Christianity EtcRe: Members Leave Latter Rain Church Over Pastor Bakare’s Failed Political Ambition by bidemi12(m): 11:28pm On May 08, 2011
texazzpete:
This is why we were pushing for CHANGE in the way things are done at the Federal level. That was the CHANGE Bakare represented.
The terrain of modern day Christianity is even as challenging as all that you described here. Yet you freely admit that there are 'Men of God' in Nigeria.
Unless the good men become involved in politics and bring their goodness to bear on the darkness, we will see no progress.
you forget, politics basicaly means compromise. Trying to satisfy everybody at the same time, telling white lies and so on and so forth. people dont like the hard truth. The word of God as it is in the bible is uncompromising. if it was, Jesus would have told the pharisees and saducees what they wanted to hear and focused more on freeing the istrealites from roman bondage. No one who represents God can stay untainted while involved in politics. The first lesson you learn is how to lie straight faced to millions of people. That alone goes against the tennents of the lord. you believe in the bible right? so you know that according to the bible the world is lost and all we can do is heed his words, recognise Jesus as the son of God and repent of our sins. No matter how much effort we put into the world it is still doomed. The job of our religious leaders is not to better our worldly circumstance but to prepare us for the coming of the lord. The road to heaven is supposed to be narrow, which means hard, frugal and filled with personal sacrifices, right? so why dont our pastors live that way? they are the total opposite. They are proud, boastful, extravagant and have little or no thought to flock. I am no born again but i am a struggling christian like many others. i have some degree of inteligence and i can read. So no pastor can pull the wool over my eyes.

Yeah, wisdom and balance were lacking but he had an overwhelming infussion of pride. And you know what happens before a fall. . . . .

I don't see anybody castigating those speaking against Tunde Bakare. Who are the unbelievers ? Muslims , Christians or Pagans ?. What is your belief ?. Are we God to decide who is holy , righteous or not. What is different from Bakare , Adeboye , Kumuyi , Oyedepo or Ashimolowo and more importantly who are we to judge any of them.
Ol'boy i am talking about his character perse. i cannot stand anyone who talks with both sides of his mouth. he talks about humility but lives flamboyantly. critisizes buhari and does a u-turn to run with him. claims to see the future of others but cannot see his own. my guy, the list goes on and on.

That people are worshiping there in the first place is a mystery to me. . . . . . . . .fake pastor. He can't even see his own future (prophecy) then how the hell will he be able to see Nigeria's. Anyway, the only reason Nigerians are so religious is because of poverty. when there is so much hunger, fear of the unknown and decay you have no choice but to rely on a higher power to take care of you and these baaastards know it. Thank God he lost. i wonder what would have become of Nigeria if they had won. An islamic extremist and a fake pastor; what a combination. At least we know with PDP we are going to hell slowly, but with BUHARI/BAKARE we would get there with the speed of light.

This guy's killing is too easy and brings a lot of doubt.

Those that were killed previously and were known to be inferior in rank to him were taken out by jet fighters with bomb. We all remember when Al-Zakawi (whatever his name) was killed, the guy was bombed to death. We all hear on the news daily that some militants / terrorist were killed in Pakistan by jet fighters with bombs on their location.
Why not Osama?

Why only 6 navy seals? (Probably cos they are so “super-power”)

We all know that taking the terrorist alive has being one of the intelligence goals so they can collect infos from them on how? who? why? where next? and all sort of learning to get from them. So why will they just execute the main man that can give the most of infos?

And if you all remember, there are pix or videos showing their bodies after or during their execution. Where is Osama’s? Why only Americans men that were involved in the killing and burial?

Someone pls let us know, if u live outside the U.S, and your country of residence is represented in Afghan, if they say on the media that they can confirm the killing or not, or just that they were told by the Americans about it.
Just asking huh  undecided
I will attempt to answer all your questions without insulting you (which is going to be hard considering the disjointed logic and lack of reasoning you potraid in your post).
1) America needed some sort of proof to show that osama was really dead and from past experience mass bombing always had bad collateral repercussions (from the press and civilian casualties) that they did not want to deal with again.
2) Navy seal teams are always small in number, never more than six. They are experts at sneaking in and out of bad situations.
3) The warrant on osama was dead or alive. Who’s to say the baaasstard did not have a suicide vest on at the time. If it was you would you take the chance?
4) Which country would want osama’s body for burial? You run the risk of his burial place becoming a shrine where lunatics and depraved people visit.

Lastly there are some things you cant lie about. It’s like me saying I am the president of Nigeria. Wont the real president stand up to counter me? To make it clearer for you to understand, if osama was not killed wont he come out with present day newspaper in hand to declare America as liers?

ol’boy wake up

@Kilode You dont need to wander afar to find the definition of  "a messenger of God" as used in the Bible! I even gave a few examples FROM THE BIBLE, in my former post.,.,, ,.as opposed to this your list of some  "20th century, modern-day, self proclaimed MOG " whose authority for the acquisition of that title, l can not honestly vouch for!

In case you miss it, go back to my Post and read again, the definition of "A Politician" and show me "one man" in The Bible, who fulfills that definition.

And again, the Bible did not ask us to wallow and die in ignorance but that we should "seek and search out the truth", so we can be free!
How can you then obey the Bible, in that context, if you cannot even ask QUESTIONS about issues that baffle you?

I am not for "insulting any Pastor" neither would l sanction the "gloating" over the misfortune of anyone, how much more Pastor Bakare! I do respect him a lot and my curiosity as to "What happened, that this has to happen", stems from my personal respect for him and his antecedents, over time. Asking "genuine questions" is an eternal right of any Christian or human for that matter. (if it was someone like Alao Akala that said these things, l'll probably hiss and pass it over! grin)
If you want to "Hero-worship" any Pastor, that is your choice and entitlement; feel free to close your eyes grin
Whats the story about being a joint author of the KJV? that was really funny l must say! cheesy

Thats aside, for now.

I cannot confirm this but anyone with access to the Punch Newspaper of this date can unearth it and verify the truth:

If these statements credited to Pastor Bakare are true and correct, a few questions still baffle me:
1.) By the spirit of God: When God says YES, so it will be. The spirit of God never deceives or say falsehood!

2.) This tall one: If the spirit of God has told Pastor Bakare earlier, that Buhari IS NOT PART OF THE NEW NIGERIA BUT THE DECAYING PART, why (and what) on earth would make Pastor Bakare to align with "this tall one"? WHY? he could have aligned with any other person (Say Ribadu, that was not mentioned by "the spirit of God", in that revelation). Why "this tall one" in particular?

3.)Was Pastor Bakare not aware that as a man of God, he cannot ignore revelations given to him by God? Is he not aware that those who ignored the word of God, as spoken by prophets like Isiah and Jeremiah, Samuel, e.t.c., paid dearly for it? While l will not stand and accuse him (because he must have his reasons and out of respect for him), he owes people like me (baby Christians) a lot of explanations as to what informed "his decision" to align with "this tall one". Why?

4.) On the other hand, if Pastor chose to "IGNORE" that revelation and align with "that tall one", was it a blatant act of disobedience to the spirit of God?
*Or Was it because he had  "prior knowledge" of whence come from, that prophecy, as not of the spirit of God?
5.) As someone who had built-up a very solid reputation for speaking out against Evil, in retrospect, what and how does he view the comments attributed to him, before the election? Does those comments edify God, Christ and all they stand for?
Did he, a man of God and Peace, a Doctorate degree holder, ask people who are generally prone to violence, to go to Polling stations with matches and Kerosine! (To vote or to burn?). What was he thinking for Christ's sake? I think the Devil mus be at work here shocked

6.) And why has he not come out to condemn the violence and commiserate with those who lost the fruit of their life's labor? (That is what a child whom you train to graduate level and release to serve your country, is, to the Parents!). Does he not feel for these unfortunate people or is it still about "Politics as usual"?
If "that tall one" feels no remorse and thinks the killings/violation/arson are justified, what about the man who has the spirit of God in him? Does the spirit tell him they are justified too?
There are loads of baffling questions surrounding these issues. many questions and NO ANSWERS,.,.,.,. yet! sad shocked cry

NIGERIA, WE HAIL THEE!
If i could i would shake your hand. there are only 2 people in Nairaland i would gladly do so for. Sagamite, kobojunkie and now you. It is refreshing to know that people who can display logic still exist in this hard times. especially when in nigeria, where hunger has taken hold and amnesia plus other serious ailments are the result.

There was nothing bad in Bakare opting for VP alongside Buhari and i'm very sure he did that due to the passion he had for a change in Nigeria.

But unfortunately, things turned out this way and i know he will be regretting right now,not because CPC lost but the crazy aftermath of the election.

I know Bakare, he is a man of integrity, there was nothing and i mean absolutely nothing wrong running for a political seat.

And for the ignorants, please understand that GOD has a hand in politics,he installs kings.
better go back to school. Never put KINGS and POLITICS in the same sentence to further you argument. kings are monarchs, they have nothing to do with politics. or where in the bible did you hear that saul, david or solomon for that matter had a manifesto and went campaigning for leadership of israel. they were installed by God, period.

Are you crazy?  With her status in Nollywood, she could shoot a film for say $30,000, and with the high turnover rate in Nollywood, I can see her shooting 20-30 in a year. The movie industry in Nigeria is till very primitive and not as stressful, she could be making 20x the amount she would be making as a nurse and still have time for her family.
She can always fly to the US every weekend or have her kids come stay with her in Lagos.
My point: Very senseless move on her part.
Na small pikin de do you. Senseless move indeed!!! For your information (cause i dont know where you are getting your stat's from) RN's on average make 90k per annum. And that is for the first 3 years in the proffession. The more experience you have the higher you are paid. Last year alone RN's with enough experience were making between 120 to 140k. I know this because my wife is one. she graduated last year and she's already making 76k annualy. I dont know about you, but that kind of salary in America or anywhere else for that matter no be joke. Regina has already paid her dueS, she has been there and done that, what makes you think she didn't go into this field for self fufillment. what makes you think she did not go into this field in order to gain more experience as foundation to set up a massive hospital in Nigera. and with the resources in america that would not be a problem. all she has to do is have good credit, walk into a bank and apply for a loan. whatever she makes financialy after then would dwarf any female artist in Nigeria. But at the same time Money is not everything you know. you have to ask yourself, HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?

"Now, ASK yourself: Did Jesus ever stand-up for elective office? Was his name EVER on the Ballot box?
Did prophet Jeremiah, despite his involvement in "Preaching the good news" to errant rulers EVER stand-up and put his name on a ballot box, and seek VOTES? NO!. Did he rule over some people, with their consent? NO!

@kobojunkie. . . . . I was never in support of bakare contesting this election, especially as a running mate to buhari. I believe he should have known better. Politics is a very dirty game especially in Nigeria where there are no rules. To succeed he would have had to decend to the same depraved level as those criminals in PDP and other parties. This is the main reason you and i were at drawn swords (toungues in this case) at one time. His credibility has been shot to hell. Like i said, he should have known better.

Clear evidence of how PDP has violated not only the country's finances but the people's will and hope. So much so that people are now envisioning PDP as the only way forward forgeting that they put the country in the depths of depravity in the first place. Have you ever heard of FAFSA? it is a programme that is there for everyone who wants to go to college. it is federaly funded such that your tuition and books are paid for by the government. if you desire to graduate quickly and take more classes per semester than the fafsa programme can cover, the government will loan you money which you start to repay 6 months after you graduate at a low interest rate. The point is the opportunities are there to excel. Can you say the same for Nigeria? I hope i have educated you. ignorance is a disease that only you can cure.

Bad belle people. It always amazes me that people who want something but cant have it always wish those who do bad tidings or hope for the worst for them. I love and miss Nigeria big time but nothing will make me settle back there anytime soon. I have to be demented to do that with all the crap going on right there at the moment. The economy is not as robost as it used to be right? so what do you do about it? do you fold your arms and cry over it? Never!!! one thing you'all dont realize is that america is truly the land of opportunities. for instance since i have realized that the recession affects only a certain part or the economy e.g those without adequate education or those that are educated but are educated in sectors that are irrelevant in present day and also that healthcare and technology is and has been projected to rise in the future i have gone back to college to get another degree in a different field: mobile application development; and my wife has just completed her LPN certification in order to stay relevant and all on the bill of the government. One penny will not come out for pocket. Tell me, will the Nigerian govt provide this avenues to me in order for me to suceed? You and i know that this is a negative. so why would i want to go to a place where politicaly, socialy and economicaly i will be limited?
