RomanceRe: Men And Women: Please Know Your Role In Life by bidemi12(m): 3:59pm On Jun 04, 2011
Much as i agree that we all have roles and that women are naturaly submissive to men, we should be careful not to take advantage of women. It's a patnership and a delicate one at that. it's even stated clearly in the bible.

Theblessed:
But, who is this Desmond, everyone should listen to?

??Intelligence, here! This man gets carried away by his emotion instead of common sense.  Is he in the marriage to know the all the details?

Well, I could see the reason for his imbalanced assessment of the incident - the Diplomat was hosting him/friends so, what do we expect? They say 'a dog does not bite the finger that fed him/her' abi? He hosted them, and in the process, Desmond obviously secured a few influencial new friends along the line, I suppose.

You see, people look after their own as result, morals get thrown out of the window. Imagine him condemning the Lady Diplomat on the basis of their daughters witness, eh!

Naturally, the daughter would side with her father and the whole world knows, daughters and their fathers click. I love my father to 'D' no matter what he's done, defending him in public any time but, wait till we get home!

I believe most daughter on Naira land would vouch the same kind of love for their fathers - it does not mean we don't love our mothers we do but, father/daughter relationship is naturally, special.
The same applies to mothers and their sons, too which seems to push them to the edge, when anyone dare abuse their mothers.

Also, in his assessment, Desmond forgot that the daughter looks after her own too -  there's an incentive there for her to support her dad instead of mum.  Daddy has all the family inheritance under his belt and can allocate them as he pleases, abi? She wants to get married one day, how about that big wedding? Who's gonna foot it?

So, do you want him to dis-inherit her for supporting her mother, in public in this issue?  Yes the kids might have insight into their parents marriage but, like most families, they all take sides.

Imagine the Diplomat admitted they had a heated arguement.  In our society, everyone knows when a husband and wife had such an argument, it usually ends with a b l a s h h h h and a black eye for the weak one - obviously, the lady but people don't understand the degree of damage that blash can cause the lady and, the entire family.

Like I have always said, instead of sitting or hovering around, listening to every l e t t e r that comes out of a woman's mouth, pick up your car key and drive off or cycle out, walk away from satan trying to destroy your family, through your rage.

Remember, when you go on to challenge your wife because, you did her a favour in marrying her, when every thing quietens down, your won't like the look of your own hand work, as this Diplomat is discovering now - an expensive way to find out! undecided

bottom line; dont put your hands on anybody. we are supposed to be civilised right? that kind of thing may be accepted in Nigeria (since there is no law anyway) but is frowned upon in other normal places (emphasis on normal). to make it worse she has a really torn and battered face as proof. i doubt any nigerian lady, especialy one who is/has tasted luxury would cut their face that deep to prove a point. Please think people. even if it was ten days before she went to the police nko? there is no statue of limitiation.
PoliticsRe: I Think Nairaland Has Been Tough On " Akala" Of Oyo State As He Bows Out Today by bidemi12(m): 6:19am On May 31, 2011
KnowAll:
Lets face facts here, nobody is saying Akala does not inflate contracts awarded, like the N20 million Naira spent on/per  " poo-holes" in Ibadan but one thing I would give him thumbs up for is he did not put the state in serious debt. He spent what was giving him with reckless abandoned but did not go "a borrowing" to spend what he does not have, that I call greed.

At the last count,

Gbenga Daniel's Ogun State is owing N49 Billion and nothing on the ground to show, haba undecided

Mallam Shekarau of Kano is owing N110 Billion and nothing to show too. This was a man who had only N100,000.00 in his account when he first ran for office. No wonder he fell out " Buhari"  Ole jati jati- bloooody thief.

Fashola N154 Billion at least we are seeing the money spent albeit it at a very high and inflated rate. Does Lagos really have to borrow?  undecided

Governor Oni of Ekiti State gave out spurious contracts worth over N5 billion, I am not too sure wether it was borrowed money or the state money.  huh

There are others, can you guys on Nairaland furnish us with the other debtors leaving power, at times I wonder why would any sensible  credit institution borrow a broke and poor state like Ogun State N49 Billion that is almost £400 million pounds.  huh  undecided
And now, the amnesia begins. my fellow nigerians, you will die in bondage with people like the OP around. cry

Here's another way to look at it.

Fashola is not hyped enough and not given enough credit. They should sing his praises in all religious institutions during every holy day of worship.

People on this thread are saying "he is just doing his job" and "Lagos state should be easy to govern"? I find these statements incredibly naive.
Have you stopped to consider the complexity of administering millions on citizens? Nigerian citizens in a third world environment for that matter.
His works are extraordinary and unprecedented. It is just the simple truth.
exactly!!. . . . His works are extraordinary and unprecendented, especialy for a country like Nigeria where the standards for excellence are extremly low. wink

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsene Wenger Needs To Be Sacked. by bidemi12(m): 5:28pm On May 20, 2011

@shade123,
are u trying to tell us that coaches are now valued based on how much they make for the club? do u know that these clubs have different officies for different ppl? the place of a coach is on the pitch and players not at the bank. at the end of his carrier, wenger will be judged with the number of trophies he has under his shelf. ppl are talking about wenger today not because of the money he makes for the club but for the trophies and records he created at his early stages. wenger can only be what he is at arsenal as no other big club in this world can be this patient with him. can't u see, he is not ready to go to even madrid because he knows that coaches at madrid sit on the hot seats.
real coaches are not afraid of challanges and that is what mourinho does. any where he goes, he lifts something and that is what a coach is employed to do especially at top clubs. if u look at last transfer market when no club bought from his team, the club posted deficit for the first time in a long period. if u say the club is making money, the next question will be how? what if no one buys. as u can see, he has resorted to increasing the ticket price. u are not winning anything for the fans yet u are increasing your ticket. what will happen if u win things?
they do not have those players that sale jersies talking about big players so the major source of income for the club is in the buying and selling of players which does not happen in anyother big team apart from arsenal.
That's where you are wrong!!! the coach is everything in a club. his decision on the pitch affects the botton line. PROFITS

Last year Real Madrid increased its revenue by 9 percent and has remained in first place among the most profitable clubs in the world.
The calculations of club revenues, were traditionally led by the auditing company Deloitte. The top twenty includes only European football clubs. England has most of all profitable clubs – 7.
The most profitable clubs in the world:

1. Real Madrid (Spain) – 438.6 (+9.2%)
2. Barcelona (Spain) – 398.1 (+4.6%)
3. Manchester United (England) – 349.8 (2.8%)
4. Bayern Munich (Germany) – 323 (+7.3%)

Now tell us another lie!!!
like i said "mumu fans". Revenue yes. Profitability no. Do you know how indebted the mofos are? They are still paying for past expenditures till date my guy.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsene Wenger Needs To Be Sacked. by bidemi12(m): 5:13pm On May 20, 2011
Mumu football fans with no sense for the game. Arsenal is about the only club in the world making a profit on a yearly basis, and why? the answer is wenger. smart man, buy cheap sell high. you think the arsenal board is s.t.u.p.i.d? they are in the business to make money you know. That is the bottom line. . . .profits. So long as they stay in the top four and are always in the champions league he's not going anywhere. Nigerians and our sentiments. No wonder our local club cannot grasp this concept.

it is easy to give opinions from one side of the fence. if you'all were landlords and had property to let out, i would like to know your feelings then. personaly i would not want every tom dick and harry banging on my door looking for accommodation. i'd rather have someone else do the husstle and bring me the finished product. that being said i dont condone what most agents do.
OK.

I am a rice farmer. Every month I produce a unit of rice.

I search around looking for who wants to buy.

One guy offers me N1000, another N1100, another N2000.

So once a month for two years I sell to the guy for N2000. Now, eventually over time I don't like this price. I want to sell the crop for more than N2000.

The guy refuses to raise the buying price. Now, if I search around and find someone else willing to meet my new price of say N2500, then fine, I simply stop selling to him.

But if I cannot find anyone willing to pay more, then I'm in no position to b1tch about the price he is offering, am I? And I'm certainly in no position to demand more, or guilt-trip/force him into paying more, right?

Why is he obliged to pay me more money for the crop I'm selling than what others are willing to pay?

Minimum wages have never made sense to me. If you don't like the salary at your job and think you deserve more money but they are unwilling to pay it, then it should be easy for you to quit and find a higher-paying job. And if you are NOT able to do so, then it should tell you you aren't underpaid at all.
I really like your argument. But there is a problem. You forget that in a poverty stricken society where resources are not evenly distributed such that the populace are not able to pursue education in order to better their careers, then they are forced to rely on govt handouts/minimum wage and unions to get whatever they can. 1, the jobs are not out there. 2, you don’t have the skills necessary to get a better job. What do you do?

HealthRe: Alcohol Addiction by bidemi12(m): 10:09am On May 14, 2011
Unfortunately there is no way to know if nigerians are addicts to alcohol since there is no way to measure it in nigeria. i think i read in one of the posts here that 2 bottles of beer will most likely take you over the limit in naija but considering the size of a bottle compared to the one's in the US, you will be definetly get a DUI if caught driving with more than a bottle intake. one average bottle in naija is about 2.5 over here in the US. To make matters worse i dont think the law clamps down on excessive drinking in nigeria while over here you are finished if you are drunk while in public or get behind a wheel while under the influence. If you ever want to drink socialy you are advised to have a designated driver with you. sometimes when i look back at my life in naija i believe i must have been crazy to take the risks i took. Boys will go to a party or club, down bottles upon bottles and still drive home. i shudder at the memory. No way can that crap happen over here. Driving under the influence is considered the same thing as walking around pointing a loaded gun at people because it can go of at anytime. you life is pretty much over if caught, because the crime stays on your record and every potential employer has access to it. I heard da grin was under the influence when his car crashed, imagine if people were around the vicinity when it happened? Not just alcohol addiction but alcohol intake in general is a massive problem in nigeria.

Why are we acting all shocked and outraged? It's an institution guided by rules and regulations as is customary. They went against a law and are being punished- should it be any different just because it's a private Uni? And by the way, did ANY of the students go to court? A little humility, though enforced, never killed anyone. If it'll make them better individuals, let them kneel all day by all means. If you can't abide by the rules in school, how do you play by the book at work and other life instances? Some of the graduates we see today are just a disgrace to themselves and the society at large; ill-mannered and morally deficient.

Reference:
You see, when I was saying it just last month sovereignty fears were expressed. You will never get service from civil servants. The y should face regulation, period. You cannot have government controlling regulation and operations in the form of transmission just as you cannot have the private sector regulating itself. Government should simply sell all its assets and move to the other side of the table please. They want to increase tariff for what, power that is still not stable. Nobody will buy a faulty product. What makes us pay so much for mobile telephony is because it is reasonably reliable and choices abound. When the private sector takes over and rolls out its infrastructure then it will tell us how much we are to pay, NERC steps in to make sure the tariffs make sense. But to set tariffs before privatisation is futile. Potential investors will not accept this neither will the public who will invariably be subjected to another hike down the line.

While I appreciate governments efforts at boosting power they should realise that for every dollar spent, 50 cents is lost. At the end of the day no one will value these assets at the bloated costs they were established. They just want to have that last feeding frenzy before the most valuable enterprise in the history of man - PHCN is finally put out of its misery. GEJ should put the horse before the cart and boldly open up the sector the way OBJ did. NITEL was in a better state than PHCN when he finally buried it. The government should know that one day PHCN will be sold and when it goes Nigerians will clearly see the difference between what government claims it has spent and what the true value is.
Who are you gan sef? you too much joo. . . thank God some nigerians still use their reasoning falculties.

Do you dead skulls know there are things called Constraints in the management of anything?

Just how do you expect the FG to resolve this problem?

Dear hopeless citizen hear this, there is no magic bullet. The problem of light will only be solved bit-by-bit. Like it or not. Trying to do it all in one go is a no-brainer and will bankrupt the FG.

Some thoughtless Nairalander suggest that foreigners should come and take control of our entire grid? This is a Nigerian problem that must be solved by Nigerians. The foreigner didnt get to where they are in one day. India still cannot supply its own power needs 100% but lightweight brains are calling for indian companies to come and feast on our grid?

^^^ you can argue as long and as hard as you can on points that make you rationalise the discourse to help you feel better but will never change the truth. which is, politics and religion dont and will never mix. the mere fact that bakare was running with buhari was mind boggling in itself, a muslim and a born again christian. their interest conflicting in the end was inevitable. another example of compromises that should not be. as a pastor he had no business discourcing principles of that magnitude with an unbeliever. And not just an unbeliever,  one that would never be converted to christianity, one who does not believe in Jesus christ. So what message is bakare sending to me? the end justifies the means? yeah right!!!! dont bother replying, i know your reputation of arguing to infinitely but i have a 4 mile run ahead of me  in a couple of minutes. so, till we spar in the future.
