Africans are animals. |
I supported this president wholeheartedly. But his tepid response to the fulani herdsmen killings has made me lost all regards I had for him. --- Regardless what he thinks (and I agree) he has achieved, the sanctity of human life is more important than anything else. I have come to the conclusion that the president is complicit in these killings. --- A guest on Channels TV this morning pointed out that 17 of the 19 security chiefs in the country are northerners. Now, if that is true, then it's really pathetic! |
dudebuck:Maybe, if you consider the context of that comment, you would understand that African countries were part of that. --- It was during a discussion on immigration reforms and DACA. Certain countries like Haiti, South Sudan, Somalia, etc have protected status in the US. These were the countries he was referring to as shithole and asking why America kept bringing people from there, instead of places like Norway (a predominantly white country). |
aolawale025:Considering that China is advancing its influence globally, a realignment of African countries away from US and towards China is only going to hurt US interest globally. Just yesterday, Trump cancelled his visit to UK (its number 1 ally) because he got reports that there was going to be massive protest on the streets against him. --- He has bungled the Israel - Palestinian peace talks. He is causing tension in the Iranian nuclear deal. The majority of the world is against Trump. Dude is mentally unstable and not fit for the office of US president. |
dudebuck:Your comment doesn't surprise me, neither is Trump's comments. --- When PMB made the 5% comment, most of you felt outraged (even though what he said was true). But here you are supporting racist slur (against your continent/race) just because it validates your prejudices. --- Regardless whether what he said was true or not, that was a very terrible and unpresidential to say. Same with PMB's 5% comment. |
chronique:Contrary to the impression your comment is trying to convey, Foreign Reserves are meant to facilitate international trade rather than direct government expenditure. --- The naira equivalent of the dollar revenue has already been handed out by CBN to government. The CBN keeps the dollars to manage our trade balance. |
seunmsg:I understand your concern regarding the exchange rate. However, monetary policies are a really tricky balancing act - if you move too much to one side then things begin to unravel on the other side. --- Reducing the exchange rate to N250 will simply make imports cheaper and thus increase demand for foreign items. This will lead to a steady depletion of the FR as the CBN tries to meet demand for $$$. Cheaper imports will also hurt local industries and businesses. --- Another dimension is that a N250/$ exchange rate will affect government revenue on all levels. When you consider that there's a new minimum wage in the horizon, then you can understand that governments at all levels need more revenue to meet their wage demands. |
sirfemoz:It's not just about leaders, but the entire citizenry. --- For instance, you'll observe that this post will not get any traction with a lot of folks. It will have very few views, comments and likes. But post a topic about some celeb or something bothering on tribal/religious bigotry and you find them converge like fleas in seconds. And these are the same people that will eventually become leaders. |
No where in the press statement was it stated categorically that government was not planning to increase pump price of PMS. |
In 2010, Dr. Dalhatu Sarki Tafida was the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK. GEJ appointed him as his campaign DG for the 2011 presidential elections. He combined the 2 roles without resigning his position as High Commissioner. --- A president also functions as president as well as a presidential candidate, without having to resign his position as president. --- I think the PDP is trying too hard to be alarming or outdo Lai Mohammed but unfortunately, they are failing miserably - criticising the ruling party on all things they were guilty of themselves. --- The president's nonchalant attitude towards herdsmen killings is making me reconsider my support for him, but the PDP just seems so not ready to earn my trust. |
Pure incompetence! --- Why wait for so long before making appointments, and when you finally do, you make so many at once....Who makes over 1000 appointments in one fell swoop? This is the reason for all the blunders in the recent board appointments. --- You wait for so long to appoint ministers and yet still cannot appoint top notch candidates for the job. So not impressed. |
coputa:You have a very short memory, then. |
Really? Who are they blaming for the sabotage? What a very petty attempt to get involved in partisan politics. A few days ago it was Ohaneze crying of conspiracy against the Igbos and now this. --- Why do prices of most stuff generally go up during Christmas, especially down south? Greedy Christians always trying to exploit the festive period for unusual profit. --- BTW, I am not justifying the current fuel scarcity, neither am I exonorating the authorities. I'm just saying that issues should be situated properly. A few years ago we had a super Minister of Petroleum (Christian) under a Christian president, yet we still experienced petrol scarcity during every Christmas. |
orion7:Just before I rest my case, I just want to remind you that we've had Christian Ministers of Petroleum. One of them was a super minister for over 4 years under a Christian president. --- Now go figure. I'm done! |
orion7:Ok, fair enough. But since I was born, prices of commodities always go up during every single Christmas. Now, who has been responsible for them? --- You may wish to note that I wasn't born in 2015. |
orion7:Fair enough. I'm asking - who do we blame for the general increase in the price of commodities during Christmas? |
SalamRushdie:At least you are not screaming "lies" and "propaganda". I'm surprised you actually believe the news. |
Stricker321:Really? Who are they blaming for the sabotage? A very petty attempt to get involved partisan politics. Lagos should just be an independent country. |

Just like Reuben Abati, Femi Adesina is a disappointment....only that he is much worse. --- Always making comments that shows he is so disconnected from the Nigerian reality. Trying to trivialise what Nigerians are going through is wrong on all levels. --- Just like Okukpe and Abati who kept thinking their principal was still popular and that Buhari was "Perpetually Unelectable", Adesina and his minions will soon be hit with a stark reality. --- Power truly corrupts! |
If this is the kind of advice Omokri used to give his principal in Aso Rock, then he must be really naive. Trying to compare the Catalan struggle with that of Biafra is an insult to organised society. --- A group of people who could not even vote their own (Ojukwu) for President under APGA. A group of people who floated a political party and yet that party has only managed to win one state out of five for years now. --- A group of people whose Elite (political, business, traditional, religious, etc) are scared to come out in the open to promote or support their Biafra agenda. What is the position of Coscharis, Zinox, Diamond Bank, Fidelity Bank, Orange Drugs, Air Peace, INNOSON, Ike Ekweremadu, Orji Uzor Kalu, Ifeanyi Uba, SE Governors, etc on the Biafra issue? I bet they all want a united Nigeria. Their Businesses all love the huge market the Nigerian state provides and their politicians all enjoy the handouts they get from Abuja. --- In summary, such political party as advised by Omokri wouldn't win 10% of LGAs in the entire SE, let alone winning a governorship or NASS seat. --- Igbos maybe the most enterprising group in Nigeria, but they are definitely the most politically naive group! I wouldn't trust them to come up with a collective and organised political strategy. |
imam07:I am a Christian and I don't hate Israel. I hate oppression. |
IamPatriotic:Trump has no regards for history, peace or Christianity. This is all about hatred for Muslims (so-called terrorists). --- If the US is so right, why have all their allies, major powers, fellow members of UN Security Council all voted against him? |
The very same people who complain about oppression in Nigeria are the first to support Isreali oppression of Palestinians - simply because it fits their religious prejudices. The Israeli which they so much claim to love are not even Christians, but predominantly Jews. The Jews do not even read the Bible, yet they claim God is fulfilling a Biblical prophesy. --- In the Bible, Jacob FRAUDULENTLY stole the right of his brother Esau, yet the entire Christian faith still justify and celebrate Jacob - simply because it is so written in the Bible. --- On the Jerusalem issue, 128 countries voted against US decision (including major allies like France, Germany, UK, Italy, etc.). Most of these countries have significant Christian majority. Yet people like FFK will see this as an opportunity to advance their anti-Islamic narrative. --- Are we even aware that there are Christians in Palestine who also feel aggrieved by the Israeli and US actions? |
Unfortunately, folks do not discuss an article based on its merits or demerits. Everything, these days, is just about taking sides based on our prejudices. --- Assuming this is true, chances are that this has been going on for well over 10 years. The article mentions that the alleged spurious account were opened in 2006. |
I still do not understand the basis why GTB had EFCC to arrest INNOSON. It's not clear from that writeup. --- In any case, I've heard EFCC's version, I've heard INNOSON's version. I'll probably wait till I hear GTB's version before forming an opinion on the matter. There are always different sides to a story! |
This looks clearly like the handiwork of the military guys - probably taking a revenge on the community for the death of one of theirs. --- What would be the motivation for hoodlums to carry out such destruction shortly after the death of a soldier. And if they, indeed, wore military uniforms, how did the eyewitness know they were miscreants and not the military guys? |
deomelo:My apologies for mentioning you. |
deomelllo:You don't need to pull others down to lift yourself. Bringing Ambode in wasn't necessary, let alone making derogatory remarks. I'm not sure Ambode has ever claimed he was better than Aregbesola. |
Nice to see see an opposition governor coming out to clear the air on the controversial issue. --- Throughout the governor's statement, he he kept referring to "National security" which is consistent with the earlier position of the vice president. --- Unfortunately, this has been misconstrued as funds for only Boko Haram fight, and this newspaper headline is still trying to reinforce this false narrative. |
