PoliticsWhy Do People Feel So Comfortable Spending Or Misappropriating Others Money by bigblxd(op): 6:02pm On Dec 16, 2021
Good evening Nairalanders, having spent more than four decades in planet earth, today was my very first day of witnessing a court proceeding. Personally, there are 3 places that I don’t like going to viz-a-vis hospitals, police stations and a court rooms.

It hurts me seeing people’s fate hanging in the balance and in the hands of or at the mercy of others. More worrisome is also seeing such privileges of determining the fate of others been unjustly abused by people in authority.

A friend of mine was involved in a bad business few months ago. He lost his boss N1,000,000 in the process and was arrested by the police. I stood as a surety for him with the promise that the money will be repaid in record time but unfortunately he was only able to repay about 40% of the money since then.

Today he was re-arrested and arraigned in a court in Abuja for criminal breach of trust and cheating. I was at the court to witness the proceedings and possibly perfect his bail condition with a lawyer friend. Luckily for us, everything went on smoothly and he is a free man while awaiting the next adjourned date.

Now to my concern. In the cause of the proceedings in court today, cause most of the cases were what I was meant to understand as FIR (First Information Report) cases and to my greatest shock, 80% of the cases called by the judge were similar cases of criminal breach of trust and cheating. There was a welder that was given N9.2m for a fabrication job and he squandered the money. Another was 5m, 2.2m, 6m etc just like that. Funny enough, none of these culprits rather suspects look like people that have seen nor touched N1,000,000.00 in their lifetime.

Again, more funny and worrisome to me were the bail conditions as given by the judge. From the bail conditions, you will not need a prophet to know that the judge wasn’t willing or ready to grant them bail in the first instance eventhough the offenses were bailable. How do you explain granting a bail to someone accused of misappropriating for instance N5,000,000.00 with a bail bond of N7,000,000.00, 2 sureties in like sums, the sureties must be top civil servants not below level 14 with verifiable landed properties in Abuja etc.

In my mind, this Christmas don be for the suspects. Like play....like play and before we could say jack, Correctional Service green bus landed and packed those who couldn’t perfect their bail condition to Keffi prison.

In one breath, I almost felt like weeping for those who were being taken to prison while on the other hand I kept wondering why it is so easy for people to betray trust and squandered/misappropriate other people’s money in their care. Is it that they do not know nor care about the day of recompense? Where is integrity, where is trust and where is friendship?

What is life without integrity. It is well!!!
PoliticsRe: Governor Wike Monitors Port-Harcourt Lockdown. Defaulters Arrested (Photos) by bigblxd(m): 5:22pm On May 07, 2020
I don’t really know what is the challenge of the people in Rivers State. I am tempted to believe that there’s a deliberate attempt to sabotage Gov Wike. Some States have been on total lockdown for about 6 weeks and they not agitated as people in Port Harcourt. The Governor knows too well that Rivers State is on their own in the event of the spiraling of COVID 19 and is doing everything possible to safeguard the State. Obviously the federal government interventions to States is according to their electoral values/votes and Rivers State will be the least of their priority. IT IS WELL!!!
PoliticsRe: Appeal Court Ask INEC To Include Rivers APC On Ballot by bigblxd(m): 5:31pm On Feb 04, 2019
Ordinarily, I wouldn't want to comment on stuffs like this but it is baffling to see APC supporters celebrating a judgement that clearly favours PDP. A case in point is the Ondo State scenario where the electoral umpire could not postpone the election because PDP as a party was always in the ballot while awaiting court judgement for the lawful candidate of the party. As it stands, neither of the warring APC factions in Rivers State would commence campaign pending the determination or ruling at the apex court even if it comes a day to the election. Tell me, how then does the APC hope to wrestle power from Wike?

PoliticsRe: FG Withdraws Tambuwal's Security Details by bigblxd(m): 9:17am On Oct 30, 2014
Omimah:
My friend, read section 68 (1) (g) of the Constitution. A member can defect and still retain his seat if there is division in his party. Go study the state PDP is in Tambuwal home state, Sokoto. You think he is clueless?
So you know better than the courts that said that there is no division in PDP? Which court said that there is division in Sokoto PDP? Be whining there and refuse to face reality. Why can't we just be honest for once? If Tambuwal wasn't clueless, why did he hurriedly adjourn till Dec. 3. Pls this is not about you party affiliation but about constitutionalism.
PoliticsRe: FG Withdraws Tambuwal's Security Details by bigblxd(m): 8:50am On Oct 30, 2014
@ OP: Why is there so much ignorance on this platform. I just weep for the future of this country. My friend and neighbor is a very close aide to Tambuwal and I remember warning him to start looking for another job as soon as his boss decamps. The constitution is very clear on the defection of a lawmaker. A lawmaker can only defect and retain his seat if there is a merger of his party with other parties and he chooses not to be part of it (ie Opeyemi) or there is an established factionalisation in his party and the court has severally said that PDP is not factionalised.
Please lets leave sentiment and work towards a better and constitutional Nigeria. That is my dream!

Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Okotie Replies Catholics Over His "Hell Fire"sermon by bigblxd(m): 5:26pm On Dec 04, 2013
@OP, Pastor Okotie is just stating the obvious. It is just like telling the sinner that he will go to hell if he doesn't repent. It is not being judgemental but saying it point blank. In my evangelical work, I have realised that it is pretty dificult to bring a Catholic to the knowledge of the truth than non-catholics. They will always argue that they are on course, but unfortunately, christianity is more than a religion!

We all know the truth you filthy biiacth!! angry
Bros why na? You just lost it and me!
Pls i have deliberately refused to comment on this GEJ/Amaechi saga becos of its sensibility. But pls permit me to ask you and your likes one simple question that has been bothering me.
Ok. Just imagine what would have been your reaction if President GEJ was your dad who is been derided and disregarded by Amaechi and he keeps quiet. I bet you would have disown him(GEJ) considering the enormous power he wields. Kindly note that politics is about interest and party disloyalty is a grievious crime. Amaechi was advised not to seek re-election by the party he purported to be representing, but he insisted. That he won is not in doubt but the truth remains that he can not preside over NGF against the party's wish. That's call Party Supremacy! Please no matter our party leanings, lets not support any group that tends to desecrate the highest political office in the land because of selfish interests! Thank You.
PoliticsRe: Ondo Female Legislator Suspended Over Fetish Objects Possession by bigblxd(m): 1:09pm On Jun 20, 2013
Okija_juju: And what is Christianity about?! THE DEATH AND BLOOD OF JESUS. And if you cant see the wickedness, death and bad in the bible, then you must be reading an abridged version.

Still my brother, we have a failure to launch here.
Hahahahahahaha, well I strongly doubt that the entire Ogun State Legislature and some of us here are as daft as you tend to portray. Besides, these are more of spiritual than academic matters. Meanwhile, Christianity for your good Info is ALL about the RESURRECTION of Christ. Every other religious leaders died, were buried and were held by the power of the grave. Thats the DIFFERENCE. Dats all.
PoliticsRe: Ondo Female Legislator Suspended Over Fetish Objects Possession by bigblxd(m): 12:00pm On Jun 20, 2013
Okija_juju: So in your books, African Traditional worshippers are not honourable?!

YES!! Miniature coffins all form part of African traditional worship items. So do skulls of animals, humans, bird feathers, voodoo dolls, red cloths, eggs and also blood. That does not make it 'dishonourable'.

My Christian Neighbour prays at the top of her voice every night with 90% of her prayers revoling around killing all those people who are responsible for her problems by fire and force. She sprinkles Olive oil, uses handkerchiefs and probably holy water and crusifixes..

You Africans need to be ashamed of yourselves. Most of you look at an image of Jesus on a cross crusified and you all kneel and see nothing wrong with it. You see a woman with a miniature replica of a coffin and you are ready to lynch her. Isnt that double standards?!

You talk about role models.. What kind would you be?! You will tomorrow tell your kids things like 'Stay true to yourself', dont try to be like others, yet here we are denying that which is ours and desperately trying to be like the whites. Yet in the entire bible, not one Black man is a hero. Infact, the only one person that has been argued to be black is the one that was cursed by his father (Ham).

Go and weep for yourself.. As a people, Africans are very lost.
Bros, pls u are one person whose views i respect on dis platform. You would agree with me that extremism in any religion should not be condoned moreso with people we rever. African religion shouldnt all be about blood and deaths. We mustnt kill in the name of practicing African Religion please and stop painting us this BLACK! Take it or leave it, any form of religious practice which portrays wickedness, wishes others death or symbolises death should not be encouraged. Afterall what is religion without peace, Godliness and morality. PEACE!
PoliticsRe: Ondo Female Legislator Suspended Over Fetish Objects Possession by bigblxd(m): 11:12am On Jun 20, 2013
Please kindly remember that this woman is addressed as 'Honourable' and revisit your dictionary for the meaning. Besides, I am just getting to know that miniature coffins are part of African Religion worship. Please lets call a spade by its name, She is suposedly a role model and her act is in no way worth emulating nor will it bring the much desired dividend to her constituency.

This woman should sue the hell out of the Legislature.. angry

If she had a Catholic Rosary, a bottle of Holy water, a Muslim Bead or any other of such mainstrem religous paraphenelia, it would not even warrant a second glance.. But she has items related to trraditional african religous practice and its frontpage news.

This is utter bullshit!!

She should get a lawyer and sue for billions.. angry

Pls get ur facts right, NGF elections has always been on concensus or endorsement not by election. Governors are not seen as delegates.

There is no job security in Diamond Bank too & promotion is not on merit though they are currently working to change that now. I prefer GTB to DB anyday atleast for now. Goodluck!

Christianity EtcRe: Oritsejafor Gets Private-Jet As Birthday Gift From Church Members-(pics) by bigblxd(m): 9:05am On Nov 11, 2012
rafhell: The President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has now joined the elite league of Nigerian clergies, who own a private jet.

This was affirmed on Saturday as members of The Word of Life Bible Church, in Ajamimogha, Warri, Delta state, presented the Pastor with a private jet as his birthday gift.

The leader of Christian community in Nigeria, who is fondly called Papa Ayo, was celebrating his birthday and his 40th anniversary on the pulpit, when he was presented the gift.

Present amongst the congregation to felicitate with the Pastor was President Goodluck Jonathan.

The ceremony kicked off immediately with the entrance of the President with the singing of the national anthem.

Happy bday to Papa Ayo & congrats. Sincerely, if there is any one person dat needs a PJ in Nigeria, then it should be the head of the Christian Community in Nigeria moreso at this auspicious time that the Church is becoming an endangered specie in some parts of Nigeria. CAN President need to be very mobile for effectiveness & efficiency!
The president gave a brief address on the celebrant and wished him many more years ahead.

Responding to all the good wishes, Pastor Oritsejafor thanked the President, the Delta state governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Speaker, Delta state House of Assembly, Engr. Victor Ochie and all other dignitaries at the occasion.

The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of a private jet as birthday gift by members of the church.

A brief sermon was given by an international preacher, Dr Mike Murdock on seven laws of success.

He urged all Nigerians to build their faith and work with God.

PoliticsRe: Governor Amaechi Buys $50 Million Bombardier Jet, Amid State’s Flood Disaster by bigblxd(m): 2:26pm On Oct 26, 2012
Ricky_Ross: I am not supporting the extravagant lifestyle of our governors, but the way some fools are trash talking Rivers State is alarming. Can you all mention the names of your respective states so we can compare with Rivers State? Outside of Lagos State, which other Nigerian city is as developed as Port Harcourt? Someone said he spent 2 weeks in Rivers state and enjoyed only few hours of electricity? Which village is that? Thats what you get when you live in the ghetto... My own part of PHC i have standard road networks and we enjoy minimum 18 hours of power daily, sometimes the electricity lasts 3 days non stop...

I live in PHC, but someone comes from outside the state, spends 2 weeks in Port Harcourt and automatically he now knows PHC more than everyone else.

I must admit, Amaechi did wonders during his first term, and he is very slow now, but he is far ahead of most of your state governors hands down. What Amaechi achieved in the educational sector no other state governor can achieve in 8 years. Primary and secondary schools in River state are far more advanced and more equipped than many of your state universities, this is no joke. All over Rivers state, he built state of the art health centers.

If you are wondering what Amaechi is doing now, then take a trip to the GREATER PORT HARCOURT CITY. Thats where I built my house and that's where all the mega projects are going on. The World class hospital, world class roads, the best stadium in Nigeria, the Rivers state university of science and technology etc are at advanced stages of construction. There are too numerous projects in the GPHC to mention here. You either pay a visit to confirm, or you Google it.

Rivers state does not need this private jet, I am not from Rivers, I am not singing anyone praises, but I say things the way they are. From the way people are talking shiit here a stranger will assume PHC is a kinda shit hole. They should start by telling us what their own state governors have done better than Amechi. Akpabio should build the kind of world class schools in rivers bc that is what the poor masses need, not some Tropicana resorts and 5 star hotels that are for the rich only.
My heart bleeds when I read stuffs like this. I am from Port Harcourt and wonders what you are talking. Uneploment among gradutes & lack of infrastructure is alarming in Rivers State. Pls travel to Akwa Ibom, Enugu or Lagos and compare. Pls fear God and stop lying on the social network. Amaechi is a disapointment of the millennium!
