Their most powerful senator Dan Rostenkowski was sent to jail, Governor Ryan is still in jail and another governor is getting ready to go to jail so keep quiet about Chicago, you are not debating dummies.
Lastly, you do not know anything about Lagos state, educate yourself before running mouth and talking rubbish. The only infantile dolt here is the  slow and ignorant not-so-smart person who refused to the the most basic thing about accessing readily available public records,
What a dummie,
Again i have to educate the reetard. And how did the state find out that the governor stole funds? is it not through proper accountability? we all know that the lagos state government past and present are crooks but no proper audit has still be done to date, please correct me if i am wrong. I dont know why morons like yourself refuse to face facts and realities. well, it is the Nigerian way. turn a blind eye and pray to God that "e go better one day". yeah, e go better indeed. did you take my initial advice? your refund is pending.

I have to say i am in stitches after reading every post on this topic. I will attempt to give my opinion to the OP without (hopefully) stepping on the toes of the overly westernized and sensitive individuals we have on this forum.

"But, I want like for like, before tax." In order to get this, then the two environments must be comparable. There is a stark difference between UK work environment and Nigeria work environment. Short of a company recruiting you to move to Nigeria, why should they compensate you for said inconveniences? You are making this decision consciously right? grin"Also I am not one to be too particular on comforts, security though is a must." If this is true, why the need to be compensated for the absence of said comforts? My point is this, you are obviously aware of the Nigerian environment, yet you set unrealistic goals. Are you truly ready to relocate to Nigeria, or are you trying to find a reason not to relocate? If you really are ready, do your research, find out what the pay scale is in your profession in NIGERIA , not based on what you earn right now in a country with established labor laws.

Again, your question was a silly question? It was ignorant and irrational.I read your post. You claimed ignorance per what the state is doing with all the money it's collecting from the taxpayers. Going on and on about the quality of the state's services doesn't negate the fact that they are paying to keep the state agencies running, they are paying state teachers, civil service, vendors, funding roads and bridges, hospitals, clinics, water works and many more.Obviously, the state can not perform beyond it's financial means, expecting such is nothing but pipe dream and grand stupidity. Have you asked yourself who is constructing the best freeway system in Africa, with rail, BRT access?
I fit go on and on and on, just thank me for educating you,
Here we go again. i regret to say that you are using all of your faculties minus the the one that matters most. Please for God's sake this is too simple to comprehend. My question is DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IS COMING IN AS REVENUE AND HOW MUCH IS BEING SPENT? How is this difficult to understand?  if we do not know how much is coming in as revenue and exactly how much is being spent then how are we sure the funds are being used judiciously? When there is transparency we will be all too glad to pay any toll or tax levied by govt. but first lets do an audit for heavens sake. I lived in Chicago for years and anyone can tell you that it is one of the most highly taxed states in America. But we are all to glad to pay it because the finances of govt is public knowledge and we know how our funds are being managed. And if by your incoherent attempt to sound/look logical is your infantile way of schooling me on issues then I conclude that you have been defrauded by the institution you might claim to have passed through and are due a hefty refund.

How dare you recommend Jos as a place to which a returnee should move! Don't you know you are recommending a place that will cause him to die an untimely death? Don't you read about all the ethnic/religious skirmishes that occur in Jos, during which many innocent civilians have been killed. Don't you read the news?

very silly question, why not start by asking yourself who is paying the trash collectors, the street cleaners, the state workers, teachers, who is funding hospital construction, schools, clinics, roads, bridges, metro rail and many many more, please use your head, and the money the state is collecting from you is peanuts against the states over all responsibilities and 18 million people demand,
reeetard response as usual from a nairalander. trash collection that is non existent and epileptic where it exist. state workers that are owed wages months at a time. teachers? let me not even go there. hospitals that are no better than chemists. schools where students sit on rocks to recieve classes. bridges that might collapse anytime. metro rail? yeah right. My guy did you even read my post in the first place. can you honestly say how much is coming into the state treasury and how much is being spent? you dont know do you? neither do i so i want to know. Has there ever been a credible audit? please digest and respond intelligently.

Nigerians are cowards, Oyinbo people, Indians and  Arabs are coming in their droves to Nigeria. These same people are adjusting to Naija life with spouses and children.Surprisingly indigenous Nigerians based abroad are slagging off their own country ( country of birth and upbringing ) and too scared to come back. Now you see why whites make it big time, they take risk. The typical Nigerian man hates risk , but wants to make a quick buck.
what you do not understand is the "oyinbo" people you have mentioned understand what nigerians refuse to and accept. simple truth. if you want a country with no laws, where you can pretty much do whatever you want so long as you have the cash to back it up then nigeria is the country to go. In that kind of environment you can make some serious money. but at whose expense? do you think those "oyinbo's" will invest the proceeds of their original capital back into the economy? have you ever heard of capital flight. what do you think MTN and those big multinationals are doing to the economy? They are taking their profits back to their country of origin and gradualy scewing us dry. The govt knows this but cannot or will not do anything because of egunje. UP NIGERIA. why would i not want to go back for a while? but stay? hell no.

Get a job first before you go to Nigeria. Check the following website:
http://www.careersinafrica.com/summits/london
Better still, visit Nigeria alone (without your family) and take a look at Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt. Investigate job opportunities as well as business start-up opportunities.
It is easier to start a small business in Nigeria because no regulation to satisfy. Just start.
The bolded statement is enough reason not to even bother coming at all. can you read that? no regulations. that sums it all in one sentence because "no regulations" exists in all aspects of life in Nigeria.

certification ? lol grin grin grin

Every manliness and harry has certification these days, it means nothing here in the UK , except of course you do your CCIE etc etc.

What ? With the prevalence of test king and all these useless brain dump cheating material , even a baby can get certified nowadays grin grin grin grin grin

Anyway in my opinion Naija is home and I will choose home any day.

Is it armed robbers / well we have them here in the UK
Is it corruption ? it is here as well.

The whole world stinks of evil, only the righteous keep themselves pure, no matter where they are located.
My guy, no one is denying that crime does not exist all over the world but how can you compare the UK with what is happening in Nigeria? If your home gets burgled in the UK, aren’t you confident that when you call the cops they will arrive at least 30min later? Try doing same in Nigeria. Or can you compare the magnitude of decay in our political society in relation to the polity in the UK? If there is no difference in standard then what are you still doing over there. Deploy back home and let me know of your experiences. As for me, my best advice to the OP is ONE LEG IN AND ONE LEG OUT. Nigeria is not conducive at the moment for anyone who has tasted quality standard of life in the west, that is of course if you have millions stored somewhere that can make your life comfortable back in Nigeria. But from what I have realized from my numerous visits back home: NOTHING BEATS PEACE OF MIND. I don’t think I can survive in an environment where I have to barricade myself at night because of lack of security or bribe my way before I can have services that are my right. OP think well before you decide.

No, I am not saying that only local people from that particular area commit the crimes solely in their area, I was saying that it may be easier for the local policeman to perform his investigation better because of the language, tribal similarity etc, but of course places like Lagos, Jos and other big cities, that may not work.

And I do know that local, state, senators are looting their own people's allocated money, but if people felt that this is their taxes that this politicians are looting, they'll be more upset

Can we agree that it will be more difficult if you place a Tiv/Kanuri policeman who may not speak Yoruba and locate him to Iseyin to solve crime?
Agreed. that is why we need more indegenous policemen with local knowledge of their environs.

I still favour state police over what we have right now. Currently, there is no accountability, everybody wants the IG or the center to solve a local crime, a policeman from that particular area will or should have vested interest in development of his/her, but when you are far removed from that village, what do you care? I think it would be very hard for a Yoruba man to go and do kidnapping business in Abia without him sticking out like a sore thumbThe same as in corruption, most of the politicians feel that they have to steal with impunity and share in the national cake (oil) since the money is not coming of their constituent pockets
what logic!!! My God!!! you are talking as if only people from other tribes commit crimes in states other than their states of origin. and your post about politicians, pleeeaaaasssseeee. have you not been a witness to what our councilors and governors have been doing to people from their own states? My guy, i think you have stayed too long in the west and are far removed from the happenings and realities on ground in Nigeria. stay current for your own sake. The problem in the Nigeria is simple. The mentality of corruption has been cemented into our psychy and only God can save us now. State police will not solve anything. what is prevailent in the federal force will tripple with the adoption of state police.

No be by posting pictures oooo. it takes a lot more. have you considered how tribalistic and nepotistic nigerians are?

Al Mustafa is a threat though he made sure the likes of snicky Oseni didn't seize power rather he carefully engineered the ascension of Abdusalami( The most senior figure at that time) which berthed this fledgling demo-crazy. he is a hero of sort if i may say huh
