I see stupidity knows no bounds. Most comments are good, but I see the ignorance is alive and well. Kenezi, the website you posted is from 1999. Show something relevant to today. I can pull stuff off the web that disproves your nonsense. Bidemi12, you're another one. I went college, got a degree in business administration, and most of the black grduates in my class were from the USA. It's obvious you get your dumb views from what you see in the media or a few individuals that are bad apples. Guess what? One individual's actions does not determine the actions of a group. I guess you like to have a holier-than-thou attitude. Evilspirit, your username rings true because you are evil. Hate, no matter the excuse, is evil and anybody who has hate is evil. You talk about morals while at the same time you have hate in your heart. I smell a hypocrite. Smile11s, you're truly silly. Every group on this planet have a culture. Yes, this includes AAs. Why is it you think hip-hop music is the only music AAs created? Jazz music, house music, rock and roll, blues, doo-wop - they're AA music, too.
Another moronic Nigerian post. Obviously I am not saying all AA’s are not educated or don’t want it but we are talking about percentages here. (I am already getting a migraine from replying this reeetard) from your post you should be a teenager so I am not surprised that you find nothing wrong with the vast majority who prance around with sagging pants and oversized jackets. Or is it that you basically allowed yourself to pass through the system and not the system passing through you? A common trait among Nigerians abroad. They notice nothing and only hustle for the day they go back home to announce their “arrival”. And from your information we are not talking about other groups, we are talking about AA’s. If you want to discuss other groups, let’s say . . . . . . Nigerians, please open a new thread and we will have millions to talk about. MOORROOONNN…I don’t even know why I am replying him with his disjointed post. I never mentioned that hip hop is bad but used it as a reference to the over indulgence of AA’s to nothing but frivolous distractions. What a dunce. Better go get a refund from whatever college you went to. . . . .you obviously were cheated.

First of all I really really really hate that word "akata". It has the same connotation as n*igger to me. Just something for us to think about. Those of us with children here in the US. Do you think that people will separate your children from any other African American? At the end of the day your children are African American. No matter how you try to break it down.
you know i never really thought of that bolded statement before. My kids will one day be labelled an "akata" one day. Hmmmmm. . . . food for thought. Anyway, my thoughts about  the ethnic african american is that they are completely hopeless and useless. Their whole concept of life is dwelling on R&B and having their pants slightly below the buttocks. for example, i never fully understood the role govt play or rather should play concerning education until i came to america. The govt does everything it can to sponsor your education to the fullest level through scholarships, grants and if you choose, the military. With all these largesse you find that most AA’s are reluctant to take advantage of these programmes and If they do sign up they ollect the grant and drop out of school when the check is their mail and wait for the next session to start the process again. I have never had the need to have an AA friend, you can never learn anything positive from them aside how to club, converse obnoxiously and wear oversized clothes. Also, their cries of being brought here against their will is enough. Sure they had a hard time but the America of today has compensated more than enough for those decades of transgressions. They just won’t take advantage of all the opportunities abound to them. Fracking lazy people.  Should just call them Africans instead of African Americans.

Job Security is SLAVERY AND IMPRISONMENT.

It is Job behind Bars. Like puting a limit to human destiny.

Some people still hunt for PENSIONABLE JOBS IN THIS INFORMATION AND SPACE AGE!

Job Security is a little better than Bankruptcy.

Liberty is better. To be free is better than to be behind bars or in Jail.

Work Liberty is better than Job Security.
And all that you have written makes sense right? GOD!!!

As an employer of labour: providing goods and services that people will always need, e.g Bill Gates's microsoft. As an employee: equiping yourself with all the necessary tools required to guarantee your job or migrate to other jobs when the time comes, e.g solid educational background or technical craft. the problem in the case of the latter is as human beings are too fracking lazy and are too comfortable in our situation. once we achieve what we consider as success or achievement we tend to let the foot of the gas and relax forgeting the world is fast paced and constantly moving. personaly i have noticed that the world is/has moved totaly towards technology which has prompted my desire to start a bachelors degree programme in computer science this spring. And guess what? i am 40 years old so it is never too late to aspire for more. Also the army pays for everything with a smile.  grin i wonder when the nigerian government will see that part of our success as a nation is linked to qaulitative education. fracking country. anyway back to the topic. In the case of an employer of labour it is just too damned hard to be one, not everyone is cut out to be an enterprenuer. but if you decide to drive towards that route then for God's sake please pick an industry people need.

9jauk:
The global crisis is affecting the MENAP region through three indirect channels. First, the sharp drop in oil prices is shrinking revenues for oil exporters but also import costs for oil importers. Second, the contraction in global demand and trade is lowering export, tourism, and remittances receipts. And third, the tightening of international credit markets and lower investor appetite for risk are reducing asset prices and slowing down investment and capital inflows.
The domino effect has certainly been the talk about town when it comes to global affairs as the one thing concerning governments around the world was the spill over from Egypt into the rest of the Arab world. While western governments openly praise the people's choice to rise up in the face of dictatorship and cry out for democracy, there is undoubtedly a feeling that with the current economic sentiment, there will be an immediate short term impact.

Are you going to answer the questions or do you think attacking my person for what you have no clue of wins you this one?

I mean it is one thing to have a direct issue with Bakare, but when you come in, with NO CLUE, and try instead to attack him using Bible verses, be sure someone like me will call you out on that one. You admitted you are no born again but proceeded to EDUCATE those of us who actually cling to the beliefs expressed in the book, and you think attacking my person will validate your claims?
Just woke up, now i have your time. Me not being a born again does not mean i am not a christian. I just choose not to decieve myself when i know i have sin in my life still. which means i might probably know more of the bible than you do. I have already given you the explanation to the quote why dont you give yours instead of calling mine "a load of crock". Also for your information Jesus is God's son right, dont you think if he had wanted to he would have overthrown the romans and freed the jews from their shackles? Jesus never got into politics which was what ticked the people of israel off. They expected a warrior/politician to help them economicaly and politicaly but Jesus came to solve our spiritual problems. Everything of this earth is temporary but your spiritual problems will haunt you for eternity. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul. . . . .Mathew 16:26. . . . . .Hence "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and unto God what is God's". Yeah it sucks but he already warned us that the way to salvation is narrow and rough to tough it out. I cant so I choose not to be called a born again for now. . . . . .

But, I am a Born again Christian and I think your analysis of what Jesus was saying in that verse is CROCK!!! lol

How do you EDUCATE people on something YOU YOURSELF are not a part of shocked shocked? I think that is my first problem with you EDUCATING ME. Secondly, How can Jesus deem POLITICS to be of the WORLD when the same God surrounded himself with POLITICIANS and TAX PAYERS and in the Old Testament God is seen appointing and taking down Politicians?

Contrary to what you believe there, I don't believe Politics itself IS a DIRTY Game. I have friends who are in politics here in the States, and when we hang and talk, I cannot but be proud of how they push to get things done even with all the walls they have to deal with more times than not.  I believe that people play dirty politics for self gain. I am not into politics here but even in my field, people play dirty politics -- I had to resign to working for myself cause I found I had little patience for much of the politics in the corporate world.

So back to this, how in the world did you get that verse to say what you have above?
You, born again? Year right. Tell us another one. With the kind of responses you’ve made on NL so far you sure have deceived a lot of us. Heard you were crazy, beginning to believe it.
Ps. . . . . . you don’t have to be born again to read and comprehend

Let me educate you, . . what Jesus was trying to tell the multitude and his disciples was that the things of the world will always corrupt you and it is best to distance ourselves from it but at the same time we have to live in it so try to partake of this world (like paying taxes which was the circumstance that brought up the quote in the first place) but focus more on GOD. DISCLAIMER. . . . .I am no born again. you and i know that politics is a dirty game so why would he want to swim in it?

@topic

Not necessarily, I have a friend from SE Asia who never dated and had an arranged marriage. They have a perfect family and is almost married for 2 decades. She says majority of their people have arranged marriage and surprisingly most of them are happy too.

I personally think courtship takes away that freshness from your marriage. Everything is predictable and there is nothing to look forward to when you know your partner in and out. If arranged marriages seem barbaric, it is best to keep the courtship period short.
Your friend in SE asia is the exception to the rule. courtship before marriage is like oxygen to life

There is no reason why the Internet should be a place where manners are lost and there is no law. Thats what my argument is. Should those who defame others on the web go scott free? Defamation is a jailable offence in the real World.
As for personalising it to the times I have spoken harshly about politicians, there is always cast iron backing evidence whether it has been Ibori, Buhari, Atiku, IBB etc, so I fear nothing.

What do you mean freedom of speech? Slander is and has always been a crime, why should it be different because it was done on the web? Same goes with making threats and similar. Nigerians in particular do not seem to realise that the law is just as powerful on the web as it is on the streets. This should be an effective eye opener, in fact there should be many more jailings as happens in Western countries.
By the way, Sule Lamido is right up there with Fashola as an effective governor who has worked miracles.
