My Girlfriend and I did PhD applications to study in the US and Canada. I got an offer in the US(not funded) first but my spouse(we're yet to marry) got a PhD offer(almost fully funded) in a University in Quebec Province. We had plans of probably getting married late next year or early 2019 but with this...we just concluded that she leave for school first

But while filling some of her immigration documents, I noticed that she could travel with her "Significant Partner"...I don't totally understand that.

Is it possible that we travel together?

If yes, what is the extra financial implications involved?

Yes if you guys get married, she can file for an open spouse work permit for you. Check the travel section, there's a thread on it. Please don't do common law partner if you guys don't actually live together for at least a period of 6 months

What is a CIC reference letter format? Are you aware people submit reference letter in plain sheet of paper and they still get PPR. The first thing is to understand the purpose of the reference letter and on the account of reading some many GCMS notes from multiple applicants from different countries; it is prove your A11.2 - Eligibility. To show that the work skills depicted in that reference sheets is actually true and comparable to the applicant NOC; adequate.

Submitting only reference letter may be sufficient for an ExxonMobil staff but not sufficient for an Ade & Sons Limited staff for eligibility purpose. Both companies are different in terms of reputation. So telling an Ade & Sons limited staff to submit only reference letter to justify his/her eligibility would be grossly insufficient.

It is equally the same as asking a self employed individual to submit only reference letter without supporting it with business registration documents, tax clearance, payslips and a sample of invoiced document (to show the work he/she has done in the past).

Sir, I am self employed and it is boldly written on CIC's website that the bolded document is what a self employed person should submit. I did over syllabus sef with it (but I did not submit pictures in the office and in front of our company sign and commendation letter and my clients hugging me letter) by submitting tax clearance and vat certificates. Today is day 51 post AOR. Submitting what is required by cic is the priority. It is that simple. Stop giving people who have done the right thing heart attack. My friend that submitted just reference letter from his dad's chamber where he works without website ati bebelo got ppr in 21 days. It is not cast in stone. Stop this panic reaction you are giving people. It's unfair to say the least.

I don’t know what you mean by record time. If you have gotten PPR; good for you. Not all program assistants and Visa officers are that lenient. A11.8 Eligibility is very key, reference letter is not sufficient enough. Reference can be issue on a plain sheet of paper and my grandmother can sign, but to authenticate the reference letter you need other supporting documents. Most people who just provide reference letter end up getting ADRs and then comes the complicated part of tax clearance, 6 months payslips and even CAC business registration, maybe your company website is not functional.

I will also not rule out the fact that your application will first be delayed at CIO - 2 or 3 months before being sent to London instead of Ottawa. London don’t joke. Go and ask people whose files are in London and the emotional trauma they experience daily.

Save yourself that time delay and troubles. Over gather your documents and get your PPR within a short period of time.

My 2cent is for those who are yet to submit. For those who have submitted only reference letter. Go and hold your God and begin to fire prayer for your file not to be delayed.

But all what you have stated is like 98mb and i only have 4mb place holder. Should we raise cse to upload office pictures?

Even if you had worked in different organizations - the above should be used for your present work place. It will solidify your application that you are sincere. Also, if your company’s website isn’t working; please go and beg the MD to resuscitate the website (though with the above you can clear doubts). Also, try to see if your company is actually registered on CAC website.

What I have written above - not everyone did it and they were successful. However, nobody will tell your how emotional traumatic it is waiting because your eligibility is yet to be confirmed. To save that time, please get the above

And to complement this, a tattoo of your work place logo on your forehead. it must look old as well to show years of experience there. All is mandatory.

I trust you all had a good day. Please i would like the house to advice me on an issue. I have been on NA2 for over 30days now and going by trends, i expected my application to have gotten to a LVO/VO at this stage. To my surprise when i asked CIC for my visa office yesterday, i was informed that my application was still at centralized intake office Sydney and yet to be transferred to a local visa office.

If any one has been in this situation before kindly share your experience. Isn't eligibility test done at NA2 stage and at the local visa office?

I dont even know which is worse. Writing ielts over and over again or refreshing your mycic profile just to see if there's any update. This NA2 place is stressing me out but for everyday the sun sets, you are a step closer.

I seriously need help about my visa including mentally help too cause this visa is driving me crazy, I applied to Vfs lekki, a study permit in Canada for Holland college around late July/early August and i didn't get any mail or anything till September's ending when I tracked the documents and saw there was a mail sent to me for pick up, wonderfully it was a medical request. But as it stands my program started on the 5th sep or so am obviously screwed cause I've missed a lot, I later sent the medical report ago I think 2 weeks now and I haven't gotten any feed back, every day that goes by I feel like I should hang myself cause I am dying! I don't eat much I have been sick thinking about my visa same with my dad that has been worried, I saw processing time is now 15 weeks now I hope that doesn't affects me cause am tired of everything I never even got a mail since I applied if not for tracking lord knows

Hi Jonaslokk,

I understand how difficult it could be for people waiting on visas to improve the quality of their life. It could be frustrating. However, i think you need to get you mind off it for sometime and focus on other options however weak they are to you right now. You also don't have to hang yourself. Talk to people more often about it. it helps to get things off your mind. I wish you the best

I've a question. I've a friend who says he will have to spend 1 million naira, that's almost $3,000 to apply for visa ...like visit visa or any visa to canada, from Nigeria? He said this is the cost of paying agents to process the applications to Canada and what they told him. I told him he doesn't need to use an agent but he says its better. Is this true? Are y'all spending that much to process your application to canada?? This isn't about me ooo, I'm already overseas. Just want to get a clearer picture of what he's saying. He says he doesn't want to spend that much and lose money in case his application is rejected so he's asking me to sponsor him instead.

Ha! Denden.. Dendenden... If he should apply for family sponsor, he will end up going to PTA meeting with walking stick. E for don old well well before him see madam to procreate. The other option is to ask wife to do her own express entry. I don't know if having a pr spouse adds to point sha o. He can also apply for spousal work permit while they wait for family sponsorship if he decides to go that route. But all the same, konji will hold him for a long time sha. Especially during winter.. Kai kai kai.

You are to print and sign the form. There are several parts to the form asides from representative side. Don't forget to attach every form you are supposed to attach. Please check and cross check. I'd you have a spouse, your spouse is also to fill the ethical code of conduct form, schedule of declaration someother forms I can't remember. Read the requirement on their website. If you fail to fill and submit any of the forms, your application will be rejected and returned

Routine routine routine! That's the way to go. And the good thing is, even when you have family visiting like the grandparents...you can share the routine with them and they help too. But like Vcole wrote, it helps A LOT if your spouse is a "domestic" man. Mine likes to cook, and he knows how and when to feed the kids, bathe them and get them to bed. Once I traveled for work for 3 days, he was alone with the kids and got them ready in the morning, dropped them off and headed to work. All I did was write out what clothes I wanted him to put on them . I wanted to be picturing them in my head in particular clothes .

On sleep training, it's a very good way to establish a routine as well. You can research online about it, my only advise is that the first 3-5 days will be hard because your baby will cry and turn red, they want you to carry them. You have to be strong, walk away from their crib and stand by the door, until they learn to comfort themselves and sleep off. During this time, [/b] my husband would go and stay in his car coz he couldn't stand the cries LOL [b] . But after the first week, it was easy to get them off to sleep.

LOOL the bolded is so me, and trust me, when i am in the car, i will still hear the cry in my headd until i comfort my child. so nope, this won't work for me loool

At this point I was upset with the test and just registered again  and ofcourse the result was even worse.Seemed like I was retrogressing instead.I became discouraged.

At this point I realised it was no play affair.i took time off work to prep.

I was defeated and broken and began to have doubts about my Canadian aspirations and the possibility that the Canadian dream may not be for everyone(Me). It seemed my prayers were not being answered.This time, I didn't rush to register. I read Kontagious post about his experience with the test.His post relieved some of the disappointment. I read Bigfido's post of success after 7 attempts and I was encouraged not to give in to defeat yet. I consequently  applied and paid for remark(against my better judgement but I was thinking it may be a technical glitch. I mean it's weird right, 6.5 in reading 4 times). About 3 days after the application for remark, I got a call from the test administrator from  BC asking to meet me. I went and he listening to me and explained to me that he assessed my answer sheet and what I was awarded was really my score.He wanted me to make a cautioned choice for the remark.I sighed and withdrew the EOR. I registered again for ielts leaving enough time to practice. All the materials I got from this platform were great.

God's mercy found me. My Crs has moved address from 395 to 449. All praise to God.

I am so happy for you. In all honesty, that thing can break someone. Knowing you are better than the score you get and you repeatedly get the same thing over and over again is appalling! I wish you the very best. ITA fall on you

I really marvel at how you just spoke... EVERYONE here's sole purpose for writing IELTS is for Immigration, hence the reason you are even on this thread... But you can prove me otherwise by telling me just ONE other reason you are registering for IELTS (General Training).

We all preach 'say the truth as it is' and even talk down on people with regards to this, yet some still wanna manipulate... Hoping BC will not be stingy with scores if they do not mention the real reason they need the results (to boost your scores for CIC). If there's really no impact on your score like you say... Why LIE or CONSIDER it? When registering for ECA, I'm very positive you selected Immigration... No?

Anyway... the choice is yours and that was only my opinion.

Eskis sir, the purpose of the question is for data collation for BC. Not for what my exams is for. It is none of BC's business why i am writing the exams. for all i care, I put immigration 5 times and then something else before i got my desired score. Infact, i think it is a means of them taking away from your marks so you can come and pay another money.yes that is my opinion.. come and beat me in my house!

I used the Road to IELTS from british council,E2Language (writing and last minute for Speaking), used youtube daily for listening and never scored above 34/40. Also used mini-ielts (for reading) as shared by our resident data analyst Cochtrane
