that sum or more and close other loopholes, I don't know much of ur case!

Hmm... How did you reach the conclusion of $10k CAD? Did you infer this from your GCMS? If so, could you share a snapshot of this section of your GCMS (or a similar GCMS).

And how does this address Purpose of Visit?

Lol..they prolly use it as a rough guide to check liquid asset for pple who had worked and have limited savings in their account..What I said here is like an estimate, if u av been following express entry, u will understand that they expect a single applicant to have abt $12k CAD or so as POF, for them this is sufficient..It is not expressly written on my gcms bt it was stated that my funds are limited..

One more thing, purpose of visit will always be questioned if ur finances or someother stuff aint right..My purpose of visit wasn't the issue even though it was ticked, bt from my gcms, they were not satisfied based on my funds that I am a BF student. Btw.UG and Masters for me are on the same Chemical engrg path.So each person's case is also important

could d PGD be the issue?
I intend submitting document of a land in my name and also beef up my SOA to #1million. Will that be good to go and can I reapply by nxtweek with those changes made?
PGD is not the issue bro..Have the equivalence of $CAD10k in ur personal account plus any landed prop if u can. I have seen several cases like urs including my own very case..So am talking out of experience. You can request for ur gcms note just to confirm what I am telling u now

Hello,
So I have been following this thread since part 8 (after I submitted my application) but never commented. I just want to share my journey in order to encourage someone here.

Application submitted online 6th July (Postgraduate Executive Course)
Biometrics same day 6th July
Medical request 17th September
Medical done 28th September (all the public holidays affected me)
Took IOM one week to send it!
Passport Request 7th October
Passport submitted 8th October
TRV 12th October
Correspondence letter 13th October

I just want to say keep the faith and don't be discouraged, a lot of people who applied after me got their TRV before me but I chose to trust God. My application was for fall 2015 but I have deferred to Winter 2016.

Keep the faith!

Congrats!

So everyone is now spamming the thread looking for who applied same day as they did? Didn't u guys see how it was done in the past? Most folks here now hoard info abt their application. Well this house used to be more united than this with each one giving out info freely, but when pple hide stuff, information never passes and the aim of being here is defeated..

I know a lot of folks who have applied and can't contribute to knowledge sharing here. Well information will only be scarce...Goodluck!

To d gurus in the house. Do you need to submit your passport copy when applying for online route. I guess the consulate will request for it if they want to grant your permit.

I have an important trip to make and i dont want my passport to get stuck with the consulate for over 2 months.

Please advise.

Thanks
Online route don't hold on to ur passport until they request it for abt a week to issuance of ur visa. That's one of its many benefits. So u are good!

No, having a science background does not require you to stick to science course work for PG. You can go for MSc in Engineering if you want. All you need is to be able to explain in your SOP to the admissions committee what synergies you see between your science undergrad and proposed research area in the engineering course that you use.

In fact, it is extremely common for people with science BSc to do MSc in a related engineering field. Lots of physics BSc people do MSc in several engineering areas. Lots of chemistry BSc people do their research MSc in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, etc. And the list goes on and on. There are large overlaps between several scientific fields and engineering, don't let the department boundaries limit your research interests, so long as you can justify it. These days a lot of research is interdisciplinary and you should leverage that.
I agree with the examples cited....Sometimes the departmental requirements and the research areas are a factor to whether u have that leverage to exploit..

Okay,thanks.
My research interests makes me go for graduate study in engineering as I have a science background, does my sop have to be extremely strong
Kindly reply.
U have a science background? And ur going for MSc in Engineering? I don't really get u well bro. Kindly be specific abt what u studied at UG and what u intend to study at PG

And for the records, having a science background would require u to stick to a science course of work for PG. Research MSc are more intense and require thesis. In addition to a few course work, which u will write in order to be awarded ur degree with thorough supervision during ur research.Sometimes evidence of previous research at UG level will demonstrate how adequate u fit-in to the program. So yes SOP can talk abt all that!

@berexio1....I have a good CGPA but i don't have a relevant experience in that field. I have been in an IT and Software field since i finished my BSC but i see myself as been able to come up with a reliable SOP.

What do you see about my chance now?

You stand a chance, like I said u need to mail ur program coordinator to get their opinion. No be me go give u admissions..so do that bro!

i study systems engineering in my undergraduate level, how easy is it for me to apply for MSC in chemical enginerring and be admitted.

I will be glad if you or any other guys in the house can give me answer to this questing bothering me.
It shouldn't be a problem since u av an engineering background,u will just av some more chemical engineering courses injected into ur course work. U should mail ur program coordinator to tell what ur chances are to be accepted cos a lot of considerations are done with respect to CGPA, relevant work experiences and ur statement of purpose..

Hello my great guys, please which of the season indicate january admission application.

Fall, Summer and Winter

I have battle so long with this, i don't want to make any mistake as i will love to put in for a january admission and the school said there january application closes October ......

I believe Spring should indicate January but nothing like Spring admission in the application portal.

Thanks as i Anticipated u guys response
January admissions is Winter..lol. And when the school says their deadline is October, it means all your document should reach them before the date in October if u intend to get admissions for January(winter) intake.

Spring should be around May,Summer follows shortly and then Fall(September)

No supervisor needed. I am going for a course-based program.I hope u know the difference btw research-based and course based masters..The later don't require a supervisor. If you complete all that is required, u should get ur admission under 3weeks

@standupguy..Its good u ordered the gcms. And from the gcms,CIC even keeps track of the number of refusals. Now I have a feeling that its thesame person that worked on ur previous refusals that the file goes to.

Dat 8yrs thing na the koko....was it like that in ur 2 previous app? That is a great error cos they might just think u won't be able to complete school and that's irrespective of whether u got admissions or not.

And again, was it really necessary to state that u will be living with ur sis? Many pple didn't show proof of accommodation neither did they pay for any and got TRV. Some info like this is not advised at all especially if ur funds are in order just like urs is...

I know u are already looking into Australia, bt should u wanna try again. Fix this!

Cheers!

I will like to know if anyone is currently studying at the university of waterloo? secondly, can one apply for study permit in any African country (if already a temporary resident like a student). if its possible to apply, do one need to state on SOP why going to Canada to study if already a student as above
your reply will be appreciated.

course based
Most coursed-based M.Eng don't need to get an adviser..I haven't heard or even read of any school that require that..For cours-based student, u are usually assigned an academic cordinator and that is when u get in as a student, and not required to get admission. For ur course, a lot of schools are at ur disposal....just visit google
