So because of one bad practice we should continue with another bad practice?

Why not stop both by diversifying our economy?
Diversify motor.. Same people in govt are using crude oil to collateralize ADB,, IMF and World Bank. So future crude oil barrels are owned by our lenders… From Naija subsidy to oyibo subsidy 🤷🏿‍♂️😂😂

If the government have no money to subsidize the naira and subsidize fuel subsidy, where do you want them to get the money from?

Should we keep borrowing dollars and paying high interest rate just because we need to defend the naira "artificially" from its true value? We are talking of billions of dollars. Which politician is stealing billions of dollars?
Arent we borrowing now without subsidy and FX floatation? U dey play., but we are borrowing to fund recurrent expenditure and chopping money for politrickians… una dey play

So what solution do you suggest to defend the naira?

Perhaps you prefer that we keep defending the naira with Tens of Billions of US Dollars which we do not have?

Why should we borrow money from China so we can subsidize the lifestyle of a few rich Nigerians that want the US dollars?

Folks like you only think about fictional savings… Not floating Naira had saved millions of Naija jobs and families. Now the cost of fuel has gone 500%. Cost of food went up 500% . Cost of drugs has gone up 800%… everthing went up by 500-1000%… but minimum wage is still N36k? So Naija workers have been robbed… and politrickians are enjoying their savings

Ouk was very rich before he become a Gov. in facts , Some of the SE Govs from 1999 to date were very very rich before they became Govs, when I mean rich , business and. Work not politics made them rich.. eg OUk, PO, Rochas , Soludo etc.

He was a good Governor too but didn’t major on Infrastructure. Orji Kalu paid 13th month atimes as Christmas bonus.

Kalu wey dey give 10k to women in Abia civil service for August Meeting wrapper every August. As in 10k between 1999-2007.

He did not owe workers

Man was a good governor for "Nigerian standards"

Lol. Soludo being rich?? He was a UNN lecturer before he was appointed by OBJ. He was penniless.. he had no houses in his hometown, Enugu, Abj, Lagos. He became CBN governor… and built and bought houses in village, Enugu, Abuja, Lagos and UK… politics is the easiest plug in Naija

Since you finished high school since 2000, you would need to clearly explain what you have been doing in a clear and concise way.
It would also be useful if what you’re currently doing, ie that job pays you N350k, is tied to your academic pursuit.

Good afternoon men and women of the same course,

I want to inquire about 120.

I have gotten a 120 for PhD at ucf with no funding and the source of my funding is family, however, another institution(Purdue university) gave me admission to MSC with little funding.

Can I still request an I20 from the new institution and use it to apply for a Visa?

Thank You.
Yes.. you can use Purdue’s 120 to apply

Reconsidering the Call to Japa: A Counter Perspective
Rejoinder to 11 Reasons Why You Must Japa From Nigeria
https://www.nairaland.com/7936687/11-reasons-why-must-japa#127418405

The recent post enumerating 11 reasons to encourage individuals to "Japa" from Nigeria presents a one-sided view of the situation. While acknowledging the challenges facing the nation, it is essential to consider a more balanced perspective before making such a life-altering decision. Below are my counterarguments to the points presented:

1. Diverse Futures in Nigeria:
The assertion that the future in Nigeria is uniformly bleak oversimplifies the complexity of the nation. Nigeria has a diverse and growing economy, with numerous success stories in various sectors. By actively participating in and contributing to the local economy, individuals can positively impact their own and their families' futures.

2. Access to Quality Life in Nigeria:
Nigeria does face challenges, but it also offers opportunities for a quality life. Investments in education, healthcare, and security are underway, and many individuals are successfully navigating these systems. Emigrating is not the only path to a fulfilling life.

3. Poverty Beyond Borders:
Generalizing that everyone who leaves Nigeria escapes poverty oversimplifies the multifaceted nature of economic challenges. Many Nigerians living abroad face their own financial struggles, and success is not guaranteed solely by leaving the country.

4. Life and Spiritual Fulfillment:
Suggesting that all life and spiritual problems end upon leaving Nigeria oversimplifies the human experience. People's beliefs and challenges vary, and attributing them solely to nationality is reductionist.

5. Prosperity Through Hard Work:
Success is not exclusive to geographical location. Hard work can lead to prosperity in any part of the world. Painting Nigeria as a place where success is only luck undermines the efforts of many hardworking individuals in the country.

6. Japa as Paradise:
Romanticizing emigration as paradise oversimplifies the challenges faced by immigrants in adapting to new environments. Success abroad often requires significant effort, resilience, and adaptation.

7. Trending vs. Critical Decision:
Making life-altering decisions based on trends may not be the most prudent approach. Trends are transient, and considering individual circumstances and goals is crucial in making such a significant decision.

8. Individual Paths and Success:
Labeling those who stay in Nigeria as failures oversimplifies success and happiness. Many individuals find fulfillment and success by contributing to the development of their home country.

9. Due Diligence and Informed Choices:
Ignoring due diligence when deciding to emigrate is risky. Thorough research and understanding of the destination country are essential to make informed decisions that align with personal goals and values.

10. Remaining Population in Nigeria:
Exaggerating the number of people who have emigrated may not accurately represent the current situation. Many Nigerians choose to stay and contribute positively to the nation's growth.

11. Life Expectancy and Mortality Rates:
Associating life expectancy solely with geographical location oversimplifies the factors influencing mortality rates. Health, lifestyle, and access to healthcare are significant contributors that vary globally. There locals who still live above 80 years.

In conclusion, the decision to emigrate is deeply personal and should be based on a comprehensive understanding of individual goals, circumstances, and the evolving landscape of the home country. Painting an entire nation with a broad brush may not capture the diverse experiences and opportunities available within it.

Whole epistle without stats, data and empirical evidence to support your claims.. you go explain taya Lol

Family / Re: My Mom Has Made Me Miserable! She Denied Me Happiness by BigIyanga: 3:16am On Dec 31, 2023
egobetter4me:
I know a lot of you will blame me after reading this and even want to curse me, but this is my sad story and I just want to put it out there for people to learn. Don't ever let your parents decide your partner for you. Even if you have to run away, do it.

I recently got married to an ugly, short, black, smelly, village girl. At first my uncle took me to see her, then we spoke and she came visiting. All these happened in the village.

When I went back to the city, I told my mom I wasn't interested in her any more, but she insisted I must marry her. My mom would always take my joy by telling me about the girl anytime she sees me happy. There was no breathing space. We live together and I pay the rent. I loved her so much that I could do anything for her. She once sold her wrappers/materials and jewelleries, to send me money for school fees.

Anytime she tries to talk to me about the girl, I will beg her and let her understand that young people like to marry who they truly love. I don't want her, I don't love her and I don't think I will ever will.
After all said and done, she still insisted, so I called my elder bro to come talk to her. He came in from another state and spoke with my mom for hours. She did as if she would allow me marry my choice, just for my brother to go. Immediately my brother left, she started again.

My mom has BP. She stopped using her medication and was ailing. she threatened that if she dies, that I killed her. I thought to myself, that if she truly dies, I might live with the regrets for the rest of my life. I really tried but I was defeated. I succumbed. But before marrying the girl, I spoke to her(the girl) that I don't love her and that I'm marrying her against my wish, but I guess she was desperate. She said I shouldn't worry, that the love would grow in the marriage.

We got married. She lives with me and my mom. Even my neighbours were disappointed in me, when they saw her. Church members and friends were all disappointed. I can't start narrating to them how I got here.

We are over a year gone now and she still irritates me. I so much hate to look at her. We've had sex only about 5 times or so and I have to get high to do this. I only kissed her once(at the alter and I cringed)

I cry everyday.....both at home and while hustling. I never envisaged my life to be like this. I had hoped to meet a beautiful, clean and well mannered graduate from the city. Someone I would truly love and she would love me too. I'd hoped that I would meet her, approach her and we start as friends, then lovers, then I would propose and all. I never planned for it to be like this.

I am so sad with my life. Right now, I'm thinking of applying for masters abroad and probably use the means to Japa and never come back again.

My life is so miserable!

Learn from me. Don't ever let your parents blackmail you into marrying someone you don't love. Pls don't. Just run away for months or few years and they will leave you alone.

What’s wrong in being black? Arent you black?

First thing I told myself is this business must continue with or without me . People in that business before are the one who do it all but I made sure I had a capable experienced hand from the beginning I spelt his roles he controls the other team I pay his salary and theirs I control things with technology from my phone . I just check in physically to debrief . Atones I travel for other things and all still works . I said the way you start is the way it will continue . Be willing to add extra team now and pay them so your business won’t pay for it

I know many Nigerians that can’t even travel to next town cause if their business
Story.
Elon Musk cant build a scalable biz in Naija if he were born in Naija. Market
Naija is a beast and different environment. In the US, you fight for marketshare … you can lose billions $ to gain marketshare in order to smoke and fizzle your competition…. But in Naija, you have to stay afloat to make sales and profits in order to survive. In Naija, cashflow from sales is the oxygen for business ..,unlike in the US where banks, VCs, and financiers can throw money $$ at u .. even when you’re losing money

Guy! As a start up business owner, in order to grow your new brand and expand, you have to give it your full attention and presence.

Before you “develop a system that works”, your 💯 must still be involved even if it includes sleeping at the factory before you figure out and build this system, no big business owner just jump into it. They all started small and simple
Tankio.. Talk to Dangotes, Folawiyos, Madukas , Rabius, Okoyas… they all started with zero staff and slept in their shops/offices at innitial stage

I am sure getting it. People like you think business is all about perfect good players. I say, far from that. When you don’t take ownership you set yourself up for failure. Think big! Scale that idea and money will answer to you.
Stop offering textbook advice. You can stay in 1 location and make lots of money by servicing a niche market.

You missed the point. A system is not an App. Let me explain more. A system is
Input - process - output - feedback - input.

Also, a system is not a training manual, or videos or checklist. Instead System cuts across all aspects of business. From getting the right team to effective delivery.
Still explaining… easier to say and done. When you start a business and implement all your listed ideas .. then we can talk. Ideas are cheap
Properties / Re: Can 25 Million Naira Build This? by BigIyanga: 8:52pm On Dec 27, 2023
sonnie10:

Any business that you have to sleep at the site is not scaled. You have to develop a system that works just like you would. The mark of a good business owner is the ability to build a team that can deliver exactly what the clients want. Don’t be a business operator, be a business owner.
Scale your business such the process can be handled by ordinary people, and not just the extraordinary you.
No matter how strong and hard working you are, there is just so much you can do. Sleeping at the site shows you are confined to your natural ability, time and energy.
However, if you ever want to scale, develop a system that can process your input for profitable output. This can work for any kind of business.
Easy to say when you havent run a biz. Most new biz owner without VC and investors … you have to sleep on the job, do and micromanage everything by urself until it starts making profits.. every biz doesn't need investors. Every biz doesnt need an app to solve problems in a market place

Unless you have excess, it is better to expand income generating systems. I.e build more businesses than build a house that doesnt generate or create substantial wealth on time
Building a business is a lot more harder in Naija than building a roof over head and it gives your family stability.
If you’re venturing into a new business, you can easily lose N25m without any recourse to recovery. Everybody is not wired for business and you must take a loss in any biz venture before you make any profit
