The rules are always ambiguous and never straightforward and their is always an exception to every rule, like in this instance where the VAF people will tell you, you can only submit original bank statements whereby the immigration form says photocopies, only for one to submit and the ECO turns it down like in this case stating their usual "because of high volume of fraud blah, blah, blah. . .

Now if this was the only ground the OP was refused, the ECO's decision would have been wrong, and the way round this would have been to put in an appeal stating that the application form says photocopies, and if they have a problem with high level of forgeries, the onus is on them to call the Bank in the UK to investigate if they had any concern and this always works.

But unfortunately, the OP would have to re-apply because maintenance issues was also raised. And like I said earlier, I am sure there is a loophole that would be found somewhere in the Law, for instance, if I am a fulltime student that is only allowed to work 20 hours a week, how do you expect me to pay rent, pay my bills, send 400GBP home monthly to my wife and you expect me to still have a minimum of 500GBP at the end of the month I bet this would make them take a second and a tenth look at that rule again Na today

Oh, and one more thing, you should be proud of your Daddy, we all know how Nigerians only like scrambling to work in Banks and the Oil and Gas sector, which is harder to permeate than the proverbial camel sliding easily through the eye of the needle, so for him to have at one time been able to work for Mobil, is a mean feat, so try to draw strength from this to carry on and hold your head up high. With regards to the bank statements, all immigration forms have a guidance note attached, which is what you follow to the "T" when applying, and as far as i know, most of them usually states "photocopies" of docs should be included, so you would have had a legal ground to stand on, but in your own case, there is no need bringing this to the attention of the ECO and ECM because you also failed the maintenance test requirement.


I don't understand all this Tier 1, Tier 2, Upper tier, second floor, lower decking, etc, category jare, dunno why they fixed something that ain't broke in the first instance, so would have to sleep over this. . . tomorrow is another day . . .
