Politics › Re: Whether Buhari Can Be Screened By The Senate- The Position Of The Law. by Bevista: 7:56am On Oct 06, 2015
harristo:
I get from your piece that the president does not become a minister of petroleum or other.
If the president decides to not appoint a minister to oversee a certain aspect of the economy,
that aspect would simply have no minister and be under the president.

This means there is no such thing as the president becoming a minister. If the president is to become a minister then he must be screened by the senate. Because as you pointed out, the constitution says that every minister must be screened by the senate.

In other words the senators that are talking of screening president Buhari are right. As long as Buhari is talking of becoming minister of petroleum, the senators can use the constitution against him and insist that he be screened.

President Buhari doesn't need to be the minister of petroleum to oversee that ministry, as the ministry is already under him the moment he became the president. Appointing a minister simply means that he is delegating authority over the ministry to someone else - authority that he possessed.

The president needs to make this clear. Where are his advisors?
Brilliant and well articulated. The exact words of the president were "I intend to remain Minister of Petroleum Resources".

I suppose that the message the president was trying to get across was that no Minister of Petroleum will be appointed and as such the ministry will be directly under his watch. Unfortunately, the semantics of that message has given room for various interpretations.

But I bet that no Senator will dare raise this issue up on the floor of the senate. All the reports seem to be quoting some nameless & faceless Senators.

Another angle we can look at this thing from is, these guys knew they'll end up in jail so they opted for a UK jail rather than be arrested and jailed in Nigeria. Haruna Momoh (former M.D. PPMC) has reported to the police station today, the same one Allison is supposed to report to. Haruna too was a Diezani boy that didn't have any problems showing off his wealth when they were in power. These guys conveniently moved to the UK living large while they awaited their arrest.
Wrong. It's not either Nigeria or UK.

The Brits are charging her for MONEY LAUNDERING and BRIBERY. Those are crimes committed on the shores of UK. When she's done there, Nigeria will slam a 15 count CORRUPTION charge on her, which are crimes committed on the shores of Nigeria.

Even Ibori might still face charges back here in Nigeria after his release from the UK prison (except his case had already gone to the Supreme Court). Remember, he was also charged for MONEY LAUNDERING in the UK, which is completely different from the charges he was being slammed here in Nigeria.

What we r clamouring for is outright removal of subsidy. Sofar that word subsidy exist, there will always be corruption in the system, cos the situation where refineries is being acclaimed to work in full capacity, and we are still importing 100percent of what is acclaimed to be used daily by nigerians which is 40million litres daily. So what is the refinery refining?
PMB inherited a fractured system from your "hero", and he is doing all he can to restore sanity back. Yet you come here to vent vile vituperations against the man.

Are the figures being reported the ACTUAL subsidy payment from official sources? The 40m figure which has been debatable was what was used by your fraudulent party to hoodwink Nigerians. Who knows, by the time a proper audit is done, we'll now see that we don't consume that much daily.

No wonder PMB asked "Who is Subsidizing Who?"

Good, this is where most of the fraud are hidden. What we are seeing now is greater transparency and probity in how PPPRA arrive at those figures. Hopefully, it'll go down even more.

There was a time we spent over $5b per day in this country for subsidy, even with no increase in daily consumption, yet no reasonable explanation was provided.

Again my own take
My point is that the figures being bandied in papers are not from official sources. They are projections made by those papers based on an estimated daily consumption of PMS.

When the official figures are out, then the ACTUAL subsidy payment will be much less than those ESTIMATES.

I think so. Tell me when last u or anybody u know on their generators for more than 3hours. I haven't on my in the last 2 month bbefore then I did a minimum 2litres a day. 2x60=120litres remove my 120 that's a drop
Obiagelli:
You have a solid point there
Imaima, don't fall for that guy. He has no point.

The average consumption of PMS in Nigeria is estimated at 40 litres/day. What the papers do is to take subsidy Per Litre of PMS and multiply with this 40 million figure to arrive at the ESTIMATED subsidy payment.

For instance, the paper reports that subsidy Per Litre in June was N51.61 while total daily subsidy was estimated as N2.06b. If you observe, N2.06b = 51.61 X 40m.

Similarly, the paper also reports that subsidy Per Litre as at Sunday is N14.39 while total daily subsidy is estimated as 575m. If you also observe, N575m = 14.39 X 40m. So, in both cases, the same estimated consumption of 40million litres/day is used.

If, indeed, our daily consumption has gone down below 40m due to improved power supply, then the ACTUAL subsidy payment per day will even be less than the estimated N575m. Remember, the figures are Estimates by the media and not the Actual figures from official sources.

Why not tell Nigerians the real scandal that led to her arrest and eventual release on bail?

Was the arrest a jamboree or substantial? Are the crimes based on administrative lapses, irreconcilable business deals with companies doing business with NNPC or outright indulgence in corrupt deals to enrich herself through proxy?

We need a new Nigeria where the prosecutors are knowledgeable enough to defend and prove their charges beyond public outcry and opinions.
The UK are going to prosecute Dieziani and Co for Money Laundering and Bribery, similar to what they did with Ibori.

Back in Nigeria, the FG will be prosecuting her for corruption. It is this part that the EFCC have not concluded investigations. Apparently, the UK government believe they have sufficient evidence to proceed with the money laundering charges.

Chances are that the figures are true. But I think the minister is being clever by claiming not to have information on 2010/2011 figures, cos that's where they spent outrageous sums.

Quite frankly, I expect the peak expenditure to be that of 2010, and from available information, it may have been under N7billion. So, it doesn't make sense for expenditures of other years to exceed that as purported by El Rufai.

Politics › Re: How President Buhari Chose The Ministerial Nominees – Garba Shehu by Bevista:
The processes involved require that we, the Nigerian government, establish prima facie evidence of wrongdoing. For instance, if ship ABC lifted crude at Warri terminal, and instead of taking it to London, it was diverted to maybe a Canadian country, there should be documents to indicate that after it was diverted the proceeds were taken to this account that belongs to a private Nigerian citizen or an international conglomerate and not the Nigerian government. This will require the cooperation of shipping companies, insurance companies and the cooperation of the banking systems in those countries; whether in China, the United States, UK or anywhere.

It will also require the political backing of the leaders of these countries which we are beginning to now see. So, by the time these processes are completed, the President will now be certain that the proceeds of such practices would be repatriated to the country. That would be used as evidence for the prosecution of those people who have engaged in that illicit trade.
After reading the entire interview, I am more than assured that the country is in the path to Greatness.

The above quote from the interview goes to corroborate what the president said in his Independent day speech that "His government has set out to do things methodically". Like I said, APC is a Northern supremacist party. It has always participated in every elections since 1999 through its defunct APP, ANPP, CpC, AC and ACN.

Yar'adua is a nationalist and democrat per excellence same with most Northerners. He's a proudly Nigerian of Northern extraction but not a Northern supremacist. PDP is a party for all Nigerians and not a Northern or Southern supremacist party. In fact, APC is a threat to our collective democracy.

Come 2019, we shall troop out to support the emergence of a patriotic Nigerian from the North as PDP flagbearer. You APC guys are a danger to Nigeria and the North!
And why would Nigerians commit the blunder of supporting a PDP presidential candidate?

Oh, I know. So that they can continue to experience Corruption with Impunity. So they can continue experiencing blackout even with over $20 billion spent on Power. So they can continue buying Fuel at exorbitant rates even with Trillions of Naira spent on subsidy. So they can continue experience a weakening of Institutions in the country. So that our National Treasury can continue to be plundered with reckless abandon even in the face of high oil prices. I can go on and on bro.

You are still stuck in the past while Nigeria has moved on. The vast majority of Nigerians will not vote to satisfy party leanings since they have no direct benefits from parties. Nigerians will vote based on who they believe will best serve their needs. That is why they voted for PMB, they did not vote for APC.

The 2015 slot should have naturally gone to north but PDP had incumbency advantage and to satisfy the SS, the north still forfeited their space. It is only fair and just that the north be given the 2019 ticket and 2023.

For APC, it has always been the NORTH....NORTH and North

So you accuse APC of ALWAYS promoting a NORTHERN agenda, not minding that the party was only formed in 2013 and have presented a Presidential candidate only ONCE. If Buhari's objective has always been promoting Northern Agenda, can you tell me why he contested in 2007 against Umaru Musa Yar'Adua who is a fellow northerner, fellow Muslim, and a even a fellow Katsina man?

Your attempt in trying to justify the PDP's decision in fielding a candidate from the north in the 2019 elections is very infantile. For the records, you know nothing about how decisions in the PDP are made, but yet you rush online to defend whatever scum the party spews out.

You and your ilk have started playing the ethnic and religious cards again, trying to divide Nigeria even more. What you lot have not realized is that the media space has been democratized, and folks like us shall ensure that Nigerians see through your slant agenda. You are C-in-C of the armed forces. Kindly use all the resources in your arsenal to send these Devils to where they belong - Pit of Hell. No excuses shall be tolerated.

If the heat is too much, you can do the needful...or we won't hesitate to give you the GEJ treatment.

Let the 'witchunt' continue, the Sinators should be thoroughly sniffed and smoked out.

Enough of the nauseating support for corruption, Nigerians have had enough.

And why should the presidency use one of its agencies, the CCB, to prosecute Saraki, an erstwhile governor and serving senate president and not use the same CCB to prosecute Fashola who was alleged to have built just a simple website for about 78 million naira or Atiku who the US indicted in the Halliburton bribery scandal?

The anti-corruption drive should be all-encompassing, my Nigger! That's my point.
The CCB prosecutes those who they have found to have committed an infraction on the Code of the Bureau. The cases you mentioned above have nothing to do with the CCB. If you have sufficient evidence to back your claim, I will advise you to proceed to the EFCC with such evidence.

WHO SAY BUHARI NO DEY FEAR?
THE ALLISONS VS BUHARI
"Why Has Buhari and His APC Attack Dogs Quietly Retreated From Attacking Diezani Alison-Madueke?What does Buhari want to be kept a secret concerning his cowardly withdrawal from the media lynching of the former Petroleum Minister and first female OPEC President? As you may be aware, Alison-Madueke's husband is Rear Admiral Allison Amaechina Madueke, a retired Nigerian naval officer. He was military governor of Anambra State from January 1984 to August 1985, and then of Imo State until 1986.The husband of the former Petroleum Minister is a retired General just like Buhari and the whole attacks on his wife by the APC finally came to a head about a month ago.Madueke booked an appointment to see Buhari and Buhari was happy to see him thinking he wants to come and beg, so they can carry news of their meeting as propaganda as this irresponsible government often does. When he got to Aso Rock, Madueke warned Buhari over the attacks on his wife.Sources in Aso Rock say, Buhari was apologizing, that he didn't send anyone to do what they are doing. Madueke said that if they think his wife went to school for nothing they are mistaken. Or that in her 5 years in the petroleum ministry she didn't uncover corruption during Buhari's time, then he is mistaken. That if he hears one more assault on his wife from Buhari and the APC, in any format, he will personally call a world press conference and expose all their dirty oil deals dating back to the very beginning of discovering oil.He threatened that when he exposed how the Northern has raped this country's petroleum resources, they can kiss Nigeria goodbye, because the people of the Niger Delta will know the extent of the injustice done to them by Northerners.People who witnessed this meeting say Buhari was shaking. Begging, that he never attacked Diezani. He never sent anybody to write anything. The man told him off, saying, "But you read those reports that said my wife was running after you in the tarmac, that she greeted you and you did not answer her greeting?! Did you disclaim them?!! Did you tell people it did not happen?!" They said, Buhari was apologising that Madueke should calm down.Madueke finished what he had to say and walked out. Buhari's aides were stunned.Since then, nobody has even tweeted anything about oil, Diezani, etc.

We know the Apc e rats won't love this story. But we are daring Apc to go the media and make just one noise about madueke
I booked this comment for a day like this. How market bro?
