I'm sure that if your favourite (Atiku) becomes the president, you won't bother about him using ND money. And don't tell me about Intels, cos it's all oil money as well, else let him relocate it to Adamawa.

They compared between 2014 and 2017 in the article. Nobody made the claim or compared the period you just reviewed. And it was the same person that was president in 1999 and 2000. Obasanjo.

Is weed allowed this early in Nigeria?

Nigeria cannt present it GDP in dollars,,stil checkin dollar is nt our national currency..for comparism sake ,,previous trade bal in naira is compared with present bal of payment .
Apart from that, the argument by @DoTheNeedful is not valid. A weak Naira will have a negative effect on Imports while having a positive effect on Exports. So, the NET effect on trade balance should be negligible. As long as we are exporting more than we import, the trade balance will always be positive regardless whether it is presented in NGN, USD or Bitcoins.

Exchange rate in 2014 : 180
Exchange rate in 2017 : 360

trillion/180 = $5.55 billion in 2014
trillion/360 = $2.77 billion in 2017

It has reduced by nearly half, not increased. Assuming 1trillion was made in both periods.

Voodoo economics.
Exchange rate in 1999 - N22/$
Exchange rate in 2000 - N85/$

Trillion/22 = $45.5 billion in 1999
Trillion/85 = $11.7 billion in 2000

It reduced by 75% in just one year of PDP administration. Now, who is an expert in Voodoo Economics?

Itu Light in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, is basically 23 and a half hours every day, except if something is wrong with the transmission. Light hardly goes off for more than 30mins in a day.

Ask anybody and confirm!
This is true. A friend of mine who stays in Itu Road keeps bragging about this all the time. Says he has to put off his fridge most times because of "too much" light. One can only wish that more citizens get to enjoy this.
---
As for my area, I would say around 12-15 hours per day. One is almost guaranteed of sleeping with light everyday. This is a really marked improvement compared to 2 years ago.

Foreign Reserve are never shared to states, they are managed exclusively by the Federal Government through the CBN. What you are trying to refer to is the Excess Crude Account (ECA) which is different from the subject of discourse here.
Politics › Re: ‘Where Is The $65bn Obasanjo Left In Excess Crude Account?’ Amaechi Fires At GEJ by Bevista:
My research shows that OBJ left ~$42B in the reserves. This grew to ~$62B in September 2008, thanks to oil price hitting an ATH of $147/bbl in June 2008.
---
Unfortunately, the Global Financial Crisis had set in and oil price began a steady downtrend, getting as low as $38/bbl in 2009. It became imperative for the CBN to use part of the reserves to defend the Naira.
---
By the time late president Yar'Adua took Ill and was flown to Saudi Arabia in Nov 2009, the Reserves stood at ~$42B (avg oil price ~$75/bbl). By the time GEJ was sworn in as president in May 2010, the reserves had gone lower to ~$38B (avg oil price was $76/bbl). By Dec 2010, the reserves had gone even lower to ~$32B. By this time, the average oil price had gone up to ~$91/bbl. By the time GEJ left office in May 2015, the reserves stood at ~28B (avg oil price ~$50/bbl).
---
As at November 2017, the FR is standing at ~$35B (up by ~$7B). This not withstanding the fact that 2017 avg oil price is same as at 2015 avg price (~$50/bbl). When one considers that oil price initially went as low as $28/bbl in Jan 2016, then this feat becomes even more commendable.

The above figures are facts freely available on the Internet.

Politics › Re: Between #ENDSARS and #EndKillerHerdsmen which is more important? by Bevista: 1:07pm On Dec 12, 2017
Tbh, the #EndKillerHerdsmen should worry the society more than #EndSARS, due to the barbaric activities of this group. We are talking about scores of citizens losing their lives unlike the SARS situation where it is largely extortion or/and torture.
---
However, the reason why the #EndSARS campaign is gathering momentum is because most of the direct victims are social media class, so they can relate to the issue on a personal level and therefore help to promote the campaign. Contrast this with the herdsmen situation, where most of the victims are rural dwellers with no one to push the campaign on their behalf.

Thank you for having the courage to refuse to accede to their demands, and to insist on seeing the whole thing through to the end. Thank you for not giving in to their extortion. Thank you for foiling their plans to defraud you.

If only more people would stand up for what is right, and expose corrupt practices wherever they find it, a lot of things would change. It could take time, but it would make a difference. The sad thing is that people prefer to just fall in line with the unscrupulous demands made by these corrupt officials, and then they run to social media to lament about how bad the country has become. It is sad....
Sad part is that those that are victims in one circumstance becomes the villain in another circumstances, thereby perpetuating the vicious cycle.

Politics › Re: The King Makers: Political Clout In The South by Bevista:
SouthEastFacts:
I don't believe that.

I believe the national average fell to 49% because SE/SS were heavily undermined.

Ok check the stat again. In 2015 SW maintained the same turn out they had in 2011, Kebbi had 54.4% turnout while Zamfara 60% which were both more than the national average in 2011, in the same 2015, Boko Haram ravaged Borno, Yobe and Adamawa had average turn out of 41.7%.

So why is it that it is only in the SE and SS that their turn out fell from 66.9% to 37% and 67% to 57% respectively? It is not possible because those two regions are Jonathan's strongest holds.

Why didn't it fall in other parts of the country?
Fair enough. It might be difficult to come up with an accurate theory as to what was responsible for the low turnout in the SE in 2015.
---
The Igbos are very enterprising and independent folks. Is it that they do not take politics as serious as other parts of the country (They'd rather focus on business)? If so, then maybe those 2011 figures were just "cooked", but it became impossible in 2015 due to the card readers.
---
My question, then, would be - Is there any chance that the voter turnout in the SE will improve with some significant margin in 2019?

Politics › Re: The King Makers: Political Clout In The South by Bevista: 11:30pm On Dec 11, 2017
Brilliant analysis, I must say. Provides some real perspective to regional voting patterns. I, particularly, appreciate the fact that you left your partisanship for a moment and dealt with raw data/facts
---
However, I slightly disagree with your view that the low percentage votes witnessed in the SE was as result of mere low turnout. My opinion is that it was due to the use of card readers, which reduced incidence of rigging. Yes, there was rigging everywhere throughout the country, but once accreditation is done with card readers, you cannot rig figures more than what is registered on the card readers.
---
In terms of turnout, the SS was the only region that exceeded the national average and that was due to some purported faulty card readers in many parts, hence the resort to manual accreditation. The national average was approximately 45-55% which was consistent with most regions, except the SS.
---
Come 2019, the PDP will definitely sweep the SS/SE region, but if card readers are used in all parts such that the turnout is consistent with the national average, then the absolute numbers the PDP will get will be much lower than what they got in 2015.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Govt Sets Aside N5 Billion For Local Miners by Bevista: 11:10pm On Dec 11, 2017
omohayek:
This is just more cosmetic nonsense, designed to catch the media's attention and nothing more. Instead of such irrelevant tinkering, what would really make a difference to miners of all types is the enshrinement of private property rights over land and any resources found in or beneath it, but that will never happen as long as Nigeria's political elite remains obsessed with siphoning some of that gusher of Niger-Delta oil revenues (and here I include the Niger-Delta's own elite, who just want to replace the FG's claims to oil rents with their own, while themselves remaining opposed to their individual subjects having private rights to natural resources found on their land).
Well said. I couldn't agree more.
---
Unfortunately, the highlighted is beyond the executive as it is a constitutional matter. I had hoped that the current NASS members will use the recent constitution amendment opportunity to correct this anomaly, but alas, they voted against it. Makes me wonder who is really afraid of repealing the retrogressive Land Use Act .

Really? Think about it deeply and you'll realise that the Police is not the problem. You see - The SOCIETY is the problem! The police is merely a product of society.

If you doubt me, then tell me any sector in Nigeria that is not as corrupt and high-handed as the police. You won't find any, you know why? - because they are all products of society.
