question: So you predict the bears will reign in the next few months?
It is usually so, but this year the market seems unpredictable so prices might surge as it appears there's renewed interest in the market by retail investors.

I might be wrong but this period I'm investing cautiously, I bought almost all my holdings in tthe last two years mostly late last year and early this year and I've sold almost all at juicy profit

otokx: Things are not looking so good generally, looks like we are about to go on some sort of recess especially for short run people.
Almost all annual reports are out, there'd be a dip in prices for a while if all's normal.
Time to pick bargains.

nahinbdis: Very incorrect! Teaching jobs no longer pay crap. Package yourself properly highlighting your value proposition.

My boss pays her daughter's lesson teacher 50K monthly. That is for 2hrs of primary school work Monday to Friday.
You just repeated what I said,

Imagine him having 4 of that meaning 8 hours a week, that would give him 200k, I can't think of any teaching job which pays that, especially private schools.

assalaamat: Enough Is Enough;a Case Study Of My Life

Fellow nairalanders, it would be very nice of you to help me with your candid and useful advice so as not to go astray. As you all know, this is not my first time of asking for your brotherly and sisterly advice on this great platform, but I want this to take me to my pomiseland this coming month.

It happened that on the 21st of February, 2012 when I came back from my Youth Service, I had about #96,000 in my bank account which I was able to save from my govt. allowee, though it should have been #186,000, but because while in service my mother got herself involved in a thrift cooperative debt of about #80,000 which really caused her a lot of embarrassment and humiliation. Though, I have elderly ones but none was willing to put down anything, so I had no option than to give her a sum of #90,000 to clear the debt, and to tell you the fact, I didn't regret doing that at all, because I believe it was God's doing. So after the whole thing and before coming back home from service in Kogi state, I called my elder sister and informed her that I wanted to use the remaining money in my account to get an apartment in Ibadan or Osogbo because I believed if I relocated to either of those cities I would get a job even though I do not know anyone there, since these are the cities that I would love to start raising my own family after service, but she convinced me to come back to Lagos to search for job.

My dear brothers and sisters! That was how I came back to lag on the 21st of February, 2012, and started searching for teaching jobs that I love with great passion, but because I have an HND, I couldn't get any, so I had to turn my searchlight on other jobs, but uptil this moment I've not been able to secure one, but before i knew it, I had finished the whole money touring the entire cities of lagos and ogun states searching for jobs.

It's been 1yr 3months now that I've been at home doing nothing, and I want this to stop bcs i'm really really tired of sitting at home idle.So i've made up my mind to try and gather some money to travel to either Ibadan or Osogbo to find a menial job like security job, housekeeping job or cleaning job and use whatever I'm able to make from it to train myself in computer engineering which is the only self-employment job that I'll really love to do, at least this would give me an opportunity of being my own boss. The reason for traveling far is that, I'm a shy person and I would be ashamed of myself to do this kind of jobs where I'm well known and can be easily seen.

So fellow nairalanders, do you think this is the right step for me to take since no good job is forthcoming? I would really appreciate ur advice and suggestions, thanks a lot in advance.
You love teaching, what about organising tutorials/lessons for children of Middle Class People?
It would put food on the table, its something you have in your hands already and its a start.
Teaching Jobs pay crap in Nigeria.

Redoil: my number one stock for this month is livestock feeds it has being appriciating on my radar. At least 10thousand unit will be okay for me.
You arrived at that conclusion via technical or fundamental analysis?

I personally wont touch it, I know it might get to 10 naira but its not my type

Its trading at its year high
I cant remember it paying any dividends
The first quarter results just released show 25% drop in PAT compared to 162% gain same period last year
PE ratio is outrageous

The only redeeming factor is the Investment by UACN which is a stock I've never sold for almost 10 years now and which i believe would improve management.

kalan: Hello guys

what happened to the BIG DANFlour
its seems the man is robbing peter to pay paul.
I dey laff O.

I warned a friend concerning the dangotes TWINS of sugar and flour. I said the 3qrt results were showing signs of
heavy lifting and borrowing. he didnt hear the voice of reasoning- now he's licking his wound.

Dangote and his friends owns a substantial amount(over 85%) of the shares of both Sugar and Flour.
They knew the audited reports were bad some 2-3 months ago, they started pushing the stock prices from
around N4 to N10.5k that is over 150% profit, when satisfied with their loot, they decided to released the
results meanwhile they have off-loaded. Now when the price crash again, they will buy back their shares at penny prices.

what a way to make money.

Guys sharp up and open your eyes before you buy stocks. DO YOUR HW!

see the poor results attached. Look at the cashflow report and the liabilities- very dismal outing.

I noticed unlike Dangote, no corporate action is announced. Y? BECOS BROS DON SETTLE BIG BOYS. grin

He's using the money to build refinery. grin grin

I dey laff O.

Lovine: Jehovah Witness Preach the Jehovah they don't know or understand. How do they connect with one they don't know? They hate those who are not part of their cult group, they smoke, snuff, drink, etc. Tell me how they know this Jehovah. They can't employ you in their establishment if you are not a member. The only true authority are those Americans whom they claim Jehovah reveals the word and 144,000 that will inherit the earth. They believe over 90% of them don't qualify for heaven. Jesus is not God but a god, Jesus is not Almighty but mighty, etc and etc. If they have the Holy Spirit they would have not go to the lioness den.
Unfounded lies, they are one of the best christians Ive come across. Ive grown and lived among them

omopretty1: Bigx pls what other investments can bring higher yield? I'm not good at buying & selling so that idea is out.
The higher yields you go for, the more risk you have of loosing your entire capital.
Businesses abound everywhere but there are different businesses for different competencies/temperaments, I might suggest what would not work for you and the aim here is getting the most out of the money you have in the bank. Apart from that I dont go into businesses I cant understand so telling you to invest in something now would be probably self-serving to me or misleading you.

Just invest it in treasury bills or bonds first, the income is small but its better than the 2% from Banks and your initial capital is secured.

If you want to invest in anything riskier,

Please put the money in your Building project, my 2 cents

In this case, the OP wants to keep the money securely that's why I suggested investing in Bonds,

There are other investments that would bring larger results ( I am a business person and I know those things) but the higher the return, the higher the risk,

Thats why I wont advise buying and selling (what if you buy what people dont want or you sell and People decide to owe? Youve lost your capital), she said already that the house isnt for investment purposes, the land has been purchased with a structure on it so its somewhat more secured, and its in a remote area with Poor rental value.
So there really is no rush completing it now.

The land would always appreciate house or not,

Money in the bank would always be hammered by inflation and is open to temptation of "pinching",

Get your money yielding above bank interest rates, when you are ready, complete your house.

The only deviation here is if you are renting currently and need to avoid landlord issues urgently then you can put it into your building.

Take advice from those who've been there, done that.

Nairaland front page is misleading secondary school students might be advising you,

You never know

omopretty1: Thanks alot bigx, the house is meant to be residential if i'm to rent it out the rent will be small because of its location.
Then in that case invest till you've saved enough to raise it to habitable level.
