PoliticsRe: Nigerian Legislators On 6 Weeks Recess For Ramadan - Good/Bad? by BigMeat2: 5:36pm On Aug 02, 2011
I never knew they are even in the National Assembly.
Most of the time the 2 chambers are barely full, seems they're on holiday all of the time.
The only times the chambers are full is when they're debating about how to increase their allowances.

What about other moslems fasting and working at the same time - are they different from them.

Bunch of lazy dimwits. Why are we always getting it wrong with useless elected representatives.
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes - Does God Want The Tithes Of Money? by BigMeat2: 6:03pm On Aug 01, 2011
With all the tithes which are being collected every sunday week, Nigeria has a nation has not even climbed on the first level of development.

So I disagree with anyone who says that paying tithes will help Nigeria to develop.

No matter how much we debate this topic on tithing, without holiness from a pure heart and following peace with all men, our tithes and offering are just wastage to God.

Let each of us search our hearts and stop all the talk about who is paying or not paying tithes. At least it is not a prerequiste for us to enter heaven.

I go by that famous verse in John 3.16: "For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He (even) gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life." - Amplified Bible.

The most important thing that God wants from us is our acceptance and believing on Jesus Christ, His son.

With regards to giving, let us all do it joyfully, as we have proposed in our hearts, for our God loves a cheerful giver.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan's Single-tenure Proposal Fraudulent, Self-serving . ACN. by BigMeat2: 12:10pm On Jul 28, 2011
Mr President is just another time waster with no specific or concrete agenda for the country.

As noted, there are more urgent things that needs to be done.

This is a diversion from the Jonathan.

Please someone should tell them to shout up.
PoliticsRe: IBB Calls For Creation Of State Police To Fight Terrorism by BigMeat2: 11:52am On Jul 28, 2011
The creation of state / regional police force should have been done by successive governments. It is a well known fact that it will be of advantage in fighting crime.

On the other hand, some elected state officials may turn these police forces to their private security establishments.
PoliticsRe: When Will Nigeria Be Like This City by BigMeat2: 4:52pm On Jul 27, 2011
This is possible if we have selfless leaders and obedient followers who have in mind an orientation to make simple things in life work for their development.

PoliticsRe: Ancestral DNA Results of Nigerians. by BigMeat2: 12:41pm On Jul 27, 2011
I don't think in the present day Nigeria, there can be someone who is 100% from a particular region.

I will give mine as an example, though a Yoruba by tribe from Ondo State.

I found out through family history that my father's side originally migrated from present day Kogi State. Although I have seen traces of Fulani history in the story.

On my mother's side, they migrated from Edo state, with some traces of Warri blood.

So along the years and centuries, we have some how inter-mingled in Nigeria, hence the results identified in the poster's report.

In short, let us all in harmony as we're one big family called Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: What Nigeria Needs? Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala by BigMeat2: 12:27pm On Jul 27, 2011
She can be president and 'madam rebranding' be her vice.
I think it's time to give ladies a chance, at least let's see what magic they can perform.
PoliticsRe: Gej Sends Tenure Elongation Bill: "i Had No Shoes : " by BigMeat2: 12:08pm On Jul 27, 2011
This is not want is required from the presidency.
He should be keeping the National Assembly busy by sending them proper bills to debate upon and not this useless agenda.
Clearly shows that Mr President hasn't sound policies that will move the country forward.
This tenure elongation bill will now occupy the country for the next four years, thus affecting other areas that needs proper attention and supervision - re: OBJ's third term agenda.

On the other hand, if this bill should be implemented, I think the immunity clause for elected leaders should be removed so that they can be prosecuted if need be.
PoliticsRe: Police To Employ Graduates, Change Uniform. by BigMeat2: 1:07pm On Jul 26, 2011
I think they have been employing graduates since its inception, so this is nothing new.
I just wish that the uniform can be changed to something much better than the black outfit.

PoliticsRe: Handcuff Shortage Hits Police by BigMeat2: 3:02pm On Jul 25, 2011
Since when has the NPF have handcuffs, looking at most criminals brought to police stations or courts they hardly have handcuffs on them.

This is not breaking news.

PoliticsRe: What The Government Should Do About The Nigerian Police Force (npf) by BigMeat2: 2:19pm On Jul 25, 2011
I think the uniform must be changed, it makes them look and behave like monsters in uniform.

Also the recruitment policies must change and proper training be given to the personnel.

Making simple things work well, will go a long way in sanitanising the NPF.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria In The 60s/70s. Sights And Sounds by BigMeat2: 3:37pm On Jul 22, 2011
Please don't let us derail this fantastic topic.
This is about the 1960s-1970s which I believe majority of us don't have much knowledge about. All I ever hear is the 'good old days' from my parents.

To all the posters who have been very resourceful with the pictures, thank you so much - 'a picture definetely speaks a thousand words' - with all the tons of pictures I have viewed, I have learnt alot about our great nation.

PoliticsRe: Former Ig Okiro Ordered To Pay N50 Million Over Shady Land Deals by BigMeat2: 12:30pm On Jul 22, 2011
I think the police force in every country have got some elements of people with shady activities.
NPF is just a waiting time bomb full of corrupt officers.

This week in the news from UK, the top police boss and his assistant resigned due to getting involved in shady deals.

Hence my conclusion, police are not to be trusted.

PoliticsRe: 43,000 Ghost Workers Discovered By Fg In One Year by BigMeat2: 12:22pm On Jul 22, 2011
The time has come when heads should start to roll - I mean literally like the Chinese always do. From the Ministers, Perm Sec, Directors, all the way down, proper investigation should be carried out.

This sort of frauds are been uncovered daily and it's beggars believe that nothing has been done to prosecute lots of people.
PoliticsRe: House Of Reps Okays Islamic (non-interest) Banking by BigMeat2: 12:15pm On Jul 22, 2011
When the idea of a 'non-interest bank' was put forward by Prof Soludo, there was nothing like Islamic attached to it. The plan was to have a banking system that will help provide financial services to the small and medium entrepreneurs,

The current CBN chief should be considerate and remove the attached name of Islamic from the proposed name. This will help to claim a lot of people down.

On the cash withdrawals - the best idea for a long time.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria In The 60s/70s. Sights And Sounds by BigMeat2: 1:07pm On Jul 21, 2011
Beautiful pictures - the country was more developed then, compared to these days
These sets of pictures are trully amazing, look out the roads and street are neat, no agberos, or area boys molesting people.
We should show these pictures to our politicians, maybe it will help them to understand the need for massive development in the country.

Where did we actually lost the drive to move the country forward?

@ poster, thanks so much for the pictures, keep them coming
