1. Yes, u need to send her original VERPFLICHTUNGERKLARUNG because the embassy needs original.
2. I don’t think she needs her bank statement. But ask people who used same process before may be that will help.
1.) Yes, the original. You can send through DHL to Nigeria after you get it.

2.) yes, bank statement is still required. It doesn't need to have any huge amount in it since you are bearing full responsibility for the travel.

Good day all...

Please I need a detailed procedure or requirements on how to invite my mother to visit Germany.... to stay for a month or 2.. (reason is for ọmụgwọ) but I'm confused... I have looked for a thread relating to this but found none.
I'll appreciate if you reply 🙏 🙏 🙏 thanks.

Read very carefully.

I will advise you also book an appointment date ahead while you work on the documents. 12am any day on the German Embassy page (short term visa) and have their passport data page by you to fill in details.

Usually, you get a date 2 weeks ahead.

The most important documents from your end(MY OPINION) is the VERPFLICHTUNGERKLARUNG (declaration of commitment). You have to get it from your city's Ausländerbehorde, they request your rental contract, your 3 months pay slip and the passport data pages of the person you are inviting.

This document shows you can afford and will be responsible for her stay, accomodation and living expenses.

Just read that link carefully. Good luck.

Goodmorning house,

Sorry if this doesn't fit this platform(please redirect me to the right one if there is), but has anyone gotten visa for their mom/mother in law SPECIFICALLY for pregnancy/after-birth support?

I was told there is a short term visa for that specifically. Is that right? If yes, with our Nigerian peculiarities, does it work? Or one should just stick to tourism visa?

Or does this also go under family visit short term visa?

I want to be sure how it works with our Nigerian peculiarities. Please if you have any idea, please help.

Thanks

Who is the family member exactly?

Did you put his name on your visa application form.

On the visa application form, there is a SPace for Family member to Visit.

did you put that person name?

It's a Tourist visa.

Try to file a declaration of commitment for the person.

Make sure the person have a strong ties back home, like a steady job, account balance, properties, family ties back home.

For elderly ones, it's easy to bring them.

But, if that relative is just a young Chap and do not some thing at hand

Forget it.
Thanks so much. Its actually my parents.

Hopefully, it will be easy like you said cos German matter sabi choke sometimes....

Please if you have any recent information, help me by responding.

I have replied your e-mail sir.

Book an appointment for your baby regardless and send them a mail again with your wife's appointment number and the baby's own. Plead with them since your wife already had an appointment before..

Your wife should have probably done her own interview without the baby... And tell the interviewer she has a baby now or follow up with some other process afterward.

But I understand it might have been hard to find somewhere for the baby to stay if she didn't go with someone.

Wishing you luck.

Hello Biggybee

Please, kindly help me. I am reaching out to you because my wife was not allowed Mr Paulinus because we had no appointment for our 9month baby. The embassy said we need to book another appointment and I cannot wait another one year for family reunion

I have a blue card already. I have approached my employer but said he needs a format letter from someone that passed through same process.

Please, can you help me with the format letter your received from the Hr? I will be grateful. Please, feel free to grey out informations that are sensitive.

I will send an email request to you as well and I will be glad to hear from you.

Thanks

Hello All,
Thought to share my update here as I’ve benefited from others here as well.
7/7/2022: My spouse(Blue Card)and I(Family Reunion) applied for an appointment/interview together. My Husband got a date immediately while I didn’t.
28/9/2022: My spouse arrived Germany on a blue card visa.
24/10/2022: My spouse wrote the German embassy in Nigeria on my behalf to appeal the 14 month waiting period for an appointment on health concerns. We waited this long so my spouse could attach exit and entry visa stamps in the email just so they know we’re no longer together in Nigeria.
25/10/2022: Embassy responded to the email saying the “embassy no longer grants priority appointments to spouses and children of researchers, blue card holders, scholars, students e.t.c
We were sad to say the least but decided to try again at a later time.
15/11/2022: My spouse reached out to the embassy again on my behalf on health grounds and they responded almost immediately with the same response as before. We were determined to try again, still.
16/11/2022: To my utter amazement, I got an appointment email from the embassy. This was after they rejected our previous appeal barely 24 hours earlier. They even gave me a date less than 2 weeks from when they responded.
29/11/2022: Went for my family reunion interview at the embassy. No hassles. Went with all my documents except 1 as my spouse was yet to get a blue card in Germany. The interviewer said my visa may take a while as I didn’t have my spouse’s blue card at the time but requested I send it once we get it.
16/12/2022: Sent my spouse’s Fiktionsbescheinigung to the embassy.
The rest of December: Waited with bated breath with no response from the embassy. Called their lines in Lagos to no avail. Was only told to wait.
18/01/2023: Got a mail from the embassy requesting my travel date.
19/01/2023: Submitted my travel documents to the embassy.
25/01/2023: Received my stamped passport.
8/02/2023: Arrived Germany.
In all, i was only separated from my spouse for 4 months as against the standard long waiting period.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my enquiries here. It’s a journey that requires a lot of patience indeed.
I just love when people try! Kudos to you both for not giving up! Congratulations!

Trial no dey kee person! Just try!!

Herzlichen Willkommen in Deutschland.

I have been living and working in Germany for a long time. But it was hard for me without my family. But one more week and my lawyer will finish all the proceedings and we can meet again. They came to see me, of course, but you know it's not the same at all. I lived alone for three years. I'm sick of it all. When I tried to do it myself, I waited a long time for answers and it stressed me out a lot. After the lawyer got involved, I'll tell you that the case has moved on from the dead point. I think very soon my family will come and live with me. I'm already beginning to plan how I will meet them. I think this reunion should be well celebrated. I miss them a lot.
I am happy for you.

I didn't understand all my husband was saying about loneliness and missing family before I came.

Now that I am here, I agree, this is a cold country, literally and figuratively and one shouldn't be alone here at all.

Congrats. May it all end well.

Good day everyone! I’m a first timer here and I have carefully gone through this thread and would like to ask some questions!
Firstly,My husband and I just got married early last month and are already in the the process of getting our German marriage certificate because according to my husband, it’ll help Fasten the verification process when it’s time for that. Please how true is this?
Secondly My husband is at the verge of hiring a Lawyer from Germany to help fasten the process of me getting my Visa (how possible is this with the help of a Lawyer)and also just in case we encounter any trouble especially from some Nigerian Lawyers who ask for bribe during verification . Please what do you all think about this?
I’ll really appreciate answers to these questions thank you🙏
My husband also got a German marriage certificate but it had NO impact on hastening the process.

If you will still undergo a verification process for your other documents (they don't verify wedding certificate but all, even the academics certificate you present) then I don't think there's a point.

However, I strongly support doing anything that one thinks might hasten the process. So if its not much cost to you and husband, do it. You might even use for other things after you have arrived.

On the point of getting a lawyer to hasten the process, I am NOT sure that will work since you are just starting the process and its not start you started the process and there was a problem somewhere.

Germany has a thing for laws and rules and they will claim that their rules already state a minimum of one year waiting.

Start the process now and if there are hitches in the middle, get a lawyer.

This is true but sad!

My fellowship body (AvH) also just got back to me that Nigeria German Consulate informed them that there's now a change in family reunion visa application and so they will not be able to offer my wife language sponsorship along with me since she needs to wait for a minimum of 12 months before she can join me.

But why are Nigerians treated this way?
This is sad.

As at January when I updated about mine. A couple of people that mailed me privately tried it and they got dates on time and visas too.

I hate to say it but its not only a Nigerian thing, some other countries are affected too. Foreign offices are clogged especially with the Ukraine thing...

Plus, I think they really consider where you work or what body you are under.

In all, just try.. You never can tell.

Hi Biggybee,
I'm about starting my visa application because my fellowship application was just approved. Going through your last response, I discovered you said I should also book a date for my wife.

Is this booking done online also or at the embassy? I didn't really see any option at the online booking portal which will not cause her to wait for a year, at the minimum!

To everyone, my passport expires next February, is it possible to schedule an appointment with it while I commence the renewal process or I must use the new passport?

I'm trying to save time because I need to be in Germany early next year.
Book for her online, family reunion visa, let her start her waiting period. The one year minimum you referred to starts counting from the day you book. So book it and let the countdown begin.

When you resume your fellowship here, it could also help your fellowship body to offer some assistance when you tell them how long she's been on the wait list.

If you get to the interview and somehow the visa offered could cover your wife.. You simply give them the reference code generated when you did the booking.

This is just my opinion.

To your second question, I will suggest you schedule an appointment with your old passport and keep working on the new. When it is time to submit your passport for the visa stamping, submit a new one.

If you are asked to drop it off at your interview, let the interviewer know its about to expire.

Good luck!

Is it possible to still use this Aufenthaltstitel (with 4 weeks validity) to travel to Nigeria to pick up my new passport and return to Germany in 1 week? I am eligible for an extension but need a valid passport for this.

Your reply will be helpful, Thanks
Are you going to Nigeria just to start the whole process? Or you already did the process and only going for pickup?

If its to start a new process and you ain't going for any other special thing in Nigeria.

Hi everyone,
Please I would like to clarify a bugging question. My wife’s interview would likely come up in July/August as we booked July 2021. In the meantime, she did change of name and her current passport expired in April. She already did capturing for a new passport but we were told file had to be sent to Abuja for approval before passport could be printed. Hopefully we can have this resolved in time and please if you have any link for fast tracking such cases, kindly let me know.

My immediate question is in a case where we can’t get the new passport before her interview, could she still attend with the expired passport? Seeing as the German visa is not issued on interview date and she can send in the data page of the new one after and also present it for Visa provision when it’s time.

Any experience from anyone would be appreciated? Anxiety don wan kill person abeg.

Thanks in advance
It is even better if she still has the old one. I am assuming the name on old one is what you booked an appointment with.

She has to go with that one because if the name on her appointment mail and the passport she presents at the gate is different.. Unnecessary drama can happen.

I hope she gets the new one soon so she can go with both. But the old one will do just fine for the interview, if they ask her to drop off, then she can let them know she will send in a new one.

Hello!
Please, what's the prospect of getting the visa as couples, I mean submitting my application with that of my spouse at the same time?

I'm planning to be in Germany early next year for a research work, which lasts for a maximum of two years. While I do not have to wait to submit my application, I understand that my wife may have to wait for a minimum of one year before making family reunion application, if we do not submit it together!

For a stay of 2 years (max), I can't understand why she will have to stay back for a whole year before she could submit her application!

Has anyone submitted as couples, what was the outcome?

Note: I'm going there on fellowship, which is sufficient for us, but there are stipends for spouse and children also. So, finance shouldn't be an issue.

In fact, this is one of the reasons I will prefer to submit the application at the same time so that we travel at the same time also because she won't be paid the stipends for as long as she's away from Germany!

Are there things I can do to fast-track the appointment for her visa application?

I shall be grateful for your help in this regard.
Let your fellowship body give you a letter that covers her (you might not need this if your acceptance letter already states that). Or let them mail the embassy when you have gone for your own interview.

Book a date for her alongside with you.

MAKE SURE YOU DROP THE LETTER ALONG WITH THE DOCUMENTS YOU DROP OFF AT THE EMBASSY. If you interviewer asks if you have any questions... Tell them about your wife.

Please where can i find the list of accredited vaccination Centers in Nigeria? Is there a Website? Which vaccine did you take?

Thank you.
I am not sure where you can find a list. But i will ask you to start from your state hospital. In my state, it was some primary health care centers that were used. So you could check too.

A google search might help. Or ask around from people who have taken the vaccine.

Bonn2007:
Good Evening NL,

Please I wish to make an important inquiry from those who have gone to the embassy for their Interviews and from those who have travelled to Germany from Nigeria since this Corona pandemic.

Did you have sign documents compelling you to get Corona vaccination in order to enter Germany?

For those who flew into Germany in the last few months, were you all vaccinated and showed your vaccination cards at the German border?

Lastly has anyone who isn't vaccinated in Nigeria travelled to Germany with just a PCR Test?

What has been your experiences in this regard?
Thanks.
No, i did not sign any document compelling me to be vaccinated.

I came in 3 weeks ago. I was already vaccinated in Nigeria, taken the two shots.

I did a PCR test in nigeria 24 hours before departure which was checked before i could board my flight. (some people claim that with just vaccination proof, you can fly without having to provide a negative PCR test, i know someone that flew Qatar airlines to the UK that was fully vaccinated amd she didn't have to do a test before flying. I didn't want any delay/embarassment since i was using a different airline so i just did the test).

When i landed at Frankfurt, the only thing the border police asked asides my passport was my proof of vaccination. (The card was what i gave them)

When i got to my spouse's city registeration office, i was asked to provide my proof of vaccination before i could be attended to.

Unfortunately, the QR code on the Nigerian verification website was faulty and couldn't be verified, even though i had the card with me, they didn't let me into their office. So i had to go do a PCR test (the result out in 15mins) to be attended to that day...

I was willing to take the vaccination all over again but when i got to the vaccination centre in the city, I explained that i was already vaccinated but verifying it online had issues. So they told me to just take the booster shot alone instead.

I ended up taking the booster shot which then made me have an EU proof of vaccination and QR code.

I have been asked for my vaccination proof in the train, at some shopping malls, before i could sit in a restaurant, at my language school etc.

I don't know if a negative PCR test will be enough for you to come in at the border, but i know that a lot of places/people will ask you for it as you go about your daily activities.

So except you are willing to keep doing tests that shows you are negative every 24 hours, its better you get vaccinated.

If you still have time, do it in Nigeria. If not, do it as soon as you come in (hopefully, the negative PCR test will be sufficient to let you in at the airport border).

Hello.
My hubby is trying to register our marriage in his city in Germany. The city registry told him to submit some documents e.g our wedding certificate, passport data page etc and to fill the verification forms (same type of form that lagos embassy issues for reunion verification). He was also told that he will pay verification fee and they will contact lagos embassy to send a lawyer for the verification here in Nigeria. I understand this is the same verification process I would undergo after my visa interview later in the year. Someone once posted here that registering his marriage in his German city made the visa process faster for his wife and kids in Nigeria, that's why we want to try it.
My question is;
1. Will I be made to pay N150k for another verification or I can simply present the evidence/certificate of verification from my husband's city (it should be ready before our visa appointment date)?
2. Does anyone have an idea of how much it will cost him (the city office has not told him the fee yet. His appointment is next month)? We need to be financially ready.
3. Has anyone done this? Care to share?
Thank you.
3. I really hope this works for you ma'am. My husband tried this, at first it looked like it will work. When he mailed them, they said he should come with our marriage certificate, I actually had to DHL it to him, by the time he got to their office, they did a 360 turnaround on their information and said our marriage could only be registered when i am physically with him.

Not to dampen your spirit because cities differ and you should try all you can to hasten your process.

I wish you the best.

Step by Step on how I obtained my family reunion visa.

1. Got married in the church 07.10.2017 ( so my church marriage certificate was what i used to process my visa)
2. November 2017, I enrolled in german language school in lagos .
3. December 2017 ( I took the A1 exams in Goethe institute Lagos).

4. After the result came out, I started looking for appointment. I noticed that they are ususally no available appointments during the day. So i tried at midnight and i got one for 3.01.2018
Before going for your appointment, make sure you have all the required documents and 2 to 3 photocopies of each document. Appear at least 30-40 minutes before your appointment.

The visa officer might ask some questions in German. In my own case, I was asked my name,my address and the name of my husband. Don't freak out, they are jsut basic questions.

5. A week after my appointment, my lawyer contacted me and started the investigation. He went to my family house, he visited the place i was staying in Lagos, my primary school, secondary school, university, the church where i wedded and the hospital where i was born.

6. Feb. 2018. I got an email, that I should submit my passport to the embassy, but the passport should bear the last name of my husband.
7. This process took about 3 weeks.
8. 03.03.2018, I left Nigeria for Germany.

LIFE IN GERMANY.
1. After I moved to Germany, I added myself on a waiting list for a language course.
2. June 2018 I started my german course and by dec.2018, I wrote the B1 exams. (by oct 2018, I got a 450 euro job which lasted 3 months)
3. Jan.2019 I started my B2 and by sept. 2019, I wrote C1 exams and passed it.
4. With my C1 result and the my translated university certificate, I got a job in jan. 2020 in the finance sector.

5. March 2021, I applied for German citizenship and by July 2021, I got my german citizenship. Three years after i migrated to germany.

My story might be uncommon, but here is how i achieved it. I researched extensively , as i didnt have any guide. I put the horse before the cart. Learn German as much as possible. The possibility of getting a good job is higher, when you have the german C1 certificate, you can get high paying jobs and your chances of getting german citizenship will higher.

Feel free to ask me any question
Thanks for sharing. This is inspiring.

Hello House,

My family and I presently work and live in Nigeria and I just got a job contract). The travel agency supporting my and family's relocation will process fast track. Please I have a few questions with regards to the documents needed for appointment:
1. Can someone please share with me template for 'Motivation letter'
2. For spouse application, they requested affidavit deposed by father stating no marriage prior - how do we go about this.
3. They also requested marriage and family photos - we only have soft copies of these. Can we print on normal A4 or should we do photo prints?
4. For children application forms and declaration- how do we sign since they are Under 5 years and don't have that, can we just use their initials?
5. Still on children, do we need to provide:
a. registration of birth of the hospital and name/address of the clinic since we are providing NPC?
b. all school records, nursery records and names/addresses of schools attended - are these necessary/mandatory since they are U5?
6. Lastly, how long will the processing for my family take since we are applying together?

Thank you very much as you respond.
Firstly, i do not think you need an agency. Or better still, i don't know if any agency can fast track anything for you. The German embassy deals so much on a personal level that i am not sure agencies help to give any "Special effect"

Let me help answer the ones i can.

2. Let your wife's father (mother or head of family if he is late) Go to any high court in your state and ask a lawyer to help with "Affidavit of Spinsterhood". The content will be that your wife has never been married to anyone else before you and before your wedding date.
At every point a person's name is mentioned in the affidavit , state their full name, age and address.

3. Do photo prints.. I made only 4 copies(showing that we were in court and the ones we took with parents and witnesses) but in the end i wasn't even asked. But do it, just in case they ask you.

4. Use their thumbprint.

5. If they ask for the hospital in the application form, write it there. But the NPC certificate is definitely needed.
b. Take them along just to be safe, it might not be needed at the end but take it.

6. This is based on so many factors. I remember there was a guy who had preapproval and it took his family 4 months altogether. For some, they had to wait longer. But maybe not as long as those that don't have preapproval.

Best of luck.

Okay, but does it have a particular format to follow or it’s just to go to the court?
Just tell a lawyer you want to swear affidavit of spinsterhood. Your State High court will do.

Your head of house will be the one to swear it.

That you were not married to anyone else before your current spouse and you were not married before the date on your wedding certificate.
