He will be a bigger thief than the orji's,, don't expect instant development in abia just yet,, Alex otti has contested for three times now,, and he finally gets it,, he will use his first tenure to recoup all the money he lost previously,, that is how politics is works in Nigeria,, know this earlier and know peace in future when it starts happening

Nope he won first time out on the platform of APGA in 2015 but they used the exact same strategy the wanted to use again now, same obingwa to rig him out. This time bvas came to rescue in exposing the true number is accredited voters.

Obis performance in APGA made it a very formidable party between 2007-2015. Even Rocha's Okorocha was able to unseat an incumbent PDP governor in Imo state in 2011, running on the platform of APGA. Obis goodwill in the South East is very strong due to his stewardship in Anambra and also as chairman SE governors forum in those years despite being the only one among them in an opposition party #APGA.

Rubbish.
This is bullshit. I hate it when a person talks as if he is better than others or he would have done better if he were to be the one. Which one is 'it was avoidable'? Thank God he is not our president.

If you understand the principle of hazard and risk prevention then you'll understand that things like these are preventable.
It goes thus;

E- Elimination
S- Substitution
I- Isolation
E- Engineering
A- Administrative
P- Personal Protective Equipment

In this case Engineering applies.
A simple use of engineering system like boom gate and warning signals would have prevented this occurrence. When a train is approaching such intersections, the warning signals will go off and the boom gate will close cutting off access to the rail tracks.

That's where government comes in. Drafting regulations and ensuring such systems are in place.

How? People should stop making statements just to score political points.

Obi is my man but let's be real. Can you control a stubborn or drunk driver? These BRT bus drivers drive like they own the road. Same applies to container carrier drivers and all those lorry drivers.
They just want to oppress and intimidate others with smaller vehicles.

There is a limit to what the government can do, we as individuals should learn to do better.

Very true !!!!

PO has caused a deep divide across Religious line!!

You now see Christians and Pastors cursing anyhow!!

Cos democracy is built on representation. Why do you have senators and HOR members? DIVERSITY REPRESENTATION!
If you seek to foster unity then you should also embrace representation of the country's diversity in your ticket.
APC ticket lacked diversity so it's not uncommon to have those not represented to vote against it. Your principal openly said he made his pick only to win election implying it wasn't to accommodate diversity. His own party members left on that accord.
However LP ticket embraced diversity and unlike other parties constantly admonished the citizens against tribalism and religious sentiment.

Simple answer.. TRIBALISM!!

Awalokan mentality of the Igbos is why they are all rooting for Obi, nothing else.

And the Afenifere are tribalists as well? I think not.
The answer is competence, character, capacity, compassion and commitment.
BAT is mentally and physically unfit to preside over Nigeria, simple.

It's my Yoruba people I'll advise to play smart..

In the event that Atiku wins... The South East will declare support for an Atiku presidency out of glee that Tinubu and Yorubas lost. They will forget their igbo presidency or biafra or death rants just like they have forgotten Kanu in detention.

The South West on the other hand will have mixed reactions and likely start protests against another Fulani North president..

The Yorubas have principle but sadly, Igbos don't.. It's anywhere belle face for them (no offense).

Yoruba ronu!

Stay woke and be wise.

You're weak, that's why you hide under ethnic garment to air your views.
Yorubas have principle? Yes I agree, Afenifere has principles but BAT has none.
Igbos? No one is as principled as them and they've paid dearly for it time and time again.
Who spearhead inec the conducted best ever elections in Nigeria in 93, an Igbo man.
Who stepped down for the west in 99 to compensate the west for Abiola, an Igbo man.
They voted for the same westerner against the almighty Ojukwu and did not vote for the disaster that is Buhari despite the fact that he picked their sons twice cos they knew he lacked competence.
Igbos have always stood on the side of justice and fairness even against their own.
However their principle is always hinged on character and competence, equity and justice and that is the principle driving their support for their son.
Ever wondered why the same Igbos everyone said are never united are united under one man?

OldNairalander:
As a grassroot Nigerian politician, my greatest doubt about OBI's Presidency was the powerful Igbophobic media propaganda of the West on Peter OBI.
Without doubt, the West is very powerful in media propaganda (ask Jonathan) and the Igbophobic one is an easy sell considering the level of ignorance in Nigeria.
I don't know how OBi did it but to my greatest shock, He won the Igbophobic propaganda war . I truly respect his highly celebral campaign team and most importantly Ahmed Datti that broke all the Igbophobic chains they tied OBi with in the North.

The moment it became clear to me that OBi have won the Igbophobic propaganda war, that was when I knew He is the next President.
As far as I'm concerned, OBi won 2023 Presidential election in December 2022

The secret was social media. Obdidients dominated it and we're quick to fact check all propaganda.
Social media was where the war was won for PO and lost for BAT and Atiku. PO has far more influencers on his side and very angry and available SM trolls who didn't waste time to put detractors in their place.

Soludo exposed all!

😅🤣😂

Stale lies. The records are there, he PO was the first governor to do poverty mapping in his state in Nigeria in 2010, and following that, worked to reduce it to one of the lowest in Nigeria as at 2014.
By 2019 it was rated the lowest. Soludo exposed himself not PO. Anambra did not request nor receive bailout funds like other states in 2015/2016 on account of PO prudent management of the states resources.

Praktikals:

Deh Play.

When a party deviates from the ideals he shares, he leaves.
He left PDP and joined APGA at the behest of Anambrarians seeking their states salvation from PDP godfathers and ended their atrocities.
While in APGA Jonathan took a liking to him and wanted him to come to PDP as he needed him, rumors started swirling that he would leave APGA, to calm nerves, he said he won't leave APGA as long as he remained the governor.
However, the party officials were unhappy as money was not flowing to their pockets as he refused to play transactional politics. So as his second tenure started to wind up, they started to scheme against him, they refused to accept his recommended successor Oseloka Obaze and wanted Obiano instead.
The rest is history. Obiano would eventually become a disaster in Anambra state.
Obi returned to PDP at the behest of GEJ. PDP failed in the 2015 elections but he remained. PDP would refuse to change their ways and he left yet again. His words, "I'll rather lose doing the right thing than win doing the wrong thing" That's integrity!

Fergie you see this 2023 elections ba, God hand dey am.

I just can't understand what's going on. The level of confusion in the ruling party, and the challenges in the main opposition just makes it look like an unseen hand is behind all these honestly.

President is campaigning for BAT in public, and shaving him behind the scenes. BATs camp has come out guns blazing attacking the president, while the opposition is backing the president. G5 is scattering PDP chances in the south, while they themselves are scattered within (Ortom just publicly endorsed PO and has joined the masses in shouting Obi Obi Obi). The other members of G5 don't know where to run to as we speak.

Only one man, Peter Obi, Okwute ndigbo, Okwute Nigeria gburu gburu has got his acts together, and is sailing gradually and steadily in the midst of the whole confusion towards the prize.

Oluwa appears to be involved.

I am perceiving the advent of a new era in Nigeria.

May the good Lord bring it to fulfillment.

And PO prophesized it as evidenced in Soludos letter against him, that APC will scatter.

Except you live under a rock, they first worked with the Igbos. Infact Zik had to give up power to keep them in Nigeria. The East under Zik gave up a lot to make the North feel accommodated in the negotiations for Independence. Go and read up the politics pre-independence. Up until 1966, they worked with Igbos and then turned to the west after 1966.

The issue at hand now is that having bitten the hand of the East (for which they fear retribution) and seeing that the West alliance hasn't paid off as they expected, they are now in limbo and have decided to go on self preservation mode.

Surely, Obi will win this election. I was in Gwoza, Borno State today, there was no single poster of Obi in hilly rural of Gwoza in sight, but an Obidient I met there told me confidently that they will pull a surprise. Obidients here and many parts of the North are quiet but have Obi's poster engraved in their mind. They're die hard Obidients. Of course there are quiet because they don't want to be persecuted by tribalists and religion fanatics. They are quietly engaging grassroot mobilizations.

True on that. The number of voters in the North that has chosen not to disclose who they are voting for is very substantial and we know they aren't voting for PDAPC. Also the number that are "undecided" are substantial as well.

Stop being myopic as there's no nation which only saviour is one man.

Many of you guys his supporters hyped this man as if it's not this mediocre Obi that governed Anambra state for 8Yrs.

In all honesty, do we want Nigeria of today to be administered the way Obi governed Anambra state? If we want that then Nigeria and Nigerians has a long wait to get to the ideal destination we'd hope for.

Yes why not?
He made it the most secure state in Nigeria, took it to number 1 in basic education in Nigeria, improved healthcare and got recognition for it, improved infrastructure and got recognition for it by the minister of works adjudging the state the to have the best network of roads (rural and urban) in Nigeria, paid stipends to the elderly every month, cleared pensions and gratuity dating back to the military era and totalling 32 billion naira, no one was oppressed, ended godfatherism in Anambra state, cleared debts and left 156million dollars and 30 billion naira for the state.

What's most mind buggling is that he achieved all these without borrowing 1kobo and has not asked for ridiculous pensions like emi lokan and the rest of them.

APC came into power and complained for 4 years about no savings by the PDP and now they are leaving 77 trillion debt.

So yes, Nigeria needs to be governed the way he governed Anambra.

This same APC government came in and lamented more than Jeremiah for 4 straight years about how PDP left no savings.

I don't understand this Obi's philosophy of saving 150 million dollars in Anambra state when people were hungry and jobless, and infrastructure deplorable.

If he replicates that philosophy as president, the military could chase him out in a coup.

Hungry and jobless by what measure?

He cleared 32 billion naira owed in gratuity and pensions dating back to the military era.

He was the first governor to do poverty mapping in Nigeria (which resulted in the jump in poverty that Soludo was using to demarket him) and with that result he went to work by connecting all communities by building roads to aid their economic activities and also paid a stipend of about #10,000 to every resident in Anambra older than 70 years.

He took the burden off parents by ensuring basic education (primary and secondary), taking the state from one of the worst to the best in the country. Till date people will rather send their wards to public schools in Anambra than private schools.

He revamped public healthcare and made it top in the country.

He improved security and made Anambra the safest in Nigeria for the years 2009-2014 when he left office.

He did all these while never borrowing a kobo, clearing debts incurred by the state, making investments for the future generation of the state and leaving behind $150 million dollars and 32 billion naira for it's citizenry.

If this is the definition of stinginess then I'd say it's exactly what Nigeria needs.

This same APC wailed to the high heavens that PDP didn't save money, and now they wail that someone saved money.
