aolawale025:Precisely! |

crossover:Mathew 25:40 says that "... Whatever you did not do for the least of these brothers of mine [poor ones], you did not do for me". --- If you like, carry your entire income and life savings to a pastor in the name of giving you God. Jesus himself has told you (above) exactly what it means to give to him, yet you chose to be hung up on some old testament rule. --- If you read the passage further 2 verses down, you'll hear Jesus condemning "your type" to eternal damnation. You can read from verse 38 to have better understanding of the context. Just continue deceiving yourself. |
celestialAgent:Lol...tnx for the kind words. |
bionixs:You could have made your point without necessarily throwing insults. --- When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, he could've simply picked one from the 10 commandments, but yet he chose give a fresh perspective. When he was asked about the law requiring adulterous women to be stoned to death, he could've simply upheld it, yet he gave a fresh perspective. I can go on to mention a few more. |
Yes! CBN actually sanctioned banks in August 2015 for non-remittance of NNPC funds in line with the TSA directive. It was after then that NNPC and other agencies requested permission to be exempted for which they received presidential approval in September 2015. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/08/25/tsa-cbn-enforces-sanction-shuns-nine-banks-in-dollar-sales/ --- Regardless when INTELS was been sanctioned, you lot would've still criticised. If the sanction came in 2019, you would've asked why not 2018? If it was in 2018, you would've asked why not 2017? Now that is happening in 2017, you are asking why not 2016? Yet, if it was 2016, you would've asked why not 2015? --- I do not have to take Atiku to court. What I have is my opinion of him. --- Yes, you are very free to support and vote for any aspirant who you believe has better programmes. Fortunately, I also have similar freedom and rights, and I hope to exercise it to the fulllest come 2019. |
Ashley86400:United and Chelsea, obviously. But it has to be put into perspective that they are the only 2 matches City played away. They will definitely receive more spanking when they visit Etihad stadium. |
Blue3k:During the constitutional amendment under GEJ administration, the National Assembly voted to make the State Houses of Assembly independent. Shockingly, when it was time for the HOAs to ratify it, they voted against their own autonomy. They said they preferred to be under the whimps and caprices of the State Governors. --- That's when I knew that our legislatures in the State Houses of Assembly are about the most useless set of elected officials in the country. --- Very pathetic! Our problems are definitely much more than the people in Aso Rock. |
Saaruman:I just realised that everything good in Nigeria was done by GEJ and everything bad done by PMB. --- GEJ turned Nigeria into a First world country - with modern roads, railways and airports. All graduates and artisans had jobs under his administration. Our foreign reserves was growing and we were growing all the food we eat. He restructured Nigeria, and gave us modern and well equipped schools and hospitals. --- Unfortunately, PMB reversed all that and is turning us back to a third world country. Clap for yourself! |
chinjo:It means he is not dogmatic, but open to new (and more enlightened) interpretations and perspectives of the bible. --- Surely, if Jesus was available today and he was asked questions concerning most issues in the bible, his perspectives would challenge some of the things we claim to hold as dogma, sacrosanct or law. |
chinjo:Did you read the news regarding the cause of the strike? |
SouthEastFacts:INTELS was not singled out. Even the CBN sanctioned banks for failing to comply fully with the TSA directive. --- INTELS have apologised to the FG and have now promised to comply fully with the TSA directive. Also, I understand that the NPA has raised a memo requesting for approval to reinstate INTELS after receiving their apology and commitment. This goes to show that the government position wasn't merely vindictive but rather the rule of law. --- So, Atiku left the APC shortly after the INTELS/NPA debacle. Was he hoping that - as a ranking member in APC - his company will enjoy exclusive status and be considered above the law? If this is the case, it goes to validate those who claim that he used his position as head of privatisation to benefit himself and his goons. --- Is he planning to use his office as president to give his companies unfair advantage? Surely, Nigeria does not need a profit-oriented president, but a welfare-oriented one. |
ShinnBet:I think she's saying that there is no law specifically proscribing the use of hijab, except that it is merely a convention. I'm not a lawyer, but I doubt one really needs to challenge a convention in court. --- BTW, the abusive comments wasn't necessary. |
On the NNPC $25B contract issue - Yes, Ibe Kachikwu accused the NNPC GMD of getting approval for the contracts without following due process. It may please you to know that the president agreed with the minister of state and the contracts were sent back to follow due process. Only last Wednesday, the minister of state re-presented the exact same contracts in the FEC meeting for approval after it had now gone through all necessary due process. --- On the Maina issue - I personally think that the Maina saga is a sore point in the administration's anti-corruption war. No questions, that was simply a disaster. --- On the issue of EFCC, ICPC, BVN, TSA, IPPIS, GIMFIS, etc as tools to fight corruption - Well, government is a continuum. One would expect an administration to follow through with the good policies of the previous administration(s). For instance, IPPIS was introduced in April 2007 by OBJ, but it was GEJ administration that eventually implemented it. TSA and BVN were introduced by GEJ, but it is PMB that enforced it. The problem of Nigeria is not creating new fancy laws, but actually enforcing existing ones, and that is what PMB is doing. In any case, the Whistle Blower policy can be credited to this administration as part of tools to fight corruption. --- On the exemption of NNPC from TSA, while INTELS is forced to comply - First and foremost, I think it's really petty for Omokri to single out INTELS as if they are the only one forced to comply with TSA, but I can understand his partisan position considering that Atiku is now on his side. But ignoring the partisan jibe, you might wish to recall that in May 2015, the FG exempted 13 government agencies from the TSA account. This was because of the nature of their operations (for instance, the NNPC manages the JV account that includes IOCs as major stakeholders). This was widely reported in the papers and done transparently. INTELS is not a government agency, so one wonders why Omokri thinks they should also benefit from that exclusive status. https://www.google.com/amp/thenationonlineng.net/presidency-exempts-nnpc-phcn-boi-10-others-from-tsa/amp/ --- Omokri has been known to see everything good in the GEJ administration and everything bad in PMB. Hence, he's not a patriot to me and I don't take him serious. |
RemedyLab:Unfortunately, the Central Government made them so by refusing to devolve powers to the state. The items on the exclusive list of the FG are too numerous. The criminal Land Use Act should be repealed and all mining rights should go to the States, so they can negotiate mining licenses with potential investors. |

The Minister is an utter disgrace. First and foremost, his English is as horrendous as the stadium in question. Secondly, why should he (as a public official) consider a patriotic request of his performance to be a personal attack? --- I agree that the problem pre-dates this administration, but ffs, they were elected and appointed to solve the problem. He could easily have stated the efforts they are making to solve the problem or the challenges they are facing. He only managed - after much hassling - to talk about the refurbishment of the swimming pool. --- I've always considered him to be the worst minister in this administration, and now he has proved me right. Shame on him and whoever appointed him. |
nerodenero:What does this mean? I tend to see it being used quite often. --- BTW, GEJ acted like a real statesman. I think PMB has also sent congratulatory messages to GEJ and other notable Nigerians. It's just the responsible to do regardless whether you agree with them or not. |
Blue3k2:Ignore the dimwit. There's an earlier thread where it was reported that police clashed with local miners in Taraba leading to several loss of lives. --- If the circumstances were reversed such that the "peaceful" arrest happened in Taraba while the unfortunate loss of lives happened in Ebonyi, these lot wouldn't let anyone hear a word. They would've cursed the president and accused him of all manner of war crimes. |
Blue3k:I'd like to believe it's the Joint Venture that will manage the entire value chain, not just the foreign company. --- "Furthermore, we will establish a joint venture company that will own [the project] and manage exploration activities, mining operations, processing and refining processes, shipment, sales and marketing of tin and its derivatives in Nigeria” |
Nonsense! This is becoming too petty. Amaechi and Wike have huge responsibilities, yet they spend a lot of time throwing childish tantrums. Same goes for Fayose. |
spencekat:Ok, great to hear. |
What is the governor's background? Is it civil engineering? --- Nothing wrong in physically inspecting projects, but I see no sense in the governor packing concrete or measuring drainages. If he can't trust his commissioner for works to do this and advise him appropriately, then there's a problem. |
A review of the Land Use Act would have been the first subtle move towards restructuring and economic self-sufficiency of states. But our legislatures do not think that it requires urgent attention. |
Today, PDP points to the revolution in the telecoms sector as one of its great achievement. However, what people don't talk about is that the early years of such revolution was very difficult for Nigerian pockets. We were buying sim cards for N25-30k each and making calls at N50/min. We were operating on 2G network with snail-speed Internet connection. But today, things have significantly improved. --- That is just what happens during the early years of sectoral reforms or revolution. The present government is focusing on agriculture, and while the initial years will be difficult for Nigerians in terms of high cost of goods, the cost of goods will significantly go down within a year or two as more investments enter the sector to achieve economies of scale. --- Our ability to produce some of these food items locally will also reduce pressure on the reserves, which is already evident in the increasing FR figures. |
castrokins:In the past, you had a situation where there was a "Conspiracy Of Silence" and everyone colluded to defraud the system. Now, you have a situation where the system is checking itself to ensure no one is undermining the law or due process. Yet you can't find find any positive in this other than to spew your typical cynical comments. --- No wonder you all want to "Bring back corruption". Y'all are going to wait a long time. |
Matthew 25:40 - ".... Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." --- Matthew 25:45 -".... Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me." --- 1 John 4:20 - "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.."
|
castrokins:Two possibilities - either you didn't care to read the article but were quick to vent your hate-filled scum or you read it but still decided to be true to your hateful nature. Now read again below what the Minister said: "Asked why he had to present the contract again to FEC for approval, Mr. Kachikwu told PREMIUM TIMES it was to correct the irregularity he pointed out in his leaked memo to the President. That shouldn't be too difficult to understand now. But if it still is, I'm afraid I can't help you further. |
I agree. You can't throw away the baby with the bath water. --- Just like saying we should scrap the NPF or Judiciary or NASS or Government or....just because there are cases of widespread corruption and abuse of office. At that rate, we might as well scrap the entire country. |
id911:No Nigerian court was courageous to convict James Ibori. If the UK courts had not convicted him, you lot would've been saying he's as clean as snow. --- Reality is, most Nigerians know those that are corrupt or not. That the pillars of justice in Nigeria is too weak to bring people to justice doesn't mean we don't know the the reality of things. |
id911:Go hide your head in shame for trying to turn facts on its head. --- The only move by PMB was from ANPP to CPC. Even at that, he wasn't jumping to prostitute in another existing party. He had the courage to float his own party (CPC) to advance his political ambition. --- Atiku has been prostituting from place to place trying to reap where he did not sow. He and Buhari should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Buhari towers above him when it comes to integrity and principles. |
Why have Christians applauded Trump for recognising Jerusalem as capital of Israel? Some (like FFK and Omokri) think it's a fulfilment of some Biblical prophesy. --- As Jesus himself asked "What does it profit a man to gain the world but lose his soul?", I also ask "What does it profit Israel to gain Jerusalem but lose their salvation?" --- The Bible says that the condition for eternal life (heaven) is the acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Saviour. As over 97% of people in Israel are not Christians - and so do not see Jesus as God and Saviour - would it not interest God more to convert these people first to Christianity so they can make heaven rather than getting involved in the politics of Jerusalem? --- The truth is, some Christians see the Trump move as a an opportunity to express their hatred of Muslims. Their crappy talk of Biblical prophesy is just a feeble attempt to use the Holy Book to validate their prejudice. --- Religion is utterly divisive! |
