PhonesRe: All DATA USERS, WAKE UP (CAMPAIGN FOR FAIRNESS) by bibe(m): 9:46am On Jul 21, 2013
feranchek78: wow! very enlightening. neva knew dis b4. if all wahy u just said is true, den I think iOS and AOS shld creat a new os daht compresses data just like blackberry does.
Ur welkom. Its not really an OS issue per say. For example, type 0.facebook.com and u'd access fb even without subscribing to data plan but at a stripped down experience. This is because FB has an agreement with telecomm operators for that and thus "subsidizes" for you to access the link.
Its pretty much same what BB has done with its BIS/BBC offering. Hence they actually subsidise for those bandwidths u get at low cost (either by cash or hardware support eg server hosting compression) that's why they seem cheap.
The frustration shud be vented towards google/Apple more than towards the telecomm operators.
They have given u their own data plan offerings, if you don't like it u might as well stick to bb and utilise their own data offerings for now while we wait for more improvements to the data offerings.

Mogenerous: You need to be enlightened dear
oh im very much enlightened.
but on this one like i said, you shud really go do ur homework on that lest u make urselves look lyk fools to the NCC.
PhonesRe: All DATA USERS, WAKE UP (CAMPAIGN FOR FAIRNESS) by bibe(m): 1:18pm On Jul 19, 2013
I suggest you all shud go and do a lil homework on how these networks cost their data plans.
As for BB data plans (BIS/BBC) ot might interest you to know that they come cheap because, BBerry formerly known as RIM have servers dedicated for that, and also handles the traffic and compression hence, it doesnt cost MTN, GLO, AIRTEL much on their bandwidth.
Rather you shud go vent ur frustration at Apple and Google etc to come up with same solution as blackberry has done.
Nemo dat quod non habet. u cant expect our telecomm operators to give what they dont have.
They really havent got very gud business climate down here especially when it comes to power and vandalisation... etc
Of course they can give u 10gb for 10naira, thats very much possible dont get me wrong but dey dont have the hardware necessary to handle all that traffic except u wudnt mind starring at ur screen for 5mins while waiting for google.com to open.
hence the pricing is sort of a deterrent if u'd lyk to call it that restricting you from say... unwarranted youtube streaming

There aren't really any black dots, what u see is an illusion.
Its an optical illusion.

heryyy: What's the problem? The continent of Africa and all countries located on it are run by mob rule. Expect human mob vultures at any site of devastation in Africa. The lack of coordination in securing the crash site, search for survivors, identifying the dead, and retrieving their bodies is a concept unknown in Nigeria. This is a normal occurance, will continue to happen, and is normal when 20th century tools are introduced into 15th century mindsets. All governments in Africa have had more than enough time to stabilize since colonial powers left over 60 years ago...but haven't. True greed and corruption have created what we are witnessing here. Sad.
21st century u mean to say... grin

PhonesRe: Android Vs Symbian Phones, Which Is Better? by bibe(m): 10:03pm On May 31, 2012
Joe50: wanted to create a threat like this... Tanx any way.

Please Nl between symbian 3rd edition and lastest andiod which is better? Especially battery lasting and browsing fastness plus data consumption and durability.

Am currently using Nokia E71 and planning to switch to andiod.

Pls help.
i havent fiddled with the latest android os which is ICS yey. but generally android compared to the "symbian belle" based on the points u just noted being browsing, battery, data efficiency and durability....,
id say the belle is better at data efficiency and battery (resource use).
as for browser, they have a relative performance (regards to processor and ram) and as dor durability... thats up for the hardware.
but android has got one thing going for it and thats apps. plus nokia is going to be pulling the support plug on symbian come 2016 according to an press release last year.
so there it is... u decide for ursef.

Beaf: Absolute crap!
Are reeling out physics as discussed by native doctors?
How is it possible to talk such utter rubbish with so much confidence?
maybe this ought to clear your ignorance.

see how comparative the price and performance is before you condescend on one so informed as me...

henryskywalker2003: i beg to differ on you above point about android less than ICS not being good looking. I suppose you haven't come across much except the one u use. Else, can you tell me how ugly sony ericsson xperia range (pro, ray, arc etc) are gui-wise. They all run gingerbread and froyo in some cases yet there gui are slick and don't even get me talking about the HTC brands.
i understand HTC SENSE which is the name of the skin they apply on their android interface might be good lucking but i was only generalising.
plus my point wasnt only on the GUI part....

i was scrutinising the post to see what the lumens and scatter angle of this *change our life and save energy* 10watt light bulb but couldnt find it anywhere.
cos from my research, this cheapos produce far less lumen and scatter angle compared to the traditional incandescent bulb.
LED bulbs of matching capabilities are kinda costly around $30-$40.
am afraid things are about to get more #DIM.
PoliticsRe: Wole Soyinka Opposes UNILAG/MAU Renaming by bibe(m): 8:36am On May 31, 2012
odumorun 1: I strongly disagree with Wole Soyinka on this.

The furore regarding the renaming of Unilag is elitist posturing of the worst kind, dressed up in the garb of democratic protestation. This has nothing to do with anger that the council of the university was not consulted. The university and its senate and governing council do not fund the school. The school is funded by the federal government from the federal purse representing millions of hardworking Nigerians most of whose kids will never enjoy the benfit of a university education let alone a prestigious one like Unilag.

The storm in a tea cup is another example of middle class Nigerians, particularly yoruba ones (the most snobbish and self regarding version and yes i am a Yoruba) refusing to be associated with a person largely revered by the poorer classes. The same happened when Uiversity of Ife was renamed in 1987 in honour of Obafemi Awolowo, when a few hundred students largely of middle class origin demonstrated their objection, while the poor people in the town, carpentars, shoe makers, tailors and others who benefited from awo's reforms celebrated.

This is all about a few priviledged and educated yoruba people wanting to retain what they see as an eleitis label placing them apart from the majority of the population whom they secretly despise. If the school had been named after Barack Obama would they be protesting, even if it was done without consultation - Of course they wouldn't - they'll probably be fantasising about getting an easy visa ride in the American embassy.

Wole Soyinka is a radical and progressive Nigerian but his elitism is a well known flaw which is why he has never inspite of his undoubted courage been able to buod a mass following for his ideas.

Unilag is funded by the majority of the people of this country, not the students or their lecturers. Most ordiany Nigerians respect the sacrifices people like abiola made - they, not the spolit middle class kids kicking up a fuss in Unilag are the majority. The noisy minority in Unilag should be ignored. they will son go back to their Ipads

If they don't like the name when they receive their degrees let them rip them up. They don't own the school, the people do -i've not seen any demonstrations in mushin, shomolu, bere or sabongari against it.

If wole is not happy let him write a poem about his fury. He is a great man, but on this occasion he is wrong
and who is the purpoted federal government u talk about?
arent they meant to carry out peoples demands? and if they are, i see no reason why they impose without consulting the very people they SERVE!
but then again... they dont serve and that the problem with our democracy.
they impose.
PhonesRe: Best Android Phone For A Blackberry User? by bibe(m): 4:45pm On May 30, 2012
well am a blackberry+android user, am using bold 9790+samsung galaxyS. i use the android mostly for multimedia purpose especially video when am travelling.
but i really wudnt recommend android device especially those of lower OS than ICS (i.e android 4.x) cos the are all not very efficient at managing resources especially battery life which is very significant when u use them for data purposes and also not that gud luking GUI-wise.
personally, i wanna switch to windows phone devices but since ur concerned about cost, i wud recommend the nokia 603. its priced at 35k while the galaxy s is around 48k. plus its got a comparable spec to the galaxy s. the only difference being the storage capacity as the galaxy s comes with 8gb inbuilt but 5.7gb user accessibility.
i hope this information helps.
PhonesRe: MTN: Unlimited Download Doesnt Work Again by bibe(m): 6:41am On Apr 14, 2012
MTN BBC complete plan isn't capped at 200MB, cos I've been using it and I swear I download more than 3GB worth of data each time. Its not capped otherwise u'd have means to check ur data balance which aint present. Even a customer care agent confirmed this to me.
I only switched to glo this month cos admittedly MTN were ailing with their BB internet services.
