Oluti: You all got it wrong. Let's first dispatch all our present tormentors to the great beyond like Jerry did in Ghana and all our problems will be solved. The ones coming after them will be too scared to touch talk less of carting our money to Switzerland. O pari. Oluti, this would present a problem in the interim, the list might be quite heavier than you envisage and no one like to lose a loved one! so the extermination would obviously become compromised! There are however other options! |

Jakumo: In many suburban areas throughout the civilised world, local ordinances prohibit gardeners in residential areas from starting up their lawn mowers before 10 am in the morning, to ensure that early morning hours are not encroached upon by noise pollution, and a visit from the sheriff's department would be assured if one neighbor's rowdy party forces another to pick up the phone to file a nuisance complaint.
In Nigeria, where most normal conversation is conducted at painfully loud volume levels, the very concept of noise pollution" is entirely alien. Mosques fire up nuclear-powered megaphones before dawn to instantly awaken all but the comatose with screeched calls to prayer, while churches conduct "night vigils" characterised by highly amplified prayer and out-of-tune song-fests loud enough to wake the dead. Providing ambient background accompaniment to those grating audio assaults is the constant, unrelenting drone of electricity generators every few yards, since the absence of grid electricity ensures that most inhabited buildings run a cacophony of rattling, smoke-belching generators, needed to power all amenities including the extraction of drinking water from wells and boreholes in a land with no municipal water networks.
By generously applying his boot to the buttocks of a few noise-monger churches in Lagos State, Governor Fashola has once again demonstrated his determination to drag his constituency kicking and screaming into the 21st century. By evicting noise-making churches from the communities they terrorise in Lagos State, Fashola confirms his absolute respect for the truism that a good night's sleep is VITAL to the health of all human beings and the societies in which they reside. To shake off accusations of preferential treatment, future President Fashola of Nigeria should serve eviction notices to any mosques that similarly assault the the public's ears. I guess that point has been clearly proven by the quality (or lack) of contribution to this thread by several individuals who have decided to remain adamant in their opinion that this is a religious issue! I am appalled each time i see religious institutions mount big weapons of noise pollution a.k.a megaphones atop their building, i wonder if they are trying to shout God to submission? |

Becomerich, this is absurd! From your humiliation of the English language to your everlasting rambling on non-issues you have set yourself atop the list once again! You know why you fall easy prey? Because you never stop to take in what the other poster says! Your myopic pan-yoruba ideologies have blinded you to the stark realities of modern day politics! I know i am actually wasting my time attempting to draw you back to sanity but i just have to try! |
