What exactly did he do wrong?

The last time I checked, "Obeying your superior" isnt a crime.

What is the difference between Al Mustapha and the young US marines sent to Iraq to liberate Iraqis?

Hint: They both killed sporadically, on the order of their superiors. Despite that, the US marines are treated as heros in their homeland. Why cant we do that to Al Mustapha. For crying out sake, he was the CSO at one time, he kept the president safe at all times, against, mostly ,enemies of the state. I see nothing wrong in that!
Kai!!!, take that back. Don’t you ever compare the military in Nigeria with the one’s in the US. When it’s your turn use the excuse that “my superior told me to do it” and see the result. Do you know how many soldiers are rotting away in Leavenworth right now who used that excuse? We are taught to question orders that go against the army values and my guy murder goes against it.
PoliticsRe: Al Mustapha Freed by bidemi12(m): 6:51pm On Dec 21, 2010
I am not against him being released since our impotent govt cannot prosecute him. it is wrong to incarserate someone for the sake of it. we know he did wrong but evidence must be produced, his cased judged and when found guilty put in jail or shot. For me, i have nightmares knowing that in nigeria, you can be picked up for any reason and put in jail indefinitely without justice taking course. Here's to al'mustafa's ambition to be president in the near future. knowing Nigerians, it is a high possiblity.

I understand your point and I am not in anyway saying we are having a jolly time here in Nigeria, but its not that bad and there is certainly room for improvement. What I have taken as an insult is roping Nigeria, sudan and somalia in the same category, that is flawed reasoning at best. I pointed out russia china and the middle east to show that we are not that far away and the problems are not unique to Nigeria. The Nigerian government bad as it is, is in total control of this country and that is the strongest indicator, no one cartel can hold a state ransom for instance. I mean how can you call on a failed state to help failed states in africa?
Quality of life may not be high in Nigeria, but I am sure its a lot better than other places and if it is not good enough lets us put people who are accountable to us in power. Simples!!
God see logic. Have you not been listening? As Nigerians we are too prone to deceiving ourselves. So because we offer peace missions, and dash out funds we cannot afford qualifies us not being a failed nation. That trait is a Nigerian trait, fake bigmanism, spending more that he can afford, purposely distracting its citizens from the real problems at home. Wait a minute, why is Nigeria so different from Somalia and sudan? Having peppersoup to eat at evening times does not qualify as development you know. In the case of sudan both have wars going on, both lack security, their electoral  machinery is flawed. Both cannot manage the oil that they possess. Their social infrastructure is decaying rapidly, both countries have thieves in govt, so pray tell why is Nigeria so different from sudan. Have you been to the Christian part of sudan? You would think you were in lagos or Abuja. I know this because I have Sudanese friends and I have seen pictures just like I have shown them pictures of Abuja to make them realize that Nigeria is not completely like the niger delta. So please tell me what is the difference?
PoliticsRe: Debate: Is Nigeria A Failed State? by bidemi12(m): 4:32pm On Dec 19, 2010
@Chrisbenogor, your rethoric to the layman would be close to intelligent but to people like us who obviously and truely intelligent, it would be a tough sell. Let me dismantle your so called logic step by step. Step 1, you agree there is decay on all levels of society right? so how can you trust the next man to follow through on his pledge to fight with you when the time comes? You don’t even trust people of different tribes in the so called error called Nigeria.
Step 2, if all levels of society has been corrupted where do you start from but from the beginning. And the beginning my friend-in-denial is from the future generation. Start teaching them what is right now so our future can be guaranteed.
Step 3, you claim violence is the answer I agree with you but not in Nigeria. Do you think I will trust my life to someone who does not know which way is up when holding an m16 or would desert me when shown cash. Like I said before violence is not strange to me but I would never trust a computer warrior when he is trying to lead me into one. Especially one from Nigeria where at the sound of gunfire would disappear like the wind. Believe me war sounds great until you are in it my bro. I have done two tours so I know what I am talking about.
In conclusion, we have no recourse but to resort to bringing up our children the right way to take over for the future because if they are as messed up as this generation is then the cycle will continue.

Your own Nigeria is a failed state, mine isn't, that's why i rather spend time correcting the lapses than sitting down, nagging and looking for more people to nag with.
I am not surprised. Denial is a disease rapidly spreading and has overtaken most people there.

If the votes are rigged, what stops you from protesting and revolting?
step 1 has been achieved by making you acknowledge that fact. step 2 then is to help you understand that the revolutionary route will not work. The average nigerian's mindset is too f.u.c.ked to make it work. i know, the next thought would be to say/think that i am coward. far from it. i risk my life on a daily basis for what i believe in. violence means nothing to me, i have been trained for it. but my training has also taught me that for violence to work i must trust the guy to my left and right and most importantly, the guy behind me. they should be able to cover me 360 degrees. Money and corruption has eroded our way of thinking so much so that the first sign of dollars the Protesters and revolutionalist would abandon ship. No, the way forward is to start from home. I mean from your home, with your children, the future generation. Ours is gone. Nothing can be done. Start teaching them what is right and they will not depart from it. Good morals has been thrown to the wind and it is time to bring it back. Distance them from words like egunje, settle and the like. Show them how to dispose of refuse properly at an early age. If they unwrap a piece of candy and there is no garbage site in the vicinity, then put the wrap in your pocket until you get home then dispose of it. Show them how to prepare a budget at an early age so they will be prepared for the future. Teach them what patience is. Rushing and fighting for position will not do. These are baby steps but they are strong foundations that will last forever. One person cannot do it. It must be a collective effort. This is the only way forward. Our children.

Yes, electricity is not constant, not because we cannot have a constant electricity, but because people like you are fond to always nag nag nag without any action, we all know why we don't have constant electricity (corruption from the few elite), yet we that are bearing the brunt have failed to act, we sit down, nag about all our problems without taking any action.

ELECTION IS COMING, VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT, if smaller & bigger countries could fix electricity for their own country, why can't we have the same? answer is corrupt leaders and weak followers who only know how to nag and whine, yet wouldn't act.
My brother, i dont know why you do not want to accept this simple truth. you and i know that our votes dont count. how can it when thugs can just highjack a poling station and the police are powerless to do anything about it. This is the reason why we have failed. when something is going wrong in a country, at least you are rest assured that you can change it with your vote, but not in Nigeria. How can you change anything when the electoral process is flawed. Plus, not to mention that the the police is impotent. what this means is you will have the same set of people ruling, much like what is happening in Nigeria. Soon we will become a monarchy. And with each decade that passes the rot becomes stronger and more aggressive so much so that Nigerian kids already understand words like, “egunje”, ‘’chop” “settle”. My guy we don fail pass fail. No it seems you are the one who does not understand what a dire situation is. This classic neo colonial way of thinking is what continues to haunt us, our democracy can never be like that of the west, we are a unique people and at our own pace we would get there. The atrocities committed in states like russia and china everyday would rival and even defeat that in Nigeria, no one holds anyone accountable in russia, putin has been in power since forever, how many places refer to them as a failed state? huh?
As for denial that is the real problem we have, are you going to come out with your family to at least try and kick the pdp out? Let us grow at our pace, corruption is part and parcel of our culture thats the sad truth. If the silly colonial masters had not put together this experiment we would not be in this much of a mess but still we have risen up and above and slowly we are celebrating more than ten years of democracy. It has not been easy but it would be worth it, all this suffer would pay off for our kids hopefully someday. Someday.
Like i said before. DENIAL. GOD DEY. E GO BETTER. "YOU ARE NOT PATRIOTIC ENOUGH" Did you even bother to read the link i posted? see what your president is saying about democracy.

I hope that Nigeria will never be a failed state. I am sorry, but I think only an enemy of Nigeria/Nigerians will wish that for this Country. Like Chrisbenogor said, it is because Nigeria is not/can not be a failed state that is why we have so many problems today. The threat of been a failed state is not what should motivate Nigerians to make the Country better, the suffering is already unbearable as it is.
If Nigeria becomes a failed state the suffering will be 100 times more than it is today, all neighboring Countries (if not the whole West Africa) will be affected. The Nigerian civil war will be child's play compared to it, Nigeria's population today is more than 3 times what it was then.
So I can't Imagine that a Nigerian will say/wish such for the Country.
it seems most of you do not understand the dire situation Nigerian is in. There is no foundation for development and i am not talking of infrastructure here. The mental and psychological decay in Nigeria is unbelievable. future generations have been scared beyond belief. what is an abomination elsewhere is the norm. Think about it. if someone you know contests an election and wins, the first thing that pops into the average nigerians head is "man, e don hammer". The thought that should pop up is "how do i make him/her accountable", (which should be norm) but we have been scarred psychologicaly to the extent that the thought is instinctive. Nigerians have accepted corruption as a way of life. Another problem is denial. the average nigerian hates the truth And will fight tooth and nail to live in denial with the excuse that “God dey” or “you are not patriotic enough”. Meanwhile his/her circumstance is worsening but prefers to turn a blind eye and keep “hope” alive. My Guy, the country is failing rapidly with the brakes gone. And to prove my point. . . . .http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/dec/18/national-18-12-2010-001.htm

I think everyone that has interest in getting the ACN ticket should be allowed to contest in the primaries. Giving Fashola automatic ticket is undemocratic. Remember, most people never knew who Fashola was until he became the flagbearer of AC in 2007.

You are right, after 24 months of even the first term, there was a lull in governance and it's still obvious now. I think Fashola should give credit to his commissioners. Every developmental program in Lagos is attributed to Fashola, forgetting that it has been in the pipeline since Tinubu's era. The BRT scheme was started by Tinubu with his creation of LAMATA, and Muiz Banire was the commissioner for transport then. The beautification of Lagos as well as waste management is under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, and who is the Commissioner? Banire. The Lekki Free Trade Zone already had a blueprint before Fashola became Governor, yet he goes about as if it was his idea.
Adams Oshiomoleh came to UI with only his car and no security.

And i wonder who identified Fashola, when it was obvious that he was d least expected to get the AC ticket in 2007. I know Muiz Banire as Commissioner for Transport under Tinubu, I never knew Fashola until he contested for Governor, so, how come he is the nurturer and Banire the nurturee, ?
I cannot see your point, believe me I have tried. Did tinubu not utilize the option of a second term ticket? Why is it so difficult to swallow the notion of same by fashola? No one is saying banire will not perform but fashola has the option and upperhand of contesting for a second term . Oshiomoleh came to UI with only his car and no security, does that make it any less risky for a public official? I pray, please tell me your point?

I ve been telling people since that this Muiz is the only person that can take lagos to new heights after fashola. .the guy is like a robot and never gets tired. once i went for an event at NIIA where he was the special guest of honor and he unbelievably drove himself into the venue in a busted toyota corrolla without any police or aides. . he had taken his seat among members of the crowd and had organizers panicking as to whether he would show or not until one of them spotted the young technocrat somewhere amongst the crowd possibly making changes to his speech.
Personally i dont agreethat he will hand over the treasury to tinubu. .there is now ekiti and osun so tinubu wil let lagos breathe a little and muiz will have funds and that undying energy to work and work for a newer and brighter lagos
my guy, all that one na circus act to make us believe he is humble. A politician is still a politician and can never be trusted. Personaly i think he was stupid to even do a thing. with the level of insecurity in nigeria why would he take such a risk? like it or not kidnappers are looking for anyone who can afford a million bucks. i still dont understand how that makes him a great leader. A great leader is one who identifies another leader and nutures him like fashola did with him.
PoliticsRe: Will Gov. Fashola Of Lagos Get 2nd Term Ticket? by bidemi12(m): 7:53am On Dec 15, 2010
@lagchick. . . . .you too much joo. but alas, a second term is the norm in politics all over the world. also fashola has broken barriers unheard of in Nigeria so i think muiz would probably have to wait. in as much as he has done great things as you claim, we have to agree that the hallmark of a great leader is the ability to identify talent, nuture it and let it roam free. considering the norm of Nigerian politics muiz would never have flourished except for the great leadership of fashola so we should give honor to whom honor is due. @fahola. . . . YOU ARE THE ONLY LIGHT OF HOPE SHINNING IN THAT CESSPOOL CALLED NIGERIA, SO YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT 150% AND THEN SOME.

1. If he's charged with Espionage, it means the cables are real
2. He's not insane and knew what he was getting himself into before doing that
