TonyeBarcanista:You want to overwhelm the president so you can break him down and have something to WAIL about? Even if the president were to investigate all the cases you raised above, you will still come out with a long list of others. The fight against corruption has to start somewhere, so no matter where it starts, I expect Wailing. Even if the president were to start with Tinubu, you lot will still wail "Use and Dump". In all this, you've not said anything about the incompetence and complicity of your "hero" in allowing corruption to fester & flourish with Impunity under his watch. Get a life bro and quit defending the indefensible. Most of you lot are the worst victims of corruption and yet you come online to castigate those who want to liberate you. The Nigerian project is much bigger than what you or the PDP think. The collective WILL of Nigerians to move the country forward can consume anybody standing in its path. Be advised! |
tupacshakur:You guys seem to get it all wrong... PMB is the leader of the Federal Government, and not State government. Have you not noticed that the president is not particularly concerned about what goes on in various states, whether PDP or APC? It is the place of State Governors to uncover and escalate issues of corruption in their state to EFCC. The president is doing same for the Federal Government. Nigeria operates a Federal System of government and not Unitary system where the President directly oversees everything. |
mvalentine:South Africa generates 3x more in Taxes than Nigeria generates from Oil. South Africa generates 40,000MW of electricity for a population of 45 million while Nigeria generates less than 5,000MW of electricity for a population of 170 million. South Africa has much higher GDP per Capita and Per Capita income than Nigeria. Of the 10 largest banks in Africa, South Africa has #1 to #4 position. South African Universities are ranked far higher than Nigerian ones. South African companies like MTN, DSTV, Shoprite, Game, Park n' Shop are doing well in Nigeria. How many large Nigerian companies are doing well in SA. The only thing Nigeria has more than South Africa is population, land mass, and natural resources. Truth is Nigeria has more potential than South Africa, but of what use is potentials if you don't harness them. |
omonnakoda:@ the bolded. Valid point, but I don't think Nigerians are that incompetent. We have a corrupt culture/system that makes even the most competent fellow looks mediocre. Nigerians perform exceptionally well outside the country but when brought back home, their performance is less than stellar. Arik might be struggling, but then the likes of Dangote, GTBank, Glo, etc are doing well and even going international. I am not advocating for government 100% ownership. Who even knows what is in the report? Maybe we should give them the benefit of doubt and not preempt them until the report is made public. A good model might be recommended. |
omonnakoda:That is why I said in my last comment that "countries have figured out a model to manage their National Airlines" It could be wholly government owned, it could be Public Private Partnership, it could be government owned but managed by private business, etc. We have tried most of these models without success - Nigerian Airways, Air Nigeria, Virgin Nigeria, etc. The problem may not necessarily be in the models but rather in the corruption entrenched in them. |
Anyone who undermines Baba's single-mindedness of purpose is doing that at his/her own peril. Baba said "we set out to do things methodically". He said "Impatience is not a virtue...order is better than speed". In the fullness of time indeed, the glory of Motherland shall return. God bless Baba. |
(1) Corruption attacks and seeks to destroy our national institutions and character. By misdirecting into selfish hands funds intended for the public purpose, corruption distorts the economy and worsens income inequality. It creates a class of unjustly-enriched people. Such an illegal yet powerful force soon comes to undermine democracy because its conspirators have amassed so much money that they believe they can buy government. We shall end this threat to our economic development and democratic survival. I repeat that corruption will not be tolerated by this administration; and it shall no longer be allowed to stand as if it is a respected monument in this nation. - April 01, 2015 (2) “We have seen in the last few years how huge resources were mismanaged, squandered and wasted. The new APC government is embarking on a clean up, introducing prudence and probity in public financing. - October 01, 2015. (3) I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone. People should only fear the consequences of their actions. - October 01, 2015 |
Baba is not just only about Corruption afterall. The Economy shall also feel his "Body Language". In the fullness of time, everything shall fall in place again. |
LadyMessi:Apparently, you did not read the article itself to see if it corroborates the title. Such bias and prejudice is limiting. Between you and the OP, I don't know who is more mischievous & lazy. |
Kukah expressed this pessimism while speaking as a guest during the Independence Anniversary programme The Platform on the topic “Nigeria: Euphoria, Hysteria and Dementia, Still a long walk to freedom,”Apparently, he had to deliver a speech that was in consonant with the topic of the lecture. I agree that government should be of LAWS rather than of MEN. But, then you good and Patriotic men to build institutions to make and enforce the laws. Unpatriotic and evil men will only seek to make poor laws and weaken available institutions so they can't enforce the laws. That is why Buhari is the closest thing to a "Messiah" right now. His austere and altruistic lifestyle means he is not the for personal gain but to return back sanity to reckless system. |
The Ethiopian Airlines generated more revenue in 2014/2015 than all the other African airlines put together. In Nigeria, we always blame government inefficiency when national assets are mismanaged, when the actual blame should be on corruption. Many countries have figured out a model to manage their National Airlines. Similarly, while the NNPC is a total disgrace here in Nigeria, its contemporaries like Saudi Aramco, Petronas, Petrobras, etc have been hugely successful in their various countries, with some of them listed as global Fortune 500 companies. |
Dannyset:He'll most likely be Minister for Information. |
makzeze:Abdurrahman Dambazau - Defense Kayode Fayemi - Foreign Affairs Chris Ngige - Health Still expecting the real technocrats. Can't find anyone for Finance on that list. |
Ofodirinwa:I do agree that Lagos still offers the most attractive choice for investors. However, I think there is merit in Pat's comment. I do think that there are a lot of people who would seriously consider relocating from Lagos just to escape traffic stress, if only opportunities were to spring up elsewhere that can match similar opportunities in Lagos. Even if 3 opportunities were to spring up in Lagos for every 1 that spring up in other states, the AGGREGATE opportunities from other states would still exceed that of Lagos leading to a NET outflow of residents. So, yes, I believe that if there are sufficient investments in other states, it just might decongest Lagos or at the very minimum, reduce the population growth rate. |
MaziARINZE01:I am a bit disappointed that the list is full of politicians. I have the impression that this batch of ministers was meant to assuage all the political interests in the party. Something tells me that in the next batch, the president will exercise his full prerogative and get in real technocrats. I hope I'm right. |
luvmijeje:I hope he gets Ministry of Works. He seems to be excellent in developing infrastructures. |
dustmalik:I don't think the lady who opened the thread is necessarily a Tanoid. My impression is that she was a bit rattled by the President's assertion that CBN and NCC are revenue generating agencies. So she became curious and then genuinely set out to clear her doubt by asking folks in the house. |
Obiagelli:My apologies then. |
Obiagelli:"because they say"...and what do you say? |
In 2012, CBN was the highest revenue generating agency of the FG, even more than NNPC. Before you are quick to criticize, you may want to read the links below: http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php/banking-a-finance/49040-cbn-tops-list-of-revenue-generation-for-2012 http://www.punchng.com/opinion/viewpoint/how-cbn-makes-its-money/ |
How this junk got to FP so quickly is beyond me. |
Obiagelli:Yes ma'am. |
Obiagelli:Just a friendly question - no offense. Why do you bear so much HATRED and RESENTMENT in your heart towards the man? |
omenka: Obiagelli:Anytime the newspapers carry negative news, it is considered TRUE and the "dullard" should be crucified. But when the same papers carry positive news, then it is PROPAGANDA sponsored by Tinubu and APC. Hatred has made you lot loose every sense of objectivity and rationality. Keep up, but you'll have to endure this for the next 44 months. |
A hungry and paid blogger doing a terrible job of attempting to rubbish the personality of Ita Enang. For the records, Ita Enang is Senior Special Assistant to the President on Senate matters. He was also in company with the Chief of Staff to submit the list to the Senate President. The blogger should get a a life and quit blogging or he'll get the Ogun treatment.
|
Ok. |
Buhari, The caliber of names on that list had better be worth the suspense and the drama. If you fall my hand, you can bet that I'll be Wailing real loud. So Saraki, can we hear the names? |
The President is becoming annoying. He should just get this Ministerial issue over with already. It is obvious the country needs Ministers to articulate and drive government policies, so why the dilly-dallying. |

. I voted for Buhari and for change but until he extends the tentacles of his anti-corruption net to the criminals within, I ain't taking him serious.
