tuniski:I wish him well, then. Just remember that we are in a new Era, where everything is responding to the now famous "Body Language". |
Ridiculous. How much do they need to conduct public hearing? |
smartdebiz:It wouldn't be too much, then, to respectfully ask you to create your own thread to tell your own story and stop derailing someone else's thread. 2 weeks successful trading proves nothing. Even a broken clock is correct twice a day. |
tuniski:You haven't got a clue of the powers of the Code of Conduct Tribunal. They have constitutional powers to sack any elected official. Google is your friend. |
Emefiele said the list of restricted items could be expanded to encourage local production. Those who criticized the governor from restricting certain items should brace up. More restrictions are on the way. Local production/manufacturing must be encouraged. Desperate situations require desperate measures! |
The policy is part of President Buhari’s drive to fight corruption, but analysts say it could suck up as much as 10 percent of banking sector deposits – hammering banks’ liquidity ratios.Corruption must be fought from all angles no matter the cost. In the fullness of time, everything shall fall in place. |
Read full article below: Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele on Thursday told Nigerians not to panic over the decision of the Federal Government to shift its bank accounts to the apex bank. The decision, according to agency reports, drains billions of dollars from the financial system. Emefiele also ruled out a naira devaluation, a position early declared by President Muhammadu Buhari during his recent visit to France. In an interview with Reuters, Emefiele said he was ready to inject liquidity if needed into the interbank market, which dried up this week following a directive to government departments to move their accounts into a “Treasury Single Account” at the central bank. The policy is part of President Buhari’s drive to fight corruption, but analysts say it could suck up as much as 10 percent of banking sector deposits – hammering banks’ liquidity ratios. Amid confusion over implementation of the policy, overnight interbank lending rates spiked to 200 percent this week, but Emefiele denied the policy had provoked a liquidity crisis. “There is no shortage of liquidity,” he said, pointing to an oversubscribed sale of treasury bills on Wednesday. “A spike is a momentary action. It’s sentiment,” he said. Emefiele said less than one trillion naira ($5 billion) would be moved into the single account but did not give details. Emefiele was also emphatic about maintaining the naira currency – which has dived in the past year due to a collapse in oil revenues – at its current level of 197 to the dollar. “There will not be a devaluation because right now the currency is appropriately priced,” he said. In a series of unconventional interventions to protect the naira, the bank has blocked access to foreign currency to import items ranging from soap and toothpicks to cement and private jets. Emefiele said the list of restricted items could be expanded to encourage local production. He rejected claims by Nigerian firms about the difficulties of getting hold of dollars and ruled out the possibility of a default by any company with dollar-denominated debt. http://dailytimes.com.ng/cbn-allays-fears-treasury-single-account/ |
It must really be repugnant. Don't even know how PMB is gonna clean up such magnitude of mess. May God/Allah guide Baba's steps so he doesn't get consumed by the stench coming from those agencies. |
tuniski:You haven't got a clue of the powers of the Code of Conduct Tribunal. They have constitutional powers to sack any elected official. Consult your lawyer. The Tribunal should oblige immediately. That treacherous criminal needs a hard lesson on Contempt of Court. Era of Impunity should be gone for good. |
iconaus:He needs two-third majority. Where is he gonna get it? |
The Tribunal should oblige immediately. That ambitious & criminal traitor needs a hard lesson on Contempt of Court. Era of Impunity should be gone for good. |
bettercreature:Yes, the judgement is by 1.30pm. Vanguard is merely reporting on the prayers of the FG. |

How patronizing?! Someone should please check if that moniker has been hacked. Better late than never bro. You can't go wrong being on the right side of the truth. |
FreeGlobe:And where is he gonna get two-third majority from? |
A chieftain of the party in Sokoto State, Abdullahi Sarkin-Gobir Adiya made this declaration during an interview with ThisDay NewspaperSince when did the opinion of a party chieftain represent an official position of the party. @OP, respect yourself and correct the title of that post. |
"An order is hereby made directing the Respondents to appear before this court on Monday, the 21st of September, 2015 to show cause why the interim injunction sort by the Plaintiff/Applicant should not be made by the Court"Now, this does not sound like the court had explicitly halted Saraki's trial. To my understanding, the court has simply informed the CCB that Saraki has filed for an injunction, so they (CCB) should come on Monday and convince the court why the injunction should not be made. In the meantime, Saraki will be expected to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal today to answer questions. The CCB will then go to court on Monday to show why that frivolous injunction should be struck out. Our media is either outright mischievous, incompetent or just dumb. Lawyers in the house, please provide more perspective. |
I am a big fan of people who have the courage to challenge conventional wisdom. They may not always be right but they are largely responsible scientific breakthroughs we currently enjoy. But, is this dude married? |
Mr. Vice President, that has been said so many times it has now become a cliche. Please what we want to hear is what you are doing about it. Get us a cabinet and a sound Economic Team ASAP and start rolling out your policies. Honeymoon is over pal. |
The Chess Game is getting interesting with each maneuver. Saraki proving he's no push over. However, whether it's a TKO or he fight till Round 12, he will surely be defeated. |
Ilekeh:Easy bro...you could easily spark a tribal war with that comment. |
Not impressive, if you ask me. The expectations are so high the president should be hitting 80% approval rating. |
Please, you people should just respect yourselves. Last time I checked, Ministerial appointment is not on the Concurrent List. There is a lot in your states to worry about. Most of you have not even appointed your commissioners and you are here jostling to appoint only 1 person to federal cabinet. Baba does not need any distractions right now. He doesn't appoint your commissioners for you. |
Nigeria always very low on development statistics. Giant of Africa indeed! |
GlorifiedTunde:So, all Tithe payers are rich? How about all the rich atheists and people of other religions. Emancipate yourself from mental slavery bro. Tithe payers are the poorest. |
The president needs a competent Economic Team to properly articulate, communicate and implement the Economic Agenda of government. Investors are currently "sitting on their hands" and will only make financial commitments when it is clear to them which trajectory the government is going. The Paradigm Shift is OK, but it needs to be clear in specific terms how government intends to go about it. |

If joining the Index had benefits, then exiting the Index will no doubt have consequences. |
“The ministers are there, I think, to make a lot of noise; for the politicians to make a lot of noise......So I think this question of ministers is political. People from different constituencies want to see their people directly in government, and see what they can get out of it... "PMB was probably reacting to all the NOISE from politicians about appointing Ministers, not necessarily to undermine their role. In any case, some Ministers are actually Noise Makers. |
Hello Boss, this is just to prove to you that we are on your case, and in the fullness of time...you shall be brought to account for your evil deeds. You can run but you can't hide, Boss. |
mrvitalis:The major problem is the witless mods who keep pushing his articles to FP. |
