Mehn...to tell you guys the truth this PGD/Masters debate only live in Nigeria and on Nairaland. Honestly there is no such discrimination here as we would normally have the Polytechnic vs University battle for supremacy.. Your boss here in Canada is most likely to be a high school finisher and with your masters you work under him. Most jobs will usually have minimum requirement on o level. So quit this stuff. Alot of Indians get admitted on this PGD program as well, so why do they sail through? This issue shouldnt be Masters/PGD rather it should be about Nigerians and having you guys sail through the process without much stress and less denials...... I believe in objectivity...Present reasonable arguments if you feel your applications are not fairly treated but stop dividing yourself...Whether masters/pgd all na study!!! Peace!!! Hello Everyone, Congratulations to all those who got their TRV and are coming to Canada this fall. And to those who were denied, all hope is not lost. You can read my previous posts from part 9 of how I was denied and refired as well. There are more applicants for PGC/PGD programs from Nigeria than masters or Phd. This thread is a sample proof of that fact and that reflects the approval rates for Phd, Masters and PGD. But nevertheless a good application will scale through the second time.. I noticed many people here need help in applying for GCMS file. If you require your GCMS, feel free to message me and I will be able to apply for you here in Canada. Specially welcome all those coming to Ontario particularly Toronto and its environs. And if you happen to be coming to the University of Waterloo and you need information to get around, I am also willing to help. Enjoy! Berexio! 18 Likes |

Good to be back here once in a while to read comments. Even though I needed not to go through every comment here since the last time I checked, I still made efforts to sieve through some contributions here. I just felt I might still get some useful info and update on what I already know or more likely to see if there is this one question or questions that were left unanswered that I needed to help with. I will quickly drop 5 steps to getting your admission and visa approved 1.Needless to say, your first ingredient for success is information. If you don't know how to get informed and stay informed, you won't make much progress trying to land that admissions or visa talkless of being successful when you eventually get into Canada.SO stay on nairaland, match information with information, screen every info cos you won't always get them right here also. For eg. I had sleepless nights during my information gathering stages here on nairaland, I literally read through all the parts. I was looking for something relevant in the midst of several irrelevant discussions. And for those who digress, please try to stay within track for someone like me who probably is doing what I did. I matched all info with what i read on CIC site, argued with close friends, visited some visa agents to know if they truly do anything different. i found out they dont because I ended up giving them some more information that they weren't even aware of;some of which I got from here. 2. Package smartly: I didn't say you should lie but if your truth cannot be substantiated. It is not worth it. Leave it out.Be able to backup whatever you claim. For Eg. I have a friend of mine who graduated with a 2.1 and applied to the same school-University of Waterloo. He quoted he had a masters from unilag but didn't finish at unilag and couldn't get his certificate nor transcript. Even though he submitted his undergrad degree cert and was issued conditional admissions, he didn't get the unconditional admission finally because he couldn't supply the Unilag masters transcript. He lost out on the school because once you submit your application you cannot edit it anymore and it will remain in their file forever or maybe till their system crash..lol..So Apply "What ifs" and make alternatives for improvements. 3. Be consistent: If you want to be a liar, you better make it your truth. Consistency pays, your first application says you were unemployed, the second application says you were employed some months back before the first application. Third application says you will like to get a job after you finish studies in canada and fourth says you will return home to better your country. You can as well enrol on a charity donation to CIC and forget about applying and wasting paper. lol. These guys can put 2 and 2 together and know your purpose of wanting to leave your country. 4. Be original: I see people copy formats and use. The format should only be a guide. You need to touch that creative part of you and bring it to life. You can do a very appealing application. Get the juices, get the seasonings, water the meat, simmer a bit and the taste will be just great! 5. Lastly, give back. Help people answer questions or solve their problems. You achieve 2 things by doing this. You become better at what you do and you affect the life you helped. You open doors for yourself. I have told you how I helped people package their applications for free while I was still about to apply and they got their visas. Some replicated with voluntary money gifts. It feels so great knowing you contributed towards the success of others. Cheers! And stay tuned for more. Berexio1 11 Likes 3 Shares |

ChristineC:What does he have to show for the little employment? He can get the company to draft something like an Introductory letter and even payslip no matter how liitle he is earning. Small companies in naija usually dont give this as u said bt he has to demand for it, that is the only way to prove. If he is an enterpreneur or is involved in his father's business, I am sure it is quite easy to provide documents relating to this. It doesnt have to relate to what he studied but he must show his line of direction with regards to studying and how he intends to use the knowledge gained. For E.g a line in his SOP can read thus: Even though I worked hard with my Dad for so many years to establish his business and i am already a professional at it, I still find myself yearning deeply for a career in Pharmacy, to get back on track I have to get back to school to keep abreast with recent developments. Pharmacy is my passion and I would be much happier practising it. Enjoy! 12 Likes |

efedhomav:1. Worry not about Travel history. It is usually served amongst other reasons for those who are still virgins..lol (PP virgin) 2.If u don't have any family in Canada, worry not about this too. The point here is to ensure your ties in Nigeria is well represented whether they are assets I.e both material, financial and human 3. The VO simply isn't convinced that you will return after ur studies. So even tho ur program is 2yrs, he is skeptical..You have to show him by way of documents and also statement of purpose that you know what you want from the intended study and how it will benefit ur home country when you return. 4. He isn't convinced you are even going to study..Same reasons above. Did u show proof of ur tuition payment? 5. Personal asset refers to your asset and not ur sponsor's. The VO feels you should have something to show for ur employment whether it is property or cash. When u re-apply, do fill ur UCI number. This indicates u have previously applied. Try to be consistent also. Use any other identity card for your Dad. His company card or National Id can suffice U can do an affidavit of support with ur dad stating he is taking care of the expenses. Enjoy! 6 Likes 4 Shares |
